It’s December 1st and that means voting has commenced on the 2009 Year-End Awards here at Diva Dirt! In exactly one month’s time, you will have crowned your Diva of the Year, Knockout of the Year, Match of the Year — and all the other categories in between! This is truly the people’s awards, we have had input from our readers throughout the entire process, making this that much more significant for the Divas and Knockouts nominated!
A few notes:
- In shortlisting the nominees, we took into account your suggestions as well as our own panel’s suggestions.
- Nominations were based on prominence of figures in each category from January through to the end of November.
- We made a graphic of all the Best Photoshoot nominations as a reminder, click here to check that out before you vote.
- A special Twitter-only category for ‘Best Tweeter’ can be voted for here.
Voting begins now and ends on December 31st. The results will be posted on January 1st, 2010! Vote wisely and be sure to spread the word!

I can’t beleive my Jillian wasn’t nominated for anything,it’s the slammy awards all over again,she was a shoe in for best gimmick and her finally winning a title should have been in the news story of the year(sigh)

Also for “gimmick of the year” I woulda voted the B.P if specified when Angelina was still around, but that gimmick is DEAD now and sadly went from incredibly sexy to ultra cheesy with Velvet/Madison/Lacey

Ashleigh – Gail was the very last one we cut from the list. We figured that, even though she most certainly is skilled, she didn’t really get to show it this year–she did a lot of standing in the shadows.

Ed, that was the joke myself and RKOyou (or at least I was) trying to make, its sarcasm. Though saying that Jillian’s 3 minutes of fame have sparked more interest than Melina and Mickie’s continuous reigns.
I forgot about Gail Kim in technical wrestling, I usually think more along the lines of strategy and submission than high flying when it comes to being technical, naturally I went for Natalya in that category.

Winning a title is not a news story.
As for Jillian/Best Gimmick and Gail/Most Skilled. Both won those respective categories last year. However this year, Jillian’s gimmick has become played out and we feel there were more prominent gimmicks that were seen on television in 2009. Meanwhile for Gail, while she is extremely skilled, judging by her performances over the past year — there were ultimately more deserving nominees.

I actually kind of agree with RKOyou.. yeah Jillian’s gimmick is pretty stale but winning a title is absolutely a news story!! Maybe not story of the year or anything but to say “winning a title is not a news story” is pretty inaccurate and way to broad of a statement to make (sorry Melanie!)
I think in this case specifically, the rumours that Jillian apparently pinned Mickie as punishment from management is pretty news worthy itself, not to mention winning titles is why the girls are on tv competing! If winning a title is not a news story, then why is the “Creation of the TNA Knockouts Tag Titles” even a nominee for news story of the year? Doesn’t really add up to me..
As for Gail, I understand that she wasn’t given enough opportunity to strut her stuff in 2009 but hopefully 2010 will be a more productive year for her in the ring!!

It isn’t a news story by the standards of this particular award. If it was, we’d be nominating everyone who won a title this year just because they won one.
As for the Mickie stuff, it’s not a tangible enough news story be considered.
The creation of a new set of titles is newsworthy.

I voted Tara/Kong but then I watched the Beth/Gail/Alicia/Kelly 4 way again and that might actually be my favorite!! All of the girls were exciting and the crowd was really behind them.
