TNA Signs British Wrestler Sweet Saraya?

TNA have signed British wrestler, Sweet Saraya, also known as Saraya Knight, reports the Wrestling Observer.

The 36 year old is well known on the British independent circuit and has wrestled TNA’s Alissa Flash in Real Quality Wrestling.

Earlier this year, she was featured on a one-off show called ‘The Wrestler’ starring popular British TV personality, Justin Lee Collins.

EDIT: Our own Women of Wrestling Podcast host, Stew Allen informs us that the above news is incorrect. Stew spoke to Saraya at length last week and tells us that the Wrestling Observer, which originally made the report, was given bad information. Apologies for the error and thanks to Stew for doing some digging for us.

I know her from Queens of Chaos, she is on the same dvd as Nikita (Katie Lea).

She knows how to wrestle, but i can’t really say she is better than the many indy wrestlers in north america. So i guess TNA primarily wanted her because she is british? I can’t think of any other reason. Although personally i would’ve gone for Jetta, who is a great wrestler and still very young (= great investment for the future) ;-)

36 is pretty old,BIG MISTKAE BY TNA,she’s already the second oldest knockout behind Tara.TNA should be like WWE and hire woman under 28,I mean TNA hired Lacey and she’s 23 but cant wrestler,TNA hires Saraya who can wrestler but is too old

Was that JLC show the one where he became lots of different professions? I didn’t watch it but I was going to.

36 seems like a slightly, um, older age to sign a new talent.
Well, if she’s a good wrestler I guess it doesn’t matter that much.

great news. if hamada is indeed turning full fledged heel, her and saraya could make quite the ko team for world elite. or they could even pair her up with nigel. if it is just because she’s british, i agree that jetta would’ve been a better idea (i can’t help but adore her) but as it stands, all’s well. as for her age, well, i’m just glad tna don’t overlook talent because of that.

I think TNA might have screwed up a little, yes it is good that she can wrestle, but the age is also a magor facter 36 is old in wrestling.

WO took down this info straight after they put it up. So it may be false.

    “36 is old in wrestling”

Old in mainstream wrestling yes, but not in the us indies, mexico or japan. Especially in Japan the better female wrestlers are in their 30s, some even continue to wrestle well into their 40s. Age was never really an issue in wrestling, until WWE became dominant. Building new stars costs time and money, so for a company like WWE its more profitable to invest in young wrestlers than in wrestlers in their 30s who might only have a few years left.

If she was just signed for the British Invasion, I would have signed Lisa Fury. Shes a 3rd Generation Wrestler, former fitness/glamour model, and recently jobbed to Beth Phoenix on SmackDown as Lisa Taylor.

regardless of her age, her in ring experience is more important.all you guys are complaining about is the fact she is 36..wow she is 36 who cares the fabulous moolah wrestled most of her like and nobody complained because she could still put on a show and she helped put over alot of young talent.jacqueline is in her 40′s and still gets in the ring sometimes.age is nothing but a number.if youre 49years old and still can put on a show then you should still be in the ring but if youre 49 and barely moving then no.

I like the idea of signing a european wrestler. Why not sign blue nikta?

My Women Of Wrestling colleague Stew Allen spoke at length with Sweet Saraya on Saturday night, and this wasn’t mentioned. Since then, he’s informed me that the WO was given bad information, and there is no truth behind this story at all.

By the way, for you WoW fans, we’re pretty sure that we’ve secured our guest for show #4. It’s coming.
