Maria herself even looked shocked… and not in a good way– in a “shit, this is all wrong” kind of way. In my opinion Melina should have won.

All i have to say is what an awful show RAW is not just the divas but the overall show WWE has sunken to the bottom.
I thought Maria winning was disgraceful but this is WWE they use the divas as a way to get their comedy routine out. Most of the time it is failed comedy and the whole Kanye thing that Batista did is stupid and it is old , Kanye is like five months ago. WWE get it together if they want to do a parody stick to something recent i mean do a Adam Lambert at the AMA’s or something.
Having them wrestle in dresses shows the WWE thinks nothing about their woman’s division now
I felt that the diva who deserved to win tonight was Melina people may say McCool because she is the number one heel now and she won the woman’s championship but in terms of storytelling and just rising out of the ashes Melina has had the best year. She has really been the one bringing the woman’s division to life this year
I credit the others like Mickie, McCool and Beth but if i feel that Melina has done more the stats have shown she has done the most matches this year. She started out the year beating Beth Phoenix and winning the Women’s title. She went Smackdown where she became the top face Diva and really set a better standard in the quality of their matches down there it seems like ever since she left the matches have not been quite as consistent.
She even went right back to Raw and became Divas Champion, I think she’s done more than McCool in terms of being an impact on the division. McCool as woman’s champion started off strong but it became uneventful and forgettable.
** Congraulations to David being a regular on the Post RAW show i love hearing your input and i did see the superstars match when Natalya slammed Jimmy Wang Yang and she great reaction from the crowd after doing this all i have to say is it was an awesome slam Natalya is disel and i send my respect to her
this woman is someone WWE should not play around with she is someone WWE can spend time investing in.

@DarkMaverick87 – I also thought that was the look on her face, a kinda “oops, sorry” expression, like legitimate surprise.
I personally think the Playboy pics have some bearing in her popularity; I really do. At that point, it doesn’t matter if you win gold or not; you’re a shoe-in for popularity. If fans have a short attention span, all they have to do is look at the pics of her again and remember. ;P I don’t find her innocent; posing nude kind of negates that, but whatever she wants to do. I just can’t forget when J.R. accused Melina (or somebody) of being “jealous” of Maria for posing in Playboy and me thinking “jealous of WHAT, exactly?!”
I think people just voted on who they thought was hottest; non-Diva fans who watch WWE wrestling won’t care about ability. And I do think that the award is a big deal, because I could imagine Divas who worked so hard during the year possibly feeling crestfallen to realize the award–which is supposed to serve as some kind of recognition of their hard work–would be decided in this way. I would imagine it equates to them “the fans don’t value what I’ve done”. But perhaps that’s just the extreme.

2006: Trish (understandable)
2007: Candice (understandable)
2008: Beth Phoenix (understandable)
2009: MARIA???????
They used to be pretty spot on with deciding the winners. Maria just ruins it. 2009 was definitely Melina or Michelle’s year.
The WWE thought about giving it to Michelle, but thought better of it because the last thing they want on a PG show is a crowd chanting “BS!” So they picked the most non-threatening Diva, Maria, instead.
This was a WWE.com vote, this is a good way of the WWE finding out who there most popular diva is, and the answer, Maria. In the past it’s been chosen by the creative team, but this year, they put it in the hands of the “WWE Universe” so anyone (but Katie Lea Burchill) could have won this, and that’s exactly what happened. Maria will never hold the Women’s Championship, only way she’ll be champion is the Diva’s Champion, after all, wasn’t that belt brought in for the lesser talented Diva’s? Don’t be so harsh on Maria, she may not be the greatest in the ring, but her character is a breath of fresh air, because she’s one of the faces I like as a character, I don’t like many others tbh. So maybe nothing will come of this, but she’s been with the company the longest, along side Melina, I don’t think she deserved it, but it could have been much worse.. what if Savannah had won? Or The Bella’s =x
OH LAWWWD… I just watched RAW that I DVR’d earlier and all I got to say is ain’t that some shit! I don’t know whats worse that whole entire segment or me actually recording and then watching 3 hours of a wrestling tragedy.
Lets not even get into the retched ensembles some of these girls tried to feed us I swear it’s a never ending story with some of them (see Bella Twins!). On top of that lets clock the “T” for one second here, if you put match together where practically the entire diva roster is involved. Why in the hell would use Rosa to go against Mickie when you have a farm field of divas to pick from to at least make the action watchable. Makes no sense what so ever, for me Maria winning shocked me for two baby seconds of my life. But What do you expect.
To add a cherry on top of the rancid inducing display, out comes Batista decked and douched out to the 5th power of Ed hardy hell. Delivering us the worst attempt at humor sense his comedy act of a beat down after his match with Rey Mysterio at survivor Series.
I don’t know much about fashion but I think Gail looked the best tonight. :^D Or last night.. whatever.
Am I allowed to curse here? Okay but anyway WTF WTF WTF Rosa mendes has done more this year than maria what is wrong with the universe the is world about to end? Will I wake up tomorrow and fire will rain from the sky will pigs actually fly. Has hell actual frozen over is the devil shitting Ice cubes now. Knockouts having mud matches, Odb jumping from steps ladders, and Maria diva of the year what has happen what has happen. Next Rosa mendes will be the women’s champion and Lacey Von Erich will become the Knockouts champ by defeating Kong and shimmer will put on gravy matches. Somebody has random vote generator and is pissing their pants somewhere its the only reasonable answer.

I’m pissed. And is not because I voted Michelle Mccool, but because such a non talented wrestler win the award. I mean, this must be a HUGE slap in the face to the other most talented Divas (Yes i think Maria is the worst wrestler in there, even worst than the Bellas).
How can someone who doesn’t know a crap about wrestling win this award? Seriously. This proves that most of the people who voted for this are a bunch of guys who think more with their penis rather than with their heads. Okay, she was on Playboy and is starring on a Reality Show. But this is a Wrestling Show, people -.-’
Well Im going to control myself or I won’t stop expressing my sour feelings towards WWE. Because this is waht it happens when you let the fans vote. Some may be intelligent and vote well, but most of them will do craps like this. Its like the Oscars. Some people may not agree with the films they choose, but if the people who doesn’t know crap about movies voted, films like Twilight would win a oscar.

Actually, now that I think about it, does it matter? Maria is like thee PERFECT candidite for the slammy of 2009. Why? This year for the divas has been chap, dissapointing, and above all … pathetic. What better way than to give the Diva of the Year 2009 Slammy to a woman who represents all of those categories. =X Harsh I know but SO SO TRUE!!! xD

The frustrating thing is that there ARE talented women in WWE and there could be very good storylines. It shouldn’t be hard to give us decent matches each week with this roster.

Maybe this will lead to a storyline in which McCool/others will target Maria for winning without “deserving it”. Perhaps then we could move on from the “Piggy James” childishness. Too much to hope for, I wonder (the latter thing, not the former–some bad matches could come out of the former, maybe :P)?
I agree that if people who don’t know anything about movies were allowed to vote, Twilight would win an Oscar. That’s what we’ve seen here in the WWE universe.
