I assumed this would happen.
I hope Trish wins, and I expect her to, though, Lita was a big character this year.
Trish really showed how amazing she was in all aspects, Smart, Sexy and Powerful.
Her storylines/matches always went pretty well, and she carried a lot of the newer divas to success.
However, so did Lita.
I really think this one is wide open, but I will devote my vote to Ms. Stratus.
Not a surprising top 2, as these two are undoubtedly the women of the decade. Personally I think it should be a joint title as they both deserve, but as I have to chose, Lita takes the edge for me (no pun intended).
i would say that im upset that melina didnt make it but i think these 2 deserve it alot because they really put the women’s/diva divison on the map. lita showed that girls can be high flyers and trish showed…alot of skin lol and that you can come from being a model to being a 7 time womens champ.
i’m pleased that trish and lita are the last two, there wasn’t really anybody more deserving of it.
even though i’m more of a lita fan, as she’s one of the first few to open my eyes where women’s wrestling is concerned, i’m afraid i’ll have to go for trish on this one.
sunny may say she was the first diva, and sable may say the word was made for her, but trish will always be the definition of a diva.
i without hesitation chose Lita,. although Lita has never really been my favourite diva i think she deserves this title so badly.. i know its only a competition from a womens wrestling fanpage but it does mean something to me to see her win as.
1, she was incredibly underated and to see her win this would show how much the fans appreciated her.
2, she was a great wrestler, better than Trish.
3, and while i think that Trish had some great feuds ie mickie james, steph mcmahon. i think Lita had even better feuds like her ones with chyna and victoria. .
and to be honest i dont think it really matters how many times trish won the belt because she didnt win it because she was the women of the decade, she won the title seven times because people backstage kept getting the belt put on her.
Can’t see it being anyone other than Trish. She took a womens division that was a complete joke and made it onto something respectable. She was the total package, great looking, athletic, excellent mike skills.
Meh, how predictable are people nowdays??
I vote Trish, she truly is the “Diva of the Decade” in terms of overall character, but if it was actually about in-ring talent and charisma, someone like Molly Holly or Jacqueline should have it in the bag.
Oh well, congratulations Trish Stratus! She deserves it for mixing the whole women division and changing men views on the WWE Divas.
Well, who else could the top two be?!It would be an absolute crime if these two weren’t in the top two.It would just be wrong!
For real,Trish deserves this title. She may be the cliche choice, but there’s a reason she is that cliche choice. When you hear the word “Diva” or “Women’s wrestler”,Trish comes to mind.
When you look back in history Trish was at the forefront of every single major women’s feud, and for good reason. She kept our interest week in and week out,and she could put on some amazing matches!Sure she might not be the best *technical* wrestler, but Trish Stratus had the best matches out of any women in the entire WWE throughout her entire career. She was the one putting on the memorable matches, the unfrogettable feuds, the fantastic promos, etc.
This woman had it all, which is why I believe she deserves the “Woman of The Decade” title.
(But I wouldn’t be surprised or shocked at all if Lita won,she has a huge fan-base and had a great career,so she deserves the title as well)
I voted Lita. Trish was never a good wrestler, she just had a good character. And, with all the hardship that Lita received from the fans in her final few years in wrestling (which had nothing to do with said ‘fans’), I think she really deserves it. It takes an extremely strong person to still stand up tall and proud despite people (literally) screaming extremely rude and personal remarks at you. Lita ftw. :D
Well… Trish and Lita are the obvious choices and they both deserve it. I have to say though that I am disappointed that Melina or Torrie Wilson won’t be taking the crown. I think Melina is the next big thing as far as women’s wrestling goes. As for Torrie Wilson, she is THE veteran diva in my opinion. She did it all… valet, wrestler, promotional work for both companies, she’s crossed other to other media outlets (with Playboy and I’m A Celebrity). I think it’s terrible that she doesn’t have a title reign to show for it, so I was hoping she would win this. But again, Trish and Lita, from a wrestling standpoint and wrestling alone, they are both very deserving to be in the final two. But as far as having the whole package goes (as well as having untapped potential… for shame WWE), it’s Torrie all the way.
Trish will win this no doubt.
Lita and Trish Stratus? Thank God. I was afraid this would turn out to be some popularity contest resulting in like Kelly Kelly winning or something. GO LITA!
Trish for me,love Lita but her impact on womens wrestling was mainly around the 2000-2001 area,Trishs impact was every year of her career
Go Figure !
I knew these two were gonna be the finalists
I’m still voting for Lita.
I still think that Trish is good. As some of you say, Trish is the complete package. She is athletic and charismatic.
However, I always see Trish as the prototype–the perfected formula of what a real “diva” stands for. She deserved the title Diva of the Decade when she got it.
However, we are voting for the “Woman of the Decade.” Lita was the ore–the main ingredient of the prototype that ushered in women like Trish who are followed by other women; WWE seems to be shaping Michelle McCool in that manner and she is doing considerably fine.
That being said, theoretically, there can be another Trish Stratus because but there can never be another Lita because she is raw, she was harvested and experimented upon–not manufactured. And that uniqueness was a form of hope for people like Mickie James, Melina, Beth, etc.
I so agree with The Crying Light. Lita was one of a kind. You can’t duplicate her like you could/can Trish. Lita did time in Mexico, learning from them, going through the ropes, earning her dues like Trish never had to. Lita did time in ECW (admittedly during it’s dying years, but it was still the original ECW) and busted her ass, learning even more.
Trish was a fitness model before coming in. Lita actually paid her dues before finally making it to the big leagues. Lita showed that women could be high flyers like the men, and showed that they could be as tough as the men – she’s the only woman to ever get physically involved in a TLC match, to this day.
She’s the only woman the WWE ever trusted to main event Raw. Not once but TWICE. Her feud with Stephanie came before Trish’s feud with Stephanie, and it was far more memorable because of the way it was cultivated and grown before fully flowering with the title win on the main event of RAW in 2000. I can still remember her in tears, holding up the title, being held aloft on the Hardy Boys’ shoulders as the crowd chanted her name. It was a spell binding moment, unequaled in the history of the women’s division in the WWE. And her other main event on RAW had her getting another title win over Trish in a hard fought match that the crowd was behind her all the way.
She wasn’t the most technical wrestler – neither was Trish. Lita’s wrestling could be sloppy but she didn’t hurt anyone – only herself at times. But she came back. And during all that crap with Adam and Matt, all the abuse she got, she held her head up and she did her job. She busted her ass to put on a great performance, even while getting verbally slammed every night. A lot of women would’ve quit sooner and more unprofessionally.
Not Amy Dumas. She stayed as long as she could, helped put over Mickie and other women, and when it was time to go she left after putting over MJ once last time. she didn’t quit or storm out. She did her job.
This isn’t Diva of the Decade. This is Woman of the Decade. Lita may not’ve had the title as many times as Trish, and Trish may’ve gone out as the WWE’s “Golden Girl”, but Lita got a reaction the very first time she moonsaulted after Essa Rio’s first match, and she didn’t stop getting a reaction (good or bad) from the crowd through to her very last match. You could love or hate her but you could never ignore her. Lita’s impact spanned from 2000 to 2006 until she said her goodbyes. She opened the door for so many others that didn’t fit the “Diva” mould, the “Sable” mould. She proved it was okay to look different, that women could bleed and still kick ass.
For all the abuse she got towards the end, for all her contributions to women’s wrestling, for making women’s wrestling *interesting* again, for all the injuries and the sacrifice she gave, Amy Dumas deserves to be Woman of the Decade.
what a rigged vote. no doubt trish will win. i voted for a true wrestler. go Lita!
“She’s the only woman the WWE ever trusted to main event Raw. Not once but TWICE.”
Trish also main evented Raw along side Lita.
For me, it depends what you are looking for. The bigger star or the bigger impact.
Lita was no doubt the bigger star. However, she didn’t do much for the other divas. Her booking in matches were all about making HER look like the BEST while disowning the other chicks, much like Michelle’s matches. Her attitude also showed it. She hated working with chicks who didn’t come in as wrestlers and looked down on them.
But Trish has the bigger impact. She helped elevate Lita. She helped get Molly over back in 2000. She helped with making people give a damn about the Diva matches that didn’t involve showing your underwear and/or didn’t involve Lita. Was she over used? Prolly. But it’s not like Jazz, Molly or Jackie Moore oozed charisma. Nor is it like Lita was around to help carry the load of the women’s division. But the best part is that her matches go better as her career went on.
EBMICH: “Her attitude also showed it. She hated working with chicks who didn’t come in as wrestlers and looked down on them.”
I can’t say I disagree because I have no proof that negates it. But at the same time, I can’t BELIEVE that either. After all, it is very easy to say something like this without being held accountable for it. ;)
EBMICH: “Her booking in matches were all about making HER look like the BEST while disowning the other chicks, much like Michelle’s matches.”
But she didn’t make those bookings, did she? :) And was she not “generally” more convincing than McCool because of her image and her style?
EBMICH: “[Trish] helped elevate Lita.”
In what way is that? As far as I can recall, Lita was already at a high point just a month after she debut with Essa Rios. And people only started really noticing Trish as a solid figure when she began feuding with Lita and the Hardy Boys.
EBMICH: “Was she over used?”
Yes. For someone who, as you say, is helping the women’s division by putting off women like Molly, etc, yes. She was. And where was Lita, she was a heel thrown into a feud with Matt and Edge because Hardy acted very immaturely regarding the affair and the WWE saw an opportunity to create an absolutely reviled villain in Lita. And that feud, despite being distasteful, does go beyond the Divas, does it not?
EBMICH: But the best part is that her matches go better as her career went on.
At least we can agree on one thing now, can’t we? ;)
both deserve it they did so much we don’t need to bad mouth either girl to get one over they are both incredible and will both be in the hall of fame in do time and they will always be remembered as the best of this decade one never really above the other the rock and stone cold of the women’s wrestling
My vote will always go to Lita. Trish was carried throughout her entire career. Whatever Diva she went up against pretty much had to carry the match. If it was Trish vs a Diva that wasn’t up to par then it was horrible, because Trish can’t carry a match. (Trish vs Jackie Gayda) (Trish Vs Christy) (Trish Vs Stacy or Torrie) They were all bad unless there was a good diva facing her.
Trish is shown around like some icon for Women’s wrestling. NO! Lita came in and made women’s wrestling into something to watch. Let’s see her firsts : Main Event RAW, Female to be involved in a cage match and TLC match. She’s the only woman that actually had a match with Chyna. Trish Vs Chyna was a clothesline, military press, pin.
No woman has ever redefined women’s wrestling like Lita. She reached popularity levels that nobody can even comprehend. Did you listen to the difference in the audience at the 15th RAW Anniversary when Trish and Lita came in. Trish was loud, but Lita made her’s sound like a whisper. She’s the woman of the decade not Trish!
