As revealed last week, Christy Hemme has been moved into a broadcasting role due to her neck injury at the beginning of the year. Hemme has now announced her retirement from active competition.

The Knockout says that she is healthy and her neck is fine, however she is considering her long-term health.

Speaking on her official podcast [who knew she had one?], Hemme says she made her decision after a six-Knockout tag team match featuring herself, ODB and Hamada against The Beautiful People. She says: “For the first time in wrestling, I was totally nervous. [...] I knew in that match I was done.”

Hemme continues with the story of what she told TNA management: “I came in the next week and told TNA I was done physically wrestling within the women’s division and if they had anything else that they wanted me to be part of.”

  1. Shame – I’ll miss her in the ring!

Good luck with anything else you do and I hope you stay on as a back stage announcer.

  2. Well she sucked in the ring.Hopefully, some shimmer girls will take her spot.

  3. A lot of wrestlers keep going despite bad injuries and never think about their personal future, so good for her for getting out while she still can walk. Hopefully TNA continue to use her in other roles, she’s got a ton of personality and charisma. :)

  4. Well, she never was a good performer. However she is charismatic and could be used as an anouncer or even manager

  5. i always liked christy
i know she wasn’t the best but i liked her matches
I’m sad she never held a title now tho :(

i recently found out she was meant to take the title on the PPV she never made it to (against kong) due to her neck injury. kong was also out with back pain if i remember right

if your wondering what I’m on about it was mentioned on the spin cycle
(tracey says something about christy missing out on gold or something, christy replys “i know i’m sad about that…never mind….. inside joke there”)

  6. Glad to hear her neck is fine, previous reports made it sound like it was badly injured again.

But good news that she stays out of the ring, after 5 years all she had was a lame legdrop that was as effective as Kelly’s cartwheel. This will open up some room for one of the other knockouts (face turn for Madison in the future?), or maybe 1 of the indie girls that will appear in the tournament might make a good impression with the creative staff.

  7. She may not have been the best wrestler, but its always sad to see a wrestler retire. She’s very charasmatic though, and hopefully she’ll stay in TNA as an interviewer/valet.

  8. Good for her. I still don’t think she was that bad of a wrestler.. Just got the bad luck of having to be “pushed as equal” to people she clearly wasn’t equal to (aka Trish and Kong). She looked bad in those matches because there’s no way in hell you can fake believe Christy can kick Trish or Kong’s ass.

Hopefully TNA keeps her around. Not cuz I am a fan, but she can really do a lot of good for the company. They don’t have a lot of Knockouts that are typically “marketable”.. Meaning they don’t have a lot of women who look very hot in simpy clothing, are personable/charismatic and can talk. This would keep TNA from having to find someone to help with advertising.

  9. aw, if only she was still with the WWE, she has a lot of charisma and she isn’t too bad of a wrestler and can take bumps.

  10. it’s very sad to see another orginal knockout retire or leave, she may not have been the best wrestler but it’s still sad to see her go

with sojo, christy, and angelina gone,TNA needs to start signing some new girls, the tag tournment is the perfect opportunity,TNA LETS START BUSTING OUT THOSE CONTRACT OFFERS

  11. i think its the right thing to do sure is gonna miss that FFG. lol

  12. Well, she’s got to do what’s best for her health. Can’t blame her for that.

Another departure (sort of) could mean a new influx of talent soon as the active roster is getting a little spare. That always gets me excited. I continue to hold out hope for Sara Del Rey and the Canadian Ninjas.

  13. They need to make her a manager/valet for some guy they’re trying to push. As people have already mentioned, she’s one of their top actresses and so this would probably be the best use of her abilities. Who knows? She might be really damn good at it and chart out a new longterm career path as a manager.

  14. I am really gonna miss her being in the ring and to think i’m not gonna seeing her FFG anymore :(
