Is It Time to Drop Jillian vs Melina?

Three weeks. Three botch-filled matches. Is it time to take this one out back and shoot it in the head?

The prospect of Jillian versus Melina for the Divas Championship is mark-out material on paper; these two Divas have worked up the ranks together and until now, have never had a full-on feud for a title on WWE television. Though they worked together previously on SmackDown, it’s safe to say right now they are both at their peak. One’s a three time Women’s Champion and current Divas Champ while the other has just gotten the break of her career — she’s finally the top heel on Raw and won a title, however briefly she may have held it. On paper, this could have been a great feud.

The reality however, is far different. The three short matches these two Divas have worked together, have been for the most part, abysmal. The botches that have occured in each would be expected of the greener Divas on the same roster such as Eve, Kelly and Alicia — not two veteran Divas. In their last match alone, last week’s mixed tag match, the pair botched every spot they did.

While Jillian & Melina can’t control their circumstance, sadly it seems they’ve been lumbered with Chavo, Santino and Hornswoggle as the comic relief for the week on Raw, they can control what they do in the ring. And unfortunately, it just isn’t up to par. Part of the reason for the Diva Trade was because of botches during matches on Raw and seemingly, Jillian and Melina were given a vote of confidence to help change that — instead they’ve fallen victim to the status quo. It isn’t as though they can’t work together on live television, I thought their Judgment Day 2006 match outshone the highly regarded Trish-Mickie match at WrestleMania 22 that same year. So where is it going wrong and is it time to call it quits?

As much as we at Diva Dirt have been pushing for this feud to work out for both talented wrestlers, there’s no denying that this isn’t working. I think WWE needs to call time on this one now and move into a new programme. Sadly, it’ll be the long-underrated Jillian that gets the brunt of it, as she’ll likely move back down into a jobber spot while the Divas Champ, Melina gets a shiny new toy to play with. But they had their chance and blew it.

Melina and Alicia Fox have worked incredibly well together in the past on SmackDown and Fox has more than held her own on Raw against Mickie, Gail, Kelly and others. Therefore, that to me would be the next logical step.

Either way, I never thought I’d say this but I’m ready for Jillian and Melina to be done.

I can only decide myself on this one when Melina and Jillian get a long singles match, their matches on RAW have been so short and rushed, it just looks sloppy and like they’re getting told to “speed up” the divas segments, which sucks. So, when, if, Melina and Jillian get a long singles match without Horny involved I’ll make my decision, for now, I’d want to see a bit more…

NO because this may be jillians last chance at stardom, her WWE career feels like it’s just starting and despite losing every week to Melina, she is getting pushed and at the end of the day, thats all that matters, who knows when or if Jillian will ever get pushed again,if this fued ends,it’s REALLY more of an end for Jillian, not melina because she’s the champ

these 2 havn’t even had a REAL singles match yet,all there matches are 2 minute comedy fests,I think if there given a 5-6 minutes,I think they can pull off a great match

and also,2 weeks ago on Raw when Jillian got her REMATCH for the divas title(when jillian wore gold and melina wore Red),that match didn’t have ANY botches at all,it was a pretty good match despite only being a minute

    heres the match:

so the only botches they really had was the leg drop spilt 3 weeks ago and the tag match last week, thats not bad

Maybe tonight is the night. Maybe they will finally have the match they desperatly need!

I don’t want this feud to end, it didn’t even start yet! Alicia is awesome, but she is still so fresh!!! It’s probably Jillian’s last year with WWE ( :-( ), so I really hope they give her at least just one more chance tonight!

I voted NO, it could still become a good feud, but they need to work some houseshows together. They havent worked together in ages and they are expected to rush all spots into 2 minutes, combine that with Jillian only working 1 show/month until a few weeks ago. Thats not going to work. So delay the feud for now, but dont throw it out together.

But i do predict a Gail-Alicia or Melina-Alicia match tonight on raw. Creative must’ve noticed all the botches as well, so it would be strange if they put them back out there again.

Or maybe we get a Gail/Melina vs Jillian/Alicia tonight.

reason for this botchness by both melina and jillian cause there both given 1 min and have to end the match.there been rushed .there both usually consistent but they need like 6-7mins and they have a a gud match
if i were booking 2nite i wouldnt do a singles match ill do a tag match like melina&kelly vs jillian&alicia then set up a singles match

Yea I don’t really think its fare to state “they botched EVERY move” last week when they had what, 2 moves? If the WWE are writers are actually hoping Melina & Jillian can put an end to the Raw divas botching all the time, they for sure need to give them more ring time.. Alicia is a decent worker but is still to green to be in the title hunt – I think the Jillian/Melina feud will continue until the return of Maryse.

Me being an Alicia Fox mark says hell yes. Push Jillian out the way, and go get what’s your’s FOX!

But than, I think before that needs to be done – they still need to give Alicia personality. I like the little ” fox claw ” mannerisms and taunts she was doing on Superstars. They need to build her back up.

I really feel sorry for Jillian. But at the same time, it’s hilarious how people measure botches and bad chemistry and try to give excuse to it. RAW is still their flagship show and they probably won’t tolerate it. So if Jillian & Melina can’t get on the same page, than say hi to Alicia Fierce.

I hope not, I want Jillian to get the title.. The Hornswoggle stuff needs to be dropped though.

I love Jillian & I love Melina but I don’t love their feud.
Perhaps it’s time to drop it, or maybe bring someone else into it, like Gail or Alicia.

As far as I’m concerned, there hasn’t been a Jillian-Melina feud. There’s just no way you can really class it as that. Yes, theyve had three matches, but all of them were over in seconds with Melina gaining ridiculously simple wins. Jillian has not been a serious challenger at all, sadly. She has instead been booked as a bit of a joke to just job to melina. Shame.

I think their matches the last few weeks will lead WWE to give them even less time, not more, as a short match means you have less stuff to try, therefore less to mess up. If you screw up badly in 1-2 minutes, WWE probably won’t trust you to handle 4-5.

    @MarBu13 : I agree with you.

Jillian/Melina matches are awful simple as that. So, please give us some more Alicia and no she isn’t green in the ring not at all. I hope WWE build her up more and have Melina and Alicia match.

alicia is so young(23 I think),she has so much time to get a push so theres rush at all, jillian on the other hand has been patient for years and deserves this push.Alicia just got a push last month and got a PPV title, that was more then generous, people need to stop pushing this whole alicia thing, she’s good but she isn’t great

xxChristinaxx-The last three Jillian/Melina matches have been awful, but all of their other matches have been either solid or amazing,so I disagree with you on that one, hon.

MarBu13-I love me some Ms.Foxy too,but it’s not her time.

I think Melina and Jillian haven’t been given the right platform to showcase their talent.BUT,I also think that if you’re going to give us a two-minute match, give us the best damn two minute match this side of the world’s ever seen!I mean,in the end, what happens in the ring is up to the workers, and they just haven’t done what was expected.Overall, let them have a REAL match, although you can’t really call any diva matches REAL matches.

RKOyou-WRONG.Alicia is awesome.I’m sure you’ll agree,I mean, just check out some of her past few matches with Gail,Melina,Mickie, and most importantly,Angela.

I voted yes. This whole “feud” is a joke. Jillian was a vehicle to get the divas title off of Mickie and onto Melina; that’s it. She’s not winning that title back and we all know it. Even if it wasn’t obvious to everyone at first, the writing was on the wall once they paired her up with Chavo ‘I can’t even beat a midget’ Guerrero. WWE had years to do something with Jillian and they didn’t so what makes anyone think they’re going to push her now? At this point in her tenure they’re not going to be pushing Jillian over girls like Alicia and Eve. The only reason this Melina/Jillian thing hasn’t been dropped yet is that they’re probably just trying to kill time until Maryse comes back.

I will decide if they get a propper match tonight. A match which lasts a “decent” amount of time and doesn’t involve Hornswoggle or Santino.

Scrap it…Melina works well with the McCool’s and the Phoenix’s of the world…not the Hall’s anymore

“The only reason this Melina/Jillian thing hasn’t been dropped yet is that they’re probably just trying to kill time until Maryse comes back.”

I think the idea of WWE killing time until Maryse’s return could apply to practically everything Diva-related on Raw since she left. They put a lot of effort and time into her angle with Mickie, then once Maryse left TV, practially no effort at all from the creative team for the rest of the women on Raw.

ughh i don’t see the big deal about maryse, she sucks, even kelly kelly is better then her(I can’t believe I said that)

if this is really true inside WWE that there waiting for maryse, then WWE seriously needs help, Maryse is just one diva out of a SEA of divas, she’s not the crown jewel, she’s just another heel diva, theres no rule that says when she get injured, you automatically get a push when you come back(unless your john cena or triple h,I hate them)

Im willing to give Jillian and Melina one last match to prove that their feud can hold up…in the start i was all for this fued…but with the past 3 weeks its clear that….well you know….

If they do decided to move on…I would say Go with The Sexy Talented Alicia Fox…I would have Alicia beat Melina for the title at the End of December. So 2010 and can be alicia’s year

  • Goodnightddtmnm
    November 3, 2009 at 2:28 am

Whatever the case its Alicia’s Fox’s time if mayrse had her time then hell so can alicia she can do bigger and better than Mayrse,Kelly,Eve and Rosa ever could do in a year…

Some wrestlers just don’t mesh together. I don’t know if one is more to blame than the other. Just bad chemistry. I’d split Melina and Jillian up. Or do tag matches but not let them work the finish together.

For as long as she’s been with the company, Jillian’s added nothing of late. And she won’t ever again. Either let her go or strictly have her put over young divas like Eve, Alicia, and Kelly. Kinda what Goldust and Tommy Dreamer do now.

WWE pulled the plug to soon on Jillian and Melina. Sure, they had some bad matches, but the conditions for those matches were crap. It wasn’t an legit feud.

In retrospect, maybe this pairing not working out was foreshadowed. I had forgotten about this, but six days prior to this year’s Royal Rumble, Melina and Jillian had a match on Raw where there were botches just as bad as the recent ones.
