Diva Dirt Woman of the Decade is…

You have voted in your thousands and we can now reveal that the winner of the Diva Dirt Woman of the Decade award is…

Yes indeed, your Woman of the Decade is Lita! The 4-time Women’s Champion helped revolutionise women’s wrestling in the WWE with her unique wrestling style and looks. Far from the ‘cookie cutter’ representation of the WWE Divas, Lita was the anti-Diva for many fans and perhaps this explains her popularity with fans to this day. Her punk-rock attitude and style set her apart from the other Divas while she was also daring in the ring. During her time in WWE, Lita formed alliances with The Hardy Boys, Edge and Kane while also competing in the first ever Divas steel cage match and main eventing Raw with Trish Stratus. After 7 years, Lita retired at Survivor Series in 2006.

And with more than 5000 votes cast throughout the past 4 weeks, Lita beats 15 other women to become your Woman of the Decade.

In the final round, Lita edged out fellow finalist Trish Stratus with 56% of the vote.

So there you have it. The search is over. You have crowned Lita as your most influential Diva or Knockout of the past 10 years — your Woman of the Decade!

Congrats to Lita. Personally, I think she’s wayyyyy overrated and was one of the WWE’s top botch queens for a while. But you can’t deny the crowd ate her up. Plus, I tip my hat to any woman willing to lace up the boots. So, yeah…congrats. LOL

Well-deserved. Seeing as how PWI named Trish their Woman of the Decade, it’s only fitting that Lita is named Woman of the Decade by Diva Dirt as well. But really, this is like Trish winning Critic’s Choice while Lita wins People’s Choice… so in any event, they’re even now. :) Someone send Lita a note of this, please.

:::Okay Trish had more charisma than Lita.:::
Sorry, amare135, but I’d have to disagree. Lita had entire arenas chanting her name as a face, and had entire arenas throwing jibes at her as a heel. I don’t remember anyone starting a chant for Trish other than ‘We want puppies!’

kerry246 : A typical response from you. Do you really think that your alternative view means that you are “thinking?” Judging by your rationalization of as to why you hate Lita fans and as to why you like Trish, it is clear that you are also in a bandwagon of your own. :) How comical.

Moving on to more important though not so pressing matters…

Both women deserve recognition. Both of them left their own mark in the industry. They had their own strengths and their own weaknesses. If it was possible to have a tie, I would’ve gone for that. And as much as I would like to rationalize why I admire them… I’d rather state that the connection was mostly visceral. :)

I am very please with this!! I am happy that Lita won and also that Trish was runner up..One thing I love about Lita is that the fans got Behind her as much as they did to the Main Event superstars. And she truly revolutionize the Divas…In my opinion Trish defined a Dedication while, Lita defined the Pasion. Do I see any of the current Divas come as far as Lita and Trish maybe Mickie and Melina. Why some are being Disrespectful to them there is no point. I dont know if you are consider the best for having the most title holds but I think they paid the way to all today!

i can’t help but express how happy i am about lita winning this award. this is the least that can be given to anyone who is still known as a die-hard lita fan. it was absouletly heart-breaking to see a woman who put her heart and soul into wrestling, go out the way she did. wrestling was her life, and her return from a broken neck is a testament to that. she had passion, and heart and that’s what what made lita, lita. i am not a lita-mark by any means, just a very proud fan. (i was the proud owner of xtremequeen.org for 3 years) i will not call her the greatest women’s wrestler of all time, because she wasn’t. but she damn well was one of the greatest women’s sport entertainers of HER time.

@ kerry246 – you say lita “faked” the punk image. today, amy dumas is the lead singer of her punk-rock band. need i say more? hell…it’s been a while since i’ve done this. she wasn’t fake in the least. her popularity with the fans was not just in her ability to connect with them in ways that didn’t just involve blonde hair and T&A…it was her attitude, and her REALNESS. lita didn’t play a character, she was the same person in and out of the ring. it wasn’t until her later years with the company that you can argue that she was playing a character. i don’t see how she was “rammed down our throats”, the wwe saw the popularity she gained, and they utilized it to the fullest. that’s what they do best after all…they did this again during the whole lita, edge, matt hardy saga, putting her personal life on display for the world to see…why? because it’s what the people wanted to see.

i don’t see how there can be arguements in her winning by “lita fans” coming together and voting over and over again for her. if that’s so then why didn’t she win diva dirt’s queen of the ring, when the final two were the same two women involved in this tournament? and being a lita fan, i have to say…i don’t come across too many people who are still as loyal to call themselves a “fan” of hers. i honestly think this was a very well deserved victory for amy. i believe people who may not have liked lita as much as trish, or even people who have lita at the bottom of their favorites list, still voted for her in appreciation for what she did, and contributed during her time spent as a diva.

you look at her last day with the company, and you look at trish’s. a storybook ending for trish, and a send-off royally unfit for a woman who dedicated seven years of her life to the company. you look at all the awards and recognition trish gets over and over again…this is the least that amy deserves for her time entertaining wrestling fans as “lita.”

    congratulations amy :)

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woooooooooot! After one of the worst days ever this bit of news has made it better! I’ve been a Lita fan since the beginning, and it’s great to see her come out on top, especially after how badly she was treated towards the end of her career. High fives to all the Lita fans!

This was by far shocking—not the fact that Lita won, but the fact that Trish lost by 12 percent of the vote count (if Lita truly did get 56 percent of the votes, unless there was estimation). I thought the percent difference would have been a lot closer; I guess I was wrong. Even though she didn’t get my vote, I congratulate Lita.

Just for my own satisfaction… Agent E, charisma isn’t evaluated by how much reaction a superstar can generate from the crowd. A great example of this would be Ivory. She had (and still has) a ton of charisma, but she never got the reactions that Trish Stratus and Lita could get on any given night. Does that mean she was stale and boring? I don’t think so, but maybe you do. I think you’re measuring popularity here, and popularity is not the same thing as charisma. Again, for my own satisfaction…

I always liked both especially when Trish went heel, but I always preferred Lita just that little bit more & was disgusted at the way the wwe handled her departure so I am really happy that she won. My all time favorite was Molly Holly but I knew she wouldn’t win unless the vote was for best technical wrestler but there have been many really good female wrestlers over the past 10 years when you think about it but only one could win, congratulations to Lita.

xflygurlx16, how can you possibly be glad that Trish Stratus didn’t win because “she’s won enough over the years”? That is completely illogical. If a person, in this case an athlete, has performed with accuracy and precision throughout the majority of his or her career, why is it not okay for him or her to receive numerous awards “over the years”? Take for example Tiger Woods—he is arguably the best professional golfer in the United States (if not the world) to date. He wins numerous awards and championships. However, according to your statements above, he shouldn’t win anymore awards because he’s already won too many (?). Does that sound reasonable at all?

Just to clear any misunderstandings, I’m not, by any means, claiming that Trish Stratus was the greatest wrestler in the history of women’s wrestling. She wasn’t; however, I would go as far as to say that she was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, entertainers in the history of women’s wrestling—the total package, which is why she has won and will continue to win numerous awards.

In conclusion, xflygurlx16, I believe you to be irrational if you can say that Trish Stratus shouldn’t win anymore awards because “she’s won enough over the years.” I also believe you to be immature because of the last comment you made, whether or not it was directed towards me.

I’d be happy for Lita, but as soon as she wins, all of her idiot fans come out and use the tired “Trash” insults towards Trish. Quick question for you Lita fans: which diva has a history of sleeping with multiple guys? Oh, that’s right, it’s Lita. Insulting any woman in defense of Lita is truly a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

This poll was basically a chance for you Trish haters/Lita fans to give your girl a victory. You guys are so sick of Trish getting accolades, and you finally stuffed the ballot box enough to deny her something. Congrats. Trish fans didn’t care about the result nearly as much, because as you guys so elegantly put it, she “wins everything”. Boo hoo. Now Lita won, and you will hopefully shut up. Trish will keep doing what she’s doing, getting offers left and right, while Lita can perform her music in front of sold out crowds of 20 people in a bar.

Lita deserves this, whoever’s pissed off that Trish didn’t win should really get over it, Lita and Trish did a lot for the women’s division of the WWE, this specific award has gone to Lita, it’s not as if Trish isn’t also recognised for her efforts elsewhere.

To justbringit, Lita has a history of sleeping with multiple guys? Really? Not a lot of people only sleep with one person in their entire life, the woman’s had what, 4 boyfriends we officially know of, it’s hardly a truckload.

Oh and to the people who wrote this article, Lita main evented RAW in 2000 with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley before she main evented with Trish.
