In what you could consider a partial rematch of last week’s Superstars match, Gail Kim is again taking on Jillian, this time in a Mixed Tag Team match–Gail pairing with Primo and Jillian with Chavo Guerrero. Watch the match below:
Primo and Chavo start out the match. Primo dominates Chavo until some dirty tricks put Guerrero in control. Jillian even gets a few boots on Primo while the referee’s back is turned. Primo eventually regains control, prompting Chavo to go running to his momma Jillian, grabbing a hold of her midsection. As unorthodox as it is, this counts as a tag, and Jillian enters the ring. Before Primo tags her in (and he really doesn’t need to, I guess), Jillian charges, and he dodges, and she eats Gail’s fist.
Gail blasts into the ring, going on a roll of offense, irish-whipping Jillian into the corner, hitting a flying clothesline. She backs up and goes for a two-fer, but Jillian moves, and she ends up between the ropes and wrapped around the turnbuckle. Gail gathers herself, though, and ducks a blow by Jillian, hitting one of her own and climbing the turnbuckle. Chavo distracts her, however, and Jillian causes her to lose her footing. Gail crotches herself on the top rope, and Jillian tosses her from there to the mat. She goes for the pin, earning a 2-count.
Frustrated, Jillian goes a bit unhinged, grabbing Gail by the head and slamming the back of hit repeatedly against her knee. The hold quickly is reduced into a blatant hair pull. She eventually lets go and goes for the pin again, still getting only 2. She picks Gail up and tosses her by the hair like she’s a ragdoll, which probably isn’t far off from her actual weight–no insult intended, she’s just so tiny! Jillian then just stands on Gail’s face–hey, if it gets the job done, why not? The referee scolds her, and she relents. I like how Jillian is showing a blatant disregard for the rules. There’s not even a hint of integrity to her wrestling, and I like that kind of honesty in a heel.
Jillian slams Gail into the corner and drives a few well-placed knees into her midsection. She brings Gail to the ropes, whipping her to the other side, but Gail hangs on, attempting a kick when Jillian advances on her. Jillian catches her foot, however, and drags her hopping to the center of the ring, taking her down with a clothesline. She taunts the crowd before going for her cartwheel splash, which Gail blocks with her knees. Both Divas try to regroup, crawling to their respective corners and tagging in their teammates.
The Primo/Chavo action commences until Chavo attempts a pin, which Gail breaks up. I’m surprised to see a Diva do that, let alone a babyface Diva. It’s a little thing, but still pretty cool– it shows how dedicated she is to the match. Jillian comes charging and Gail telegraphs it, allowing her to continue her charge right out of the ring. Chavo sneaks up behind Gail and she seems intimidated by him (boo!), backing into a corner. She tries to run away (boo!), but Chavo catches her, grabbing her by the arm. This allows Gail to hit her Eat Defeat finisher (yay!), if a little off the mark, and Primo punctuates the move with a roll-up, pinning Chavo for the win.
The match, like most Mixed Tag matches, featured minimal Diva action, but Gail and Jillian seem to have decent chemistry. They still didn’t get to reach anywhere near their potential together, like last week’s slightly disappointing singles match, but I did like Jillian’s blatant cheating against Gail–perhaps showing some resentment for Gail eliminating her from the Divas Championship Tournament last week? If there’s anything that can help her escape blandness in the ring (and singing in between moves ain’t gonna do it), it could be just a nasty and bratty disregard for the rules. Cheat at every turn, use every second of that 5-count–just use your heel-ness to your full advantage, Jillian! Show us that there’s more to you than silliness.
I also liked that Gail managed to hit the finishing move, setting up for the pin. They bent the rules of the Mixed Tag match (which I think are lame–it would be much more interesting to see some Superstar/Diva in-ring interaction, if only for a few moments before one tags out) by letting Gail, in a sense, put Chavo down for the 3-count. It was creative, and makes what could have been just another Mixed Tag match a little more memorable. I still prefer to see Diva singles matches for Superstars–it allows the Divas to have longer matches and show off their full potential better than Raw’s constricted time space ever will. A Mixed Tag match every now and then doesn’t hurt, but I’d love if it would become a weekly thing for Superstars to feature a singles Divas match featuring either Raw, SmackDown, or ECW Divas, switching it up week by week. I know they’d appreciate the extra breathing room–fans too.

I loved it! Looks like WWE is really trying to get the fans behind gail, which it seems like they are. What better way to accomplish this is to add a male vs. female element…cause hey, that seems to work. Plus, this match made jillian AND chavo seem fairly strong….as jobbers.
i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE gail’s finisher! too bad it’s not used as often as i would like.
Entertaining match, Gail is getting more crowd support week by week, heres hoping that she has a decent showing on Monday with Alicia. Jillian looked on form out there and in control of what she was doing, which was a definite plus!
YES! Gail is soooo awesome in the ring! The ending was GREAT! Why can’t they do this stuff on Raw? She just made me love her even more.
And I absolutely love Jillian in the ring! She is so consistently good and she deserves a title! (for more than 30 seconds)
Gail and Jillian have great chemistry together. I hope the WWE keeps this kind of stuff up.
Wow that was the absolute best Gail kim hopefully will become our divas champion.
This just reminds me of the old days when the WWE Divas could actually USE their finishers on the men. I love it!! I’m glad Gail will FINALLY take the top babyface position that she deserves. She’s the best wrestler in the business right now. I hope she doesn’t lose to Maryse for the Diva’s Championship, although.. it’s probably likely since WWE wants to stick the title on her, but that could lead to a feud, which Gail could eventually end up winning, so.. her time will come! This match was great, and it was nice seeing Gail, a babyface, breaking up the match and then using her finisher to help win the match.
Really liked this match. I actually thought both divas got more time than they generally do get in a match like this. I liked how they mixed it up giving Gail the finish, its a great change from the standard mixed tag finish. And I really do think the crowd are beginning to get behind Gail, its about time!
This is why I fell Gail Kim is going to win the divas title are get a huge push rather then doing the whole lame commentary she is doing her finisher on dudes. Idk when is the last time we have seen that good job by both divas would rather have seen a singles match but I fell wwe really wants to keep Primo and Chavo busy so good they gave them some air Time. I fell with the way the wwe universe is getting behind Gail and with her in ring performances we may get punked by the wwe and she may just be the next divas champion or atleast I hope. Go Gail Kim!
Good work from both women! Someone needs to donate Jillian a butt, or she should take the implants out and put them down there. I can’t get over how no-butt she is. lol Are Jillian and Chavo the new J.O.B. Squad? Either way, I agree that it’s a good way to give Primo and Chavo airtime. *wishes for intergender matches to return* Tis not to be in this current “era”. *sniffle*
Nice match and a good showing by both women. I’m glad to see the crowd rallying behind Gail. Hopefully, this will translate into a Diva Title win. LOL! And I finally see the chemistry between her and Jillian that everyone was talking about. Can’t wait to see her and A. Fox tear it down. Those two always do well against one another.
Im just thinking, as the raw divas have been a little bit crap concerning the creative writers, maybe they are going to have Gail win the title, then Maryse fued with Gail for the title until the creative writers can think of something else to do with the raw divas.
really good match
both jillian and gail did some greate moves
i liked that Gail got the eat defeat on chavo for the pin
This was a really Good Match!!! Love the way how Gail got to use her finisher on Chavo. She Killed It like always. I know that everyone is thinking these is being use as a way to boost Gail as the new top face (which is not a bad thing. home girl is sick in the ring). But, I just have this feeling that there is something else going on. Maybe they are going to use this incident as a way to make it a Gail/Primo & Jillian/Chavo feud (or a Gail/Chavo which I would prefer).
Chavo wants some payback on Gail for embarrassing him in the mix-tag match. So he interferes in the Gail vs Alicial Match causing Gail to lose which starts the feud. With that said I’m almost positive that I am wrong. Raw isn’t that creative. They wouldn’t have the divas in two storylines (These one and maybe turning the rest of the tournament into a three-way feud between Alicia, Eve and Maryse) or inter-gender feud. So I’m sure everyone is right…Maybe.
Ugh. I hope Chavo doesn’t go looking for revenge, CuteBoiMd82!
In a perfect world, we’d see Gail go over Maryse to win the Divas Title. Then, the two would feud with Gail eventually coming out on top. And then maybe a Gail/Jillian feud with Gail retaining again. Then, Melina returns and stuns everyone by turning heel and attacking Gail for “stealing her spotlight”. I think Melina and Gail could have an interesting series of matches.
Even though it wasn’t a remarkable match, I liked how they used the Divas, especially by working on her characters.
I love Jillian’s taunts throughout the match. I used to like when heel Victoria did it too.
I loved the match. Gail and Jillian were both excellent and the finisher to Chavo was icing on the cake. I’ve been overjoyed with the recent Gail love. Two wins in two weeks and they put her Fatal 4 Way as the only actual divas match on the best of raw 2009 DVD =D
That fatal 4 way was one of the only actual matches worth watching on Raw last year so i’m glad it made the dvd. This matche was pretty good. I’ve always said even though Superstars is at the bottom of the shows to be it’s the best place for the women to have their matches. They get time and don’t have to rush through it. The best Raw women’s matches last year have been on Superstars in my opinion.
@Jamal: That’s what everyone is thinking “Gail will come out on top”. Idk… I just have these feeling she is going to lose (Not that I want her too). Here’s why, On WWE.com they counted down there top 10 Superstars / Divas, who are destined to win a championship this year. The only diva on that list was…Alicia (she was #2). Now I normal wouldn’t have thought twice about these, But Ezekiel Jackson (he was #10) is on that list too. Who would have thought that he would beat Kane, CM Punk, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne and Shelton Benjamin in a battle royal to win a ECW Title Shot at the RR?…
Nice little match. The crowd was alive for once. I’m just hoping this leads to some sort of push for Gail. Hell, the poll on http://www.wwe.com/superstars/divas/ pretty much sums up the fans’ support for her. Maybe WWE’ll finally get the hint.
I love how Superstars gives the Divas a chance to show what they can do, it is like WWE Heat used to be – a platform shall we say for the Divas to get some good airtime and a chance in the spotlight, which they deserve. I’d like to see this sort of thing on Raw though aswell, but at least the match was good and entertaining and I love seeing Jillian, she is a great character and wrestler especially when against someone like Gail Kim who is also so talented.
“I’m just hoping this leads to some sort of push for Gail. Hell, the poll on http://www.wwe.com/superstars/divas/ pretty much sums up the fans’ support for her.”
I doubt WWE takes those polls seriously as refreshing the results page adds another vote for your choice, and you can do it as many times as you want. Clicking the refresh button on your browser or pressing “F5″ on your keyboard 50 times means 50 extra votes for your choice, which explains why the vote total is so high.
OMG both Jillian and Gail were awesome, these 2 have AMAZING chemistry in the ring together. If Gail wins the divas title which I hope she does, Jillian needs to be a contender and get a shot at the title because these 2 NEVER fail when they lock up
i love it when Jillian wrestlers:)
So either theyre setting Gail up to be a great face to challenge for Maryse’s (soon to be) Divas title, or theyre setting her up to be a great face to WIN the title. Cool.
Jillian and Gail looked really good in the ring together, they have amazing chemistry and if WWE picks up on that we may see a future Jillian push.. if Gail eventually picks up the title.
i think they are setting up Gail as a top face just to have her lose to Maryse in the finals which sucks
but hopefully im wrong =]
i’d much rather see Maryse become a chaser for the title and have a match against Gail at WM26 or something that would be awesome
im totaly surprised with many things in the match…jillian n gail work very well together…a babyface stops a count and do her finisher on a male superstar we rarely get to see tht
i loved the match
I enjoyed the match sort of yet it didn’t show what Gail can do enough. However it did prove that Gail can mix it up in the ring with the men and showed that she didn’t back down, all top qualities in her getting cheers and increasing her popularity going forward in the Divas Title Tournament.
