In the past few years many people have [wrongly] assumed that the lackluster women’s division in WWE is due to the Divas themselves. With no Trish Stratus or Lita leading the pack, the division has admittedly waned but I would argue, it’s not because of the women in it. It’s because of the writing. In a post-Trish era, it all went downhill. Not to toot her horn too much, but it’s true — Trish was seemingly the only Diva that WWE had full confidence in carrying a real storyline, developing it for several months, engaging the viewer and delivering that great blow-off match that we all anticipate. When she left, the effort stopped.
It’s not that any one of the girls can’t do the same, they just haven’t been given the opportunity to. Storylines that once spanned months now span weeks, matches on Raw — once home of the coveted Women’s Championship — are now usually half as long and half as exciting. The audience itself, paying customers, have stopped lapping up the Divas action and instead feel something apathy and indifference. You may have your own arguments as to why Diva A or Diva B aren’t over but my argument is this: the audience, you know the ones that pay for the honour, don’t care because WWE has given them little reason to care over the years. Any one of those girls could be over if WWE gave them the attention to detail in character that they gave Trish, the same effort in storylining that they gave Trish and had a little confidence in the girls to do their own thing, like they did Trish.
While many have switched over to TNA or perhaps SHIMMER, it’s been a long road but hope isn’t lost. WWE does know how to do women’s wrestling because they’ve done it before and it seems, they may be looking to do it again. Last week’s segment on Friday Night SmackDown was easily the best thing the Divas have done in quite some time — the closest thing to the original ‘golden era’ of Divas that is so treasured.
This segment to me is the biggest milestone for the Divas division in years. It showed that the “smart, powerful and sexy” tagline isn’t just a load of BS. It showed a confidence in the Divas that has been less than visible of the years. And it showed that the girls can tell great stories too.
So what made it work? First of all, the elaborate setup of a segment like this hasn’t been seen in the women’s division perhaps since the ‘Ashley-in-a-box’ incident. The use of the red carpet, props and platter of food instantly meant that some effort had been put into this angle. Now it may not mean a lot on the surface, but for the Divas who are usually just thrown out there in a match to fill a proverbial quota, it’s significant when WWE pulls out the stops. Secondly, there’s the issue of timing — something it seems that both of the main companies get wrong when it comes to their women. We always complain that there’s never enough time but this segment could honestly have filled three Raw Divas matches. Ten minutes, perhaps more, is like the glass ceiling for Divas and to be able to smash that ceiling makes me want to fist pump Jersey Shore style quite frankly.
But the main factor in what made this successful is the women themselves. Each and every one. If this were an awards category, all five ladies — Beth Phoenix, Layla, Maria, Michelle McCool and Mickie James — would be nominees. Each Diva brought their A-game and each Diva it seems realised the potential importance of this segment in selling this feud. Layla and Michelle McCool over the past few weeks have upped their game in the acting department with McCool showing more personality and inflection in her voice than ever before. She may have her naysayers nonetheless, but to them I say: YouTube those early promos and compare. I challenge you not to notice a difference. As mentioned a few weeks ago, Layla has injected a soulfulness into this storyline that makes me wonder if it would have succeeded without her. She’s been one that has laid down and taken beatings from Beth and Mickie so convincingly while playing remaining an interesting character that has forced McCool’s to develop. Beth Phoenix’s conflicted tweener act has moved her away from being the stoic heel that was proving tiresome and added a new dimension to her character, making her that much more relatable.
Mickie has always been a fan favourite but she isn’t just relying on her popularity — James’ performance as the tortured victim has made fans want to root for her but it’s the juxtaposition of her performance last week that sealed the deal. Beginning the night with a rousing ‘everywoman’ speech and ending it humiliated, ashamed and as though she had let the fans down had a Buffy-esque warmth to it. To go off on a little tangent here, Joss Whedon [creator of 'Buffy'] is perhaps the best writer for a female character on television and the way he wrote Buffy to be that strength for all women and as though she was fighting for not only herself, but the world — there was a quality in Mickie’s performance on SmackDown. Mickie’s mini-rise and then fall was what was needed to get the fans truly on board. Having her be humiliated for weeks on end and then finally fight back courageously only to be knocked back down again is a nice swerve from the predictable, fall-to-rise formula. Having that ‘faux rise’ on SmackDown with her working up the confidence to stand up to her aggressors and still be knocked back down, is perhaps a little more realistic. And the scene at the end of the segment, a long shot of Mickie in tears, so humiliated is enough to warm the coldest of hearts.
And finally, there’s Maria. Sweet Maria. Longtime readers of this site will know that we have always had something of a tit-tat relationship with the Diva of the Year — she’s a sweet person and we love in her real life but on WWE television, there has always been an unease about her character and an unease as a wrestler that has left us unconvinced. Having played the ‘ditzy, unlucky in love’ girl for so long, there has never been anything truly substantial about the Maria character — until now. Maria’s mic work on SmackDown was passionate, gritty and raw. The emotions that she exuded on the microphone could be felt by the viewer and her words felt real. She sold the emotion of her words as if they weren’t just lines she had learned, but as if they were her own. Where has this side of Maria been for so long? I don’t know but I love it and want to see more of it.
What we learned through this segment is that when Divas are given opportunities, they can deliver. When they are invested in with good writing, good timing and made to feel significant to the programme, the Divas can deliver. All of these girls have talents beyond what we have seen, it’s through poor booking that we don’t realise their potential. Seeing what these girls can do should give fans hope that there is talent in the women’s division and it’s always been there, it’s just been untapped. The girls you think you can write off i.e. Maria, can surprise you and the girls you think you know i.e. Mickie, can peel back a new layer.
I can only hope that this segment is as well received by management as it has been by fans and critics. Hopefully this will make WWE realise that the Divas can tell stories, that their angles can make the fans care, and that they can put on excellent performances too — just like the men.
Hopefully, this will set a new precedent for the women’s division. Start as you mean to go on. Perhaps the division can get back some of the prestige and respect it once had.

one thing thats always bugged me….i gotta say that some of the women in this era are more talented than the women of the Trish era, but they have been restricted and have fluffy, pretty girl characters. they aren’t allowed to have fully developed characters and high-risk moves….hopefully they will release the binds they have on the pretty girl thing.
Awesome…awesome…AWESOME post, Melanie. I agree with those statements 100%. Smackdown has the potential; this past week proved it. I hoped WWE management paid VERY close attention to how the fans reacted to the segment.
As much as I hate to say it…while Smackdown has potential, I think the Raw brand is a lost cause. :(
Completely agree!! And I also feel the same way as Halestorm17 that some of todays divas are more talented then some of the old divas. they were just never given the chance
Going off on a tangent a little speaking of great talent…. Rock on Melanie that post was incredible you definitely have a talent for writing :D x
Another outstanding article Melanie, major kudos are in order. I’ve always been a firm supporter and believer in Women’s wrestling for many years and you’ve nailed it! just about anyone can perform well past expectations if given the proper chance. Many points you address remind me of the old stale Hollywood argument that white audiences didn’t want to and weren’t interested in black stories. This being a lame reason for not giving promising African American talent a grand stage on which to shine, Of course with the monumental success of Tyler Perry and others before him this theory has been blown to bits, as Hollywood slowly has come to realize that African American stories, while having a particular face and voice are at their core human stories that all can relate to. As a young African American man, i’m pleased to see that Hollywood is finally getting it and i’m sure the same awakening will soon take hold in professional wrestling as it pertains to women and the powerful stories they can tell with their bodies, voices and ring work
Oooh, tell em’ gurl! That post was awesome!!!
I totally agree with every point made.
yes,i agree that it´s has been for a long time that the Divas didn´t have a promo of this magnitude and all of them have played their roles pretty well.
but…..and there´s always the but……the story exagerated in some parts and the role that Beth is being putted in,that back and forth thing, that tweener go to face-return to heel, that indecision limbo she has been for the last weeks is starting to stale her a bit.
to be honest i dont think one segment is going to change the womens division. it needs to be a longer consistant thing
If only WWE management could read what you just established to us all. That was truly a eye-opening and completely truthful as truthful as can be article. Nice work Melanie, and I agree with you and hopefully all those diva fans out there when I say …
“This is how the divad division SHOULD be!” =)
This article pretty much reminded me why I check this site more than 20 times a day.
this is an incredibly detailed and well thought out piece of writing. go melanie!!! i totally agree with you, that segment proved what the divas can be and should be.
kirstygraham did you read it all? melanie didnt say the one segment is gonna change the division she said this should be used as a stepping stone example for what they should do going forward leading to the change of the division.
These words were full of truthfulness. I wouldn’t know how to write it down as great as you did. Let’s hope WWE reads these lines and realize that the divas are able to tell stories.
And I have to agree with C-Ray. Raw definetly is a lost cause. Matches with a length of 2 minutes or less, Barbie dolls winning over trained and talented divas like Jillian & Katie, two of the most underrated divas in the WWE. No storylines, just boring no. 1 contender matches and some words like “I’m the next divas champion!” we’ve heard from Maryse. I think one of the causes is this hole guest host crap. Too much segments – segments nobody needs like this WWE’s got talent (not sure about the name) with Sharon & Ozzy. This time should’ve been filled with in-ring action. If this whole thing ends maybe we’ll see some more action and more of the raw divas.
I agree with you too Mel. Its not the Divas themselfs, its the bloody writers and Vince. As i said to my friend (who wrote up the sky sports top 10 divas – oh by the way if u go to skysports.com you will get the proper version my friend wrote up, but its still crap).
The Early Noughties was the best for the WWF/E Divas. Each Diva was diffrent and brought there own style to the ring. You had them mixing it up with the guys, doing loads of promo with Divas and guys, big build up were made for Diva PPV matchs and you even got a promo video before hand.
Now, each diva is basically the same, they have basically the same personalty, they made each bring somthing diffrent to the ring, but not by much. You hardly see them with the guys( unless its a mix tag match, which makes no sennce, they just stick to single rivals together so they can do other things with the show). You see them doing promos once in a blue moon, they allways announce a diva PPV match a week before the actual PPV, there is basically no build up, and when was the last time u saw a promo video before a diva’s match (when trish left was the last time).
So right now the diva divison does suck BIG TIME. As Rhawk said only if the WWE read what you have just written Mel, then maybe , just maybe we might get our Divison back. But then again Hell would have to frezze over, and Pigs fly before that would happen.
I am starting to like where this is going, at first i wasnt a huge fan of the feud, and TBH i didnt find this segment AMAZING, dont get me wrong, itis far better than what we have seen, but i like where this is going to, and what could be next, because now they have so many different angles for this feud.
I reckon next week on Smackdown have:
Maria vs. Layla w/ Michelle McCool
Michelle gets involved and Mickie comes down and starts beating the crap out of Michelle, and then Maria takes out Layla.
Beth Phoenix comes down and takes out Maria and Helps Michelle. Beth Holds Mickie and Michelle gets ready to hit her with the title belt. But Mickie Ducks and Hits Michelle and then Mickie hits the DDT on Michelle.
I dont know, because i am not sure if we are going to get beth turning on Michelle or Michelle turning on Beth. But if they go with this next week (after the royal rumble), Michelle can apologise to beth and beth says its ok and then Beths attacks Michelle instead of Mickie
Excellent article, loved reading it! Further exemplifies the importance of that segment on Smackdown and how it hopefully is the start of more great things to come for the Divas. For too long the Divas have been neglected by the writers, as if they think that we don’t need or want to see them in any storylines. Just as “featured extras”. I definitely want to see much more segments and angles of that caliber for the Divas.
Great article and I believe everyone touched on all I could have added. I do hope now that WWE continues this awesome momentum that they have going and continue to suprise, intrigue and entertain us with this storyline, and I hope it rubs off on RAW too. :)
Great write-up. What’s amazing is that the Drafts over time have changed the Diva landscape. During the Trish/Lita days when the brand extension started, it was RAW which was home to the more talented women and better matches, whereas SmackDown was more about bikini contests. Now the tables have turned so much. Even though there is now two women’s titles, the traditional Women’s Championship is still more likely to give rise to much better matches.
This current storyline could really be a comeback period for the women’s division, provided they keep up with the strong booking and still book well long after the storyline has ended.
The talent level on SD is really good now – Mickie, Beth and Michelle as regulars in the division; Natalya should be getting more involved in the division eventually in the year; and with Serena just debuting things are looking up, provided they use her in matches. All they might need now is another supporting face. Eve should stayed on SD to support Mickie and is improving in the ring, or Gail could be moved, assuming she doesn’t win the Diva’s title.
Oh and it’s weird that with the improvments on SD (RAW is still lame because of the bookers showing no interest in the Divas), the once strong TNA Knockouts may (note: may) be falling due to Hogan and Bischoff.
First of all, awesome article. I can say I agree with you.
Now, I think the ‘Trish Era’ started when she started to improve. At first, just like many other girls, she was wrestling in tongues. But then, she started to invent new moves, she had the charisma and they knew they could have faith in her. And she became the star we know. I feel the situation is similar nowdays (see Melina, Michelle). The keyword is similar. Many of our lovely current divas have more potential than many of the ‘old-school’ girls, but I feel that when they make only one mistake, Vince is giving up on them (which is not fair, but he does the same with the boys, so I guess Vinnie is Vinnie).
Quite frankly, I doubt one segment can change the status quo. Everyone’s so happy about what happened last week and this is never good. When fans are so excited about something, there’s usually a disappointment around the corner… I truly hope I’m wrong.
I agree wholeheartdly in everything Melanie but one little great segment does not mean that WWE has a great woman’s division. We need to see both brands step up their game not just SD.
I think you are overexxgaerrating a bit SD has not had any really great matches since the draft but better build up.
SD now has become more diva friendly i think because it makes more sense to put divas on a taped show moreso than a live show because of the star power on RAW that it gives diva better time on SD.
I am not at all happy on RAW losing their focus on how to handle their divas so far but i think they can rise up because RAW is the better place for divas to become stars.
No everyone watches SD but people associate WWE with RAW and i would to be their best girls on the brand moreso than the B-brand SD
great one mel u said it all
i belive in wwe more than any wrestling comapny and it always bothered me how they use the divas cause im sure wwe wouldnt hire “any” one they all got great talents over there and they just need to shine
im so happy with this storyline as well and wish its just the start of a new golden era
very good and very true article……it sems that all the writer are very chauvinistic…..and they don’t know how to write women charaters.
I believe so its been getting really good over there.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS POST! I 100% agree but I really truley feel that in a couple of years time Michelle could be new face of the womens division. She has all the makings of the top dog and feels alot more fresh and new than someone like Mickie who seems to have had her time in the sun. I haven’t always been the biggest Michelle fan but I think once she gets her acting down to a T she will really be the full package. I loved this segment and hope that SD contiues on this path.
This is 100 % True. This past segement on SD last week didnt show that Mickie,Michelle,Maria,Layla & Beth can act , it showed that WWE if they wanted to can take time and produce a good storyline with the divas. This proves that all these Divas of this Era can put on a good show can get the crowd ralled up. If given the right about of time they can.
Maria who we thought was useless showed more personality on SD then she has ever did in her entire wwe carrer why ?. B cuz she was given the right time and probably doing something she felt comfortable with.
Wonderful story Melanie. This segment deserves its own coverage and you put everything so elequently. Somewhere down the line, would it be possible for you to ask some of the participants about this night? I’d like to know if they felt they really were doing something so grand.
Couldn’t agree more. My own hope is that this week’s Smackdown is just as well thought out in comparison, and we don’t just go back to the way it was.
I’ve got to say Smackdown has stepped up with their divas and hopefully continue to do so, because everyone loves to say how TNA knockouts are ‘all’ such great wrestlers and are ‘always’ better than wwe, however many times i have seen Smackdown divas put on a better match that TNA does, but before wwe take the divas seriously maybe the fans should do so too.
Last week the divas segment was no doubt an amazing one, even if im not a fan of this ‘piggy james’ thing, it was a great segment and the fans we TOTALLY behind it, there was no doubt some great cheers/boos/chants etc.
Great article, but am I the only one that feels Beth really wasn’t needed for the segment? Its like they just tossed her in because they didn’t want to leave her out.
There was really no point for her showing IMHO. We already know Beth and Mickie aren’t the best of friends, so seeing Beth come out when Lay-Cool already had the situation under control just to also beat on Mickie and leave didn’t help her character much.
I was shocked to read the statement that “it’s true- Trish was seemingly the only Diva that WWE had full confidence in carrying a real storyline, developing it for several months, and delivering that great match.” Lita was selected for a forced marriage for the better part of a year. Lita was selected for a pregnancy lasting three months. Both the pregnancy and the forced marriage were related to the build up for a women’s match in the main event of Raw. Out of that match Lita, for the second time, launched a Women’s Championship from a women’s match in the main event of Raw. WWE.com described the match as “one of the most brutal women’s matches of all time,a match that clearly stole the show.” The issue 15 Years of Raw called the match one of the 15 Greatest Title Changes in Raw History, the only women’s match included in the 15. Remember, it was Lita’s forced marriage; it was Lita’s pregnancy; and it was Lita who launched a Women’s Championship from the match. WWE.com added “Although it was Chris Jericho’s night as general manager of Raw, Monday night belonged to Lita. As a second illustration, one of the greatest storylines of 2001 was turning Stone Cold Steve Austin, the hero of the fans, heel. No man could pull it off. So Creative turned to Lita as the best woman to pull off the storyline. In an intergender match in the main event of Raw, with the ring containing Stephanie, who was defeated by Lita in the more formal part of the match with a Twist of Fate and a moonsault, the Hardy Boyz, and Triple H, who delivered Lita to Stone Cold by the hair of her head for the final blow of the particularly nasty beating. Lita, the Diva of the Year for 2001, had indeed turned Stone Cold, the Top Man for 2001, heel as the crowd went nuts, chucking all kinds of trash at Stone Cold. As for “carrying a real storyline,” they did not get any more real or any bigger than this one. In the words of Raw Magazine, Stone Cold Steve Austin sent “a message to the world about just how sadistic he could be” as he “struck a helpless Lita repeatedly with a steel chair.”

Harry, I’m aware of Lita’s contributions but I don’t think WWE has held Lita in quite as high regard as Trish and I was making a point about WWE’s perspective. It seems you are more trying to convince yourself than me.
Yes! Ive been feeling this way since Michelle turned heel. She had some great matches with Melina, too bad a real story wasnt built between them. McCool vs Micke really should go on to Wrestlemania. Maybe WWE will have a divas match at mania thats respectful to the women of wrestling
Awesome article !
Michelle is one of the best, but i hope she will recover from her injury soon, can’t wait to see her fight again ! :D
This is not to be negative, but I think of them giving “respect” only in terms of respecting them enough to give them a significant portion of time and actual storylines/promos, but the subject matter (not to rehash) is where the “respect” ends in my mind. For goodness sake, must every woman be obsessed with THAT? Now, don’t get me wrong, I understand that it’s the go-to subject in order to push buttons with female (and male) viewers, but to me it shows a lack of creativity. I find it bland, despite the dramatic way in which it is portrayed. [Yet I know at the same time that in this PG era some storyline ideas can't be used.] There’s got to be some other topic than just weight, beauty, and men! Something just isn’t clicking for me. I think there are things that are good (because I feel Mickie will win through) but some things I just can’t get with. BUT the overall point for me is that they’re giving so much development to the women of SMACKDOWN. So that’s a definite +.
And while I’m at it, what’s the point of having Beth win so easily in all those squash matches only to lose at times to women she’s so obviously more powerful than? [It's a rhetorical question, for I know why.] She’s strong enough to at least go against cruiser-weight men. It’s great she’s involved in a storyline and they want her to get the exposure, but she is indeed superfluous to this Mickie/Michelle/Layla feud. My opinion. Oh, and I can’t remember a SMACKDOWN match that was better to me than a TNA match, but that’s just what I think.
@Harry – agreed! And even though it’s no surprise that she would get a lot of (too much) exposure, Stephanie McMahon had a lot of storylines too, even if she technically wasn’t a wrestler. (I loved to hate that woman, back when.)
Amazing article, very well written and a good read.
i agree with what Lady Sheamus wrote, particulary on Beth.Beth iwas and is not very much needed in this story,at least in Laycool´s side.she would be more needed in Mickie´s side to even the odds because seeing Maria as Mickie´s partner is a little unrealistic.
Oh, and I forgot to say I like this article!
I agree with Lady Sheamus. The angle, is stupid, However it was well developed. By now, must readers probably now, that I don’t like the storyline itself. I still think its degrading not only to Mickie, but to all women, who are being portrayed as bitches who only know how to make fun of other peoples looks (and no, I’m not calling Layla and Michelle bitches, I’m just calling that to their characters). I mean…its childish, and since we’re talking about Mickie and not an obese girl, we gives people a very twisted form of what is the norm of being beautiful.
However, despite the fact I despise this kinds of examples, I’m proud of Smackdown for giving the girls all this TV time instead of random feuds and matches. Like I said before, this helped ALL of them to be better performers, especially in the charisma section, which is something most Divas from the other shows, lack. The real problem is that Smackdown has the top performers. SD girls are better wrestlers (Michelle, Mickie, Beth and Natalya), and they aparently have two girls who despite not being the best athletes, especially Maria, they are actually gold on the mic. Look at Layla! She’s so funny.
Raw and ECW should look up to SD, but SD has to continue improving. Put Maria and Layla in more training. Continue to give them time on TV.
Raw…stop focusing in Maryse. Give the other girls more TV time. Improve all of them. Even the Bellas. I mean, they are paid for something, right? Since they serve only as eye candy to the hosts, at least put them in a harder training regime. All of them can improve.
I can understand the excitement regarding the women on Smackdown right now. We’ve waited so long for an actual storyline in the Women’s Division, as opposed to just a series of generic feuds for the title and so, it’s understandable that there would be a sense of enthusiasm about the last few weeks.
That said, I do think the original post is maybe over-egging the pudding a little (food pun not intended!). I don’t deny that, potentially at least, the current events on Smackdown have the makings of a very memorable feud. But, at the same time, we’ve been starved (again with the food analogies!) of this kind of writing for so long, right now there’s gonna be a temptation to proclaim anything that’s more than what we’re used to as being ‘the saviour of the division’. Hey, if you’ve been lost in the desert for days, a puddle of stagnant, muddy water is gonna look like a bottle of ice cold Perrier.
So I’m sitting on the fence for now. I still need to see how this plays out before I can decide if it’s been a triumph or a tragedy. The backbone of the storyline itself is already a controversial one and, to be honest, I’m gonna judge a LOT of this story by the outcome. It doesn’t have to be about Mickie winning, but it certainly should be about her proving that any issues about her size just ain’t issues. And I still ain’t completely comfortable with Mickie having to play the ‘victim’ in such a gender stereotypical way. Yeah, a face being beaten, humiliated and humbled will happen, of course. But having her reacting by being reduced to tears (twice now) seems ike overkill to me. The guys don’t have to do it, so why does Mickie? The crowd are behind her anyway, so it’s hardly a neccessity in terms of the storyline.
And then there’s Beth. Up until last week, I’ve been very impressed with the way her character has been portrayed, her will she/won’t she turn seemed to be progressing very naturally, rather than the usual “Right, you’ve said something I don’t like so now I’m on Mickie’s side” instaturn that we often get. But then, last week, that conflict was conspicious by it’s absence. The hopeful part of me wants to think it’s the writers still making us question Beth’s agenda and we’re in for another twist in the tale this week. But the cynical part of me thinks they’ve just dropped the ball and decided to simply leave Beth as a heel and forget the whole thing.
So, yeah. On the fence. It all depends on this week’s SD, the subsequent title match and ultimately how this all plays out. Until then, we’ll see.
i have to say the divas on sd! totally rocks to bad candice got released becuase she could have helped out here:) ( my own opinion.) but sd! really brought it. i always give the eye candy type girls a little slack(except the bellas) because i know how hard it is to show what you are really made of. these girls should be rewarded. what more can these girls pull. i really would like to see. only thing sd! needs is another face. maybe call up aj lee or move either eve or savannah. cause eve is not getting anything from her move to raw. and maria should be rewarded underdog of the 2010 if thats an award. because 2010 will defainantly be her year. maybe a move to raw. and become divas champ. i don’t see her as womens champ. so she wcould porbaly go back to raw. and be there top face. these girls should be credited. i bet alot of divas are hoping to be drafted to sd!. they do much more there.
Notice the little details that have gone into this storyline: the clothes that accentuate the girls’ different shape of bodies, the psychology behind Beth’s conflict between conscience and competitive instinct and the nuances of Layla’s character. These contribute to the ingenious way this feud is unfolding. After Trish and Lita, it will be henceforth known there was Mickie James. Her performance was truly outstanding. So strong was her conviction you were emotionally invested in her being by the climax.
I can’t contribute to the debate because while Smackdown prospers, we’re still seeing talent being squandered on RAW.
Great, great post. This is definitely THE turning point to the division and everyone involved in it. the biggest opportunity the Divas have ever been given since 2006, and they absolutely DELIVERED.
the segment was great and so was your article, i totally agree with the bit about Mickie’s speech being like Buffy, i always thought Mickie looked like Sarah Michelle Geller (Buffy)
i think it is sad that WWE didn’t try to find the next Trish or lit or whatever, they are always looking for next big thing when it comes to the guys, there are always the guys on the mid card who step up once the more over guys are gone,
but WWE didn’t seem to have anyone they wanted to push as the next big thing (Diva wise)
i meant *the next Trish or Lita*
