As most will know by now, next week’s edition of Raw will be a three hour special dedicated to the WWE Slammy Awards. In a possible spoiler for the category of ‘Diva of the Year’, a WWE.com promo package shows four Divas — likely the four nominees for the award.
If last year is anything to go by, there will only be four nominees which would make the video clip that much more of an indicator.
The Divas as shown in order are: Mickie James, Maryse, Kelly Kelly and Melina.
Last year’s award was won by Beth Phoenix. The nominees are expected to be revealed properly later this week.

I was surprised when I didn’t saw Mccools name. Beth is way cooler, but the WWE didn’t used her has right has last year, so I kinda understand why she isn’t in the list. But Kelly being there is kinda bad.
Maryse has been out of action for a huge part of the year, I don’t think she should be up there. I think it should be Michelle McCool up there instead and Kelly Kelly will always be put up cause she gets over really well with the croud.
maryse doesn’t deserve it due to being out of action on two occasions over the last year, as well as being what i consider an even poorer wrestler than kelly, but i would love for her to win it.
imagine the sketches and inflated ego, especially if she starts carrying it around and flaunting it a la glamarella last year.
I’m fine with these choices.
Mickie: won her first Divas title and 5th title overall
Melina: won both titles in 2009
Maryse: Longest title reign of the post-Trish Stratus era
I don’t mind Kelly Kelly being nominated, either, as her popularity with the live crowds shouldn’t be overlooked, especially with how many Divas have trouble getting over.
Maryse does DESERVE IT!.I don’t know if any of you have noticed,but while Maryse was out of action the diva’s matches were boring.Maryse is the best heel right now and she can pull off the best backstage promos and anything that she does in the ring.Has the charisma and can act…I haven’t seen good backstage clip probably since 2006 and 2007.Maryse can wrestle,she can do anything.Mickie also deserves it but for Diva of the decade.I just hope that wwe lets Maryse do more moves because at survivor series 2008…I saw a competitor and a wrestler,so to me it proves that she can wrestle.So right now Maryse out shines almost all of the divas when it comes to attitude and ring presence..best heel ever.So think again when you say she doesn’t deserve just because she flips her hair doesn’t mean she can’t wrestle,I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
For everyone jumping on Maryse, what exactly has Kelly done this year that was any different last year? She still flipping around like a monkey while dressing in cute bras and booty shorts with no real direction or accomplishments. lol
I’d be surprise if it didn’t go to Melina or Maryse. Besides the obvious storyline thing..
Melina manages to bring that real feeling of “I love what I do!” and intenstiy that a lot her fellow faces don’t show. Not saying Kelly or Mickie or Maria or Eve don’t love wrestling. But Melina mos def shows she really does love to wrestle.
Maryse brings a whole lot of character and charisma that a lot of the other divas simply do not have. For everyone wanting Nattie and Beth to be used, what exactly about either one makes them feel “missed” when they aren’t around? Same with a lot of the other divas. Maryse’s character may be cliche like a mofo, but compared to the other “happy and smiley idiots” or the “chronic PMS’ing” divas, she’s a freaking gold mine.
Quality > Quantity.

Okay i understand why Maryse, Melina and Mickie are on the list because they were the top divas this year. But Kelly? seriously? Screwjob. Michelle deserves to be on the list not smelly kelly.

i think the most two deserving winners of this year are Melina and Michelle McCool, which means I guess it’ll have to be Melina! Hopefully Maryse will DESTROY her afterwards ;)

hope melina wins but i gotta feeling mickie might and shes gonna get up there and talk about how michelle cant stop her. michelle and layla come out rocking PIGGY JAMES shirts and maria comes out looking like who did it and why blah blah blah.
Melina deserves this, shes Great with the Crowds they love the woman!, they love to watch her wrestle as do I, Melina for the simple fact shes won both the Divas and Womens championship this year and has put on some Great match’s, She is so versatile in the ring and is always managing to pull new kinds of moves out of no where with her flexibility, Bret Hart thinks shes the Best and the man obviously knows a decent Wrestler when he see’s one.
Maryse.. not so sure she deserves to be in this – she hasn’t done an awful lot this year to be honest she’s been out for quite some time missing most of this year infact, She is an amazing heel but thats about it right now?.. nothing worth while for winning a Slammy thats for sure.
Mickie James for me hasn’t impressed me much this year, she’s become very sloppy and slow in the ring although lately she’s picking up again! mabye for the fact she hasn’t got to wrestle Rosa and Alicia ect, Instead now shes battleing with the Big girls over on smackdown and looks as though she’s loving it as she’s wrestleing with Women who can make her look better in the ring, shes great but dosen’t deserve the slammy not this year any ways.
Kelly kelly? Im quite shocked at this if I’m Honest, should have been Mccool instead IMO, the woman has done very well this year, I guess with Kelly it’s becuase she really does make the crowd get into her match’s which is pretty cOOl and all, shes not a bad wrestler but definitely isn’t slammy worthy.
I’m confused as to why Michelle isn’t even nominated. I mean she made history again by becoming the first diva to hold both titles. How isn’t that nominee worthy? o.O
I like Kelly Kelly, but she shouldn’t even be nominated. She’s just a crowd favorite and is loved by them. Plus she hasn’t done anything worthy to even be nominated
Maryse….i don’t think she deserves it at all. I like her but she isn’t all that great IMO to be considered a nominee. She was the top heel diva on RAW and was the longest divas champion but still its not slammy worthy at all. Plus her return was a total FAIL!
Mickie James is one of the two that DOES deserve it. Sure she kinda has been sloppy in the ring but she became the 2nd diva to hold both titles and has just been really great as of late…especially with this whole “Piggie James” crap! Plus she proved how great she was on the mic by her promo on SD last week. She should be able to talk more. But still…she’s one of the ONLY two that deserves it.
Melina hands down IMO derserves it 100%! She has had a great year. Winning the womens title at The Rumble & having a nice 6 month title reign and then 5 months later she gets traded back to RAW in which she becomes the divas champion which she currently holds still. She has put on some great matches this year, especially her & Michelle’s match at NOC. All around she deserves it 100% and would be my pick to get the slammy…which i really hope she does.
Melina’s got this! she’s the only one on the list to win both titles in the same year..& not only that..but she probably the most popular diva in the WWE.Let’s face it..Mickie gained weight & went downhill.As much as i love Maryse (obvious by my name) she just got back from an injury & Kelly Kelly is just a filler..Melina for Diva Of The Year! :)

I was gonna go off on one, but I might as well ditto what Kelsey just said, if Kelly’s nominated then then whole category is a joke.
Well if it’s any consolation (to you Michelle fans), Maria and Candice were featured in last year’s Slammy Award promo, and they weren’t nominated for “Diva of the Year 2008.” I mean, unless the Miz is really nominated for “Superstar of the year,” this year’s promo might be a bit misleading. We will only know for sure once the nominees are officially announced. So, keep the hope alive.
lol wwedivamadness. Kelly Kelly is crap and she didnt do anything this year besides jumping in tag team matches around. Maryse was over 200 days champion this year and thats more than a half year to be champ. soo she didnt miss a lot from this year.

I don’t agree with the people who say beth should be on the list. She’s a great diva, but frankly, she hasn’t done much at all this year.
I don’t understand Kelly being there at all. Where is Michelle! Michelle McCool has been the main diva all year long! It should have been Mickie, Melina, Michelle, and Maryse.
…It doesn’t matter though. They’re gonna give it to Mickie anyway. Unless they’re still mad at her, of course. In that case, the poetic injustice of the WWE will probably give it to Kelly.
I know Beth shouldn’t be listed, ChrissyL is right…but it still bums me out. :-) Although if Kelly is on the list that is terrible…how many times did Beth smash her this year on TV? Did Kelly win any big matches? The best thing she did was appear on my 7-11 Big Gulp cup and do a sexy SummerSlam promo.

i think in some way they all deserve to be there mickie and melina were kind of obvious but maryse is top heel even the crowd have cheered for her since she has come back but she still acts like a heel and for kelly the crowd love her at braggin rights she was the only one who got a crowd reaction when she was tagged in.
