What’s with the trend of Divas pitching reality shows? Last year we reported that an ensemble cast is pitching a Hills-like reality show, meanwhile TNA’s Tara is looking to get into the reality circuit too — and now the latest name to add to that list is former Women’s Champion The Kat, real name Stacy Carter.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross writes:

Talked recently to Stacey Carter, former bride of Jerry Lawler better known as Stacey “The Kat” Carter back in the day in WWE who is now in the real estate business in the Ft. Myers, Florida area. The Mrs and I are planning on heading to that area when it warms up there and Stacey is lending us a hand with finding us a place to stay. She said that she has a reality TV show in the works with CMT that it has a chance of being picked up. It will center around Stacey, her former career in wrestling and her new career in real estate and will feature cameos from recognizable, veteran wrestling stars. I hope that she has a hit on her hands and more importantly that the show gets a chance.

Given that Stacy’s run in WWE was brief, I wonder how many people would actually remember her and/or watch? Of all the reality show ideas made public, the only one that strikes me as interesting and the only one I could see working is Tara’s. Her decade-long career has made her one of the most recognisable female faces in the industry and her whole transition from WWE to TNA seems like a ready-made plot.

Isn’t kinda scary how all these Divas are turning to reality TV? As well as those noted above, I can think of at least two other women who have either contemplated a show or pitched one. Hollywood celebrities like Paula Abdul tanked with their own shows — does a wrestling star really have a chance?

  1. I remember the Kat fondly for some reason. I was only just into my teenage years when she first came to the WWE. On the same night where Stephanie McMahon defined her heel persona by handing a sledgehammer for her Father to be struck with, all the boys in the locker room couldn’t stop talking about how Stacey flashed her boobs after her match. I think she got over just fine after that. A lot of people who remember that might watch what’s become of her now, even though she seems a shadow of the coquettish sex symbol she was back then. I do agree that Tara’s reality TV show would be good viewing. She’s got an awesome sense of humour and a warm heart, plus a great story to tell.

  2. they will give anyone a reality show, every year E! has a new reality show staring some idiot hardly anyone knows, so they may as well give some wrestlers reality shows

  3. I remember the Kat! I think I’ve seen one or two matches of hers when I was younger, but not very much. Don’t know if I’ll watch the show as it doesn’t sound all that good by the read. There’s already too much cheesy, pointless reality TV shows on TV enough as it is.

  4. i dont really have a comment about the kat, because i dont care lol. but @melanie, you should youtube the match HEAT: Candice Michelle (c) vs. Melina and use it as your youtube classics :D. love the site yo

  5. While I think Tara’s show would probably be the most interesting, it would most likely do the worst in terms of viewers. She’s liked among wrestling fans, but most would probably not watch it (Diva Dirt readers aside :P) and it wouldn’t really attract any other type of viewers. If she follows up on her MMA career she might be able to get some of their demographic, but the women’s MMA does less numbers than the mens so it wouldn’t be that much.
Unfortunately, ratings mean too much in TV world, which leads to countless bimbos and airhead hunks getting reality shows, while the potential of quality would be axed within a few shows.
I think Kat’s has the potential to run for at least a season (after which it would probably be axed). I know fans who abandoned wrestling early last decade still remember her thanks to her infamous flashing, and sex sells so they’d wring every bit of sexy TV out of her. Older wrestlers showing up would draw in channel hopping wrestling fans as well, meaning it has more chance for success than Tara’s.
Overall though, I’d have to say the show featuring Shelly Martinez, Rhaka Khan and whoever else would have the most chance of being made, and being a minor hit. Firstly, the girls are young and gorgeous which is what most reality show viewers want. Secondly, both ladies are known for having a bit of a temper or being hot-headed at times, and reality show viewers LOVE confrontations. Wrestling isn’t well liked among the majority of the mainstream, although I’d imagine they’d tone down the wrestling and focus on the women and modeling etc.
So out of Tara’s wrestling show, Kat’s real estate show or the divas/knockouts reality show I’d say the latter has the most chance of being made.

Also, Mark is right. HEAT: Candice Michelle (c) vs. Melina is a great match, the last good women’s match HEAT had.

  6. Because I agree that, though popular, wrestling isn’t exactly mainstream (and I hate the snide response many non-fans have to wrestling) so I don’t know about the chances for the success of a reality show featuring a female wrestler of any type/brand but I would watch it. I remember The Cat, though; I remember her “Slave” shirt and Chyna’s “Master” shirt they used to wear when they were together.

  7. I probably didn’t watch wrestling at that time, but I read her name in the long list of women’s champion. However, while people like Chyna and Tori woke up my curiosity and made me research for their matches, I never what a match with this Diva.

Probably many people won’t remember her, though. The Tara reality show, seems more interesting, but I’m not going to watch it. I dislike reality shows a lot.

  8. I remember when she showed her boobies at a PPV after the bikini contest. :)

  9. I’ve been watching alot of The Kat on youtube recently, due to Cherry being added to WWE Alumni (how can Divas like Terri, The Kat and Jackqueline not be in the Alumni and Cherry is?). The Kat is hot! her voice is annoying though lol. She had a breif connection with Chyna, and made the WWF Championship look like a joke. I’m really unsure why WWE gave her the title at such a early time in her career. She was a brilliant valent though. Her and Terri Runnels put on some great catfights, almost as good as Kelly Kelly’s and Layla’s. I must admit though, I doubt anyone would watch it – after her reign came to an end she barley had anything going for her. And once her storyline with Terri finished, so was she.
