The Tiffany Guide to Impact: Business Just Picked Up…Kinda

Posted by Tiffany on November 14th, 2009

With Knockouts pushed into the headlines and into the unemployment line this week, this has proven to be a rather dim past several days for TNA.  In an effort to boost the Knockouts’ morale, the Tiffany Guide makes its long-awaited return – still finding a way into your hearts via a computer screen and still bringing in more ratings than Impact!

This week, the Original Knockout Traci Brooks takes on The Future Legend Alissa Flash.

As the very dashing Alissa Flash makes her way to the ring, it’s a wonder why she’s all covered up.  Here I thought the Raisha Saeed gimmick was dropped weeks ago.  Why so not flashy, Miss Flash?

Trish, I mean, Marys- erm, I mean Traci saunters into the ring and the match goes underway.  What starts off as a shoving competition turns into a test of strength as Traci is bullied into the corner.  Alissa retaliates with a corner foot choke and a swift kick to the arm.  Traci tries to discourage Alissa’s advances, but Alissa catches her with a few more shots.  Alissa targets the damaged arm with an arm wrench and then a shoulder breaker.  The onslaught continues with a Complete Shot (reverse STO) and an armbar.  Traci quickly taps out, and Alissa picks up the win.  As Alissa Flash celebrates her victory, Traci Brooks takes offense to the Future Legend’s cerebral tactics and blindsights her after the match.

While this was a brief match-up, I was impressed with the amount of character both ladies were able to exude in the allotted time slot.  While Alissa continues to prove her clout as the Future Legend, Traci refuses to succumb to the inevitable black hole that was predicted to become of her career post the Playboy de-push.  It was a decent showing for both competitors.  Besides, a little emotion never hurt anyone.  If anything, it would be a refreshing change to see a heel vs. heel rivalry spell out of this.  Though, all things considered, it will most likely be dropped.  This is TNA, after all.

Next in Knockout action pits ODB, Sarita, Taylor Wilde, and Tara against the Beautiful People (Velvet Sky/Madison Rayne/Lacey von Erich) and Awesome Kong.

Tara and Madison Rayne start off the match.  Madison Rayne dazzles us with her best Terri Runnels/Rick Rude impression.  Though, her showboating is short-lived as Tara takes her down into a bridging chin lock submission.  Instead of capitalizing, Tara opts to make the tag out to Taylor Wilde.  With a Double Axle Handle from the top, Taylor sustains the arm wrench maneuver.  The babyface team continues to cut the ring in half as Sarita gets tagged in.  Taylor lays Madison out on the mat with a rolling fireman’s carry slam.  She then assists her partner Sarita with a moonsault.  There appears to be some hesitance in the move (as with a good handful of Taylorita’s unrefined offense); Taylor is not tall enough to assist her partner into that particular maneuver flawlessly.  Nonetheless, Madison kicks out of the pinning predicament and makes a quick tag out to Lacey von Erich.  Take a good look at your (possible) next Knockouts Champion, folks!

Taz’s anticlimactic response, “Business just picked up…kinda,” perfectly describes Lacey’s rather half-assed attempt to lock up with Sarita.  Lacey attacks Sarita in the corner and seems at a brief loss as to what to do next.  The action finally picks up when Sarita the Hedgehog fluidly dodges Lacey’s offense.  However, Lacey catches her with a boot to the midsection and covers her for a 2-count.  Lacey leads Sarita into the opposing corner, and a tag to Velvet is seemingly made as Impact fades to commercial. (Smart move, TNA)

Back from the break, we see Velvet take the fight to her imminent opponent at Turning Point.  Velvet takes a moment to knock her other competition off the ring apron, giving Sarita the opportunity to avoid her advances and respond with a front dropkick of her own.  Both Sarita and Velvet tag out.  In comes the current Knockouts champion who takes out the legal lady, Madison Rayne, as well as her beautiful counterparts.  ODB then unleashes the fury (behind the push-up bra) upon both Velvet and Madison.  Velvet then suffers a fate I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy – a private panty exhibition from ODB.  Which goes to prove that some of Victoria’s secrets are best kept unbeknown.

With a fallaway slam to Madison Rayne followed by a kip-up, ODB falls into a clothesline delivered by Lacey von Erich from behind.  Lacey tries her luck with Tara, but suffers a slap straight to the kisser for her troubles.  Tara gets rather overexcited and walks right into a cheap shot from Awesome Kong.  Kong coerces a tag from Madison Rayne and immediately begins to produce carnage in the center of the ring.  Meanwhile, Taylor Wilde flies into Awesome Kong like an ill-fated bird into a properly waxed Plexiglas window.  Kong attempts to put Taylor away with the Awesome Bomb, but Taylor counters.  Landing on her feet, she tries for a few shots, but Kong captures her and spins her into a dynamic Implant Buster.  With no chance of kicking out, Taylor Wilde is pinned for the 3-count.

As the Beautiful People celebrate their victory, Lacey von Erich’s attempts to share the love with Kong are squandered by her beautiful comrades who pull her to safety.

This is nothing unlike what we’ve seen from the Knockouts lately, but for what it’s worth, this match did its job of creating some tension going into Turning Point.  As far as the Tara/Kong feud goes, I’ve been requesting an end to this plot for what seems like an eternity.  The ball is prepared to fall into either court, really.  In comparison, the Beautiful People haven’t been made to look very strong going into their match against Sarita/Taylor and ODB.  Moreover, Lacey von Erich hasn’t made too many strides as far as her ring work goes.  While the possibility of her walking out of Turning Point as the next Knockouts Champion is enough to shiver me timbers, I wouldn’t put it passed the absolute booking artistry that is TNA.

Lacey is atleast improving……she is not going to become the fabulous moolah over night folks

Despite giving her the initial benefit of the doubt, I have yet to see much improvement in Lacey’s moveset beside the textbook basic mat moves. Does she show competence in the ring? Somewhat. Is it much of an improvement since her first couple nights on the broadcast? Eh, not so much. I doubt many folks’ standards for Lacey match that of the Fabulous Moolah (as you put it), but the minimum quality expected for someone going into a major PPV title match would be nice. I know in TNA world “at least” may qualify as good enough, but I politely disagree.

It’s always the Knockout matches who suffer from the commercial breaks :(

Didnt ODB and Tara just have a feud together? Kinda strange to see them on the same team so soon already.

I hope we get to see some interesting matches tomorrow at the PPV.

One of Lacey’s biggest problems is her lack of selling. Last week when she was choking Taylor with the ugly stick, it didn’t look like she was applying any pressure at all. Same with this week when she locked up with Sarita. It was as if she wasn’t even trying to overpower her. That alone will work wonders for her covering up her suckage. Just look at all the praise good selling has garnered Alicia Fox.

Lacey just seemed so lost in the ring. Each individual move didn’t look so bad, it was just the sequence in which they were done. Its like the match paused in between each blow, like she forgot what to do next. Perhaps that’s why TNA has seemingly made her character oblivious? Thinking it would explain her hesitance in the ring. Though, her going to hug Kong was too adorable.

The tag match was fine, when Lacey wasn’t involved. There’s just NO way to defend this girl. They get rid of Rhaka Khan, only to bring in another clueless dud. At least Velvet Sky can be passable when she tries. It’s just painful watching her. She has no ring sense and her selling and bumping are just ridiculous. Do the right thing TNA, and make sure all the faces retain at Turning Point, if it means keeping Lazy Von Erich away from the titles.

Alissa/Traci was interesting though short. Glad Flash won. Don’t know who the face was supposed to be, but the fans are REALLY behind The Future Legend. I hope people tweeted Dixie to push her when she sent out that message about what changes should be made. The woman is a machine and that’s a compliment ;) Either sign Del Rey and team her up with Flash so they can chase the tag titles, or put her in the single’s title race by early 2010.

Yeah true her move set hasn’t really expanded, but she needs to learn to walk before she can run. Once she gets the basics down solid, I think we will see more depth in her arsenal. My point is just that she is improving, and thats all you can really expect from her at this point is just to improve. Her clotheslines are much better for example, and she seems to be getting more comfortable in the ring. I mean she has only been with training with TNA for probably about almost 2 months, and we don’t know how often she is training with them, I assume it is every time they meet for tapings.

I completely agree with you on your point that she should not be in a title match on a PPV. It’s too risky at this point considering it’s live tv.

and just to clarify I wasn’t saying she is going to be the next fabulous moolah, I was just trying to say she isn’t going to be amazing over night….it will take time and practice.

Lacey has improved, you could see she was trying not to mess up in the match which shows her dedication.I’m not worried this sunday at all,i’m sure all the champions will retain

I just love it when alissa flash wins,as for the outfit, she didn’t have a blue top to match her blue shorts and socks so she picked the color that goes with any other color and thats black, good choice and I liked the outfit honestly,it made her look mysterious.

Trying not to mess up = dedication? I’m not so sure about that. Lacey may have shown some ‘progress,’ but as I said, it’s not much of an improvement. We’ve already established that Lacey can do the bare minimum. Had she just begun wrestling, it’d be somewhat understandable (thought I’d still very much question TNA’s motives). However, she hasn’t only just started training. Lacey came into TNA with prior wrestling training. So, what skills she exudes in the ring now are pretty much the extent of what she has already learned. She’s not as green or new to the ring people seem to portray her as. I’ve given Lacey the benefit of the doubt in the past, but despite the excuses, I think her mediocre workrate speaks for itself.

Man rhaka blonde i mean lacey sucks, She’s a big girl she needs to use her height to her advantage. She doesn’t sell anyone’s moves and she is so ashley massaro esque in the ring. Just waiting for these 6 long months to fly bye. And if anyone is saying lacey is improving in the ring here’s my choice of words for them bye girl fly girl!

Alissa finally wins a damn match! Yay! I certainly hope all of you tweeted Dixie Carter and told her to push Alissa like I did. I REALLY hope this is the start of a push for her as the fans love her and this push of the Beautiful People has GOT to end. TBP have been pushed to the moon for a looooooong time despite the fact that they haven’t delivered in the ring in the slightest. It is time for someone else to get a chance, damn it.

Tiffany you should be fired because you don’t write or say anyting positive about the knockouts.
The guide to impact should be written by someone like erin or the other guys.
    TNA Rules.
You Tiffany are a not TNA fan.
The guide was enjoyable when you weren’t there.
Lacey Sucks and she will be fired in 6 months.
So tiffany why don’t you jump in lake so that fans won’t have read your negative comments every week

Loving Alissa Flash so much…The Future Legend & Knockouts Champion!

The Tag Match wasnt anything special to me but i liked at the end when Madison and Velvet pulls Lacey back when she tries to give Kong a hug lol.. They should have let her go

lacey is terribly green. she was only with wwe developmental for a few months, and before signing with tna only had a handful of indy dates (i’m not sure what matches she taped for wrestlicious). putting it in perspective, and comparing her to others (like maria) who’ve been wrestling twice as long or even kelly/rosa, she’s good for what she knows. in my eyes, melina has looked worse than lacey has the past couple months. saying that, i still don’t like her that much. hopefully any wrestling she does do will be against the likes of sarita who can sell pretty much anything and not the christy’s of tna.

it was interesting to hear mike tenay/taz comment on traci’s disability.. i wonder if it’ll be wrote into her story and if so, how it’ll affect her character.

Lavadius, you can do one of two things: You can A) do yourself (and me) a favor by stop reading my articles, or you can B) cry yourself to sleep every time you see a Tiffany Guide get posted up. Your choice. Either one will suffice, really. Though you seem to be doing a pretty good job on the latter. Keep up the good work!

Yes, Lacey is “new.” However, the way fans speak about her, you’d think she’d just stepped into the ring the first time she made an appearance in TNA. Which clearly isn’t the case. I wouldn’t dream of comparing her to Rosa or Alicia simply because despite their inexperience, they have been trained extensively. And in Alicia’s case, it shows.

Wow Tiff, you must be doing something right to get that kind of reaction out of Lavasdcvasdaflsjs. Awesome. Tiff’s guides to TNA are a big reason why I come to this site, otherwise I wouldn’t be caught up in what’s going on there.

I really enjoyed Madison’s work in this match (as of late I’ve been particularly fond of Rayne). Lacey seemed to kill whatever momentum they had going in this match. She really needs to work more on her basics. Not too bad of a match overall.

If people are going to be harsh about other peoples reviews, they shouldn’t come on this sight. Tiffany, I love your ‘guides’, so don’t listen to Mr Negativity.

On the wrestling side, I haven’t seen a lot of Lacey in-ring action, but she looked uncomfortable and kind of slow and lost. Even so, I think she’s okay on the mic, and I loved her trying to hug Kong, ha.

Im sorry, I don’t care if Lacey has “improved.” The bottom line is she shouldn’t be on television yet. She’s below developmental level, and it’s easy to see why WWE let her go despite her looks.

You can be a fan and at the same time be critical about the product. 2009 has been a very bad year for the knockouts, compared to 2007/2008. Ever since Gail left (the knockout division was build around her and Kong) the knockouts lost direction and we ended up with dozens of random matchups, storylines that didnt go anywhere and meaningless title changes.

I’m sure that eventually the knockout division will be great again (especially if Alissa becomes more involved), but even the biggest TNA-fanboy has to admit that 2009 was very bad year. The only good matches we had this year were the ones that involved Alissa, Hamada or Sarita.

  • RKOyou

Mikas-I agree, the only good knockout matches this year for 2009 were the only ones that had sarita, alissa, hamada, and kinda Tara.Without these 4 girls,i would be a 100% WWE diva fan honestly

as for Lacey, she should stick to working with sarita because whenever lacey gets to work with her, sarita makes her look like gold. If you put lacey with someone like christy hemme, well then your asking for a train-wreck
