Hoping to keep her momentum going following last week’s #1 contendership win, Alicia Fox takes on the woman she beat not too long ago on WWE Superstars, Kelly Kelly. Will this match shine or pale in comparison to that bout? Let us see:
Inexplicably, Gail Kim and Jillian are at ringside, supporting their Survivor Series teammates. I’ll assume that’s the reasoning for this, because there really isn’t any other. The match starts with both girls getting in the other’s face, both looking pretty sassy. Alicia wins the sassy contest, however, because she outright pie-faces Kelly. Kelly responds with a Lous Thesz press, pounding on Alicia’s head. A bit groggy, Alicia wanders over to the corner, drawing Kelly over and sending her face-first into the turnbuckle with a drop toe hold.
She continues the facial punishment by slamming Kelly’s face to the mat and attempting a pin, which Kelly kicks out of. Kelly attempts to find some salvation in the ropes but Alicia drags her to the center of the ring as Melina (or should I say one side of Melina’s face) watches on from backstage. Melina seems impressed, but also kind of like she’s plotting murder, rubbing her hands together in evil speculation.
Alicia plants a boot into Kelly’s midsection, preening for the crowd before dragging Kelly up by her hair. Kelly fights for control though, delivering a few shots to Alicia’s stomach. Alicia puts an end to this offense, sending her to the mat with a clothesline. She again grabs Kelly by her Barbie doll locks (careful, you might pull out a few), pancaking her face to the mat. She locks Kelly into a sleeper, and Kelly fights for freedom as the crowd slowly gets behind her. She gets to her feet and drops to her backside, sending Alicia’s jaw straight onto her shoulder, breaking her free. She goes on a string of offense, ending in a Frankensteiner that she hooks into a pin for a 2-count.
Though unsuccessful in her pin attempt Kelly doesn’t let Alicia get far, hitting her finisher and latching Alicia into an overzealous pin that I assume Alicia was supposed to kick out of, but had difficulty doing so in her sandwiched position. She skirts out of it, sloppy though it may be, and sends Kelly into the top rope with a modified flapjack. Kelly crawls to the center of the ring and Alicia strikes, hitting her scissors kick (though that hit her shoulder blades more than anything), getting the pin and the win. Alicia celebrates with her sudden buddy Jillian as Kelly is consoled by the woman we wish would turn heel on her.
This match, over in about 2 bats of an eye, wasn’t half as long as their Superstars match and as a result had about half of the quality as well. The match felt far from smooth, featuring a few botches, which unfortunately have become a regular thing on Raw. Also a regular thing was the expedited feel of the match–the Divas are given a small sliver of show time and must fit their matches in the few moments DX can stand not to jump onscreen. I’m not sure the match was even long enough for the fans to take a piss break. Overall it just felt like time that could have been better spent building up to Alicia’s title shot next week. There’s not much buildup in Alicia beating a Diva she already beat a few weeks ago and Melina standing by a television monitor and smirking. Based on the buildup, I don’t hold much hope for the feud itself. Odds are, it’ll last about as long as this match did.

yay fox.bye kelly.alicia next divas champ

I didn’t enjoy this match at all!! Too sloppy and slow paced.

I really don’t think they should have the title match next week. Give it some time, WWE. spend next week building up the SS match somehow, and hell even throw in some Alicia/Melina teasers during the SS match. Just me or has there been no real change since the recent draft that was supposed to “shake things up”? I just want a real feud, not some random no.1 contender every month won through the same old batte royal-esque match who then goes on to lose two weeks down the line.
As for the match itself, quite disappointing after hearing how Gail and Jillian were at ringside – I was stupidly expecting them to actually do something. Kicking out of (or trying to) Kelly’s finisher just made her look even weaker rather than it made Alicia look strong. I actually think Alicia herself can do with a new finisher, I only remember one time she’s hit it near flawlessly.
I guess it’s true what I’ve heard so often of late – WWE putting the RAW division on hold until Maryse’s return and quite obvious title reclaim.

Alicia Cena

On a side-note, I hope next week’s title match isn’t as sloppy/botch-filled as Fox/Melina’s recent singles matches on the tour.

The match was very slow but it was much better than Melina and Jillian matches that very sad. They have some botches but so did Melina and Jillian did but this match was so much better. The pin they did was very sloppy I don’t know why because of Alicia or Kelly.
I like how Kelly did her finisher on Alicia but she kick out of hit.HA!
They didn’t build up the diva title match so I doubt this would be feud. But what the reason why have Alicia facing Melina but not a feud for the title?
But it would be VERY socking if Alicia win the title next Monday noone expecte her to win but BOOM she won. It would be very amazing if Alicia win it. Because on McCool team Michelle is the woman champ and maybe Alicia would be the diva champ. On just one team.

“I guess it’s true what I’ve heard so often of late – WWE putting the RAW division on hold until Maryse’s return and quite obvious title reclaim”.
I never heard that for ANY reliable source or anybody wrestling website.
Honest, if WWE do that they DON’T really care for the DIVAS at all.

Does anyone else think Melina isn’t the captain of her SSeries team because she’ll lose the title to Alicia next week?
November 10, 2009 at 10:48 am
No i dont think melina is not captain because she is going to lose the title even if alicia won she would not be captain because she is still on the heel side of things mickie is captain because there is stuff going on with her and michelle disapointing womens match again i am giving up on raw altogether it is so stupid at the moment and the women mean nothing i am sorry no disrespect to alicia but she is not ready at all for titles that spot should be gail kims and i think everybody knows it alicia has a great future but she can not carry matches which means more botch fests and i am sick of them vince should be pushing the right women

What a surprise, Fox gets another crappy 2 week feud so that Maryse can return the night after Survivor Series and take a push she doesn’t deserve
November 10, 2009 at 12:32 pm
LOL ALICIA’S BOTCH KICK OUT.
November 10, 2009 at 12:33 pm
the match was terrible, alicia totally botched kellys finisher, her face didn’t even hit the floor and then the sloppy pin,and some others,I guess the Raw diva botches continue(sigh)
I love the Jillian/Alicia buddy thing going on,from the house show reports,it’s showing Jillian is not done with melina yet,she can’t win the title back because alicia is the number one contender so she’s helping alicia because she doesn’t want melina to have it,Gail accompanied kelly because there apparently BBF’s
no,I don’t think alicia will win the title next week

They should move all diva matches to Superstars where they get more than 3 minutes. These short matches only result in the divas rushing their signature moves and thus creating lots of botches. It has been a long time since we actually saw a good match on raw.
And i wouldnt mind seeing Alicia win the title. That title doesnt mean much anyway, it’s like the intercontinental title for the men. And with all the bad matches Mickie and Melina had the past few months, i dont think it matters much if Alicia is “ready” or not. Either way it’s not going to change the diva division on Raw.

Horrible match slow and boring…..I just love how all of you people overate Alicia Fox seriously she is good at selling moves other then that there’s nothing there imo.

Does Anyone Else Get Pissed Off At Michael Cole’s Commentary During Divas Matches? He Is Making Kelly Sound Like A Miss World Contestant When He Talks About Her Wanting To Become A Broadcast Journalist After Her Career Is Over (Which Considering She Is Only 22 Is A Long Way A Way Surely)
And Melina New To Raw (Ok I Know She Just Moved Back) But Melina Was On Raw For Years And Was Only On Smackdown For About 5 Months! What A Knob!
Love The Pic Of Alicia In Mid Scissor Kick Mode!
November 10, 2009 at 4:46 pm
Glad Alicia Won but the match was botchy and slow paced.
I didnt expect the match to be next week but its like everyone said this si just a 2 week fued for Alicia until Mayrse comes back and gets her big push. Well guys it was fun while it lasted Jillian and Alicia had there fun. Ah well
Jillian looked sexy btw
November 10, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Not a bad match, but not the best… I didn’t really understand the whole Jillian/Gail ringside thing.
And also, what’s happened with the Miz/Eve/Swagger storyline? Was that just a one week thing, because I thought that looked promising…
November 10, 2009 at 6:51 pm
i didn’t know jillian and alicia were best friends. how odd. I would have loved for jillian to have raised alicias hand, then kicked her in the gut and dropped her with a ddt
November 10, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Not terrible, could have been a lot worse but a total snooze-fest.
November 10, 2009 at 7:26 pm
@randallsnow19: totally agree with you, A. Fox is OK but really overrated by a lot of ppl on this site.. and what the hell was up with her hair last night?? WWE still has hair and make-up people, right?? Either way, the Foxxy one is 100% filler (for now) until the french Canadian beauty Maryse comes back to reclaim her divas title!
November 10, 2009 at 7:30 pm
The botch fest continues. I’m starting to think that the divas just don’t care any more cuz wwe sure don’t care about them. And because wwe gives the divas little ring time they rush to hit every spot which makes for a botch filled match. To me raw just sucks. I wanna stop watching but i cant due to the fact i think something awesome might happen but… oh yeah @ stephens61086 Micheal Cole is very annoying during all the matches he calls. Especially when he say Vintage john cena etc.
November 10, 2009 at 7:31 pm
People do overate alicia,it’s 100% true, she’s good but people act like shes the best damn diva to ever step foot in the ring and thats not true, her skinny body does make her selling more flashy which people tend to forget
I like alicia but i don’t put her that high on the pole like most people do
November 10, 2009 at 8:02 pm
I think Alicia Fox is decent at best and needs another year or two before she becomes the “face” of any division and is awarded a championship.
November 10, 2009 at 8:13 pm
I literally blinked and it was over, there was nothing interesting about this match, it was pointless. If anything it showed the shitty condition of the RAW Divas division. I want Maryse to come back, at least she’s a decent heel. Alicia bores me as does Jillian. Either improve Maryse’s in ring ability or turn Gail heel! God.
November 10, 2009 at 10:42 pm
Mikas-I would say the last really amazing divas match on Raw was the fatal four way with Gail,Beth,Alicia, and Kelly.
mr_socko-LOL!I would totally LOVE for that to happen,I would be marking out to the max!
I think people put Alicia high on the totem people because compared to more than half of the divas division, she IS that great.
Man,I feel so stupid for having high hopes about the Gail/Jillian thing. When will I ever learn?I seriously want Gail to hit Kelly Kelly repeatedly in the face!Gosh that girl annoys me….
Overall,Raw sucks,plain and simple.
