Recently signed FCW talent, Trinity McCray has been renamed in the developmental territory. She is now going by the name of Naomi Knight.
McCray made her in-ring debut for FCW television at this past week’s taping.
The name name is seemingly a play on Naomi Campbell; I wonder if WWE has a name book filled with racial stereotypes?

Her real name would’ve been far better than changing it, perhaps because they had Trinity in ECW they didn’t want to use her real name though.
They have named Zivile Raudoniene “Olga” in FCW – or so I read – another stereotypical name.

well, Diva-dirt this wasnt a FCW Tv Taping it was just a house show on October 30, 2009, and yes Olga aka Zivile Raudoniene made her FCW debut,

dont like the name, it doesnt suit her
you know when you look at someone and you think that name doesnt suit them,
she doesnt look like a naomi

I think WWE keeps their racial stereotypes name book next to their book on how all african american women have to be heel.

When I read the name change, it felt more like a generic porn star name as opposed to a racially sterotypical name. Seems like they’ve taken a page out of TNA’s playbook considering the names they’ve given to some of the Knockouts.

I like the name…
Thats Typical WWe always changing names just like Serena Debb!
I agree with Lee….Every African Amercian Women thats was in the wwe or is in there now were all heels….Jacqueline,Jazz,Shaniqua,Alicia,Layla…All Heels….and face for only a certain amount of time

the name naomi alone would of been fine but i have three problems:
1. why does everybody have to have a last name in wwe? i just think its unnecessary
2. every week people in fcw keep getting their names changed and its getting ridiculous and its confusing to fans.
3.why do the black chicks always gotta be heel whats up with that wwe i just dont get it at all.

Well at least her name isn’t gonna be Foxy something or Cleopatra Jones.

WWE likes making anyone who represents a minority a heel or racial stereotype.

Maybe she’ll carry a Blackberry and throw it at the Diva’s heads.

LOL @palaceofwisdom. Maybe she could have a different manager each week or so too. It’ll give her the full Naomi essence since they’re already on a roll xD

I don’t have a problem with Naomi. She looks like Tiffany’s big sister.

“1. why does everybody have to have a last name in wwe? i just think its unnecessary”
Probably marketing purposes. I dont think you can copyright a firstname only, but i’m not sure on that. And there will always be people on the indy circuit who use a similair name.

I know 2 white Naomi’s, so I don’t get your point in saying it’s racial stereotyping. Now, if they’d called her Bunifa Latifa Sharifa Jackson… That being said, I like the name.

Ha I loved Bunifa Latifah Sharifah Halifa Jackson, total sasspot! I don’t mind the name change, it might seem a bit racist but it does have a nice ring to it. Also, I prefer the fact she’s a heel at least if she is, she gets to have more personality, look at Alicia Fox for example, with DJ Gabriel she was allowed to dance but now she’s turned she’s been given permission….to speak! Plus, heel stars tend to have valets more than face ones, given her limited ability its likely that she will be put on someone.
I don’t think its necessarily stereotyped that black women are always heels, I mean Layla and Alicia have turned heel that’s true, if they were always a heel throughout their WWE life, I could understand what you’re saying because its setting something in stone and saying it can’t be changed, but the fact of the matter is that they have. TNA seemed to have escaped scorn with the Kong-Tourage, which no one seemed to criticise.
