Former Divas Champion, Maryse made an odd comparison between herself and Trish Stratus on Sunday night, as she chatted with fans in WWE.com’s TLC live chat. Maryse called herself an iTouch while saying Trish was ‘an old cassette player’. Err…

While I totally understand the comparison being made — what the hell?! Though, I hand it to her, it’s original and not as cliched as using the car analogy that men still seem to use. For her next trick, Maryse will compare cutlery. ["I'm a fork, Melina is a spoon."]

She’s right Trish is in the past but Maryse would NEVER be in Trish level. When Trish won her first title she wasn’t that great in the ring but she was 1000x better than Maryse was.

Whilst Maryse is overrated purely based on her attitude, I have to take my hat off to her. We’re on about a former Diva Search competitor who was called up to SmackDown initially to welcome viewers back in French? I mean she’s obviously savouring what she has for now and she has come a long way, despite the fact she goes from taunt-kick-taun-submission-taunt-kick-DDT, its still better than what she was before and if you struggle in the ring, she may as well make up for it with her gimmick. Plus, its about time Divas stepped over the sacred line and went against Trish rather than following the others and kissing up to her. Because whilst Maryse can’t really back it up in the ring, she is right, she is the star that keeps improving, whilst like a cassette Trish relies on the popularity she had in the day when she was new and exciting.

I loved Maryse’ comparisons between herself, Trish, the ITouch and the Cassette lol – also the comment Melanie made about the spoons haha xD
Maryse may not be able to back it up in the ring – but thats a question which should end in; ‘yet.’
It was only this time last year that she won her first title, and only 6months before which she started wrestling in the ring quite often ….. everyone works at their own speed, hell look at ol’ Rosa still learning her own individule style in tha ring

This made me laugh so hard! Maryse actually thinks shes improving?? What a load of crap. Trish may not have been the best wrestler when she started, but at least she got consistantly better. Maryse’s ring skills have decreased since coming back, pretty sloppy work. I really hope the WWE changes their mind about giving Maryse another title, she doesn’t deserve it.

Maryse was in-character, so she wasnt REALLY comparing herself to Trish.
I think Maryse -could- become the next Trish Stratus in theory, people often forget that Maryse has only been wrestling a few years, and Trish also sucked bigtime in her first few years, so you cant judge Maryse purely on her wrestling skill. There are however reasons why Maryse will never be the next Trish. Look at who Trish’ opponents were: Lita, Molly, Jazz, Jacqueline and Victoria, all people who made Trish look good. Then look at who Maryse has to work with. Thats a completely different setting. Additionally there is also a change in environment within WWE, divas are heavily restricted in what they are allowed to show, and they cant play the none-PG card anymore. So I do believe Maryse has lots of potential, but due to several factors she can only hope to be “almost” as good as Trish.

Trish Stratus was horrible whe she first got the women’s championship. I remember her match at Vengence 2001 in Dec at that time against Jackie. Trish looked so green in the ring. To be honest I don’t think she was better then Maryse at the time in her career. IMO Trish didn’t really get better in the ring until 2003. Like someone said I don’t think Maryse will ever be as good as Trish was due to the fact that she really doesn’t have anyone to make her look good in the ring except Gail and Melina..while Trish had Lita,Jazz,Victoria,etc…But hopefully Maryse will enhance her in ring moveset; she needs to add at least a few strong Grapple moves or something and she will be good to go. All in all glad she isn’t sucking up to Trish either because these divas today swear she is the god of the women’s divison..it’s so damn sickining.

Maryse’s matches with Gail and Michelle weren’t bad at all…imo ever since Maryse injury it’s like she is kind of scared to attempt anything new…it’s annoying. But I’m still a fan of hers no matter what some think of her.

I applaud the analogy but aside from the fact she’s wrong. I was impressed by Trish’s improvement; I really didn’t expect her to become what she became; having not reached that point (yet–if she ever will) Maryse might want to concentrate on improving FIRST before she’s even qualified to make such a statement. Maryse is a first generation Zune if you ask me, very buggy. However, I know it’s all in character so it doesn’t really matter.
She might want to step up her heel character, though, because that diva-ish stuff can get old really fast; that’s why I prefer McCool as a heel (in-ring) to her; the viciousness can take so many more routes than putting your hand in someone’s face and/or smirking and acting like you’re to good to fight–major/boring time-waster, etc. She does a whole lot of nothing that I can see.
