Divas Champion, Melina was injured at a house show last night during a six-Diva Santa’s Little Helper match.
Melina visibly hurt her right leg during the bout and had to be helped to the back afterwards. The match was given a quick finish after the injury, at this time trainers came down to the ring and threw up an ‘X’ sign signifying an injury. PWInsider reports that there is a fear that Melina may have torn her ACL.
We’ll have further updates as we receive them. For now, our best wishes to Melina on a speedy recovery.

The curse strikes again first maryse and then michelle and now melina:( I hope her injury isn’t as bad as it looks.
Wow, almost one year to the day Maryse had her injury too eh? Let’s hope for the best.
Oh god, what will happen to the Divas title? Only one good thing I can see come from this, Gail becomes the Divas championship via a tournament or becomes #1 contender at least so there’s a plus, because there are no other viable faces on RAW atm.
Damn!!! Her injury was exactly 1 year after she became #1 contender for the Women’s title, I don’t think the Diva’s title will vacate since it didn’t with most of previous injuries (Michelle, Marysse, Trish), but if it so, it seems pretty much it would be dropped to Marysse sooner than they -wwe- wanted to, if they ever wanted Marysse to win it from the feud. Altough the most decent choice IS Gail Kim, when the hell has wwe done decent choices conceirning to the women’s division?? & since Gail Kim is the most viable face on Raw (keep in mind the draft is coming…), is even worse to think it could mean another looooong-fakey title reign for Marysse, but after all I really really hope is not a serious injury & Melina gets well so soon. YES IS A CURSE!!!
Though I don’t know how they would do it, I think a smart thing might be to turn Maryse face and let her fill the top babyface on raw slot. She’s already over with the crowd, though they boo, it’s still a reaction! Also, this might give her a chance to actually wrestle. As we’ve all pointed out, she runs around and flips her hair. . . But, things like her spinning backbreaker make me think she might know what she’s doing. Also, she had good matches on Smackdown. If they put Maryse in the top babyface position then they can have her feud with Fox, who has already proven herself. OR, Gail can turn with the not so unheard of, “What about me!?” angle.
Not only would this change things up, but it might produce better matches. Kelly is also the perfect partner for Maryse, they could make a face beautiful people stable. :]
I’m just ready to see a change in Maryse.

Poor Melina, I guess Maryse will be getting the title now. This is a shame but I hope Gail kim captures the title soon.
i must admit, i do love the idea of a divas belt curse – as if the wrestling spirit of torrie wilson is kicking these girls asses with a “it was supposed to be mine!”
good luck and healage to melina. although to be fair, as champion, she’s not been featured on tv all too much anyway. they can get away with it, if she isn’t injured too badly. they could have maryse beat other diva fodder, bella, eve for instance, maybe even jillian or alicia? throw in a few gimmicky tag matches and a no.1 battle royal, should be plenty to fill out the weeks before a melina comeback – unless it’s something really seirous of ocurse.

Anyway… I hope Melina is not too injured. I would love to see her feud with Maryse. Despite my inability to believe that she is “the queen,” she is not that bad as a heel and would work well with Melina. But of course, that’s just my opinion. ;)

Some of these comments are seriously low-brow. Injuries are serious and shouldn’t be made light of, especially considering that they happen in matches that are for our entertainment.

This is a sad reminder that although the matches are predetermined the competitors are fantastic athletes and put their bodies on the line every night. If it is an ACL tear, the good news is that the surgery is SO much better than it used to be. I had my ACL reconstructed in 2003 and it was a super recovery with minimal scarring. For an athlete like Melina, she’ll pull through even better and hopefully be back in 10-12 months (if that is indeed the injury). Maybe the injury is less severe once the docs look at it.
3 knee injuries in a year(4 if you coun’t Maryse’s second). Those gals are really taking some heavy bumps. :(
Injuries are only “good” in a sense for the male wrestlers because it involves the top guys who won’t give up the spotlight for the young guys to shine. For divas, it’s bad. The top divas are usually the ones who can either wrestle, act in character, or both. When Maryse went down, Raw was in shambles. True, she’s not an elite wrestler. But she cut the best promos and gets the crowd watching her. When she was out, no one could carry Raw. A lot of the divas generate little to no reaction from the crowd, which factors in to them being used on the show. Most of us want to see Gail or Alicia, but Gail gets no pop (unless she’s doing high spots) and Alicia gets zero heat. Anyone from FCW will need time to develop on-screen characters, which is impossible on Raw. Melina’s injury is very bad for Raw and WWE. There aren’t any experienced faces left besides Gail. So it looks like Gail will finally get her deserved push, but it will flop big time if she’s not able to get over. I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE decides to push Eve or Kelly instead.

Raw was boring without Maryse. No one had personality. No one could act. No one could talk. When Maryse came back, it got interesting again. There’s a pulse now. You even admit to it. “Maryse gets heat & cheers.” Who else gets that besides her and Kelly? No one. I can make the case that Melina only gets pop for her leg splits. Raw still needs work. But it needs both Maryse and Melina. The others so far aren’t getting it done.

This is like the Candice Michelle Champioship hex!! I hope she is OK at doesn’t required that much of treatments…This is so devastating because of her being the top diva on Raw! I hope is nothing serious and she will recover soon! If not WWE needs to learn how to use Gail/Eve and Jillian because if not Raw Divas are screw!

On the ‘bright’ side, perhaps this will give them an excuse to retire the Diva’s title and just give up on the Raw women’s division, if you can call it that. They can send the more noteworthy and over women to SD and make Raw the new 2002-onwards version of SmackDown, with a Torrie Wilson-like figure in Kelly or Maryse or whoever.
I hate this, because Melina’s pretty much the only reason I still watch wrestling (well, and Cody Rhodes, I guess), but it gives her time to freshen her character and come back better than ever. Perhaps they can even bring her back in a non-wrestling capacity sooner rather than later. I mean, she was the best manager WWE produced in a long, long time back when she was in MNM, so it might be a good idea. I’d love-love-love to see the return of bitchy Melina. I miss her. :(

This is awful for Melina >_> I may not have been a big supporter of her in the past few months but any injury is bad and it’s a huge hit to not only raw but herself. I hope it doesn’t turn out as bad as word is making it since I read she was able to walk out on gerweck i think

This absolutely sucks, Melina’s time out will be a huge blow to the division. This is the main problem with the Raw writers in particular, they havent built any other babyfaces aside from Melina and Mickie James so if either one is out, a show goes without a draw for the division.
This is the PERFECT opportunity to have Gail step up and do her thing, however Gail has literally no character or build, so putting her against Maryse could be a curse. Knowing the WWE theyll probably trade the likes of Beth or someone from smackdown to fill the void randomly.
Very sad news … but I do not see it as an opening for Gail Kim. Kelly Kelly will be put up against Maryse and Ms. Kim will simply be saved for another time later in 2010, or they will bring Beth back to take on Maryse.
And speaking of injuries and these professional women wrestlers if WWE did not try and squeeze in every Diva match in four minutes time frame and under there would not be so many accidents, so many injuries and so much chaos to begin with but …
Expect the totally illogical from WWE and then you will not be disappointed.

Apparently the is still hope of Melina´s injury to be a mere exageration.It was reported in her Official Website that Melina is apparantly still touring with the rest of the roster which most likely elimanate the possibility of a serious injury..an ACL injury is one to be attended immediately…so if she still touring that must mean she is okay.The info behind the allegations was a twitter posted by the Bellas(who surprise had nothign else to do, I´m thankful for once though lol) after the house show was over..

I guess we can never be sure but it gives some hope lol.Hopefully they are right.And I apologize if these news of the posibilitie of Melina not being injured upset some of the people here..judging by some disrespectful comments…an injury is a serious setback and it shouldnt be by any means celebrated..especially when expectations are low with The Wwe´s handling of the Divas in Raw.

Melina doesn’t have an official website or Twitter or Facebook for that matter.
I don’t mean this disrespectfully, but I do hope that someone else, whose underrated, such as a Gail Kim becomes the Divas Champion. That doesn’t mean that I’m being disrespectful, I’m simply voicing my opinion and with Melina out of the picture, although I hope she has a speedy recovery, other Divas will be put into the top babyface role, hopefully. As for Maryse, I’m hoping that she does become the Divas Champion again.
bonepile – Realistically, you’re right. If any babyface character is going to be given the chance to grab a hold of the championship, it’s Kelly Kelly, not Gail Kim. However, people can dream, right? :D
I could see Melina keeping the Diva’s Championship and WWE still having her make appearances on RAW to continue the storyline with Maryse. This would give them time to build up the feud and when Melina is cleared to wrestle, there will be a backstory and heat.
From the reports given by people who were there, this sounds like a total freak accident as Melina was apparently chasing Katie Lea early in the match and just slipped, with the match ending not too long after that. Just one of the things you would never see coming as it’s a seemingly harmless spot to do but obviously wasn’t in this case.

You hit it right on the head! I hate how WWE only focuses on the top two divas (heel and face) when doing a fued on a brand. No one on RAW generates a reaction from the crowd besides Melina, Kelly & Maryse because the WWE divas have no character development! So the only logically match to go with so the fans aren’t bored to the prink of tears would be Kelly vs. Maryse but we’ve seen that before & it was god awful! So WWE basically screws themselves over but do you think they care? Oh well, i guess we’ll see how they figure this one out. They’ll probably unlogically bring over Maria or something.

Me thinks this means a title reign for Maryse, and a feud with Kelly Kelly. It would seem more logical to feud with Gail, but I doubt the WWE will consider this.
chrisP — One of the theories we discussed on D3 was how it possibly could have been an accident due to her wearing the furry boots. She hasn’t worn them in a couple of years because she said they she found it hard to wrestle in them. If you look at the image, she’s wearing her furry boots for this match.
wow thats a heavy blow to the raw divas division. hope its not bad. on another note though melina wrestles alicia fox thursday on superstars wwe can do an angle where alicia fox injured melina and she can finally get some serious heat! or they can do an angle on raw where maryse went crazyy on melina and injured her putting her out of action! then kelly,eve or gail could be the saviour that fueds with alicia fox or maurice (lol) for the divas title!

This may not be what most want, but….I kind of wish they would give the title to Kelly Kelly. I mean Kelly may not be the best wrestler ever but come on, she is far better than Maryse. Maryse has about 2 moves that look like they wouldnt even hurt an old lady. In all honesty Gail is better than all of them but realistically I could never see them giver her the title. She doesnt get any typoe of pop at all and we all know Kelly does. I never truly hated her, I just think because she isnt as good as some others we like to pick on her.
If there IS such thing as a Divas championship curse, I pray that Kelly Kelly is next in line for the belt.
PS. It’s too bad they didn’t get Gail started on these Raw promos a few weeks (even MONTHS) back. She could have instantly filled the void that is now Melina.
