Her antics last night only added to the monstrous heat that Vickie Guerrero draws from WWE audiences. Up until now, she hadn’t really incurred the [kayfabe] wrath of Diva fans but in the past few weeks, we’ve seen Vickie try on a new hat. No longer content with making the Superstars’ lives that much more difficult, Guerrero is now becoming a foil of sorts to the Divas. In recent weeks on SmackDown, we’ve seen her tangle with Mickie James and last night, she wasn’t too impressed with the Raw Divas — who as SmackDown consultant, she has no real authority over. But given how great she is on the microphone and how much heat she draws… should WWE try to change that and give her authority over all of the WWE Divas?

TNA has tried it with ‘Knockout Law’, Traci Brooks and admittedly failed through their own short attention span, applying the same gimmick to WWE — who arguably have an even shorter attention span — could prove disastrous. But on the other hand — this is Vickie Guerrero, after all. Despite being teased and prodded over her weight, Vickie still manages to be this larger-than-life character that fans just love to hate. Her work itself, and the heat it draws, could bring some much needed attention to the Divas division without the creative team putting much effort in [not that they currently do].

I’ve spoken about this in the last few weeks, it’s great to see Vickie work segments and hopefully storylines with the Divas because it’s only logical that as a woman in power, she’d have a vested interest in what’s going on with the ladies right? Having that authority figure to preside solely over the Divas seems like a great position to put her — perhaps moreso than the other Diva GM, Tiffany. Vickie’s character resonates with the crowd in a way that Tiffany doesn’t, Guerrero comes across as a ruthless ‘Mr McMahon’ type and that could prove interesting in terms of storylines. I have already likened the current Vickie/Mickie situation to perhaps evolving into a McMahon/Stone Cold type feud for the women. Sure, it’s not exactly a ‘Divas’ feud, but I think I’d be lying if I said it didn’t sound somewhat appealing. Why? Because of the prowess of Vickie Guerrero. She has the ability to carry a feud through her verbiage alone, and if put into a match situation — fans would want to see her get her comeuppance.

Besides, what is a SmackDown consultant anyway and why do we need one? Teddy Long is surely GM enough for SmackDown? I’d suggest that rather than being ‘consultant’, being the GM of a whole division is surely more prominent? The idea of a Divas GM would at least lend credence, if only on-screen, that the Divas are taken seriously by needing their own enforcer. In reality, we know that it wouldn’t affect the booking much but at least on-screen you have that feeling of importance for the division.

It’s been interesting to see Vickie slowly become part of the Divas ‘storylines’, I’d like to see it go one further. If there’s one woman who could perhaps draw enough hype and attention for the entire women’s division, it’s Vickie. And going into WrestleMania, where Divas are usually an afterthought, hype and attention can only be a good thing.

  1. It would make sense, especially since they used her to postpone a match of two divas who are in another roster. But i like Vickie being…Vickie to all, not just the girls. Maybe they should put her has a “Talent Director”, even though she would have to be even more on the road.

  2. No, I think it would limit her character. Vickie interacting with the Diva’s is great, but she can do a lot more with the superstars. I think that would be a demotion.

  3. Who cares?
She should totally be general manager of the Divas. They would get more time.

  4. It’s an interesting idea but I’m just wondering about the logistics of such a position. How much power will she have? Where would her capacities end say if she wants to make a mix-tag match or she wants Beth to start wrestling males? If a guest host wants to make a special divas match like they have in the past, does that mean she can nix what they say? If so, what’s the appeal in being a guest host if they can’t do whatever they want?

I think WWE proved last night that they book whatever they want as they see fit, so while I see your point, I wonder do logistics really matter?

  5. I have been following this website for months, and I love what you guys have done with it. This is my first post , so bear with me.

The Vickie Guerrero effect is an excellent addition to the storyline. It goes to show you that the Smackdown Divas are in higher regard than the raw Divas. The Postponed Match was a good IMO, because If you look at the Character ratio it places Gail Kim as the Ultimate underdog in the storyline. By having 4 heels against One babyface it creates an invested interest in the babyface to succeed. This match may have marked the beginning of character development for Gail Kim. Now she will be seen as the top Face on raw , since the crowd now knows why they should care.

Maryse got more heel heat for her dirty tactics than she ever has since her return and the only victim in the entire segment was Gail. This was a good restart to an already stale storyline. Maybe the WWE is finally starting to get the hint.

  6. I love it if they have a special GM for the divas, and i hope that means the divas become independent of the 2 brands, put them wherever management sees fit. That way you dont have to see the same feuds over and over again.

  7. I think she should have interaction with both the Superstars & the Divas – this will make her into an all round “GM Veteran” so to speak.
She will become very involved with a lot of the storylines weather behind the scenes or in the ring – I think this could be fantastic for the Divas, the Superstars, WWE & Female roles in general :)

  8. Vickie Guerrero should become the GM of all brands. As WWE sanitised the product with tired clichés, it’s become rare that anyone (let alone a woman since Lita turned heel) draws so much legitimate heat from the audiences. If you confine the broad appeal to a division that doesn’t necessarily have focus, you might find her character diminished. I think she should be used as a universal foil for every face wrestler.

  9. the food thing about vickie is she gets incredible heat. if this were to happen, it could be a great way to get the regular viewers interested in the divas again.

they could even make a mini feud between vickie and tiffany out of it.

  10. *good not food. d’oh.

  11. in the end it all depends of the creative, not the character itself.remeber that even Vickie was involved in one of the worst matches ever saw, that hog pen match againt that man in drag(i refuse to say its name)…and even that “match” yesterday was nothing to be remembered.
Vickie would have a lot to gain if she wouldnb´t be limited only to the Divas…let´s see what happens this week in the title match.

  12. I think Vickie helps push a variety of fueds, so I think limiting her to just the Divas would be a bad idea, unless there was an all Divas show, then I think she’d be an awesome GM for that.

  13. I’ll make this short and sweet, nooooooooooo

vickie needs to just mind her own business and stop changing matches just to benefit her friends.

then again, Vickie is not really the one making the decisions, it’s the writers

  14. Why be a PPV customer when you have the likes of Vicki. Some fans might think that it is humurous, but fans are entitled to receive what they pay for. She will hurt the bottom line.

  15. i agree that Vickie would solidfiy/unite the Divas but i would actually make her a fair(semi-fair) commissioner…and she would resolve problems OOOORRRRR
You could make her have a vendetta against ALL the Diva because she’s Jealous
of all the “thin” and “Classic Beautiful” Divas…and one diva will rise up against her Tyranny..lol …..Kelly Kelly maybe?

  16. I want to see her as a divas GM. WWE will definitely continue to push Vickie as she is a great heel and as a result, it will push the divas roster. Maybe even get Stephanie eventually involved as a battle for dominancy in the WWE?

  17. i think its a good idea
i mean “techinically” she did come up with the Divas championship
and plus she is very entertaining =D

  18. I think it would help or hurt them.Having Vickie as General manager of the Divas could evan more screen time for her and even less for them,OR it could mean more time for the Divas to develop.

Also,I agree with Edazon,it would seem to me like some type of demotion for Vickie, unless she keeps playing a main role in the men’s storylines as well as the women’s.

  19. sounds cool
id loce to see that happening

  20. Vickie Guerrero As Gm Of The Divas I A Good Posibility, But Firstly I Dont Think That The WWE Will Accept Have A GM For The Divas, They Didnt Accept The Diva Special Night On ECW Despite That The Idea Was By The ECW GM Tiffany.
But in Case They Do I Support It While That Decesion Wouldnt Upset The Diva Fans.

  21. Hell Yeah I would love for Vickie to b come GM of the Divas! Maybe they kan get more interesting. Last Night and the whole Mickie problem proves it
