Yesterday, we had a post about Jazz resurfacing and now today, another former Women’s Champion has resurfaced in Ivory! WWE.com caught up with the three time Women’s Champ for their ‘Where Are They Now?’ feature. In the first part of a two parter, Ivory talks about her origins in the industry working for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) as Tina Ferrari:
“It’s so hard to watch the footage because we were all so lame at what we did,” recalled the future Ivory. “We didn’t have any trainers. We pretty much figured it all out by watching men’s wrestling.
“We didn’t have anybody in Vegas. We just had videos and ring time — on a boxing mat mind you, not even a wrestling ring. The thing was stiffer than stiff, like wrestling in your living room or on plywood.”
“We were all really young and had a lot of creative freedom, which was really cool. It was like it was our show,” Moretti explained of G.L.O.W.. “Let’s do this outright, put our costumes on, and really get this thing sold, bring people in.”
Read the rest by clicking here. No talk of her 6 year WWE run in this part, that will be discussed in tomorrow’s second half of the article.
It’s nice to see WWE reaching out to a Diva that really did a lot for the company but is often forgotten, because we tend to concentrate on Trish, Lita and Victoria. No one can forget Ivory’s classic feud with The Fabulous Moolah and there were some truly memorable moments in Ivory’s WWE run including ‘injuring’ Chyna and being part of Right to Censor. And she also had a fairly successful run as a broadcaster for the company too. Mending bridges with WWE could be the first step to Ivory becoming an official member of the WWE Alumni, which would be great to see. WWE Alumni is usually the first step towards the Hall of Fame.
Do you think she’s HOF material?

I loved Ivory in the WWE, she’s still one of my favorite all-time divas. Can’t wait for the second part. <3
yes finally she’s one of my all-time favorite divas too.
The article also mentioned Ivory’s time she went with McLane to POWW as Nina…and it was true what they said about McLane–HE COULDN’T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE A BUCK!
“However, all good things must come to an end. Eventually, Moretti moved on from her success with G.L.O.W. to join the promotion’s original founder, David B. McLane, in his new organization, Powerful Women of Wrestling. After filming the first season with POWW, however, she realized that things weren’t going as she needed them.
“Jumping from G.L.O.W. to POWW, I told [McLane], ‘This is my job, and I have to make money from my job. The kind of money you’re paying is ridiculous.’”
Moretti recollected that even though she was under contract with McLane’s organization,“they just stopped paying after we were done shooting.” So when she was called to make a second season of POWW, she made the difficult decision that her young in-ring career would come to a close.
“They called and told me they were ready to make the second season,” Moretti said. “I said, ‘I think you owe me some back pay. I don’t want to quit on you, but it’s kind of silly if you can’t uphold your end of the deal.’ ”
From McLane’s Wikipedia page…
“McLane is a graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Telecommunications and a BS in Business.”
And I would not call Ivory’s complaint about McLane sour grapes. McLane was so cheap (HOW CHEAP WAS HE?!) He pinched pennies so much, tears formed down Lincoln’s face!
By the way, many of the former GLOW girls have Facebook pages, including Ashley Cartier, Tina Ferrari’s former tag team partner, Babe The Farmer’s Daughter and even Little Egypt. Included on these pages are some rare pictures of behind the scenes.
IVORY FOR HOF!
Great wrestler that never got any appreciation from the fans, although she did manage to receive a lot of heat during her RTC days, nowadays only Vicky Guerrero manages to get that amount of heat.
I like her, but I don’t see her in the Hall of Fame to soon or at all. Few female wrestlers are in the hall of fame and most of them are from the great period of the 80′s. But, even if they start hall of faming Divas, I think that only Lita and Trish will make it.
Ivory is so very underrated. Her, Molly, and Nattie have to be my favorite diva’s ever, with Jazz, Victoria, Trinity, and Jacqueline following.
i liked ivory i never knew about back stage antics when i was younger
but i remember she use 2 co host afterburn (i think it was afterburn)
with Tod then one week she wasn’t there and never came back
I love Ivory she is one of my favorite past divas. She is one of the greatest Heels of all time.
I wish she would come back as a heel in TNA or wwe
I dedicate my 1st post to Ivory, the greatest diva heel o all time….
Ivory’s great…. Great in-ring ability & great mic skills…
No other diva comes close to her…
Wish she’d be the 4th women to be on HOF….
My favorite diva of all time. shed be great as a commentator.
Ivory most definately deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. She is one of the true pioneers of women’s wrestling, and she should be recognized for that,as well as the years of service she provided to WWE in not only the ring, but training the younger divas. She is one of the most underrated, and it’d be criminal not to include her in the HOF.
These ladies are who should make it in the HOF:Trish (Duh),Lita(Yes),Molly Holly (If she doesn’t get in I will frikkin riot my head off),Victoria (Classy and sassy!),and finally, maybe Sunny/Torrie (Love ya’,Torrie!)
From the current generation, these ladies should be included after their current careers come around full-circle:Melina (Our new Sherri),Mickie (The psycho queen!),Beth (Come on,it’s Beth!),Nattie (I fully expect Nattie to rise up the ranks),and a wild card,Gail Kim (We’ll see where that goes)
For the last few days I’ve been watching her stuff with Sable, Tori and Jacqueline in 1999-2000. Even then there was a legit women’s division going and she was huge in it. So much energy, awesome in the ring. Ivory was great!
Ivory will probably be remembered best for her days in RTC in particular her fued with Chyna which culminated in a super squash match at Wrestlemania. I dont think she’s at HOF level but I wouldnt mind seeing her inducted with the rest of the WWE Alumni, HOF Diva’s should definitely be CHYNA, Trish, Lita, SABLE (who is the reason we have divas today) and perhaps Mickie and Melina further down the road depending on how their careers pan out. Lilian will probably be inducted at somepoint too.
I always liked Ivory and thought she had a lot of skill. I remember her training wrestlers on Tough Enough. She’s one of the few WWE female wrestlers I don’t regard as Divas and that I think could be in the HOF, along Molly Holly, Jazz, Jacqueline, Chyna, and Victoria.
