This week on TNA Impact, one of the biggest news stories of 2009 came full circle as former Knockouts Champion Angelina Love made her return to the company after being released in September due to visa issues. But before we get into that, Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne of The Beautiful People took on new Knockouts Tag Team Champions Awesome Kong and Hamada. Check out the match and Angelina’s return below:
The Beautiful People make their way to the ring first, sporting their new matching ring gear. I know she’s not actually wrestling, but would it kill them to pick up a trashy velour outfit for Lacey? She looks tragically out of place next to the newly coordinated Velvet and Madison. As the trio strut their stuff on the ramp, Velvet Sky spots a familiar face in the crowd. Is that… Ashley Massaro? No, it’s her old friend Angelina Love! Reunion Time! Velvet and Madison seem ecstatic to see their former teammate, but Lacey Von Erich doesn’t share the sentiment. In fact, she makes sure to give Angelina a good dose of stink-eye while greeting her. I love how TNA played up the tension between Lacey and Angelina. If I didn’t know any better, I would think Lacey genuinely disliked Angelina, because that fake ass smile she gave her was 100%, Grade A bitchy. I may not a fan of Lacey between the ropes, but it’s the little things like this that she excels in.
Next out is the Tag Team Champions Awesome and Hamada looking surly as usual. I couldn’t help but notice that Hamada seems to still be having trouble with that ankle of hers. Props to her for working matches essentially on one foot.
The bell rings and it looks like it’ll be Hamada and Velvet kicking things off. Velvet starts the match on a sour note, striking a Karate Kid crane pose. That’s not offensive at all, right? The two lock up and Hamada forces Velvet to the ropes prompting a not-so-clean break by Hamada. Hamada unwisely turns her back to Velvet, who jumps at the opportunity to take her down by the hair. Velvet mounts Hamada and hits a few rights, followed by a splash in the corner and her trademark bulldog. She goes for the pin, but it’s not enough to keep Hamada down.
Velvet and Madison exchange quick tags, keeping control of the champion. The duo take a bit too much time executing a double Russian Legsweep and Hamada capitalizes, tripping both girls and tagging in Kong. Kong snatches both girls down to the mat by the hair, before stacking them up in the corner for a splash of her own. Finally, she grabs Madison, the official sacrificial lamb for The Beautiful People, and hits the Awesome Bomb for the three count.
As we said on last night’s Post-Impact Show, the match was just fraction of what it could have been. It seemed to drag on and it didn’t help that the majority of the match was worked by Velvet Sky, who is definitely the weaker link wrestling wise. Furthermore, where were Sarita and Taylor Wilde? If anything, they deserve first crack at Kong and Hamada. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them next week on Impact.
After the match, Angelina Love runs to the ring to check on Madison, who probably could use a neckbrace after that Awesome Bomb. Angelina advises Velvet to roll Madison over, and in the meantime attacks an unsuspecting Lacey Von Erich. By the time Velvet realizes what’s happening, it’s too late. Angelina hits a picture perfect spear and mounts Velvet, flailing like a raving lunatic. She goes to finish off Lacey with a kick, but falls down landing on Lacey’s back. Note to Angie: If you’re going to be running, jumping, fighting people or anything else athletic, maybe platform shoes with sky high heels aren’t the best choice of footwear. Just saying.
Angelina takes the action outside the ring, whipping Velvet into the barricade. She grabs a petrified Velvet and screams in her face: “Surprised to see me? Huh, Velvet? Didn’t think I’d be back, huh sweetheart?”, before pushing her head into the guardrail. Angelina retreats up the ramp, yelling about Velvet replacing her. An intense moment for sure.
Honestly speaking, the first part of Angelina’s return, the initial attack on Velvet and Lacey, left much to be desired. The attacks seemed weak and sloppy, but I think much of that can be attributed to Angelina’s sketchy footwear. The second half however was pure gold. Angelina’s had some real spunk and fire when she was taking it to Velvet and Velvet’s facial expressions and crocodile tears really hit home, making it feel like she was really surprised and frightened. Impressive showing from both Angelina and Velvet, in my honest opinion.
All in all, not the best showing for the Knockouts in the ring, but the brawl between former and current Queen Bees, Angelina and Velvet definitely made up for it. I honestly can’t wait to hear what the former has to say to her former BFFs on next week episode of Impact. What did you think of the second coming of Angelina? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

You’re so right…that was a bad choice in footwear.
Funny is how Lacey appears like she’s the leader of TBP and never wrestles (which is a good thing, for now). She’s the “let the minions do the work” type, even though she’s the true minion there.
Steven-for the post Impact show, if theirs a divas superstars match, can you include that also please:)
This weeks impact was a big ‘NEXT’ for me, their wasn’t much there besides Angelina returning. I’m looking forward to next weeks tapings:D
you’re pretty spot on regarding lacey. we all should know by now she’s not much of anything in the ring, but what she does do outside of it, is great.
good to see love back, of course. pretty disappointed with bits of it. mainly the lack of some form of follow up backstage segment. also, it was a bit odd seeing an “ex-employee” jump the guard rails with no sign of security in tow, as well as retreating up the ramp, ha. maybe if she wasn’t in the crowd to begin with it would’ve been more wow?
hopefully this isn’t a face turn for angelina, but rather a holding pattern of sorts until she regains control over the beautiful people. perhaps pushing madison out so she can compete in the singles division as a face and lacey as a heel valet while training on the side? as much as i think the newer beautiful people have better chemistry and overall seem closer knit, i do miss the original version – brown paper bags and all. ;)
i think they’re filming a whole months of spoilers next week due to the uk tour, i can’t wait to see what happens!
@RKOyou: I can’t include Superstars matches on the Post-Impact Show for two reasons: First of all, the Post-Impact Show is meant to be specifically for the Knockouts. If the Raw Divas appear on Superstars, they may be mentioned on The Post-Raw Show, but no promises. Secondly, I don’t get WGN America =P.
Has Ms Love always been that skinny?
I believe the first part of the attack was a bit off due to her foot wear, did you see those heels!
tommy, she was definitely less toned when she first debuted for tna, it’s hard to tell if she’s skinnier since her last appearance, though. considering her tattoos, i’d hazard a guess at her having an addictive personality of sorts, it wouldn’t surprise me if she works out more twice every single day. she’s thin, but toned, which, as unhealthy as it looks, is better than that pure emaciated with bones poking through skin look.
Angelina owns all!
I wanted to cry when she got fired. So her return meant a lot to me :)
Those shoes look like Spice Girls shoes, that brownish-red at the end of her hair got to go, and those clothes look like Maria designed them.
But hey, she’s the best, there’s no compatition. :)
TNA actually invested enough time for angelina loves comeback and a really good potential matches between the TBP and former queen Bee.
that spear is indeed picture perfect. IF lacey von erich knows how to wrestler properly she’ll have a really good potential match to angelina love.
lol agree about the choose thingy :D
and i dont get it i thought she was goin to turn face but i belive TBP look more face to me now!!
Why is Angelina so skinny now?
But the bitch is back! I love her so much. TNA have Angelina and Kristal to bad chicks on the mic.
Angie’s return was sloppy at first *Glares at footwear*,but the second half where she manhandled Velvet was pure gold, even though Velvet could’ve sold the attack better.
I hate to see angelina and velvets fighting….
A.Love has it all and last night proved it: she’s got the look, the moves, the mic skills, and acting chops – this is why she is my favorite. Love the shoes, all though they are not meant for wrestling in. Loved that spear, and the crowd’s reaction was great.
As far as Angelina’s being skinny, she has always been that size. Y’all have to remember that Angelina has a degree in sports administration and worked as a personal trainer. She’s also got a background in fitness modeling, so her body is pretty much pure toned muscle. The corset top also makes her abs look smaller because of the cut.
Match-wise – this match wasn’t anything to write home about until Angelina’s attack in the end. It was just an excuse to set up an A.Love/TBP feud. Steven mentioned Lacey’s fake smile – but check out that handshake! I’m surprised she didn’t wipe her hand on her shorts. I don’t think Angelina was saying “you think you can replace me” as the TBP leader, so much as you think you can continue TBP w/out me. Anywho, kudos for what I hope is an awesome feud.
Angelina Love hasn’t changed at all, she’s always been that fit. The top she wore gave off that illusion. The things hanging on the sides made her huge rack and large butt look even bigger. Not that I’m complaining! :)
Awesome job on the redux Steven and love the note to Angelina about the footwear xD I liked her full attack I guess because it felt real. Like it didn’t look picture perfect and crisp as if she prepared it earlier on, but kinda sloppy as if she legit just jumped the barricade and wanted to destroy all three of them. The match wasn’t the main concern, but moreso the aftermath and I enjoyed it a lot .
First of all … YAAAY to the new impact redux! Great work again Diva-Dirt. Second I kinda miss the trashy lingerie showing from the Beautiful People, their new outfits are … different. I don’t really think they suit the “wrestling attire” they excell at looking skimpy and trashy and should just stick to what they do best slut it up girls … slut it up. As for Angelina … tone it down goose TONE IT DOWN!
did anyone notice that Dixie Carter was sitting pretty much right behind Angelina Love in the audience?
you can see her when Velvet and Madison are giving A. Love a hug
i agree with the people saying she shouldnt of wore those shoes.. but she couldnt exactly turn up in wrestling boots could she? how obvious would that look she was going to run in and attack them ha:P
I think Angelina was dressed to kill, dont think she actually realised how hard it could be fighting in those heels!
WOW!
Lucky she didnt break her ankle
Macho Madness i dont think that was Dixie… Isnt Dixi skinnier than that?
I wonder if that smile by LVE was real or simulated; either way it was “perfect”. I have no complaint for Angelina’s return except it was like, “oh, who’s that in the crowd?” but in a way I think it works. Who cares if she fell. It was pretty good. I’ve not watched much of Angelina in the past so I guess now I’ll get to see what all the fuss is about. And I’ll review some of her old matches to see for myself.
