TNA has pencilled in a Knockouts tag team tournament [presumably for the Knockouts Tag Titles or for a shot at the titles] for the Impact tapings on December 21st, Diva Dirt has learnt. The tournament falls just one night after the company’s December pay per view, Final Resolution.
A source backstage at last night’s Impact taping tells us that TNA are currently booking several independent talents to come in for the tournament, including a few familiar names.
Former TNA Knockout Roxxi, who made a surprise return last night, is expected to be one of the participants.
Who would you like to see come in for the tournament?
EDIT: It looks as though said tournament may air in it’s entirety as part of TNA’s New Year’s Eve celebrations on Spike TV. The company will be airing four hours of Impact on New Year’s Eve with the special entitled “New Year’s Knockout Eve.”

There are a lot of people I would like to see. Some because of they’re talent, others just because I like them. A good example is Salinas/Ariel/Shelly Martinez. I always liked her and well, she’s harcore. She would be great in a Tag with Daffney, for instance. Of course there are great names, such as Mschif or Sara del Rey, but I don’t think they will be present, so I’m going to stop dreaming.

Sara del Rey, Mercedes Martinez, Daizee Haze, Jazz and MsChif top my wish list.
December 9, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Sara del Rey wrestled on a TNA show recently, so there is hope there, but MsChif is a long shot because she has said that she is not interested despite being contacted by TNA in the past. TNA has made great choices in women’s talent and there are so many great wrestlers in the indies, so I am excited to see who comes in.

Portia & Nicole, the canadian ninjas. They are hilarious, but i dont think their act will work in TNA. They probably wont get to talk and they must work a under-5 minute match, that doesnt really give much time to work their act properly.
Rain & Jetta are always entertaining to watch. But like the Canadian ninjas i dont think they can just cram it all into a 5 minute match.
Team Blondage, but i dont see that happening since TNA already has TBP.
Roxxi & Ariel are the most likely candidates to appear now that we know Roxxi is coming back.
Then there are dozens of combinations to make with people like Sara del Rey, MsChif, Alissa Flash, Daizee (still injured i think), Madison Eagles, Lufisto, Mercedes Martinez.
December 9, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I just remembered something. I dont think they will fly in people from Europe, Australia and probably even Canada, just so they can fill up their tournament. So it’s probably unlikely we are going to see the ninjas, Jetta, Madison Eagles or Lufisto.

“The company will be airing four hours of Impact on New Year’s Eve with the special entitled “New Year’s Knockout Eve.”
colour me confused, but does this mean a four hour knockouts only show??
December 9, 2009 at 4:10 pm
i’m really happy about this, theyre finally starting to sort out the knockouts tag team tournament. and i was extremely happy with kong and hamada in the triple threaght match.
and with this tournament it will help the division a lot. thankyou TNA

Kaledrina — I’m guessing no, though it will probably be a main theme for the show.
December 9, 2009 at 4:47 pm
I was kinda hoping since TNA didn’t sing Sweet Saraya Knight that she comes back for the Tournament.. Also Sara Del Ray and Ms Chif are two i hope will appear in the tournament!
December 9, 2009 at 5:02 pm
i think we’ll be way too lucky to get the likes of mschif, sara, daizee. i’d love it, of course, but showcasing women who are way better than half tna’s own knockouts doesn’t sound too clever.
hopefully roxxi can pair off with somebody already in the company.. daffney or alissa would be a perfect fit. maybe then they’ll bring her back full time.
December 9, 2009 at 5:05 pm
The Suicide Blondes(Jennifer Blake and Lufisto)
The Canadian Ninjas(Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews)
Pretty Bitchin’(Nikki Roxx & Ariel)
Ashley Lane & Neveah
Melisschif
The Pink Ladies(Madison Eagles & Jessie Mckay)
or from Japan
ToshieRan(Toshie Uematsu & RanYuYu)
YonEmi(Kaori Yoneyama and Emi Sakura)
The Amazing Kongs(Aja Kong & Amazing Kong)
The Shirai Sisters(Io and Mio Shirai)
KanAyu(Kana & Ayumi Kurihara)
December 9, 2009 at 5:59 pm
As I understand it, the first two hours are a look back at 2009 followed by a regular two hour Impact, so this very well could be a Knockout-only special, at least in terms of the matches.
December 9, 2009 at 7:09 pm
that does make sense, matt. i forgot it was supposed to be a normal impact with a “best of” included.
December 9, 2009 at 7:45 pm
Looks good to me. Outside talent, some of whom are hopefully signed up.
Pretty much any of the current tag teams from SHIMMER will do IMO
I’m guessing it’ll be a mix of Knockouts and outside talent.
December 9, 2009 at 8:02 pm
this is just so saritaylor can can defend their titles more,no way is TNA going to make them drop the titles to women they haven’t even signed to the company, this is kind of a waste but it is exciting, maybe TNA will sign some of these women
i’m upset now,I was hoping Roxxi would make a comeback but it was just for a tag tourney we all know she isn’t going to win
December 9, 2009 at 8:14 pm
I believe this is part of the ongoing deal/contract between TNA and SHIMMER. I believe I heard that TNA will allow all their Knockout’s to work for SHIMMER and in return, SHIMMER will supply female talent to TNA for dark matches and other roles.

If they’re bringing in independent talent then it looks like they’re already taking this more seriously than the tournament to crown the inaugural champs a few months ago. For that tournament, they just threw a bunch of completely random teams together from the current roster that made no sense, had no chemistry and broke up as soon as they were eliminated. Bringing in some established tag teams from the indies would help enourmously. Sara Del Rey worked a TNA house show last month and Dixie Carter had good things to say about her, so hopefully odds are decent that they’ll use her for this thing (pleasepleaseplease). It’ll be great to see Roxxi back again too.
I’m crossing my fingers for Sara Del Rey and the Canadian Ninjas. Those are the top 3 people I want.
December 9, 2009 at 9:03 pm
I really don’t get the point of a tournament when we just saw one like a month or two ago to crown new ones, nor do I get how they can explain new girls wrestling unless they’ve been in TNA previously, but it’s TNA and their audience is very pro internet/indy so they’d probably pop for some indy girls. Would love to see Daizee Haze, Allison Danger, Jessie McKay, or the Ninjas appear, but just as long as Sara Del overREYted stays off my TV then I’m fine.
December 9, 2009 at 10:21 pm
You call Sara Del Rey overrated, but you listed Allison Danger and Daizee Haze, who are both average wrestelrs at best.
December 9, 2009 at 10:24 pm
I’d be careful for everyone who is naming Shimmer talent… TNA might see something they like and keep her around. Then you will be stuck complaining about how “misused” they are. haha
With that being said, I would love it if Amber O’Neal were to come in. I think she would be a perfect fit because she’s a veteran without a “I MUST KILL” style of wrestling. A lot of the veterans in TNA really don’t mesh well with the lesser experienced people because there *has to be* a mystic about them. That’s why the MEM sucked because they never let the younger people get a rub. Amber doesn’t mind jobbing and she brings out the best in people.
December 9, 2009 at 10:27 pm
IYO =] IMO Sara Del Rey is nothing special and can’t cut a promo to save her life. I like Daizee and Allison so go them
December 9, 2009 at 10:40 pm
“nor do I get how they can explain new girls wrestling unless they’ve been in TNA previously”
tna have always had an open door policy of sorts, which i think is great. it’s also probably a lot cheaper for tna, as well as great for building working relationships with companies like shimmer, japw or cmll.
i can’t help but feel this whole idea is a bit too little, too late. but i’m pleased they’re finally starting to do something worthwhile with the tag belts. it comes across as if they created them for both the initial wow factor as well as to get one up on the divas so to speak, rather than it being a prize for the knockouts to fight for as it shoulda been.
December 9, 2009 at 10:42 pm
ebmich, as amber has wrestled for tna in the past and also appeared during the kong challenge, it could be likely for her. but on the downside, krissy vaine likely won’t be there with her.
December 9, 2009 at 10:43 pm
that’s if you care about krissy, of course
December 9, 2009 at 10:52 pm
I get the open door thing and believe me I’m all for it, but I’m just worried they’ll sign someone who is very well liked and then they become useless and shoved aside due to the already overinflated roster, like Alissa Flash >_>

December 9, 2009 at 11:19 pm
I’d like to see jessie mckay and tenille! =D

December 10, 2009 at 4:48 am
I’m hoping they use this as a way to bring back Angelina Love and possibly Salinas AKA Ariel.
December 10, 2009 at 7:59 am
Here is a two new trios for yall …
- Angelina Love, Krissy Vaine, and Amber O’Neal
- Jazz, Jacqueline Moore, and Sojournor Bolt
December 10, 2009 at 10:55 pm
Kaledrina, I know Amber has wrestled for UWF which lended it’s ring to TNA. Not really the same thing.
Amber would also be a good fit cuz she’s worked with Alissa, Traci, Kong, Velvet, Christy (sorta) and Daffany. So, she can work against anyone if she can manage so many different styles. She’s been around the block.
December 10, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Ebmich,
From March 31, 2006 until December 12, 2006, the United Wrestling Federation ran 18 “TNA Live” branded events after securing a sponsorship deal with TNA Wrestling. Because of this agreement between TNA and UWF (aka: UWF paid to use the TNA name, storylines, and talent), the 18 live events were indeed “TNA Live Events”. Amber O’Neal appeared on 8 of those events, working with, against, and beating several TNA contracted superstars.
December 10, 2009 at 11:59 pm
I WILL LIKE TO BE XOCHITL HAMADA, LADY APACHE, MARCELA, AMAPOLA AND PRINCESA SUGEY BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST WRESTLERS IN MEXICO.
December 11, 2009 at 1:54 am
I’d love to see Fabi & Mari Apache as challengers to the TNA Knockout’s Tag Team Championship. Fabi even stated during a recent interview with “Box Y Lucha” magazine that she would like to win a Women’s Tag Team Championship with Mari.
December 11, 2009 at 3:20 am
I’ve missed a couple of days worth of news and TV, so can someone please quench my burgeoning thirst here: is Roxxi really returning to TNA? Like, permanently?
*crosses fingers*
December 11, 2009 at 4:33 am
I would like to see Lizzy Valentine / the NY Knockouts !!!!
December 14, 2009 at 5:37 am

January 3, 2010 at 2:40 am
