With the Diva reshuffle now complete, WWE is pushing ahead with it’s new vision for the women’s division. As mentioned in today’s Maryse article, the Diva Trade is being seen by management as a ‘do-over’. One Diva perhaps with more to gain from the move than any other is Eve Torres.
The Diva was moved to Raw after nearly two years on SmackDown, where she had shown great improvement in the ring since the WWE Draft in April. Eve’s move to Raw is very much a promotion from WWE management, we have been told that WWE considers her the ‘future of the division’. The hope is to have her eventually take over as the top babyface Diva in the company now that both Mickie James and Melina are ‘deep into their tenures’.
The Los Angeles native was expected to be pushed for the Women’s Championship against Michelle McCool before the move to Raw. That has been scrapped in favour of a more long term plan to ensure longevity for the Diva — Eve will be a ‘pet project’ for management going forward.
As well as making great strides in the ring, management believe that Torres has a ‘great disposition’ and is ‘extremely likable’, which they feel comes across on screen. This, of course, bodes well for pushing her as a top babyface in future; higher-ups feel that the audience will catch on with her because of her easily pleasant nature, thus Raw is the best place for her to be because it’s live.
There’s definitely a feeling that Eve will be a long term investment as long as management remain high on her. As we all know, Vince and co. are prone to change their minds at the drop of a hat, but the love for Eve right now is massive.
As revealed earlier today, she may feud with Maryse (another WWE favourite) upon the former Divas Champion’s return.
Not to toot our own horn, but we predicted this may happen earlier this year.

I can’t deny she improved. Eve has improved a lot, she is quite likeable and her moveset is becoming unique, which is always nice in a diva.
At the same time, I’d have to give the title of “future of the WWE Women Divison” to either Natalya or Alicia. Those two girls are by far the most impressing of the new bunch, so that title goes to them.
idk if you can necessarly call nattie one of the “new bunch” plus i mean i love her like most people do, but she cant really be called impressive so far in the ‘e, not to any of her fault though, creatives fault.
eve has def shown the most improvement this year, just like maryse last year, and she really is very easy to like! she’s became one of my favorites and i hope this is true, cause i’d love for it to happen!
that’s quite a scary pic of eve. but anyway, i agree she is very likeable, and i love how she incorporates her dance background into her moveset.
i think she still needs a bit more work on her charisma, maybe a more creative entrance and a better wrestling attire. i can’t wait to see what the future holds for eve, kelly, and alicia.
oh, and maryse.
Im still not FULLY sold on Eve Although she’s definitely impressive. I think Maryse, Natalya,Kelly and Alicia will carry the torch for the Division as mentioned above. Michelle still has a LONG career ahead of her and I doubt we’ll be seeing the back of her anytime soon either.
These last two stories on DD have made me realise that Melina/Mickie are probably coming closer to the end of their runs, which completely sucks!. GAIL KIM needs to seriously be pushed into a fued, at 32 the WWE needs to use her now or never really, she like Natalya is a hidden gem in the division.
I find that she is the best to move on with. I noticed that not only does she have a fresh face but she can also carry on a really good promo. Her acting abilities are very good. With the impressive strides and the fact that most fans already like her, she really could have a future in the WWE if they choose to carry on with her. She’s my favorite out of any new Diva that has come in since Melina and Mickie came onto the scene. Maryse would be a great heel rival to her, and I think their story lines, with the right writing would peak the interest of many fans that have since given up on the Divas division.
That’s great for Eve, and she deserves it. However, Eve is not at the point yet to carry someone at the Maria-Rosa-Maryse level. I would suggest matches with Jillian and Gail, plus maybe a one-off match (for now) aganist Melina, as that will help her develop more as a wrestler.
Keeping her away from the gold for a bit and building her up for the long haul….I LOVE IT!!!!! :) I mean, realistically when you look at the roster now, unless she’s VERY lucky, don’t expect Eve to be in the title picture for quite some time. I like this idea better than just “here’s the title”, like others have gotten. We all know what happened to them, don’t we.
While everyone know that Vince loves to change his mind between two drops of rain (old saying at my house), I’m glad that there are those within WWE that see that Eve has SOMETHING that would benefit the company. But when it’s all said and done, Eve Torres is the ONLY person that can make or break Eve Torres.
I’m also perfectly fine with those that don’t see what others are starting to see with Eve. Funny thing, about a decade ago, there were those that thought a certain blonde (now brunette) Canadian native would be all look and no talent and would be nothing more than an afterthought in the wrestling world, and look what happened to her. ;) Just sayin…
BTW, Melaine…are you SURE you’re not secretly putting in some work in WWE?! LOL.;) I mean, over the last month, we’ve seen Alicia get a program with Mickie James, Layla getting some much-deserved exposure, Jillian FINALLY getting a push, the women’s division giving a complete overhaul, and now this Eve news that you predicted over the summer coming into play now. Long story short, this week might go down as THE single craziest week is WWE Diva history.
Eve have improvement a lot but for the management to be so high on her but yet said they not impressed with Alicia kind of sucks. When Alicia is the better wrestler and that can carried a match and doesn’t have to have someone else to carried her like Eve did with Michelle.
I think the “future of the division” should go to Michelle and Alicia. Than Eve when she improve more.
This is so unfair! They are happy with Maryse and Eve but not happy with Alicia.
I think Vince is refreshing the division because the TNA knockout division is at a low point. Vince is trying to take them out now while the opening is there. This has been good for the Diva division. Honestly I was getting bored with the divas but things seem to be changing. WWE showed that they can ever use celebs better (compare Maria M. and Jenna M.).
In short go Eve and make me proud. =)
the TNA Knockouts division is not at a low point.
The Knockouts Division is getting better and better.
the segments with odb, kong and tara were to build up the fued between those two for bound for glory.
the wins for the beautiful people were to give them heat and make them legit challengers.
TNA”s Knockout Division is not at its low point and will never be.
The Knockouts Division is always and will be superior to the WWE Divas Division
lavadius-AGREED,anyone who thinks the knockouts division is not good needs to wake up
as for Eve,i have to be honest, besided her improving,I have no idea how she will be the future of the womens division, she doesn’t even have a ring attire, she just puts on random clothes, this is way premature
Mickies carrer is slowly coming to an end and you can tell,Melina is a big question mark right.I think the future will be Eve,Alicia,Serena Mancini,April lee, michelle, maybe natayla, and maybe Beth
also, what about Gail kim, she’s 32 years old(which is almost extinct in diva years) but she has a couple more years left, why not push her
i’d be really surprised if either the bellas, maria or even rosa were still with wwe in to or three years time. for me, eve, alicia and maryse are definitely the future.
I dont think the WWE is prepared to push GAIL for that very fact, her age. If she gets pushed to superstardom which we know she is capable of, the WWE will only realistically get another 2-3 years out of her max before she calls it quits, from their standpoint, its probably best to just use her as a talent to develop the new girls, e.g look at her matches with Maryse and Michelle, she made both of them look great, Maryse still has her best matches to date with Gail, minus the Mickie Match Gail has been gold in the ring since her return.
Hi i am a first time poster yay me :) love diva dirt
I believe the future of WWE is yet to come because WWE has a lot of talented divas in developement like Aj Lee, Mia Mancini, Courntey Taylor, Angela Fong, Jemma palmer
But Eve is the futurre regarding the current main roster divas.
and speaking of Jemma Palmer you guys reported that she has signed with wwe, and confirmed it through a source, well is she still signed because she has yet to debut and is Amy Henning signed?????? please answer
“Deep into their tenures”…………..translated…………….End of the Line.
Hope Melina’s parting gift is better than the one Mickie got.
Gail ? Vince isnt going to push anyone from TNA. Ask Christian.
Interesting whose name isnt mentioned………………..Kelly.
Stories have been around awhile that the entire McMahon family loves her.
Man,talking about this stuff always gets me sad,I mean think about it,some really great Divas have come into the WWE (Melina,Mickie,Beth,Michelle, etc) and they had to get stuck in what I am now naming the “Regressing Era” of the WWE women’s division.I really don’t ever see a ‘future’ in the WWE,because I still can’t see “Eve wins the Women’s Championship in a hard fought battle against Alicia Fox here on Raw,October 4th,2012!”.I can’t see anyone taking the WWE by storm. But,there is improvement.Serena,Eve,Alicia,Maryse,Michelle,Angela, these are the women that are making something out of themselves, and like it or not, they’re the future of WWE,so get ready, because judging from the past endings of the Divas (Trish,Lita,Molly,Victoria),the end is coming for the Divas division in 2012-2014.
I’m a huge Eve Torres fan, so I’m glad to hear this. She may not be the best wrestler in the WWE at the moment, but she’s got great potential, has already developed a unique moveset and she’s liked by fans. I could see her as a champ one day.
I also believe that A-Fox has the potential to be a top heel, along with Maryse, who already seems to be ‘up there’ in the compan.
“and speaking of Jemma Palmer you guys reported that she has signed with wwe, and confirmed it through a source, well is she still signed because she has yet to debut and is Amy Henning signed??????”
Jemma Palmer is with FCW, she uses the name “Lavinia” right now, after using “Candy Girl” briefly.
Amy Hennig isnt with WWE. She started training in early 2008 with Harley Race’ school, which is a good thing. First let her train outside of FCW so she doesnt become an FCW clone without a unique style. But i am certain WWE will eventually pick her up if she makes improvements.
“the end is coming for the Divas division in 2012-2014″
The indies are currently filled with women like Nicole Matthews, Athena, Jetta, Jessica James, Portia Perez, Jessie McKay, Catherine Power, Nevaeh and Rachel Summerlyn. All these women have in common that they are skilled in the ring, are in the age categorie 20-22 and have the ‘diva look’ (although some of them need to loose a few pounds). They already went for Serena/April, thats a sign they really are looking for young talent for the future. So sooner or later at least some of those names i listed will move to the WWE (if TNA doesnt snatch them away). So unless WWE decides to abandon their diva division completely it cant end, especially not when WWE wants to start their own wrestling channel.
Oh, ignore my comment about Jemma Palmer. Lavinia/Candy Girl is someone else. I guess that means Jemma isnt with WWE anymore, or never was.
Bad photo choice.. lol
i really can not see her as the future of the WWE, yes eve has improved and she has some moves we dont see much, but other then that i dont find her to be special, to me she still looks a bit uncomfortable at points, & i would like to see if she is capable of carrying girls who are not on her level and make them look good,
Maybe Diva Dirt can update us on Jemma Palmer since they did break the story of her signed :)
Honestly, i don’t like Eve.. no doubt she has improved. I will give her that.
But… i don’t want her to be the future of the womans divison! I want Kelly & Alicia! But… it seems like Kelly doesn’t even try to improve. It seems like she goes to FCW and just watches them fight, and not even try. she seems so stiff! But.. back to Eve, she is so blan. WWE needs to get rid of her, she is so weired looking too. :O
