The finals for the Divas Championship Tournament are set to (finally) take place in less than two weeks at the Elimination Chamber PPV. Maryse will take on Gail Kim, obviously, and we will at last have some closure for the tournament that was prompted all the way back in December when champion Melina injured her knee.

lol match probably be shorter then the James/Mccool match at RR
Such a waste of time. We know Maryse is getting it and then going to face Mickie or Beth at Mania in a title unification match.
I read that this match was suppose to happen last week, but scraped it cause there wasn’t enough time and now they are giving them a PPV?? thats pretty odd to me. I see it going this way:
Gail will dominate most if not all of the match, Maryse will do one little move and then win the title. BORING!
I wanna see some storyline development people and I wanna see Mickie celebrating with Gail when she pulls out the much deserved victory! This in turn will throw Maryse off her rocker and actually start an angle.. and a storyline.. a proper storyline… no piggie bull.
Unification? Doubt it. That doesn’t even make sense. Bret Hart had a major stroke. . .he is going to embarrass himself getting back in the ring. Vince is over sixty years old. . .need I say more? YIKES.
Agree with Mickiejamesfan07 Gail will dominate do huge things in which make the fans pop and cheer and the Maryse will hit some stupid move and probably putting her feet on the ropes therefor cheating. I see this match opening the show and being about 7min long and most of it will be Maryse posing and taunting I am as excited for this match as I am seeing Ice melt!!

I don’t dislike Maryse, per se, but I could get behind her if she (was able to) crank up the heat on her heel status and also do some wrestling! I don’t care what anybody says: I haven’t seen her do that since she returned, but then maybe it’s just me. I wouldn’t call her even a lukewarm heel, but what frustrates me is that I think she COULD be a good one, if her character was developed in such a way. Something like Ivory’s or Vickie’s heel heat sets the standard for me, so. Just my thought.

Regarding Maryse’s promo tonight, she absolutely ripped into Gail. Among her comments was comparing Gail to trash that still smells even from 100 feet away and said Gail was so miserable and pathetic that she (Maryse) felt sorry for her. It actually would have been a good heel promo in English as it wasn’t really amusing at all, just mean. But I guess since Maryse is playing nice, it had to be in French.
I dont know where to go with this one becuz theres some reasons that this match can be good and bad.
GOOD :)
1. since the McCool/Mickie match was so short
they might make this one longer.
2. theres only 2 major matches in this ppv so
they might not have to rush them.
BAD :(
1. since they make MARYSE do a limited
amount of moves gail might not have that much
to work with.
2. they might rush them so they can have enough
time to get the ring ready for the Elimination Chamber set up.
3. No telling what kind of LONG A** entrance undertaker
is gonna have and since randy does 2 steps per min
that might be another reason to rush them.
hopefully its a good match tho.
Even if Maryse doesn’t win i will be just as happy with Gail as the champ. :D
You know, sometimes I get the impression that WWE neglects the sports part of their business. I ain’t never heard of tourney that takes such prolonged breaks between rounds.
@Edazon, Meltzer is reporting that the rumored Divas match for Mania is a title unification match and he usually isn’t wrong when it comes to rumored WM matches. He was the first to report the Battle Royal last year along with the almost all of the card from previous years including this year.
Oh please if they didnt make and effort the last 2 weeks to build this fued , what makes you think its going to be anything different at the PPV ?. Maryse is gonna win gail is gonna dominate , DDT 1.2.3. Done.
Jeez I rather watch Mickie & Michelle’s rematch at EC , even though we know Mickie would win , still we know the story will be progressing.
This ‘feud’ needs some serious spice added. Maryse winning sounds obvious but I hope Gail can finally become the 1st ever Knockout, WWE Womens & Diva champion
I do remember reading somewhere in an interview with Gail Kim something along the lines of “Good things come to those who wait…” Could this be what she is talking about? Maybe they have delayed this match for such a long time because they have scraped the original plan for Maryse to win, and actually scripted it to be a good match? Storyline, promo, actual wrestling.. Maybe its just wishful thinking..but I really hope that Maryse doesnt win!
As reliable as Meltzer can be for insider info, I seriously DOUBT they would unify the womens belts so soon in the Diva’s title’s tenure. It would have been a complete waste of time and would take any prestige out of that title whatsoever, I do see them unifying the womens and divas titles down the road, or having a double champion as such.
As far as Gail vs Maryse, im a little worried that they are chucking Gail onto a PPV so soon without any build. She is known for pulling out the big guns for PPV’s so hopefully she is able to get the crowd behind her, but otherwise expect a Maryse victory parade.

Wow, when was the last time Gail got a title shot at a PPV? As great as it sounds, I’m expecting a quick 4 min. match. Hairflip + DDT + pinfall + another hairflip.

I suspect by the PPV, Gail will turn heel and Maryse will officially face. It would be the smart thing to do in that when Maryse wins the Divas title their feud will keep the division busy until Melina returns. Just before Melina comes back Gail will win it to lock into place a Gail/Melina feud for the title.
All signs indicate a Maryse victory so the only way this match will be interesting is if Gail wins. Not that the match itself will be that great though… Gail is good but Maryse couldn’t wrestle her way out of a wet paper bag.
What an opportunity … Gail Kim’s birthday is February 20th .. the next night she wins the Diva belt and becomes the only woman to hold three belts from two promotions in wrestling, but then she has had no buildup, she has spent the last year in WWE putting over much lesser talents … so dream on guy … dream on.

I might not be a fan of Maryse, but I think the WWE is putting this match to Elimination Chamber (when they could have ended this a long time ago) to give her time to recover and put on a decent show at the PPV, since having her win like she is winning lately, would almost be an embarrassment to Maryse, Gail and even WWE.
So I think she might surprise us in the E.C, but still…I would prefer if Gail win it.
i hope that we can see a decent match,but regarding Maryse´s recent perfomances i have my doubts…..

I hope Gail wins the title. Maryse is so annoying, Her wrestling is minimal at best. She spends most of her time doing hair flips. In the match I would love for Gail to kick Maryse when she is doing a hair flip. That would make my day. Maryse may be a good mic worker while she is very repetitive, but Gail has not had a chance to get on the mic. If she did and was able to do her own promos she would rip Maryse to shreds. I think this match will be short as like someone said before the chamber matches will take awhile because of the annoying entrances of Orton, Triple H & Taker.

I think you ment her first singles match at a PPV, which is cool because she get a payoff. Now let’s pray that WWE will let her have a title run, instead of Maryse. well i really hope unification doesnt happen…diva division in smackdown before diva’s championship was created was just miserable…i dont want to watch all that crap again! I don’t see the point of having two titles for the girls when they can’t handle a single storyline for them; I can just imagine what it would be if RAW didn’t have the title. Maybe matched that last 30 seconds… Anyways, we all know Maryse is gonna win this, but they could put some effort here. The fact that they included this in the PPV shows what a filler the match is.
I’m happy they finally decided on a date. But putting it on PPV? Will the girls get the amount of time they deserve? I mean look how quick Mickie vs. Michelle was at the Rumble. 2 minutes tops. I want to see a good match between the two, I know they both have the potential. Will WWE give the Diva’s the time they deserve? I sure hope so.

lets all try to not think of what the obvious out come is. gail could probaly win the title. she really could. i’m pulling for her. if maryse wins then i’m sure the next diva in line for that title is eve. thats the only thing i would be happy about if eve torres will get a shot and beat maryse. if gail wins. maybe maryse will take three months of feuding with her like she did with michelle to gain the title. or alicia gets a shot. lets not just think of the obvious. there are other outcomes with this.
