Who’s Next for the Knockouts Championship?

ODB has successfully defended her Knockouts Championship against perhaps the two biggest challengers in the division, Awesome Kong and Tara, who will likely now be feuding on their own. Where does this leave the Knockouts Champ? Who will be the next challenger for the title? With seemingly the top contenders for the title now wrapped up in their own feuds [Saritaylor vs TBP, Kong vs Tara], this leaves the door wide open for a Knockout who is usually the ‘understudy’ to come in and stake their claim against ODB. We weigh the options:

Alissa Flash: Perhaps the most underutilised TNA Knockout on the roster, the Future Legend has been laying down for the pin more often than making the cover. Her history beyond TNA is what Barney Stinson would describe as legen-wait-for-it-dary. She is considered one of the top women’s wrestlers in the world. So why is it that in TNA she has become a doormat for her fellow Knockouts? With her alter-ego Raisha Saeed now seemingly done, there’s no need for TNA’s writers to have to prioritise her two roles — they now have the opportunity to push the Future Legend hard and have her cement what seems like a birth right, to be a top Knockout. As one of the most experienced women on the roster, we have no doubt she could give ODB a good run for her money and their matches would likely be epic.

Daffney: She’s bumped and bumped for this company, why not reward her? It’s time for Dr Stevie’s sidekick to branch out on her own. Behind that character, many forget that Daffney is a fantastic wrestler and has a genuinely unique style in the ring [see her match with Hamada]. As a fully-developed character also, which is rare in women’s wrestling, the storylines are seemingly endless for her antagonising ODB. ODB is a woman of bad ass strength, but I’m guessing Daffney could spook her out with some Dark Knight Joker-esque antics. Just think: Psycho Mickie on crack!

Hamada: Is she a babyface? Is she a heel? TNA can’t quite decide what they want Hamada to be. Right now however, she is a babyface and despite having an awesome debut match — it’s safe to say that TNA has dropped the ball with this Knockout. Why not have her re-establish herself by going for the Knockouts Title? Hamada has a hard hitting style that could make for some rough-and-tumble matches with the Knockouts Champion, who herself is a rough-and-tumble kinda gal.

Traci Brooks: Original Flavour has yet to truly be considered a top Knockout… or even a middling level Knockout for that matter. She was part of the now defunct Main Event Mafia, so they could bring her back with a renewed focus on becoming the top Knockout in the company, touting all the tips and tricks she learned from wrestling ‘royalty’ in the Mafia. Traci is long overdue a title programme, right? Perhaps this could be the time for her to re-establish herself.

So which of our four chosen Knockouts do you think should be next in line for the title? Or do you think it should be someone else entirely? Vote below & sound off in the comments.

Who should be next in line for ODB's Knockouts Title?

You know something all three women should be knockouts championship Alissa Flash, Daffney, and Hamada.

But I would say Alissa should get the belt.

I’m not just being bias but I would love to see Daffney win the title!

Like you guys said, she has taken so many dangerous bumps for them, especially the one at BFG, and the Knockouts Championship is something she is very deserving of because she has really worked her ass for the company from day 1 – she is extremely over with the fans, her in-ring work is exciting and polished and she also has a real character and personality – not just a generic heel or babyface.

I’m pulling for either Alissa or Daffney.

Alissa has the bad-ass style and talent to put on 5-star matches with almost everyone. She could do wonders for returning the title to its former glory.

Daffney is a master craftswoman when it comes to her character. She’s never ever boring on the mic, and she can more than hold her own in the ring.

If either woman even gets a shot at the title, I’ll be marking the hell out!

I’m going to have to go with the majority here. I am really hoping the next woman in the title scene is Alissa Flash or Daffney. They are both very good workers and each have great characters right now. I think either one of them would be an interesting and entertaining Knockouts Champion.

    Oooo,psycho Mickie on crack?I’m in!lol

Seriously, though,Daffney or Alissa all the way. They both have the character, even though Daffney’s stronger in that aspect, and they both have the ring skills, even though Alissa is better,so either one of them would be awesome champions.I’m still rooting for Daf,though.

Either Alissa or Hamada. I’d also say Daffney but her injury is probaby going to pull her off the show for a while.
All I’m hoping for is Hamada vs. Kong and/or Alissa vs. Kong.

“ODB has successfully defended her Knockouts Championship against perhaps the two biggest challengers in the division”

I must’ve missed something, because i only saw a 3-way match at the ppv, and some 1-on-1 matches with interference. So you can’t really say that Kong and Tara are now out of the title picture, neither was pinned by ODB in a normal match.

I hope its going to be Daffney or Alissa that step into the title picture, but i doubt we will get that lucky. Both are basicly used as jobbers by TNA, and i dont see them change that anytime soon. This week Alissa lost to ODB (again) during the houseshows.

Traci Brooks isnt a serious candidate, especially now that the MEM is gone, and the playboy deal didnt work out. Putting the title on her is probably worse than ODB right now.

That leaves 1 person: Hamada. I think she is still undefeated in TNA (excluding the TT match with sojo), although she only had a few matches sofar. She would definately make a credible champion. She doesnt have mic skills, but that wasnt a problem for Kong either. On youtube you can watch a 20-minute match between Hamada and Kong from their days in AJW.

So my money is on Hamada if i have to choose between the 4 choices, or else i just go for Tara or Kong.

Well, I think it may be Traci brooks where she is the orginal Knockout and she is part of the Main Event Mafia,

But I dont think it will be Daffney where she is currently injured, so that only leaves Alissa Flash, Hamada, Christy, and Sojo Bolt.

Alissa i dont think her, since she just jobbed to Tara on this past Impact. Sojo she hasnt been on impact in a month or so. Christy she is a face so cant she her facing ODB

THat only leaves Hamada and Traci, and i am thinking they will give it to Traci because i belive Hamada needs a manager someone like Sonny Onoo

Alissa Flash all the way…she just has that edge as Cheerleader Melissa…screw it all she is just the one

    October 25, 2009 at 2:15 am

IT SHOULD BE ALISSA,she’s way to talented to just be a jobber, she could do wonders as knockouts champion(possibly the best knockouts champ to date) but sadley,TNA just doen’t see her beyond her jobber role

no one can really take traci seriously in anything, she hasn’t done anything to help the KO division and with the MEM done,i don’t see traci lasting, maybe she’ll dissappear again and show up next year

hamada is not on top of my list,I feel like I don’t even know who she is,she doesn’t talk but thats she doesn’t know english

daffney would be a nice choice but with her injury at BFG,I don’t think she’ll be getting any pushes

“push the Future Legend hard and have her cement what seems like a birth right, to be a top Knockout”

I love that line melanie,it’s GOLD!!!!

but knowing TNA,ODB will just drop the title to either kong or Tara in the coming weeks,TNA doesn’t look like there about to push any other knockout

What about Sojourner Bolt, although i doubt it will be her, i think she will be released when her contract comes up in december

Keep in mind they need to create a few more KO tag teams for the newly created titles. Even if that means hiring some outside talent.

Traci has never been a contender.

I honestly ADORE the other 3. But for the time being, they need ODB to drop the title to Kong because then Tara can chase her (faces chasing heels is more interesting). That feud can still be done and I am confident these two will develop great chemistry. It is a one-on-one feud I’m still keen to see.

Once Tara wins then Alissa Flash should be in line for a push.

Daffney should be used in the tag division. Hire McChif and let the Scream Queens feud with the Speed Queens.

Hamada can be in eiter division, she’s incredible.

I would love for it to be Alissa and i do believe someday it will. I just dont think TNA are THAT stupid enough to hire someone like mellissa and do nothing with her at all.
Maybe Alissa and Hamadas 2 week feud was a little tester to see how well they worked together plus judgeing viewers reaction?
So that if it worked one of them can get the title and the feud can continue.

Im just not sure how well Alissa is comming across. To us, people who know her past, we still think she is comming across as someone who is still seen as a strong competitor even though she is lossing.
Im wondering if others, people who dont follow womens wrestling as much, just sees her as someone who cant win, is no threat and therefore wouldnt care about her getting the title, or thibking its stupid she has it.

Alissa Flash should be ond of the top heels in TNA… She is way to talented to be jobbing…

It’s TNA people, Vince Russo will either get the strap or find and bring in some washed up Hollywood actor / actress in to be the new knockout championship.

I hope Traci gets it, I think she deserved it more than ODB. Tara or Kong will most likely probably get it next though but out of everyone on that list I think Daffney would be the first Knockout champ… Actually I don’t know.. lol But I hope it’s either Traci or Alissa.

    Anyone!
Neither one of them have been given a title shot :(

I know Vince Russo has always loved the Daffney character, like in WCW he gave Daffney the WCW Cruiserweight Championship and put in her lots of storylines. So I’m hoping he will gave her the same push in TNA, after what she’s been through with the injuries she’s suffered I think that would make up for it.

I’d like to see Alissa Flash take the title from ODB, then defend it over following months against Hamada, Tara and Kong, all one on one not a three or fourway. Recent results may not be calling for Alissa to take the title, but her talent is likely to raise the profile of the KO, particulary with the range of possible feuds mentioned. That would produce a really good string of matches.

But I also agree with NT86 that the tag division needs strenghting. At present it seems to be just TBP (who seem to bew heading down a backwater given recent showings) to challenge Sarita/Taylor. New teams are needed. Like the idea of Mschif to partner Daffney, but at least one more team would be needed unless Angelina could return to reform the old TBP.

According to wrestlezone.com i just read the ODB defeated Alissa in a title match at a house show in Chicago..Could this be a sign that Alissa is next to challenge for the title?

Bill Mitchell is an example on why people see the Internet Wrestling Community is a joke, If you dont believe it just ask Taz

Russo doesnt book the KO’s , Ferrara and Conway are doing it with D’Amore laying out the matches

Getting back to topic I think TNA is gonna have the Kong/Tara first and then have ODB drop the strap at most at Genesis.

Some of you are either forgetting Diva-Dirt’s interview with MsChif,or didn’t listen. She clearly stated in the interview that she’s not interested in joining either promotion right now,so the scream queen tag team thing isn’t exactly likely…..

“I just dont think TNA are THAT stupid enough to hire someone like mellissa and do nothing with her at all.”
They hired her 2 years ago and put her in a Burka, jobbing to the entire Knockout division. So unfortunately they indeed are THAT stupid.

I voted for Daffney, based on several things. Mostly, an ODB-Daffney feud would be loads of fun: good promos, probably some hardcore matches, stiff work from two talented wrestlers. She deserves it for sacrificing her body for the company. And hell, we’re a week from Halloween, a perfect time for the Scream Queen to make a run at the belt, assuming she can come back from her concussion soon.
As for the other three wrestlers mentioned: Traci is a no-go. Not nearly talented enough in the ring. You have bring something into a title program, and I just don’t see it. Hamada and Alissa certainly should get their chance, and I think will. But Daffney should be first.

  • kirstygrahamx

well it wont be traci as her role in the mem has ended as the mem has ended so her push will probably stop there.
it probably wont be hamada as odb and hamada have paired up now for a match and they are both face’s.
it could possibly be alissa flash or daffney and hopefully will be as they deserve it.
