Diva Dirt has independently confirmed reports that Divas Champion, Melina has torn her ACL. The newly crowned Diva Dirt Diva of the Year was given a full diagnosis yesterday.
As of now, Melina could be out for three to five months, though it is too soon to tell. Melina is awaiting results of an MRI undergone yesterday before choosing a course of action.
A source close to Melina tells us that the Divas Champion is in good spirits though obviously upset.
As for her title status, Melina will be in attendance at Raw on Monday night. It’s expected that she will relinquish the Divas Championship on the show. This is just conjecture on my part but it’s likely a new champion will be crowned on the same night.
Once again, our sincere best wishes to Melina on a speedy recovery. Please keep Melina in your thoughts!

an ACL injury is very serious and the last thing you do is think about coming back when you know your not ready,the 3-5 months will most likely be a 5/8 months so I doubt we’ll see much of melina in 2010,get well
maryse will obviously be the next champion but who knows,maybe WWE will throw us a curveball and make someone else champion like maybe Gail kim??? nah maryse will win it-_-

This is bad news especially for someone hardworking as Melina who rightfully deserves be the top diva right now she needs to focus on getting better.
People need to be positive on the RAW brand it is time that we see a new breakout star maybe Gail Kim will be used she got some camera time last Monday maybe WWE is thinking about using her.
It would be great for the RAW brand she take Melina’s spot until she gets back and Gail Kim is capable of working well with the other days.
Maybe Katie Lea should be called to the RAW brand they need a diva to take Beth’s spot and Katie it would be the perfect time for her to come in.
I am going to call this one and say that the wwe will give Melina her Do’s and allow her to tell the wwe universe that she is injured and will not be able to hold the wwe Diva Title anymore resulting in a divas battle royal with the winner being named the divas champion which will probably be maryse but honestly i wouldn’t be shocked if wwe gave it to Gail and kept this whole Heel vs Face feud but this time between Gail and Maryse they cant really just make Mayse the target and give her the title just after a few months, i like this whole Chasing the Gold thing she gots going on. Also I hope Melina gets better why did this really have to happen to her come on….

I am happy that this opens up the RAW brand a bit and that Gail and Jillian might get a run with the title, and a good one at that.
One thing I just realised, if the WWE gives it to Maryse, then their logic between the males and females will be vastly different. When Rey had to give up the IC title, he didn’t give it to his rival, Dolph. He gave it to JoMo. If the WWE give it to Maryse, they’re practically saying that Maryse was supposed to be champion so we’ll just give it to her, without having her fight for it in a feud, unlike the JoMo situation.

ReyStyle94 — The IC Title situation is what I’ve been quietly hopeful for. I’d like to see them swerve us and put the belt on a babyface rather than giving it to Maryse straightaway. You’d have an instant feud there between Maryse and the new Divas Champ, it seems the only reason Maryse targeted Melina was because she was champ and that could be carried over to the new champion too. Alas, we all know Creative’s creativity is vastly different for the men and women.
I totally hope that Melina cuts a injury promo on RAW. And like TheHartDynasty said have a Divas Battle Royal to determine the new champion. Of course it will be Maryse winning it which is stink but at least this opens doors for Gail Kim and Eve maybe. I’d laugh if Kelly won.

Damn, its just not right not seeing Melina for six months. I can see her on TV for in a promotional role but damn, its not the same! Normally I’d wish a speedy recovery but I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say take your time and come back stronger then ever. Get well Ms A-List!
Here’s to a safe recovery for Melina! I won’t say “speedy” because I think it’s better for her to return when she’s healed 100% then to rush her return.

They should have a Battle Royal for The Divas Title , Gail Kim , Alicia or Jillian winning then they can fued with maryse. But Maryse is already getting the title they confirmed it. Plus she was going to get it anywas a source says.
In all honestly this is a bad situation for Raw Their top babyface is out of action and there is no definate answer when she will be back. I dont think that Maryse is ready to hold the Divas title again at this moment in time. The best thing to do is look at who the hot feud is right now on Raw and that in all seriousness is Kelly and Maryse. They could do a battle royal for the title and well somehow allow Kelly to win it and that way her and Maryse can continue their feud.
There’s no telling what’s going to happen in terms of feuds. I’d place good money on Maryse being the new champ but I have no idea who the main face will be for the next half year. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just brought Mickie right back to RAW (killing the Smackdown feud without fanfare as they have been wont to do with Divas storylines) since handing Kelly the long-term reigns seems almost as unlikely as an actual push for Gail. Maybe this is Eve’s big chance to show what she’s got if they’re really as high on her as the reports have indicated?
I hope Melina gets well as soon as she can. Injury is awful to anyone, and a torn ACL is basically the worst of the worst. She’s a very valuable asset to WWE and it’s awful to see someone so dedicated to her fans and career get plagued with another grueling injury. I’m just hoping its not like Candice where she’s reinjured the same body part as it could take a baddd effect on her long term status.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a battle royal for the title on the 1/4 RAW episode. Taken into consideration that there are 2 knockout matches on the other channel, there is a good chance that they will give Gail Kim the title instead of Maryse, because she used to be the main Knockout. That would also explain why “all of a sudden” WWE is involving Gail Kim in backstage segments. They are probably prepping the crowd so they can get familiar with her.
This SUCKS! I was never a hard core fan of Melina until 2009 (mainly cuz I never watched Raw) but I see now that she is probably the most talented diva of them all. Melina just…has it all. I was blown away with what I’ve seen her do this past year.
Here’s my bright side. Maybe they will finally let some of the great talent they have on Raw get some shots at the title to feud with Maryse. Like Gail Kim and Eve Torres! And hopefully Jillian will get air time too.

Melanie: You are so right, the feud basically writes itself. This would help Maryse’s “psycho” turn if she has one. Imagine it, it’s down to Gail & Maryse, Gail rests on the ropes, Maryse charges at her, Gail hits a low bridge and Maryse flies out. Perfect opportunity for Maryse to go psycho. Either way, I’m just hoping that Maryse doesn’t get it, because if she does, she ain’t letting go of it.
Matt: I would bet my virginity that they wouldn’t move Mickie when she is so deep into this storyline. There is no way that is going to happen.
Melina dropping the title to Maryse anyway. All the injury did was make it happen sooner. Gail is probably Maryse’s new feud. The faces are in a big jam. Gail has the skill set, but can’t get over. Kelly can get over, but doesn’t have the skill set. I don’t think Vince/Steph have enough trust to push Eve yet. The Twins are obviously irrelevant.
I wonder when the next roster shuffle will take place, seeing that Melina is probably out closer to 7-8 months. Four SD divas are currently involved in the same storyline, while Natalya may be handcuffed to the Bret/Vince feud to be involved in the divas title. They probably need to call up someone from FCW (they certainly signed enough of them down there). I know a lot of us are begging for Serena/Mia. But when something is so logical, chances are it won’t happen, right?
What happens on TNA has no effect on Raw. Vince isn’t going to counter Knockouts with Divas. Until TNA actually gives Raw competition (which is not happening when they can’t even beat SD’s ratings), Vince doesn’t care what they do, especially with the women’s division.
The most important thing is Melina has successful surgery and a speedy recovery/rehab. Summerslam may be a realistic target date for her return.
I have a feeling Bret will somehow get involved with it, which could really get the Divas over. They could tell the commentators about Bret and what he said about Melina.
I wish during Melina’s promo, Bret’s theme comes on, but the Hart Dynasty come out, and Natalya says they’ve been traded to RAW, and that she will become the next Diva’s champion. I would so mark out for that.

- The injury WWE Divas Champion Melina suffered earlier this week is a torn ACL. She will undergo surgery soon. Melina appeared at the WWE live event the following night backstage and was on crutches. It’s not confirmed but expected that she will drop the belt to Maryse on RAW. WWE has had plans for a few weeks now to put the belt on Maryse anyway.
Melina is expected to be out of action for a few months and has already been pulled from WWE live event line-ups through the month of February.
NO! I don’t want Maryse, god please don’t let this happen. Do a JoMo and give it to Gail and then allow Maryse to win it. I do not want Maryse to have the belt.
The RAW divas was a joke anyways so if Maryse win the title it won’t even matter. I think it would be Kelly vs. Maryse for the diva title. WWE it so stupid how they can give Maryse another diva title run just because of her looks I go by wrestling skills and character second. People are saying Gail Kim yes that would be good but Gail Kim vs. Maryse again who want to see that match? The last good match RAW divas had was with Alicia vs Gail Kim and the four match with Kelly/Alicia/Beth/Gail.
I can see people turning the channel including me when the divas come out and put it on TNA.
The only reason why I was for the RAW divas because of Melina, Gail Kim, and Alicia. Now Melina is out and I know they won’t give the title to Alicia or even Gail.
An ACL tear, for a woman involved in sports, you’re looking at a good year she’ll be out for unfortunately. And look what happened to Candice after her second big injury, the WWE forgot all about her and her career ‘ended’ unfortunately. Would suck to see the same happen with Melina if WWE ultimately moves on from her like they did with Candice and even Lita a few years ago. :/
Alicia/Gail feud please. Even though we’ll get the exact opposite. :( Can’t say I was looking forward to Melina/Maryse anyways but if Kelly is next top face, I’ll take anything over Kelly being on top.

I think this is actually a good oppurtunity to make something out of the divas this week:
IDEA 1- Have Melina come out explaining her Injury then have Vince and her and then Vince saying he is going to award the title to Maryse, Maryse comes out and Melina wont give her, her title and Maryse starts playing around with her and slaps her, then Gail comes out and attacks Maryse and the Match is made for later on that night
IDEA 2- Melina comes out (again explaining her injury) then Natalya comes out saying thanks to Bret Hart she has been traded to raw and will get a title shot
IDEA 3- Divas battle Royal (give it to someone other than Maryse, (please!!!))
I’m interested to see how WWE will react with this. I dont know how much though process goes into the RAW divas but i can see Melina coming out, giving a small speech then leaving. We’re probably going to see a typical divas ”pink & black battle royal” (stupid gimmicky match) for the divas title with Maryse winning. I just wish they could bring someone back from the past that has some crowd credibility that could fued with Maryse. *Sigh* if only Candice Michelle wasn’t pregnant lol.
Actually, I’m kind of curious as to who is going to take the reigns as top face on RAW. When you think about it no-one is ready to do so. Eve is okay in the ring but not popular enough. Gail’s good but also is not popular enough. Kelly Kelly is the most reasonable since she’s popular & i guess she’s improving but we’ve already seen a Maryse/Kelly fued. Hummm, seems as though WWE has backed themselves into a corner with this one. Serves them right though. Maybe they will finally begin developing their divas for situations like this.

I really hope WWE pushes Melina’s injury as a way to get over with the fans more. Similar to how superstars like Batista had injuries, when they had came back the fans cheered more than ever for them. Melina should really be treated as the top Diva in WWE to how they treated Trish Stratus.

Well, the good news about injuries is that this forces the WWE to use someone else. When Maryse was out last year the title, on SD they started using Eve in a wrestling role. When Maryse was out without the title, Rosa started to wrestle more. Alicia, Beth, and Gail all got title shots. Now they might not always pick the right people, but there’s some hope.
Maryse just needs someone who can do their moves good enough for Maryse to be all goofy while getting her butt kicked. Wasn’t there a rumor that Eve was going to be next in line? Well, she’s good at executing her flashy moves.. Why not her.
It’s just a damn shame that not one face on that Raw side (or none of the face Divas besides Maria for that matter) have absolutely no personality.

HOPEFULLY Bret can have some backstage say in what happens with this and pushes Gail towards the title, I mean theres 3 options with Melina gone now. I would honest be entertained by a Gail/Maryse fued and at the same time it could boost up Gail’s popularity and crowd reactions. Maybe she can make the divas division on RAW (SOMEWHAT) watchable. So heres me saying … Gail Kim for next Divas Champion! Or IF they insist on having Maryse as Champ again, Maryse/Gail fued straight away! =)
I”M DYING FOR GAIL TO BE DIVAS CHAMPION,not womens champion(she already held that title) BUT DIVAS CHAMPION but I don’t think WWE creative will ever do it.Gail is a great wrestler but she can’t get over because the crowd has no connection with her,also she’s 33 years old which is extinct in diva years,and last but not least,she was from TNA,vince would never push a former TNA star.Look at christian,yes he’s the ECW champion but he’s on the C show that no one watches

Natalya (and Hart Dynasty) will be on RAW on monday. Maybe Natalya will become the new Diva Champion ;-) Ok, probably very unlikely, but you never know.

a) It’s only two hours.
b) WWE forgot about Candice after her second major injury. Sure she came back and had a chance but the instant they realized she lost her crowd reaction she was able to build up before her first injury and when they realized she hadn’t had enough training to get back into the ring and rushed her return, they just dropped her.
Unfortunately Melina will be out for a long time (about a year) and unless they find something else for Melina until the meantime, that’s alot of time for other women to impress. Plus Melina is 30 years old, going on 31 soon. She isn’t exactly the youngest diva.
If WWE will crown a new Divas Champion, I wish it will be Gail Kim. But it’s very unclear since Maryse is feuding with Melina and Natalya will be on RAW (hosted by Uncle Bret). oooh Melina! wishing you a speedy recovery!
