Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool recently celebrated five years as a WWE Diva and to mark the occasion, sat down with our friends at MichelleMcCool.net for a Q&A. Perhaps most interestingly, McCool counts down her top five moments during her time in WWE:

1.) My first WM moment……just being there was a feeling I will NEVER forget!

2.) Becoming the 1st ever Divas Champion….proved to myself that persistence and passion certainly pay off!

3.) Becoming Women’s Champion – if you’d of told me this 10 years ago, I probably would’ve called you crazy!

4.) My NOC match with Melina….it is to date my favorite match of all time that I have had – I was just so happy with both of us for putting together a match that really told a story, pushed the envelope with moves and that we executed well. Could things have been better? Of course….but nonetheless, I really liked it!

5.) Family Feud, Make-A-Wish, Project Runway, 5th Grader (though it was national humiliation), Best Damn Sports Show, etc….all of these outside activities would’ve never been possible.

If there was ever a Diva Search contestant that has left the ‘Diva Search’ tag so far behind her, it’s Michelle McCool. Seeing her today, you wouldn’t think for a second that she was part of that whole competition. Despite not winning [and being eliminated fairly early], she is undeniably the real winner of the Diva Search, enjoying the most success in the wrestling industry of any past Diva Search contestant. Congratulations to Michelle on her 5 year anniversary!

Lookin at her top five, especially the guests appearences on tv shows, its a proof on how WWE is getting lamme with the women’s division.

I would actually like if someone did a “Top 5 WWE Divas moments over the years” and see what were the top 5 moments of divas like Trish, Lita and some of the Oldies. That would be interesting.

    Anyways. Congratulations Michelle.

<3 Michelle is one of my favorite divas of all time. She'll probably never get the credit she deserves from most fans due to her dating life, but shes worked so hard and it shows. Great top 5 =]

Anyone who thinks Michelle doesn’t deserve any of the titles she’s won clearly hasn’t seen enough of her. The first time I ever saw a divas match, it was Michelle McCool and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. And she never stops getting better.

Congraultions to Michelle on her 5th Annivesary

    I agree with Ana Nattie

If this Michelle top five moment especially that NOC champion than just proves how down hill women’s wrestling in WWE is going. The match was not that great it had some good spots with Michelle doing the DDT on the post but Melina mainly dominated the match but it does not qualify for a great classic match. The fans were not into it it does not rivial the Beth Phoenix/Mickie match.

This just shows that Michelle don’t have much in her resume to really be getting the push she is getting. I have nothing against her but WWE overrates her too much and she tends to overrate herself she is average at best and she is no doubt the best diva search girl to ever come out of there but her wrestling, character is nothing but average and she is not a top draw for the company and can never be in Trish, Lita and Mickie’s caliber.

One of the best the WWE has right now.

Is she as over as past top divas? No, but she is not a spot monkey like Trish was or a botch fest that Mickie has been the past year. There is no doubt she is only getting better each week though people want to compare her mic skills to other divas, but ya Lita’s mic skills were unbearable, sorry. I would rather hear Jillian’s sad singing gimmick than to hear Lita’s screechy voice try to cut a promo; stick to the moonsaults.

Congrats Michelle and keep proving them all wrong! : ]

People who hate her just can’t appreciate that she’s come out of the Diva Search to become one of the best females wrestlers in the WWE at the moment. So what if she dates the Undertaker? Big woop.
Congratulations Michelle, you deserve that Women’s Title.

I think you’re all forgetting that Michelle’s top 5 is from a personal perspective and NOT from a fan’s point of view. Therefore what SHE liked doing will be in her list, not what YOU liked.

    November 23, 2009 at 5:10 pm

Well, I think we all know that, mpezza, but this list just makes me wonder what other divas would list. Recently is hard for a Diva to have something amazing to put in a list like this. Can you imagine, for instance, Jillian’s list? Having one of the shortest championship reigns, being slapped by S.Osborne and having my fake facial tumor (or whatever was that) ripped of by boogeyman?
Of course that’s not the Divas fault, but as fans I think we have the right to critize the business and the PERFORMANCE of their athletes (not the person)

    In response to swyame

Michelle has come a long way from being a diva search girl and i would not say the elite diva like Gail, Beth, Mickie Melina but one the better ones in the roster

She has been consistent but she is not what WWE pushes her to be

She is not doing anything groundbreaking for a diva That whole “making history” thing is not as big as they hype it up. I think Michelle would go in the rank as being the most improved diva in this current era but she is no way has the full package like Mickie and Melina does to be that diva who can take it to the next level.

In WWE improving in wrestling is great but it can take you so far one of the reasons why Michelle is not a star diva even though WWE gives her the push of a lifetime is that she lacks character and fan connection which is the most important thing in being one of the greats.

Lita was not the greatest mic worker yes that it true but you forget she had fan connection which made up for it and she can get butts off the seat and the same thing with Trish Stratus and that is very essential in being considered in that ranks of being the best.

Michelle will only be named the Best Diva Search Girl but will she be considered a great diva i doubt it because if you don’t have the fans in the palm of your hand your push and career will not get you anywhere. Which is the problem Michelle is having now

Ana_Nattie, it’s like that for a lot of the males in the industry too, the diva’s aren’t the only ones who get overlooked. Some wrestlers prosper and would have a list that contains 100s of high points while others become ‘jobbers’ for life with little-to-no success. Most of the current crop of divas came in as models quite recently so obviously their lists wouldn’t be all that great.

But, yeah, Jillian’s list would be pitiful unfortunately.

I agree with you BLUEJAY. In a sense, there is just something about Lita that confounds me. She is interesting and memorable–the look, the package, the style and the charisma (albeit the lack of mic skills and the weakness of acting skills.) She can get people off of their feet. I don’t think it’s something that can be taught. It’s more of a visceral connection because the girl has presence.

I have to hand it to Michelle McCool. She is beautiful and her skills really have improved ring-wise but I am still not convinced that she has what it takes to be remembered as one of the best. She’s not very interesting. There is just something very generic about her.

The only reason I think she is getting a lot of attention is because of the way the WWE uses her. Without that kind of backing, she would be lost. But did that happen to Lita? I don’t think so. When she was a face – even when she wasn’t in the title picture – she still had one of the biggest ovations during her period (even more than Trish.)

Anyway, I’m sure there are a lot of infantile fans who would take this to heart and bash me and even condemn me to hell. Guess what. Doing so would not convince me that Michelle McCool is bound for greatness. Neither will it prove my statement wrong. Only McCool can do that. =)

The problem with Michelle isn’t the lack of pops. The problem is the fact that some wrestling fans worry more about the fact that she’s dating who she dates, instead of seeing her ring abilities. I actually like Michelle (just making sure to make people know this), but her problem is the poorly mic and acting she usually makes. But WWE doesn’t care about acting classes, I suppose.

michelle, if you are reading this (and i think you do from time to time) just would like to say a huge congratulations on your 5 year anniversary. watching your journey from beginner to seasoned pro has been great. you have done incredibly well, and heres to many more years at the top! x

    Ana Nattie

Pops is very important in wrestling because it symbolizes that you have what it takes to be a star and a driving force for making the company improve and that is how WWE works. That is why they put a lot of emphasize in the E for WWE

Michelle’s case she can’t get any type of reaction despite the constant in you face push she is getting for three years she went from top babyface to top heel and there has been no change.

It has nothing to do who she is dating it may be the icing in cake to dislike her but the fans who dislike don’t like her because she is overpushed and has not really struggled to get what she has gotten it is just the mere fact that WWE keeps on pushing somone as uncharismatic as her.

She wore that AJ Styles robe one of the most beloved and popular wrestlers today last night to try get some heat i did not hear one boo last night. That is a problem for someone who has been overpushed as she has been.

Michelle McCool is the female John Cena of the WWE. She is overrated and WWE will continue to push her down the throats of fans, as long as she is dating the Undertaker. Anyone who think’s her status with Undertaker has nothing to due with her success is living in a dream world. It is also very clear that the fans do not care for Michelle McCool at all. She is disrespectful to established stars, and that rubs a lot of fans the wrong way.

  • Ana_Nattie_rules
    November 23, 2009 at 8:09 pm

Yeah, I understand your point, but i still truly think that she doesn’t have those reactions because of people disliking her, as a person, not a wrestler.
I don’t know, maybe they should put her doing things very mean and “Orton-like” physical attacks. Sure she would get a lot of boos, like a true heel should have. Now, those weak mental games she has doing (who few consider funny) aren’t doing anything good for her.

  • Ana_Nattie_rules
    November 23, 2009 at 8:17 pm

    TNAFan80:

I truly believe that Undertaker doesn’t “pull the strings” for Michelle. He is a man, as any of his fans know, that only respects someone who truly cares about the business and he is consider as a locker room leader. The other ones ask him for advise rather frequently and look up to him. Do you think that if he benefited Mccool, he would have the respect that he was?
And btw, instead of pushing Mccool, it Taker really had all that power, wouldn’t he push himself first? In the past 2 years he has been world champion twice, but he spent some years without gaining any title, when he’s one of the company’s top performers.
So, I don’t think that Taker dating Mccool, brings her benefits. If she dated a Mcmahon, maybe. But Taker? He wouldn’t do that.

Michelle has been through more heel attitude change than any other diva.

She was the Randy Orton like heel when she first turned heel remember when she was going crazy attacking divas like Eve and tried to make you think had gone mad.

She even did the conceited Maryse hand thing for a while
Now she is mean girls type chracter and she did the Trish Stratus bow and non of those tactics helped her heel chracter when it comes down to getting a reaction

    Ana,

The Undertaker has been suffering from injures for several years now and takes a lot of time off, and when he returns he is immediately given another World Championship run. Do you seriously think that Michelle McCool has the talent to be the most dominating Diva in WWE? There is no way in hell Michelle McCool would have the Women’s & Divas’ Championship runs she received had she not been dating the Undertaker.

Personally I lost the little respect I had for Michelle McCool the day she tried to tell Nattie Neidhart how to work a match back in 2008, a year after making it to the main roster fulltime. Then when she disrespected AJ Styles, she gained a spot on my hate list for life!

  • Ana_Nattie_rules
    November 23, 2009 at 8:40 pm

Well, I usually don’t care about rumors, except when their are confirmed by what i call reliable sources. Like co-workers. For instance, I only believed Taker and Michelle were together when Torrie Wilson confirmed it. About the AJ Styles problem, well, yes, she was a little arrogant in that issue and should have asked for permission to use the maneuver. About Nattie, I’m not sure if that is true (if there’s a link with someone on the roster, or even Nattie or Michelle talking about it, please show me, because I love Nattie, and I think it would be disrespectful to say something like that).

But no, I don’t think she’s the most dominant Diva in the WWE. I think she’s a good athlete and that she worked hard in order to perfect her craft, but if she’s the best diva? Not at all. Actually the one I think is better is Melina (yes I think she’s better than James). Mickie, Gail and Beth are also better.

I really respect Taker and still don’t think he would do that. Maybe WWE pushed her because of that, but I doubt that he would actually ask for it.

  • TNAFan80
    November 23, 2009 at 8:57 pm

Ana, you may have misunderstood me. I didn’t say that Undertaker is asking/telling people that he wants Michelle McCool to be champion, I simply said that Michelle McCool is handed a lot due to her relationship with him. I’d be willing to bet anything that if Michelle McCool was not dating the Undertaker, then she wouldn’t have such a big role on Smackdown or in the Diva Division. She would be just another pretty face on Smackdown.

  • mpezza
    November 23, 2009 at 9:01 pm

I don’t see why you all have a problem with Michelle ‘stealing’ stuff from AJ Styles when he’s said in an interview that he doesn’t care, in fact, he’s quite happy for her to do it and honored that she uses his move!

  • vonVile
    November 23, 2009 at 9:25 pm

The major problem with McCool is she has no charisma and or mic skills. When the WWE Universe gives zero reaction no matter what you do it doesn’t matter how great your wrestling skills are. As for mic skills, UGH! When she’s at ring-side with the commentators she gives nothing back in the conversation to promote her fued. It’s just “I can beat her” or “She can’t beat me.” Also she has no conviction in her voice. It’s monotone and like she’s reading from a teleprompter. If any other wrestler was this lacking in overall talent they’d be gone from the WWE a long time ago or jobbing like Gail Kim.

I’m still PO’d about how the WWE gave the first Divas title reign to McCool first over better talent like Victoria and Natalya and how they had Maryse sandbag Mickie for a title shot for a month to block her from being the first woman from holding both titles. It dumb stuff like this the WWE does that doesn’t help McCool gain fans.

Michelle vs Melina Night of Champions was the ish. Anyways I rarely watched Diva Search but I never would’ve guessed she was in it. She’s a tough woman seriously. And she can throw the best kicks. Next to Hamada.

  • TNAFan80
    November 24, 2009 at 12:16 am

Michelle McCool’s kicks are weak compared to Ayako Hamada’s kicks.

  • Mikas
    November 24, 2009 at 12:34 am

Hamada is used to the Joshi style which is much more stiff. You cant compare that to the WWE style. Michelle has a background in martial arts, i’m sure she can kick as hard as Hamada if she wants to, but do you really think WWE will approve of that?

On a different note, can I just commend the recent exchange between you people. From ANA_NATTIE_RULES’ post down, I enjoy the fact that you are all discussing with a semblance of class. How refreshing it is to see pro-wrestling followers voicing out their opinions without sounding like a group of kids whose vocabulary ranges from “stupid” to “bitch.”

    Anyway, carry on.
