I love Tara. She is awesome. She is an extremely talented performer and also very good on the mic.
However, I can’t help but I say I lost a little respect for her. This is not the first time she has talked badly about the womens division in WWE, and I can’t help but feel like it is getting a little too much. If the Knockouts Division is sooo great, why do they need to keep bashing the divas? I understand that she was probably told to say that, but it kind of comes to a point where its like, ok, we understand that you think your division is better than the womens division. And it arguably is. But keep saying that just makes it look horrible when theres a bad night on Impact for womens wrestling. Which does happen sometimes, I didn’t think that battle royal last week was that great at all.

I was more intrigued with the pseudo-prison chicks segment with Lauren and TBP then anything with the other Knockouts tonight. Lauren might just be a freak. Everytime she gets bullied around, she makes some.. *cough* interesting.. sounds. True story. haha
Tara and ODB’s backstage stint was just awful to watch. About 15 seconds into it, I paused the DVR until the segment was over then fast forwarded it.
The match was VERY SD Diva-quese or X-Division-quese. There’s no way in hell doing the same amount of moves you would do in a 10-15 min match in a 2-3 min match and get the same match. Seriously. As soon as you get the chance to go ‘Oh, did you see that?’ they do a different move. Then before you can guess what the hell they just did, they do ANOTHER move. Jebus. Good thing that Japanese chick or that luchadore lady doesn’t have a character. They would be totally wasted. But, if another Japanese chick or luchadore lady comes in, they be screwed. You couldn’t tell them a part in a true Divas or X-Division way.

Tara’s comments were funny due to the fact that when she was signed by WWE in 2000, she was not exactly a veteran wrestler, to put it nicely. Maybe if WWE brings back the Diva Search, TNA can have Christy Hemme cut a promo about how those girls haven’t paid their dues.

I love how people take what the TNA writers scripted Tara to say *in character* seriously. It’s part of TNA competing with WWE, and while it may be childish — Tara is just doing her job. She did the same for WWE too, but at least TNA allows her to showcase her talent rather than have her job (and not just job, but flat out be dominated) by newcomers.

Wow at some of the comments, well if you have anyone to blame for the segment blame the WRITERS afterall it is SCRIPTED, im sure there is a little truth in there somewhere but I doubt Tara/Lisa feels too bad about a company that put her on the map and gave her the opportunity to be who she is in wrestling today.

She could’ve said no. This isn’t the first time she talks negative about her former collegues. But she forget she was one of those barbie dolls many years ago when she was still learning the basics. And after Christy Hemme, LVE, Jenna Morasco, Kristal, Velvet Skye, Lauren, Socal Val and Sharmell it’s kinda hypocritical of TNA to refer to ‘barbie dolls’ when you talk about the competition. TNA have even used pornstars like Jasmin St. Clair in the past. TNA has even admitted that their knockouts must be goodlooking, so there really isn’t much difference between WWE and TNA.

First of all, I stated that I knew that she was probably told to say that. Whether its the truth or not, why keep bringing it up? I didn’t say anything the other times Tara or other Knockouts have bashed the Divas but now its kind of enough is enough. Thats great that you think it but prove it by putting on amazing matches, which they do sometimes. Mickie vs Beth vs Natalya tonight is a great match. When Victoria would dress up as a sumo wrestler and all that stuff, which it was sad that seh wasn’t getting pushed, I thought that she had a great sense of humour and could laugh at herself.
And I agree with some other comments on here. Who is Lacey Von Erich then? Christy Hemme? Wasn’t Victoria originally one of the Godfathers ho’s?? It kind of sounds like some of them (not all of them) are upset that WWE didn’t want them (ODB). Who is Jenna Morasca and Kristal? I have nothing against them, but really, I don’t think there is a diva who is in the company right now who is as bad as Lacey Von Erich in the ring. Ditto Jenna Morasca. It just sounds like hypocrisy.
Theres no need to blame tara if i was in her place i also said the same as she said shes a true respectful human and i don’t know why people thinks she said wrong well all the thing she said is just 100% true.shes not blaming all wwe divas as barbie dolls.shes only said Barbie doll to model divas like bella twins maria and kelly kelly and candice im sure. She is a brave women

Everything one can read online (like Lance Storm’s Q&A, Lita’s interview about the Ho sale, Krystal Lashley’s departure, Velvet Sky & Poison) seems to indicate that a wrestler just does what he/she is told to do if she/he wants to keep working, whether she/he likes it or not. So no, it is not likely that Tara could have easily avoided doing this segment if she wanted to. The question remains, did she actually want to ?
Second point, what’s the fuss about Tara calling divas barbie dolls on tv while on character ? Kayfabe wise, it’s nothing new, she did that thoroughly her late career in WWE. All of her feuds from 2005 onwards had for explicit theme Victoria as the badass/bitch vs the nice and newest “worthless” diva hogging the spotlight – eg Christy Hemme, Ashley, most of the checklist, Torrie Wilson, and the Bellas; she even called Kelly Kelly “Barbie” during a match (and not only because it’s her real name). And as we all know more than once she got totally jobbed in those feuds.
About the pot calling the kettle black : in 2000, Victoria was indeed a clueless diva ring wise, but she was only brought up as a valet. And even then she was put through a table. When was the last time a diva took such bump exactly ? And after that, WWE wisely did not put her in the ring and on tv til she was fully ready (like Gail and Mickie later). Those were just different times. These days Kelly toured with ECW at age 19 with an exhibitionnist gimmick, Eve is basically learning on the fly, Maryse is pushed solely based on looks and charisma with the hope she will eventually catch on with ring skills (much like Trish Stratus, but sadly there is only one Trish Stratus). That doesn’t look like the right way to do things.
The Tara/ODB segment is disturbing (for what it is) for the same reason the Lita/Matt Hardy shoot web interview was : because it blurs reality and fiction. It’s the feeling of facing a worked shoot based on real things. And not only it blurs, but it twists facts and feelings (the knockouts division being there for seven years, ODB ?). Tara has said similar things out of kayfabe, but not with such a strong and unbalanced wording. And apparently she likes most of her ex-coworkers. But if this segment induces a strong reaction, then that’s the whole point. Good or bad, you don’t make wrestling with tedious stuff. It works like comedy, exaggerating actual things to display them with maximal effect. Lisa Marie Varon talked about this segment as a therapy. That’s what it is : a catharsis, a blow-out way to put the WWE past behind her for good, in kayfabe and in reality. Because the angle of this feud is apparently Tara becoming a knockout for real and for good (TNA loves those respect angles isn’t it). TNA could not have done it when Tara faced the Beautiful People for obvious reasons; they’ve chosen to do it now while Tara is still quite new in TNA : she faces the KO champion ODB for the title, who is the antithesis of a diva. Like it or not, it’s a good opposition writing-wise and I can see why the writers took this path. And it works not because of the Victoria of the golden era winning titles in street fights, but mostly because she was a joke in her later years and therefore has something to prove.
Personally though I am not too fond of it. It’s really the easy-lazy way for a writer to use real life and what happened in other promotions to build angles. After the Kong match, it also comes too late : if winning cleanly vs Kong doesn’t earn kayfabe respect, I don’t know what will (ok, we have an ODB heel turn here, but still). At least we have a real heated feud for the title. And wrestlers are better anyway when they don’t have to act out of blue.
In that segment Tara offered her respect and praise, she got slapped and insulted in return. Then it’s quite logical to be shocked and disappointed, and to leave. You don’t hit someone seconds after wanting to show her respect. It’s not because you’re strong in the ring that you’re strong from an emotional point of view either. The psychology of the segment called for ODB keeping the upper hand. One would expect Tara to react strongly in the next weeks, otherwise the writers are just missing the boat and portray her actually like a crybaby diva.
On the issue of the knockouts bashing divas : once again, if only that could lead to WWE actually paying attention to their women division, I am all for the knockouts saying that divas are worthless trash at every single opportunity. Sadly it won’t be the case, but I am begging for it to happen.
Regarding the Hamada vs Saritaylor spotfests : well, they were a great display of athleticism and technique. It also shows what the knockouts and women in general can do in wrestling, they can be compared to the x division without shame, which is very good. And those matches are probably as good and entertaining as it can get for a 3 minutes match. But, much like the x division matches, they are not without issue, mostly due to time shortage.
First, the lack of selling, and the absence of long-term selling. Let’s consider the Taylor-Hamada match. We see there Hamada completely no selling Taylor’s Huracanrana and later the springboard armdrag. We see the excessive accumulation of spots and big impact moves : the first move that Hamada hits in that match is a jumping ddt that would make a decent finisher. Then a huge superkick to the head, then a perfect moonsault. That should end the match, like the crowd shouted, but no it continues, and therefore Taylor is basically forced to no-sell those moves as well : fifteen seconds later, she’s on her feet running and jumping everywhere like nothing happened. And for these reasons most of those matches have a random finish, because nothing that happened prior to the last spot means anything (to be fair, in the Taylor match Taz was selling that Taylor took too many hits to the head; that match had at least some kind of thread). We eventually get disconnected matches where the spots are just there for themselves. Wrestling not being only a sport, it is also about the art of selling something to maximal effect. From this point of view, the short and crowded spotfests actually underachieve. So it would be very interesting to see what the x-division style knockouts would do with more time.
This time the impact zone crowd seemed to really care for Hamada and Sarita, and not only for their spots like before; that’s a very good thing, and it calls for their characters to be developed more.

It does hurt TNA’s cause to have a Lacey Von Erich on the roster. It’s TNA, not WWE, who constantly brag about their women and act like they are above signing someone who is all looks and no talent.

This was probably the worst Impact of the year. For me, the Sarita-Hamada match was the only highlight of the show. And i’m already tired about all the Hogan crap, and he hasnt even arrived yet!
At least there was some good news. The new TNA program looks interesting.

I dont really think that promo came from Russo, I really think Tara meant that herself.

“159745648 moves in a 3 min doesn’t make it a great match. It just means you just did 159745648 moves in a 3 min match.” – EBMICH
Then by all means, EBMICH… please enlighten us. I’m sure your admiration for the likes of Lacey Von Erich (and her “moveset”) makes you very credible indeed.

Tara speaks the TRUTH,she just said she wanted to be someplace where she was going to be apreciated, she did become a joke in WWE,she was nothing but a comedy act(sumo wrestler, big banana etc) and a jobber to all the models, she lost week after week to the likes of Maria, the bellas, candice and michelle, she lost so respect that she wasn’t even considered a challenger for a title anymore,TARA HAS GAINED SO MUCH RESPECT FROM ME for going to TNA
Tara did not bash the WWE divas, she just bashed the sucky ones haha
the sartia/Hamada match was amazing, sarita is to good,Hamada is good also but I can’t get into her character because we don’t know anything about her

TNA only have Lacey Von Erich and Christy Hemme. When WWE have Maryse, Kelly Kelly, Maria, Eve, Alicia Fox, Jillian, and Bella Twins. There are nothing but eyecandy yes some can put on decent match( well only Alicia).

It does hurt TNA’s cause to have a Lacey Von Erich on the roster. It’s TNA, not WWE, who constantly brag about their women and act like they are above signing someone who is all looks and no talent.
