(** author’s note: To all the readers, I apologize profusely for this going up so late! My work schedule was nothing but mornings this week and it completely threw me through a loop! Hopefully the read is well worth the wait =D)
For the past few weeks, Impact has turned into the Beautiful People show and this week was no exception. As usual, Lacey Von Erich, Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, and ex-member Angelina Love took center stage. Joining them this week was special guest star, Knockout’s Champion Tara. What did the fabulous fivesome have up their sleeves for us this week? Click the video below to watch or just continue reading if you can’t be bothered.
Before the match begins, we’re treated to an interview with Angelina and Tara. Right off the bat, Christy brings up the past history between the two former rivals and Angelina is quick with a rebuttal. She flat out admits that she didn’t care for Tara when she (Tara) first arrived in TNA. Tara takes it in stride and Angelina continues on by saying the past is the past. She brings up last week and the amazing match the two women had, then gets disgusted because of how the Beautiful People interfered. Tara mumbles “welcome to my world” but Angelina brushes it off. She says that last week she and Tara had each others’ backs and that this week it would be no different.
Christy, who’s been nodding along all this time, turns her attention to Tara and asks her if there’s a special plan to take care of the Beautiful People tonight. Tara says something along the lines of “…the plan for tonight is quite simple. It’s going to get Ugly.” A confident Angelina takes the microphone, puts on her serious face, and adds “…real ugly.” Great promo by both.
After the interview, the terrible ring entrance by the Beautiful People takes place. I’m all about flashy entrances, but they completely kill me (and not in a good way). Madison and Velvet having matching outfits is completely adorable and I really like Lacey’s boots. Angelina walks out to the ring next wearing something slightly trashy but what else is new? The girl does the trash look well and manages to make it not look disgusting like it would on most people. Finally, Tara comes to the ring. All I can do is pray for no wardrobe malfunction this week. It takes a little longer than necessary to get everyone settled but when they finally do, Velvet bravely offers to being the match against Tara. It takes all of two seconds for Tara to tag in Angelina and once that happens, Velvet is off and running. She wants absolutely nothing to do with Angelina and I don’t blame her. Angelina is one fierce mamacita and Velvet stands no chance against her!
Velvet seems to be heading towards the ramp and Angelina continues to stalk her. When Velvet sees she has nowhere to go reality sinks in. She’s totally stuck. Angelina is almost to her when Lacey comes up from behind. This doesn’t faze Angelina because she slaps the stew out of her replacement. Angelina climbs back on the apron where Madison is waiting to confront her. Needless to say Angelina doesn’t care what Madison has to say because Madison Rayne gets a boot to the gut for her efforts. While all that goes on, Velvet gets back in the ring and she starts attacking Angelina. She gets her former bestie down on the mat and begins to work her over, gaining the clear upperhand. A small “You Can’t Wrestle” chant breaks out while Velvet is offense but if she actually cares, she doesn’t show it. She happily chokes Angelina Love with the woman’s own hair. When Velvet tires of the choking, she gets Angelina in a position to whip her into the ropes. I kid you not, someone from the crowd screams “TAG IN LACEY” but that doesn’t happen… yet. (Dun, dun, duuuunnnn!) Velvet whips Angelina across the ring, but it does her no good. Angelina knows what’s coming and attempts to go on offense. Velvet anticipates this, falls flat on her backside, and rolls out of the ring.
Velvet wants none of what Angelina’s got, and that’s fine with the Canadian. She turns her attention to Madison and starts picking on her. The pastel blue attired member of TBP is pulled into the ring by her blonde and pink locks, and is forced to eat a face full of turnbuckle as a punishment. Angelina tags in Tara and the Knockout’s Champion gets her first taste of action in the match! Tara sunset flips in, goes for the cover on Madison, but only gets a two count. Madison gets up but is taken down twice with arm drags. She’s taken down again with a suplex and Tara rolls her over into a guillotine-like move. Tara does a great job of bullying Madison around the ring with various little moves and eventually Madison has to get out of the ring. Velvet and Lacey jump down from the apron and start to comfort their fellow BP member. The Beautiful People receive no sympathy for Tara and Angelina. Angelina gets into the ring with Tara and the two women bounce off the ropes and come flying at the backs of the BP with dropkicks. All three members go flying into the guardrail and I’ll let you guess which one took that bump awkwardly. Tara and Angelina celebrate their dominance as the match fades to a commercial break.
When we come back, Tara is once again brutalizing Madison. She’s got her pressed against the ropes and lays into her with a vicious chest chop. Madison manages to reverse a whip into the ropes and Tara is the one who ends up across the ring. Lacey grabs the Champ’s boots, distracting her which allows Madison to go on offense. The Beautiful People finally use their numbers advantage and all three of them begin to gang up on Tara. Velvet gets the tag and she steps on Tara’s hair and painfully pulls the woman up by her arms. This has got to hurt and here’s hoping that Tara isn’t very tender headed. Now here is when the shock and awe of the match comes in. Velvet tags in Lacey who scales the ropes in probably the scariest moment in TNA history. The gorgeous Von Erich spawn stands shockingly still and looks out to the crowd. She checks behind her. And then…
And then…
…
…
… does a back flip. And not just a back flip. Lacey Von Erich does a back flip into an elbow drop. The Beautiful People start to mark. The Impact zone becomes a collection of dazed people wearing WTF faces. My own heart is nearly beating out of my chest.
Did she really just do that?
Lacey doesn’t seem as shocked as the rest of us and goes for the cover. It’s not a very convincing cover, and it’s not a very good count. But wow. Lacey follows up her OMGWTF move and cover by bouncing Tara’s face off the mat a couple of times. Madison tags herself in and takes over, but it’s not exactly a brilliant effort. She goes for a clothesline the same time Tara does and both women end up going down hard. Angelina is screaming for a tag and Velvet is as well. When both women make the hot tag we finally get Angelina versus Velvet again. That lasts about a nanosecond before everyone starts to get involved. Drama and action ensues. Lacey gets thrown across the ring back towards the BP corner, and Madison leaps on Tara’s back and starts to choke her out. Angelina absolutely attempts to rip Velvet’s head off with a boot right to the face and folks, Velvet Sky isn’t getting up anytime soon. Angelina goes for the cover but the stupid, distracted referee is to busy trying to get Madison off Tara to pay attention. Angelina gets a thousand count and then gets knocked into next week by Lacey and the Ugly Stick. Lacey stands there for longer than she needs too and then it dawns on her to get out of the ring. Velvet’s dead weight rolls over on Angelina and Madison releases Tara. The referee goes down and counts the pin, and Velvet Sky picks up a huge win for the Beautiful People over Angelina and Tara.
So what do I think about this?
Well, it wasn’t a bad match by any means. I basically had a heart attack when Lacey pulled off that moonsault. I was scared for her, scared for Tara, and everyone in the Impact zone, but thankfully no one was harmed, or worse… killed. Velvet getting the pin over Angelina was a nice little twist. It’s not exactly blow your mind wrestling, but what is these days? For the past few weeks we’ve gotten nothing but the Beautiful People and I’m afraid that the over exposure of all these Knockouts are going to start to wear on the fans. Where are Sarita, Taylor Wilde, Kong, Hamada, Traci, ODB? Doesn’t Daffney still work for TNA? I know Roxxi is injured, but there are other girls on the roster to pick from. Lets showcase them as well. Shoving the same people down our throats every week isn’t going to make people excited about the Knockout portion(s) of Impact.
Then again, maybe we should just feel fortunate we have Knockout action. TNA is being ran by a bunch of people who killed WCW and never ran a women’s division. I don’t know how many of you readers remember WCW but they had no women’s title. They didn’t have regular female wrestling matches. Their girls were glorified arm candy, sex objects. They got to wrestle from time to time in degrading mud matches and other stupid gimmick contests. I know the WWE uses this crap too but this is TNA. They’re supposed to be our alternative. I try to find the silver lining in all of this and there’s a nice one. I already stated the match wasn’t bad at all but we need to switch things up. Lets use some other girls or lets have, God forbid, more than one match. TNA used to be all about the Knockouts but that certainly isn’t the case right now. Instead of having useless people like Scott Hall, X-Pac, and the Nasty Boys around, the Knockouts division needs to be showcased more. It needs to be respected more. I love the Beautiful People but if I watch them on my television one more time against Angelina and Tara, or any combination of one or the other I’m liable to scream and throw my laptop at the TV.
And we can’t have that happen, can we?

WCW actually did have a women’s title for awhile in 1996 ….that womens division revolved around madusa
ha i thought it was funny that before lacey did her moonsault, she pointed at the people who always chant you cant wrestle at her….kinda like “this is for you guys”
WCW wasn’t slowly dying then :) It was thriving, basically and eventually it all went to bits including the “women’s division”. I was a huge WCW fan. It was my show. I only got into the WWE after WCW was purchased.
Macho Madness-…who threw the Women’s title in the trash. That’s why I can never, ever truly respect Madusa as an in-ring performer.I don’t care how bitter she was, that was just wrong.
Great write-up Cryssi! You made me lmao many times.Especially when talking about Lacey’s ‘awe-inspiring’ moonsault into an elbow.
I thought the match was okay. I got kind of scared when Lacey went to the top rope but the backflip with cool. The elbow was cool. Lacey actually looks like she can wrestle well if she does the work. She’s tall and has some size on her so I can see her throwing chicks around the ring. the rest of the women did good as well. I love Tara and rarely dislike one of her matches. I wish Angelina would change her ring entrance. Madison was good. Velvet was Velvet. Did she really get trained at a wrestling school? She’s not really all that good for all the smack she talks about models in the business.
Good report Cryssi, but your rant is funny
The Nastys werent part of this week’s show, and the Band were like..4 min on tv(less than half of time the KO match was),
and 6pac selling Hogan’s punch > your rant.
And you forgot to mention that there isnt gonna be a KO match on PPV for the first time since the division was created…, i would say its a good decision with the stacked tournament in the PPV, and AJ/Joe would get like 20-25 min.
Roxxi is gonna return to help Tara/Angelina to even up the score against TBP, I see Roxxi/Tara/Angelina for the belt at Lockdown.
Yesterday i recorded TNA because when i saw what the match was i wasent to excited and TBQH i was expecting the worse. BUT when i seen that picture of LVE doing that back flip/moonsault looking move my glasses flew across the room right then i knew i had to watch the match. and when i seen her do it and on top of that hit an elbow drop!! AND IT CONNECTED!!!! i almost had a asthma attack.
Lacey managed to not look like an horrible wrestler. She only needs more training.
I’m so proud of Lacey, that Backflip into an elbow was PERFECT. What i loved more was that she finally shut up those stupid impact zone fans who usually chant at her “you can’t wrestler”. When she nailed that elbow, i was like “TAKE THAT IMPACT ZONE FANS”
I only look forward to the beautiful people because I wanna see Madison, this girl has so much potential to be a big star in TNA. I hope she eventually breaks away from the beautiful people and becomes a singles star. It’s always possible because TNA management seem to really like her, they’re always saying good things about her like she’s improving so much and thats she’s the best worker of the beautiful people
Velvet is like one of the worst female wrestlers I have ever seen, she keeps bashing the divas but the truth is 98% of those divas are better than her. She’s always sceaming and making goofy gestures, it annoys me so much. Why was she running away from Angelina, you don’t run away in wrestling.
I hope the next impact tapings are better, i really miss Sarita, Taylor, Roxxi and kinda ODB
Lacey did a backflip and then did the elbow drop. it was no better than a kelly kelly flip. and considering that lacey spent thirty seconds in the match, i think tna fans will still say “you cant wrestle”.
Credit where credits due Im impressed Laceys most strenuous input this week wasn’t her entrance for once, but I’m alreadytired of this feud it just seems to ve the typical TBP feud with a new victim an Tara thrown in and post match attacks are just a way of acing flames to the fire week in, week out, rather than mic time, which I think is why the Piggie James storyline excelled (as well as it’s controversial issue) and one less enjoyable thing about TBP is Velvet herself, when will she stop that snarling dog noise she makes because it really doesn’t sell her moves anymore.
One thig I’d like to say and I’m not an anti-knockout here but if Eve had did Laceys ‘magical’ moonsault everyone would be stoning her saying it’s a botch, yet Lacey does it and everyones wowed because she stayed in the ring for more than a second? Because to me it looked botched, Taz gasped way before she did the elbow drop and it did seem a bit awkward and showy or a simple move. Plus moonsault is a bit stroganoff don’t you actually have to land on you opponent to call it that? Yes by doing this one move she’s coming on leaps and bounds but I don’t see why people love it so much just because Lacey seems to be in an underclass of her own.
I’ll await the ‘don’t bash my one true love’ comments now…
lol its hard to call Lacey a wrestler when all she does is tag matches
and one lil blackflip to a elbow drop doesn’t erases the crap we seen from Rhaka Blonde
And. I meant strong not stroganoff. I’m on an itouch so predictives on and its hard for my oversized thumbs to type.
uh all she did was a backflip which we’ve seen her do before on youtube vids. land on her feet. elbow drop. That’s nothing really AMAZING lol. Maybe if she didn’t land on her feet, it would be amazing. I’m not trying to burst anybody’s bubble and I like Lacey but it was just an elbow drop xD
People seem to be treating lacey as if she is now some kind of hero, who has proved all her critics wrong, just because she did a back flip into a elbow drop?
I will admit that she did the move well and it looked good, but i’m not by a long shot going to say she can now wrestle.
I also dont understand when she didn’t do the moonsault straight into an elbow drop, instead of landing on her feet. She takes regular bumps by landing on her stomach,so i don’t think it would have hurt her physically.
Other than that I thought the match as ok, im happy that it was longer than what we have beeing seeing.
However the crowd made me feel really uncomfatable with the chants towards Lacey, how are they expecting her to get better, when there chants must obviously effect her confidence.
I’ll be happy when this feud is over as im board of watching the same people every week. If some one asked me how many women wrestler in TNA, I’d say five, as the others have just vanished.
I’m happy for Lacey, it was surprising to see her get in the match and the move looked good, at least her training has started to show some progression,
i really liked Tara’s suplex into a submission, i thought it was odd they didn’t add a third KO on Tara and Angelina’s side there are some KO’s that it feels like we haven’t seen in forever
@RKOyou velvet has some good indie matches but in TNA she doesnt do much, she is meant to be just a pretty face i guess
btw, i just noticed that there isn’t a knockout match on the PPV this weekend. It might be because it’s a tournament kinda thing and that the match just didnt fit in the concept (although they did make room for the Nasty Boys-vs-Team 3D), but lets hope thats not going to become a habit. I don’t even remember the last ppv that didnt have a knockout match.
This is rather funny, Eve missed a kick this week and many people really came down hard on her and Lacey did a backflip and people are so proud of her. She still cannnot wrestle very well at all and I’m thankful she didn’t hurt herself or Tara.
Hopefully she does improve but I havent seen anything from her other than her being a pretty face and a decent character. Nothing to make me want to see her wrestle. I miss Taylor, Kong etc…
karl- what you’re asking her to do is physically impossible, you can’t do the moonsault straight into an elbow drop because then you’ll get a trainwreck.
I don’t think it would be impossible tbh RKO, I have seen alot of females do alot more impressive moves that would be much more difficult to pull off. I think the move she used was fine but she is still green in the ring and the worse Tna knockout as far as in ring ability goes. As I said before I hope she improves.
WOW….we finally see LACEY do an actual wrestling move and a kinda good one at that and people still point out the negative things and act like we said OMG that was the best move in TNA history. yea LVE is not the best wrestler but GEESH can we at least give her some credit for doing something that we all thought that she would never be able to do.
The backflip into an elbow has been a signature move of Lacey’s for quite some time on the independent circuit. Correct me if I’m wrong but did the fans chant “That’s impressive!” after Lacey did her elbow? If so, that’s kind of cool that they’re giving her her dues instead of just blindly hating her for in character comments she made last year. Don’t get me wrong, the elbow wasn’t all that and wouldn’t be a big deal if any other girl in this mach had done it (in that same respect, it wouldn’t be getting eye rolls or considered overdone either), but its nice to see Lacey not be a hot mess for once. Kudos to her.
RKOyou – All you have to do is do is a flip and land on your back with your elbow out.. how is that physically impossible? lol
…because then you’re likely to blow out your elbow… hence the reason why the moonsault ends in a front bump (unless you’re Eve Torres who typically lands on her knees first… makes me nervous every time she does it)
Lacey really needs some serious wrestling training! Nice shot by the way! =D
First of all this match sucks. Moonsault flip into a elbow drop? Big whoop. Hello?! Remember Eve Torres vs Natalya when Eve first did a moonsault?! Yeah how original TNA. Please they have to come harder than that.
@Cryssi— you didn’t say “they didnt have a women’s division/title twords the end of WCW” you said that WCW never had a womens title, which they did. Secondly Eric Bischoff did run a women’s divison in WCW, not saying it was good or bad, but you are incorrect there with the statment that the people there now never ran a women’s division. Not trying to be a mr know it all, just had to point that out.
I just think they realize that TBP/ Angelina Love fued is very hot, and they are running with it. Unfortunately, as much as I love the beautiful people, it been a bit of an overload. They need to mix the other KO’s in there as well. I think the KO division will work it’s self out over time just like the other divisions that need to be re-focused, the x-divison and tag division. Bischoff/Hogan have only been there for a month after all, you can’t expect a perfect product right away.
Ha didn’t hear it untill now, but the people who are always giving lacey sh*t(the ones she pointed at before she did the backflip) chanted “that was impressive” after she did that move….pretty funny
I don’t get all the comotion, Lacey has done that moves plenty of times on Indy matches. Never really seen it off the ropes but She has done a backflip into an elbow drop before. And she uses that backflip when entering the ring,
But i do like that she finally was used on the match even if it was just for that. Something is something. Lacey <3.
I’m still not impressed. Sure, Lacey did a “high risk” move and I appreciate the “effort” but that still doesn’t prove that she’s a great wrestler or that she has a lot of potential. I’m sorry… but if she thinks that doing one flashy move can emphasize her love or acumen for pro-wrestling, then that makes it even worse. I guess some people are swayed so easily because it was quite the surprise. Hmmm…
Lacey gave me multiple heart attacks. I could not believe my eyes. I loved how she proved everyone in that arena wrong. They were all chanting “tag in Lacey” just to see her botch, then she came out with that moonsault elbow drop. Kudo’s to her. But what did the crowd begin chanting after she did it? I can’t really understand it. I thought it was a good match overall but I would like to see something different. And like Cryssi said, we used to get 2-3 Knockout matches. Now, we get 1 featuring The Beautiful People. Use your other Knockouts TNA, please.
I didn’t read any of the comments so I’m really sorry if this has been addressed, but I wouldn’t dog WCW’s women. At least in WCW most of the women were on equal ground with the men. They weren’t afraid. Most of them could go toe to toe with the men and weren’t knocked out with a simple body slam. Even the eye candy! This was the state of WCW’s women all the way up to the end when they got the bright idea to mass fire them all weeks before WCW was sold to WWE.
I remember back when Jacqueline was set to debut in WWE as Marc Mero’s valet I was SO excited because she had a REALLY exciting character in WCW months prior to her release. She was the arm charm of Kevin Sullivan who doubled as his bodyguard. Sullivan would routinely throw his opponent out of the ring where Jacqueline would make short work of them before throwing them back into the ring. Imagine my disappointment when she showed in WWE as not only a significantly WEAKER character but she was also SCARED of SABLE!!
Ok, Lacey did a backflip. That then completely clashed with her rubbish selling and that weak looking shot to Angelina with the Ugly Stick at the end. I’m getting bored of Impact right now, the KOs are getting really repetitive and they are pushing the Diva like KOs and the thing about it is, 2 of the 3 Diva like KOs being pushed are like as bad if not worse than Rosa Mendes.
No one dogged WCW’s women. The way they were used was “dogged” if you want to use a ridiculous term.
“@Cryssi— you didn’t say “they didnt have a women’s division/title twords the end of WCW” you said that WCW never had a womens title, which they did. Secondly Eric Bischoff did run a women’s divison in WCW, not saying it was good or bad, but you are incorrect there with the statment that the people there now never ran a women’s division. Not trying to be a mr know it all, just had to point that out.”
I don’t consider their women’s title or “division” an actual one in terms of what we see today. It’s my opinion and it’s not incorrect because my words are my words. My thoughts are my thoughts. And I am free to write and word things how I want. I appreciate the corrections and whatnot, but this is an opinionated Write-Up and that’s my prerogative.
Christie- How are you supposed to land on your back if you’re doing a moonsault, your front lands on the ground. See it is impossible, what your asking her to do is a moonsault and another flip on top of that, making it 2 rotations in the air which is IMPOSSIBLE when you look at how small the distance is from the top rope from the ground
NO ONE IS SAYING LACEY IS AN AWESOME WRESTLER, she usually does nothing the whole match and then out of no where, she does this amazing move and it’s perfectlty connected. she deserves to get credit for it, some of you are just plain HATERS and just like to bash Lacey for no reason, you always try to find the bad instead of the good
no one is comparing Lacey to Eve torres or Kelly kelly, we have higher standrads for them because they know their way around the ring. We’re comparing Lacey to Lacey and she did a good job with that move
“Good report Cryssi, but your rant is funny
The Nastys werent part of this week’s show, and the Band were like..4 min on tv(less than half of time the KO match was),
and 6pac selling Hogan’s punch > your rant.”
I wouldn’t know who is on Impact because frankly, I’m not going to force myself to watch the entire show if I don’t have too. If you want to be a fan of TNA in general, then that’s your right. I don’t have to be a fan or watcher of the entire product because Diva Dirt is only about women’s wrestling. I watch TNA for the Knockouts and like I’ve stated before, the pre-Hogan era was about the Knockouts. We didn’t have all these older, washed up stars who are desperately trying to hang on for one last shot of glory. If you want to say that X-Pac and his selling is better than my rant, good for you. Don’t read what I write if you don’t like the fact I dislike the current state of TNA. Hulk Hogan’s friends are taking time away from the Knockouts and younger, more talented stars in TNA who deserve their chance to shine. These other people have had their opportunities and the majority of them have already blown their second, third, and fourth chances. That’s all.
RKOyou wrote: “some of you are just plain HATERS and just like to bash Lacey for no reason, you always try to find the bad instead of the good”
Sure looks like you are describing yourself, because thats exactly the way you usually talk about Michelle McCool, Maryse, Kelly Kelly or any other diva/knockout you don’t like.
honestly i was like WHAT? D:, what she did cause i was like not payin attention when the tag was made and then i just heard a BAMP! i was ok rewind
and watch it over and over again… and was pretty cool
.. so i’m rooting for you Lacey .. :)
The only think i’m not sure about is, what is going to happend when angelina gets the leadership from TBP?
They are going to throw lacey out or Madison again, or 2 TBP, or WHAT! ..
I’ve seen Lacey do a backflip into an elbow drop in the indys to Cheerleder Melissa on the ground. So I believe she can do it on the 2nd turnbuckle. I don’t think anybody is hating. it’s something we knew Lacey could do. We’ve seen her do backflips and eveybody can do an elbow drop. Even Taz said “that was a lot of work for an elbow”.
“I’ve seen Lacey do a backflip into an elbow drop in the indys to Cheerleder Melissa”
I assume you mean the Pro Wrestling Revelution match where Melissa shamefully lost? I didnt know she did the elbow drop. I only remember her backflipping and awkwardly landing (she had to take 2 backward steps). I think she intended to do a dropkick right after landing. That was also the match where she used a succesful powerslam, i’m surprised she doesnt use that move more, if she can lift Melissa, then she should also be able to lift the other knockouts.
Yeah I am. I thought she did the elbow thing and Melissa moved away to counter it but who knows lol
so, um, lacey does a spazzy kick and she’s criticised, she falls on the way to the ring, she’s criticised, she does a mildly impressive (for her) backflip elbow, and she’s still criticised.
what do you guys want from her, exactly? seriously, i want to know.
“what do you guys want from her, exactly? seriously, i want to know.”
Execute a convincing clothesline, a dropkick or even throw a decent punch. The basic stuff. Or maybe see her land on her back when someone throws her down.
i loveeeeeeeeeee the beautiful ppl! i was so impressed when lacey went to the top rope and backfliped then elbowed tara!
i also really liked the match i thought it was a good length of time….
mikas, i want that, too. but she just can’t and right now the off backflip is enough to get her by just as long as she is training hard on the basics.
*odd not off, d’oh.
A lotta work for an elbow, indeed. Reading the comments before watching, I was expecting something else… :/
Sasson, Taz, not Vidal Sassoon. :P
