In a minor spoiler for this week’s SmackDown, FCW’s Mia Mancini aka Serena Deeb will be making her ‘debut’ and well, what she gets up to will leave me and many other women clutching their hair for dear life.

Check out the picture of Serena bald after her antics to your left, courtesy of The Hurricane’s Twitter.

Thank God she has a beautiful face! I don’t know about you, but even in a camera phone picture she’s working that bald look.

:/ poor Serena, at least she doesn’t mind, why is it wrestling writers love to shave diva’s heads

She is still completely gorgeous! Work it, girl!

I’m kinda surprised a woman with a bald head is still shocking/surprising by now. Guess WWE knows how to pull those sexuality strings. This is really interesting to me, actually, that is a standby for wrestling promotions. It’s actually sexist in that they place so much importance on hair to define the beauty of a woman that losing it is a big deal. No offense to anyone; I’m just curious about it/expressing my opinion. :) Seems odd to me in 2010.

serena’s actually gone down a rank or two, for me. i can’t get over the way she’s constantly changing herself and adhering to wwe’s “rules” in the hopes of becoming a diva. her desperation for the big time just doesn’t sit right with me.

i don’t actually see her joining the divas on smackdown, especially as she’d be an instant heel from aligning with cm punk. beth’s behaving less tweener/face of late, and they need another face, not another bad girl. hopefully there is a pay off for her, though.

Thank god she has pretty face otherwise this really wouldn’t have been a good idea still prefer Serena with hair.

Omg, I hate when they do this…it reminds me so much of my cancerous uncle. Really, I just don’t like it.

Fortunately she is pretty or she could become a female Kane or whatever.

I agree with Kalendria on the topic of how bad Serena wants to be in the “big time”.Just sad…

    On her ‘haircut’:

    Ugh,Serena,sweetie,………..no,just…….no…

Last thing I’ll say on this. My own feelings aside (in my personal experience it’s never been a deal at all, let alone a big one), I just don’t understand how, with all the past cries of sexism, people’s negative reaction to a woman shaving/getting her hair shaved off is not sexism (“attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles”)? It’s strange to me… If WWE started with a storyline where she was got the piggy-James treatment because she’s bald then I’m somebody somewhere would start to say it.

I’m not trying to educate or criticize people’s opinions but I am actually genuinely confused by this reaction (while at the same time I ask myself why I should be). I guess it’s not important.

Goes back all the way to the mid-80s during the legendary hair-vs-hair match of Dump Matsumoto vs Chigusa Nagayo (one of the Crush Gals), that was a huge deal back then (crush gals were more populair than hulk hogan in Japan). Something that has been copied by lots of wrestling promotions since then.

But this one is kinda different, usually they dont want to loose their hair but they have to, after loosing a match. But in this case she happily removes her hair so she can be with her savior CM Punk, so thats kinda a unique twist to it ;-)

My reasons are stupid. I don’t like when people shave their head (men and women) because my family has a past with cancer and it just makes me remind of sick people and hospitals and all this things that makes me sad.

Its not because she’s a girl…is just because I dont like baldness. In fact I used to have really short hair (like Pink on family portrait), so I don’t think someone is more or less pretty because of the lenght of their hair.

So I think people are saying these things, not because bald girls aren’t feminine, but because of their esthetic point of view.

OMG! she has 100% earned my respect for doing something like this.

I think it rocks when a woman shaves her head, but I find it frustrating that people make a big issue out of it. It’s 2010 and sexual politics seem pretty backwards to me. At this point in time we shouldn’t be gasping at a woman with a shaved head. Both her and Roxxi can really pull the look off.

  • Melanie
    January 20, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Garouix and Lady Sheamus, I think perhaps you may be misinterpreting some of the opinions though I can only speak for myself. I have nothing against bald women and it’s certainly got nothing to do with sexism in my book or sexual politics. I think for many women, it’s more of a personal, emotional response. Seeing Serena have her head shaved for me will be quite traumatic because I love my hair and I believe it’s part of my identity. It’s a personal thing and I don’t think Garouix, you can tell people what they should and shouldn’t feel.

It’s the act of seeing her head shaved that creeps people out–it’s just something subconscious, I guess. Seeing a bald woman is perfectly fine, more power to her. It’s not about a woman being bald or saying that all women should have long, flowing hair. It’s just the visceral reaction to seeing someone lose a full head of hair right before your eyes. I know it’s just something I get skeeved out about, like seeing Natalie Portman get her head shaved in “V for Vendetta”–it’s a similar reaction, even though it clearly wasn’t against Serena’s will.

I am totally shocked by Serena’s decision to let her head be shaved, but this is the perfect oppurtunity for her. She’s teaming with a top heel within a storyline that has the ability to be the best thing in 2010. Her head shaving is a rebirth for her in real life too; would she rather be stuck in development for another year or more or take a risk to hit the big time? If she always did what she’s always done, she’d of been given what she’s always got. Just liher her nose job stuff, she’s took a risk and it’s hopefully paid off. 100% congrats to Serena definitely.

Good for Serena! She must have a lot of respect for WWE to allow this to happen, shows that she is commited to her job!

Her hair will grow quick though and she can get extensiions once its a little longer.

Thomas-lol your not fooling anyone with that comment

thats not a pretty sight, hope her hair grows fast. I’m afraid that punk will keep shaving serenas head weekly, i hope that doesn’t happen

WHY DOESN’T PUNK SHAVE HIS HEAD, he’s shaved everyones except his

  • Zephyr5326
    January 20, 2010 at 6:05 pm

@ RKOyou: Punk is the leader and isn’t in need of a rebirth like the people he is “healing” which is why he’s not bald. Plus his long hair and beard make him look like Jesus a.k.a a Saviour.

Aww, I like Serena with hair. =( I can honestly say I never saw this coming! xD But with hair or not, Serena is still a beautiful, BEUTIFUL woman. I hope she sticks around, she seems like a barrel full of lolz on how her character was portrayed. xD

@Kaledrina Desperate? No. Serena is showing such dedication and passion for wrestling. Her dream is to be in the WWE, and if this is what it takes, so be it. Seriously, it’s not a big deal. She’s talented, isn’t that what matters most? And gorgeous as well, with or without hair. Of course she’s going to change her look to WWE’s wants. You need to be willing to change when you want to work for the top wrestling promotion in the world (Even though it’s a joke of a company and there are plenty better companies). WWE is going to want a femalemto shave her head, so they’d just find someone else if Serena didn’t take the stand. She’s not being desperate at all, she’s being a professional.

I’ve met Serena several times and of all the wrestlers I’ve met, she’s easily one of the nicest. Good luck, Serena!

You dont understand the storyline. CM Punk is ‘straight edge’, he is better than everyone, he himself doesn’t need to be saved. Only the weak people who are in need of saving are shaved bald. That’s the whole idea about this storyline.

I love it! I’m a big fan of hers and Serena got to do what it takes to make it in this business. You people who blog up here got to realize that. Its all for entertainment of the fans. The shock value is a real attention getter!

@Thomas, you know, when I saw this picture here and then the one from the post about her going up to the main roster I thought the same thing. I also see that whole savior/cultish thing going a ways for Punk.

Responding to the storyline itself, @RKOyou – If it’s in the storyline then WWE not only sanctioned it but perhaps ordered it. They already know its WWE, and it’s WWE who made the call. It’s not like she did it on her own. It’d be different if she just showed up with it, but it was an actual part of a storyline. If WWE created it then THEY are the ones who want the look whether she’s a Diva or not. Her being in a stable with the top heel on Smackdown seems worth it to me.

WOW, what made her go along with that? I could never do that to my own hair.
