This week on Superstars, Raw girls Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly are set to have a friendly match–or so I think. Watch below and see if these two babyfaces play nice:

Gail takes early control in the tie-up, taking Kelly to the mat. She keeps her down in a headlock position, which Kelly flips into an unsuccessful pin attempt. Gail reverses back to the headlock position, but Kelly soon snaps Gail into a headscissors. Gail quickly snaps up to her feet, but Kelly sweeps her, going for a pin but only getting 2. Gail gets up and does the same thing, also getting a 2-count. These girls are showing some great speed early on..

They slow down a bit, catch their breath, and slap hands. Guess this will be a friendly match after all.. They start with another tie-up, Gail getting control once again with a side headlock. With a few punches to the midsection, Kelly gets free and shoves Gail into the ropes. On the return, Gail knocks Kelly to the mat. Another pin, another 2-count.

Gail pulls Kelly to her feet, twisting her arm into an arm wrench. Kelly backs into the ropes and uses them for momentum, flipping backwards and using the momentum to take Gail down with an arm drag. Kelly charges towards Gail in the corner but Gail slips out of the ring, hopping back over the ropes and taking Kelly into a schoolboy pin. Kelly kicks out, and Gail pulls her up, irish-whipping her into the corner. Kelly hops backwards over a charging Gail, doing a back tuck for good measure. She armdrags Gail, who then backs into the corner. Kelly peps up the crowd, climbing the turnbuckle for a monkey flip. Gail, however, hangs onto the ropes, sending Kelly to the mat back-first. Gail bridges into a pin for a 2-count.

Gail gets Kelly into a sleeper hold. She holds it for some times before Kelly turns over, trying to get free. Gail hangs on, flipping it back to its regular position. Gail keeps the hold tight as Kelly flails, finally getting to her feet. The hold still entact, Kelly blindly backs Gail into the corner, freeing herself. As Kelly tries to recover, Gail takes back control, shoving her into the corner and hoisting her to the top rope. She attempts a Frankensteiner but Kelly holds on, and Gail hits the mat like a ton of bricks. She slowly gets to her feet while Kelly steadies herself on the top turnbuckle, grabbing Gail and positioning herself on her shoulders. Gail takes a few steps forward and Kelly rolls through for a 2-count.

Both go for a clothesline and take each other out. They slowly get to their feet, trading blows until Kelly gets momentum, taking Gail down with two clotheslines and then ducking one, bouncing off the ropes and wrapping Gail in a twilt-a-whirl headscissors. Both get to their feet again and Kelly attempts a schoolboy pin. Gail kicks out, and when Kelly goes to grab her, she sends her into corner. Gail attempts a charging attack but Kelly moves out of the way. Gail telegraphs this and jumps onto the turnbuckle, leaping for a body splash but eating mat instead. Gail slowly shows movement as Kelly readies for the attack, hitting her with the Kelly Killing. 1, 2, 3.

Kelly celebrates and, showing good sportsmanship, brings Gail to her feet. Gail sells the damage well, still doubled over as the two hug.

This match showed some great chemistry between Gail and Kelly, as the two traded blows pretty evenly and worked a an exciting, fast-paced match. Kelly’s still pretty spot-focused, but when working against an opponent as quick on her feet as Gail, it’s kind of masked. It’s a shame that Gail’s a babyface, because these two could put on a great series of matches together, and I don’t see the WWE pushing a double babyface feud.

Overall, it wasn’t much of a buildup for Bragging Rights. I mean, teammates facing off? Kind of counter-productive.. Still, it was an entertaining match, even if it has no real bearing on placement or position. That’s probably a good thing, though, because Gail’s pretty low on the totem pole as it is, and I’d love for her to get back towards the top sometime soon. Needless to say, losing to Kelly wouldn’t help matters. But with Raw’s sudden influx of babyfaces, do you think Gail could make the switch to heel? It’s been done before, to unfavorable results, but perhaps this time she could benefit from a change of pace. God knows playing “generic babyface duo” with Kelly isn’t doing wonders for her. That’s not to insult Kelly, though–every brand needs that peppy babyface for the fans to get behind–I just don’t think Gail needs to be a generic duplicate of that.

  1. wow that was a great match. kelly definitely should have let gail hit her high spots like the super hurricanrana or the flying crossbody at the end, because this match made gail look really weak in comparison.

the crowd was surprisingly really into it, or maybe it was edited in. great match.

  2. wow great match, and the crowd was really into it! nice job kelly and gail!

  3. I think the crowd was actually behind Kelly. Because it was her hometown and because WWE has been really shoving her down our throats for a steady three years now – with the end result being a popular babyface. They should really do the same to Gail, in some way or fashion. Whether it’s heel or the face route because Gail isn’t any more or less generic than Kels, the Bellas or Eve now. Vince should stop punishing her for whatever TNA spot she may have had and let her come up for air.

  4. Totally agreed with the above comment.

I can’t reiterate this enough: what was the whole point of resigning Gail Kim if not to capitalise on her success in TNA? Vince McMahon seems resentful towards anyone who made a name for themselves beyond WWE. He has some of the best working female wrestlers in his company and just doesn’t know how, or want, to use them to the best of their abilities. There’s at least a dozen other women within the company I’d rather see in Kelly Kelly’s spot. Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler were popular, but they were never booked favourably over the proper wrestlers. I don’t see why this should be the case here.

And unless this match was to engineer a heel turn for Gail, I don’t see what it did to promote Bragging Rights. Kelly Kelly might have been better facing off against Natalya or putting over Michelle McCool.

  5. have anybody noticed that this is kelly greatest match ever

  6. Kudos Gail for actually carrying Kelly to a decent match. Kelly’s execution of offense and moves is still awful though. But it was decent.

  7. i actually enjoyed this match, kelly was the same as usual but when she has a strong opponent she really looks good, if you look at her matches with maryse/rosa they are just :/, but when she has someone like beth or like last night gail she has much more energy and she’s pretty entertaining to watch,

& WWE made a huge mistake by letting Gail join Raw

  8. WOW Gail Kim just gave Kelly her BEST MATCH and BEST VICTORY to date. And yes I say gave because Gail literally made the match what it was. Great to see Kelly keep up though.

I see this match as being KELLY’s Golden handshake, in the sense that she got a hometown victory , in front of her family and friends. I dont see WHY it was over Gail though, especially going into Sunday it really serves no purpose. Gail has literally had the BEST matches with every diva bar Mickie James since coming into the WWE. Question can someone get some insider info as to WHY they arent doing anything with her?

  9. Gail should go back to TNA,we all know WWE has no intentions of putting a title on her. When is leads to actually losing to a talentless model like kelly,Gail had definitly reached the bottom in WWE,it’s a DISGRACE

we all know that Gail would destroy kelly in a real match but of course,WWE will always let the less talented popular blond win

    GAIL RUN BACK TO TNA!!!!!

  10. I thought this match was enjoyable, fast paced and well planned.
Kudos to Gail and Kelly for putting ona great show! Kelly deffinitely has potential when put in the ring with Good athletes.

plus a match between to faces is not unusual its just a contest between 2 athletes it dosen’t need story behind it, They used to do this kind of thing a few years ago – place two good athletes together.

and look at the result a good match :]

  11. i dont think she should run back to TNA. Yes she is pretty low on the totem pole but, Gail is a girl of patience, she always says be patient and good things come to those who wait. I think her time will come, and when it does, shell make even more history than she already has. Gail is really happy where she is at, and shes said in the past that she wouldnt mind finishing her career in TNA, i dont think her career should be over anytime soon, so for the time being, can we all just try to be happy for her, and be patient like she is? :D

  12. very good match kelly did put 200% in it
and gail looked good too i dont see her lose is a big deal after such a match

  13. The Kelly chants were cool. Kelly looked really good in front of her family and hometown fans. This match is what WWE has been looking for from her. Not a perfect performance, but definitely something for Kelly to build upon.

You definitely saw the difference between Gail and Mickie working with inexperienced workers. Gail can carry and make them better, while Mickie doesn’t. A good reason why Gail is still on Raw and Mickie got shipped off. Entering the second year of her deal, I think Gail’s title reign is coming soon.

If Kelly can continue to have matches like this, then they’ll be more comfortable with a face group of Melina, Kelly, and Eve. The heels have a huge void after Jillian and Alicia, while Maryse will need time to shake off ring-rust. Turning Gail heel would be a good, since she’d not connecting with the crowd anyway. I’m not sure how over Gail would be as a face champ, plus I don’t see Jillian ever getting the belt again.

  14. it was a good match, maybe gail will turn at bragging rights

  15. Everybody carries Kelly Kelly’s in her matches so there is no difference here.

  16. That was a good match. Like Erin said, Kelly’s spot-fest style meshed well with Gail’s fast paced style. I think that may be the best match either Diva has had in some time.

  17. Best Divas Match for the Raw Divas this year, IMO. Gail really gave Kelly a good match. It just goes to show how good Gail is. I find this great as this was the best match of the night. Annoyed that Gail lost but I will give it to Kelly for it being at her hometown. I don’t expect this to carry onto Bragging Rights. I think if Gail can make as good as matches as she did on Superstars, WWE are going to have to give her a push.

  18. That was a good, competitive match I thought, some people are being too hard on Kelly I think, I didn’t see her being carried here at all, both girls did a good job, and Gail didn’t lose any credibility at all, in fact this was one of her only matches since she returned that the crowd was into, and probably her best match since her title match with Maryse on SD, funny how she has her worst matches against the “real” wrestlers.

RKOyou: Come on man, a DISGRACE to lose to a talentless blonde like Kelly? I don’t like seeing my favorites losing to people I don’t like either (Natalya losing clean to Eve in under 2 mins a couple months ago made me sick lol), but it’s not the end of the world, at least she was actually given the time to have a decent match this week, would you rather her win a horrible match than lose a good one?

  19. Gail hugging Kelly and acknowledging her win, in her home town was great to see. That is what real sportsmanship, honor and ability are all about, and Gail Kim excells at that. Best match by WWE Divas in a very long time.

  20. Gail was the star in the match,if you watch the match careifully, kelly didn’t really do much, she just did her usual spots like she always does, she even botched her Kelly killer

Gail was all over the place, this girl is awesome,I don’t know why the crowd doesn’t cheer for her, she’s clearly the better wrestler of the 2

it was a great match but saying it was kellys best match doesn’t make sence since Gail did most of the work

  21. God i wish everyone would STOP. With the Gail needs to run back to TNA stuff. So what if she lost. This was one of her best performances since re debuting back in March. Not everyone is going to win all the time. It’s like you want her winning every freaking match she’s in and that’s not going to happen. Right now she’s still finding her niche getting back to the WWE style, and if you look at her face she’s having a good time at that. Stop judging by wins/looses and focus on the performances, because that’s what truly at the end of the day what matters. Now onto the match. Now this was a match. I was glad to see it happen, and can’t wait to see my fav team og Gail and Melina (they had awesome chemistry on Smackdown) with Kelly Kelly against The dream team of Michelle, Beth and Nattie on Sunday.

  22. Awesome, awesome match.Gail should never job out to newbies like Kelly.Props to Kelly for putting on a good match with a great veteran like Kim.Remember everyone, patience is a virtue.

  23. This match was decent but to say it was the BEST diva matches with the RAW divas are to much. RAW matches aren’t edited out but Superstars can cover up Kelly botches.

  24. I don’t think that this match was good, and I think that Kelly Kelly sucks as a wrestler even though she’s improving. Also we all know that Gail is the better wrestler out of the two, and you can see how Gail let Kelly do some of the moves on her because she didn’t look like she was trying to avoid them at all not to mention that they didn’t even let her do the hurricanrana or the cross body which sucks.

  25. RKOyou- Kelly didn’t botch the K2. It didn’t look the best because of Gail. All Kelly does is jump up and land. Gail moved awkwardly in the middle of the move– I’d say Jillian sales the move best.

  26. This match was pretty good. Gail has the experience to carry Kelly, but Kelly is also improving. It was a smooth, fluid match with plenty of spots but some good basic moves like arm drags and holds. I’m impressed with how far K2 has come. She still has a ways to go, but she’s proving to be like Candice, not satisfied with being just another pretty face. And Gail’s time will come – look at Jillian, she’s had to wait years even though she has more experience than a lot of the other women. Besides I doubt Gail would be with the ‘E if she didn’t want to be.

  27. wwediva16,talkin about avoiding moves…i think u know wrestling is fake right?
i mean gail didnt have to avoid kelly’s moves she had to sell them as good as she can, everybody in wrestling does the same

  28. People still find it hard to accept Kelly Kelly as a wrestler due to how she was first used as part of WWE, she was ECW’s Exhibitionist, then part of the dance group Extreme Expose – and she didn’t get much time to actually train in WWE’s developmental promotions before her WWE debut. She is learning as she goes, and that is always harder for a person to do rather than having the pre-big leagues training the likes of Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix and Mickie James have had.
So I have a lot of respect for Kelly Kelly and I loved that match. It was exciting and looked great. Some people click in the ring, others don’t, whether they are a good worker or not – and these two definitely clicked in the ring.

  29. first off let me say Gail Kim is a background diva and also does she even care about the divas division I mean she is doing good financialy I assume the point is she’s a sellout to female wrestling division maybe I’m wrong

  30. Decent match. Like Kelly’s new finisher.
