This week on Superstars, Kelly Kelly makes her second appearance in as many weeks, taking on Alicia Fox. Will this week’s match be as entertaining as last week’s bout? Let us see:
They start with a tie-up, Alicia roughing Kelly up to gain control and wrench her arm into an arm bar. Keeping the hold locked, she slams Kelly by her hair to the mat, crouching to get the best angle on the hold. Kelly hops up, but Alicia won’t let go, wrapping it even tighter. Kelly seeks refuge in the corner, climbing the turnbuckle, hopping down butt-first onto the top rope, flipping backwards and tossing Alicia across the ring with an arm drag. Not gonna lie, that was pretty impressive..
Alicia is stunned, but manages to beat Kelly to the punch, whipping her into the opposite corner. Kelly stops herself on the turnbuckle, though, pushing herself backwards and over Alicia. She does a back tuck to keep momentum, then meeting Alicia with a dropkick when she charges towards her. Kelly goes for the pin, but is unsuccessful.
Both get to their feet at the same time, trading blows until Kelly runs the ropes, going for an attack that Alicia telegraphs, hoisting Kelly up and into a backbreaker. Alicia goes for a pin, but gets a 2-count. Not satisfied (and obviously feeling that Kelly will change her mind and stay down), she goes for another pin, but gets the same result. She circles her prey before grabbing her by the hair and planting a knee into her back, wrenching her by the neck.
With Kelly’s struggle, the move does a 180, Alicia shifting to her feet but keeping the knee firmly in place. Kelly slowly gets to her feet, but before she can counter, Alicia scoops her up. Kelly scoots over Alicia’s shoulder though, rolling her up into a pin attempt that Alicia kicks out of. Damn, the way Alicia reacted to that counter made me think it was a botch. Just good selling, though. Alicia is obviously pissed off by this, delivering a blow to Kelly’s face and taking her time, pacing the ring and taunting the crowd. This elicits a decent reaction, but I’m not sure if that’s more due to Alicia’s heel spark or Kelly’s success as a babyface.
Alicia stands over a prone Kelly, grabbing her neck and wrenching her back. Kelly tries valiantly to get free but Alicia just won’t let up, pounding her in the back and tossing her out of the ring. However, Kelly has other plans, holding onto the top rope and trying to hoist herself back over it. Alicia stops this, kicking her in the back and leaving her sitting on the apron. Alicia goes to grab Kelly through the ropes but Kelly shoulders her in the stomach, performing a sunset flip over both Alicia and the ropes and into a pin, which Alicia kicks out of. Furious, Alicia takes a swing at Kelly that she ducks. Both girls run for the opposite ropes, meeting in the middle. Kelly wins this meeting, taking Alicia down with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors..
Building momentum, Kelly nails Alicia with a series of clotheslines, then hopping up and taking her to the mat with a frankensteiner, hooking the leg for a pin that only elicits a 2-count. She lands a few forearms to Alicia’s face, whipping her to the corner and amping up the crowd, performing her handspring elbow. However, instead of meeting Alicia’s stomach she meets her knees. Alicia drives them into Kelly’s back, dropping her to the mat. Watching Kelly closely as she tries to get to her feet, Alicia then springs into action, nailing her with the scissors kick. She gets the pin and the win.
I absolutely love that these girls–the ones not necessarily on the front lines, but are worth merit nonetheless–are getting a chance to show what they’ve got. While they may not get much face time on Raw, they’re getting better matches and more ring time than Melina and Jillian have these past few weeks. This is like the second coming of WWE Heat, where Divas would have spectacular matches and get much more room to breathe than they would on the more mainstream shows. If the likes of Kelly and Alicia keep getting these opportunities, they could be ready for the big time very soon.
I particularly admire Alicia’s heel tactics, being absolutely tenacious against Kelly. She just wouldn’t let up, and totally sold that bitchy attitude. She’s got great ring presence and while she might resort to rest holds too often, she shows that she, more or less, knows what she’s doing in there. Kelly is still the flashy babyface, but I guess there’s a place for that in the division. I’m not sure if she’ll ever have too much substance in her ring work, but I’m beginning to become satisfied with that. But when she gets into a legitimate title feud, we may have troubles.
Of these two girls, who were hired at nearly around the same time, Alicia seems better groomed as a wrestler. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that she got a lot of time in the developmental system with plenty of time to fine-tune her wrestling while Kelly stripped on ECW. But for what it’s worth, Kelly has blossomed into quite the fan favorite. She could easily be one of Raw’s top babyfaces if she was given the chance. I think this match is a sign of what’s to come–both of these girls could be the “future” of the Divas division in the coming years. They’re the “next class” so to speak. And if this match is any indication, with some fine-tuning, the future shouldn’t be all that shabby.

This had to be one of Kelly’s worst matches. I don’t get how people can say she is improving cause I see no improvement in her at all. She was completely sloppy and very slow. I could also see fatigue setting in and it was only like a four minute match. Funny how Kelly has been in the WWE longer than Alicia and yet its Alicia carrying Kelly, its like Kelly has to constantly carried in a match. Alicia however, did a great job. She was the only one to make the match look credible. I loved the Axe Kick.

I think Kelly Kelly best match was with Gail Kim. This match with Alicia she was very sloppy and tired. It look like she was out of breath just in 2 mins in the match. Yes, Kelly is improving but I don’t see Kelly being the “future” of the divas division yet. Kelly looked like she botch maybe 2 moves in this match.
Alicia is just great to watch. I think this match was Alicia worst single match but she still did great and my eyes was on her during the whole match. I loved it when she said “Kelly Kelly Huh” amazing she getting some heat.
But I’m still shock that Alicia won this match.

Oh, those clotheslines that Kelly did to Alicia was so weak.

@MickieJamesfan07:
Your like the average Mickie James fan, you have no taste in talent… let alone in improving talent. You say “This diva is this blah, blah” Let’s be honest you only care for botching Mickie Lame!!! Kelly is the future baby face!!
October 30, 2009 at 10:00 am
Gail VS Kelly was definitely better, but Alicia did a good job here. Kelly will undoubtedly become the top Babyface in the womens division, its only a matter of time. She’s young, she’s blonde, and the CROWD LOVES HER. I just hope she doesnt burn out too quickly like Mickie James has and lose her in ring focus.

Most critics are giving this match a bad rating and or calling it a dud, but it wasnt bad at all. Considering the amount of experience these two had it was a good match.

I’ve been a big fan of Victoria Crawford (Alicia Fox) since her OVW days and I love her heel persona shining through in these matches, good work on her behalf and a good heel for RAW to have at the moment. Just a little work on that Axe Kick (because I feel that’s a little sloppy compared to that of Booker T) and she’ll be spot on.
Now, I don’t rate Kelly Kelly at all, never have. But where credit is due, I’ll give her credit. She’s always improving and good on her. So she botches a few moves, show me a diva’s match in the past year where there hasn’t been a botch? One bone I have to pick about Kelly is the fact she’s always screaming, or whatever you want to call that noise she makes. Fair enough she’s selling the move but she does it too much and gets annoying.
Overall, this was a good solid face vs. heel match. If this becomes a little subfued away from the mockery that is Melina vs. Jillian (made a mockery by Santino, Chavo and that Little B*st*rd, yeah I went there) then good on them, it could be interesting if this match is any indication. But I think it’ll be a one off match, shame really.

One thing I would like to see WWE do, is give the lesser, unpopular divas like Alicia Fox, Gail Kim, Rosa Mendes and others a chance for personality and character growth. Kelly Kelly isn’t a huge success story because she has tons and tons of charisma or mic skills. WWE picks and chooses their favorites and they stick to them. So, I say instead of constantly trying to groom the next Trish Stratus, give all the other girls a crack. Especially the ones who actually does a decent job wrestling.
October 30, 2009 at 10:41 am
kelly clotheselines are weak.she very sloppy and slow but the rest made up for it now alicia fox vs who next week
October 30, 2009 at 11:34 am
“I don’t get how people can say she is improving cause I see no improvement in her at all.”
Fans are like sheep. The commentators keep repeating how much she improves, and eventually people start believing it. They did the same with Candice, every single match they said how much she improved (they never said she was good, just improving). They did that to camouflage how much she really sucked. Good stategy by WWE, the fans keep falling for it.

Anyone else here want Gail back on SD!? I mean she has not had a good match on RAW since her return. Not ONE! Excluding the #1 contender match with A Fox, but that’s it. I remember every match on SD! that involved Gail was awesome. My favourite being the #1 contender match with McCool an the tag match with Melina.
Agreed that Kelly’s clothesline were weak but it’s even sadder how Cole is saying “Kelly is EXPLODING with those clotheslines” instead of saying maybe fatigue is settling in. Happy that for the last 2 weeks RAW matches on Superstars involved Divas, unhappy that they both included Kelly, would’ve much rather seen A Fox vs Gail but oh well. These crowds are so annoying. They always cheer for Kelly because she’s hot, she is but that’s not what they should be cheering for. Gail was practically getting booed last week, but Kelly was getting cheered. On a related note, where they booing Kelly or Fox for that “botch” where Kelly rolled her up? I wish it was Kelly, because that would mean they actually know that Fox was carrying Kelly that entire match.
A Fox > Kellyx2.
Rant over.
October 30, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Like I said before, you gets get too carried away.
I really liked this match. I can agree that Kelly and Alicia have the ability to be the future of the business. They’re “smart, sexy and powerful” and they’re the two youngest (not including Tiffany, who isn’t wrestling ATM.)
October 30, 2009 at 1:00 pm
Not a god match for eiher, but what can you expect when Kelly Kelly is wresting. Alicia was great in the match, getting decent amount of heat which is good for her. Kelly wasn’t so good, of course … SHE BOTCHED, AS USUAL! Never hope for too much from Kelly Kelly cause you’ll get dissapointed very easily. Also, the orgasmic man scream scissors has GOT TO GO! It sounds wrong and it is WAAAY overhyped, it’s not even a scissors, it makes the move look fake. -_-
Alicia >>>>>> Kelly, always ae been and alway will be.
October 30, 2009 at 1:30 pm
People are forgetting so many things.First of all,the show is pre-recorded,so it’s more than likely that the cheers and fan heat are canned (fake).Second,Alicia was wearing Kelly down,so obviously if you say fatigue is setting in,it’s because she’s doing her job right!Third, that match wasn’t bad at all!And you could barely notice the botches,if there were any.Alicia and Kelly put on a decent bout, and I luuuurved the hand gestures from Alicia. She’s quite fiesty!
October 30, 2009 at 2:17 pm
KK needs to learn how to bounce off the ropes…I’ve never seen somebody hit them softer than she does. Decent match overall. I’m still confused why they squashed the James-Fox fued so quickly.
October 30, 2009 at 2:51 pm
lol i always think one day kelly kelly will throw up doing that spinning hurricanrana,
Alicia’s getting so confident in the ring her entrance was a great heel one
i think she’s showing allot of personality
October 30, 2009 at 6:09 pm
Alicia sells moves incredibly well; they always seem to have this “snap effect” to them. However, it does kind of concern me. She has an incredible body, but is her body really built for wrestling (not that Kelly’s body is either)? But, with the way she hits the mat, how many years can she possibly do this for? I wonder…

wwedivamadness:
I have no taste in talent??? That is about the saddest thing I ever heard. Just cause my screen name on here is MickieJamesFan doesn’t mean she is my only favorite. Kelly Kelly is a joke to women’s wrestling, she is becoming the next Ashley. I am fully aware that Mickie has botched, hell all the divas have botched, but Kelly is just way too sloppy. She always has to rely on her opponent to carry her in all her matches. I used to like Kelly, but after sometime on RAW, her skills went downhill pretty fast and I haven’t seen anything great out of her.
October 30, 2009 at 6:18 pm
I agree with MickieJamesFan07. Kelly is really bad, plain and simple. but it was better than that crap fest on Raw.
October 30, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Pretty good match. I’ve found the Alicia Fox hype to be a bit premature, but she looked good here. I just wish she would quit landing on her butt every time she takes a bump, or she’ll be on the sidelines with back problems (ala Torrie Wilson) sooner than later.
October 30, 2009 at 7:41 pm
the match was okay but seriously, kelly does suck, all she does is cartwheels in all her matches,THIS IS NOT GYMNASTICS KELLY,try wrestling for once
ALICIA PLEASE EAT SOMETHING,this girl is going to have a lot of health problems down the road, she doesn’t eat,no one should be that skinny, she looks like a stick
alicia doe sell well but she reacts the same to every move thats done on her,one move on her and she’s all over the place,it gets annoying at one point
October 30, 2009 at 7:46 pm
why can’t jillian and melina get the ring time gail, alicia, and kelly are getting on superstars, all they get is 2 minutes every week on Raw involving comedy,it’s not fair,i’m positive they could have a good match
Jillian is the new top heel on Raw(all the reports and Vince said it) so why isn’t she getting to shine,I hope she does in the coming weeks,JILLIAN RULES!!!!!
alicias finsiher really sucks,it doesn’t even hurt, she needs a new one
October 30, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Alicia Fox is unique. Kelly Kelly isn’t. That’s why whenever the two step into the ring, I’ll always remember Fox first. Kelly Kelly’s just a newer, generic version of WWE’s favourite blonde template. Except, unlike Sable or Trish Stratus, she lacks both the character and natural ability to be as watchable. I’m really glad Alicia went over here. The match wasn’t awful, but Kelly was lagging for most of the way through it.
October 30, 2009 at 8:23 pm
The fact that they kept talking about how Kelly wants to become a broadcast journalist annoyed me. Shesgtting so much exposure in the wrestling world when this is something she doesn’t really want to do.
It reminded me of some kind of beauty padgeant. I dont think ive ever heard the comintators talk about stuff like that before.
October 30, 2009 at 9:09 pm
I have to disagree with MOST users who commented crap about this match.
TrishMelinaFan is probably the only one who actually said anything constructive. It’s a wrestling match, I’ve read it before about Eve looking exausted after a match…Well it’s scripted alright, but usually when you “fight” with someone you end up tired. What’s the deal with that? Even in the fcking game, when you win, the diva holds her stomach like it was a though match, so why get so upset over it?
And I’m starting to wonder what do you people need to watch to get satisfied!!! It was a good match, no botches that will ever be remembered or something of that matter.
And if you all hate so mutch watching the present WWE divas, why do you keep watching? It’s something that most of the media have to do in their lives… They need to judge others since they can’t seem to find time to judge themselves.
Peace. And fck the retards around here.
October 30, 2009 at 9:41 pm
I don’t she nothing wrong how Alicia sells. She and Melina are the best seller on RAW right now. I also don’t see nothing wrong about her weight yes, the girl is skinny but you can say that about Maryse and Michelle which Michelle is the skinest diva.
October 30, 2009 at 10:29 pm
WWE seriously needs to gives this girls unique quimicks!!! I am tired of seeing all the face smiling all the time and having all the heels as bitches (except Jillian). Seriously Maryse(Melina was way better thoug) is the only one and that can sell the bitchy quimick and the face are not even exciting! What the point of having so many girls if they all going to be the same! The best heel quimick in the past decade have been Mickie’s psycho one and Vickie’s presence and she is not even a diva. Please they need to try harder on this girls!
October 30, 2009 at 11:40 pm
pretty good showing by both divas
hopefully see more of these divas if not on Raw then hopefully and Superstars
i am abosolutely impressed with Alicia up to this point she is definitely a future champion
October 31, 2009 at 12:30 am
It’s funny how people were impressed by “flashy moves” when it was wrestlers like Lita doing them (and all she did well in the ring was a Moonsault and Hurricanrana – the rest of her moves were sloppy and looked bad so she relied on those 2 spots all the time), but someone like Kelly Kelly performs Hurricanranas and flip moves and it’s considered too much and to be a spot fest. It seems like it’s one rule for one, and one rule for another in most fans minds.
At least the girl is getting in there and having a go, she is putting her best efforts into learning and that is without hardly any time to work on her skills on the Indies. You’d all be ripping her apart if she wasn’t actually getting in the ring, if she was “just a valet” for example.
It just gets a bit too much when people are constantly nit-picking every little thing the girl does, they can not bare the fact that the so-called generic blonde is so over with the fans. But she is and no amount of bitching over the Internet about it will change that.
October 31, 2009 at 12:36 am
IMHO, Kelly Kelly just sucks.
October 31, 2009 at 1:07 am
“It’s funny how people were impressed by “flashy moves” when it was wrestlers like Lita doing them”
Back then Lita was the only women in North America that did moves like that, with the exception of a few Luchadoras that were working in the Texas area. So her moves were special back then. But nowadays those moves are very standard, almost every athletic women in the indies knows how to do them. So they lost their special feeling.
October 31, 2009 at 4:36 am
@kery246, when most of the women use ‘flashy” moves anymore, they at least have some basic in ring knowledge when performing them. It’s not ALL they do when in the ring. Plus anyone can do flashy moves nowadays so what Kelly is doing isn’t anything ‘top face’ worthy. I’ve seen every diva do her moveset and do it 10x better.
October 31, 2009 at 10:36 am
@ kerry426: It’s not that I can’t bear Kelly Kelly’s popularity – it’s totally typical of WWE – but I do find it confusing. There’s just no other argument to support her ascension other than her looks, because the girl doesn’t have what half of the wrestlers that don’t get pushed have. And again, while her spots may have excited when performed by Lita, that harked back to a time when the WWE wasn’t rife with so many patented vanilla. I agree with .MCH; her spots may get her through matches and over with fans, but I’ve seen other Divas perform them better.
November 2, 2009 at 1:56 am
The match was good to me. Decent. I don’t see a problem with it. Kelly Kelly did good as always but Alicia killed it. Oh and have you guys noticed that every since the short feud with Mickie James, Alicia has had to do barely anything to get heat?
