  1. Melanie is to funny when she says “this shit lives on!” :)

I agree with you guys, I bought this PPV to mainly see Maryse vs. Gail and we all got a tag team match. I don’t think it’s right that they advertised a match and we didn’t get to see it. That’s not fair to the fans. If they wanted to have a tag team match, they should have done it and then made Vicki annouce Maryse vs Gail after the tag team match was over. It’s not like they didn’t have enough time because they added Miz vs. MVP. They could have NOT had that match and just put Maryse vs Gail AFTER the tag match but NO WAY, that’s asking to much from WWE.

  2. Melanie, you hit the nail on the head that WWE’s making things up on the spot. Makes you wonder, using Vickie’s reasoning about her authority to make this match, does that mean theoretically Tiffany when she was GM could’ve made her own matches on Raw and SD?

It just frustrates me for so many reasons. I mean, I’ve said it before, it’s a tournament! What tournament drags on this long? Imagine if they postponed the Olympic ice hockey championship this long. It’s ludicrous. Second, it’s like WWE is abusing their swerves. I don’t mind ‘em but when you do them so close together and so badly timed they lose their effect. Like I said I’ll judge this completely by what happens on Raw. With WWE’s track record, I’m not banking on the match being tomorrow. Heck, I can see no significant Maryse/Gail interaction whatsoever.

  3. if it was on raw or superstars, it would have been okay. but this happening on ppv is pretty annoying for me.

i sort of do want them to hold off until wrestlemania as it means we’ll actually get a match, but at the same time i just want it over with. we need a champion. whether it be maryse or gail or even if they change the rules and it winds up being frickin’ vickie, i don’t care.

i can see them having the real proper final tomorrow. but with lay-cool being nearby, i’m half expecting another both brand tag match. likely with mickie in place of maryse.

  4. i wonder if wwe is really gonna go all the way with laycool & vickie…… every favor they need they’ll go straight to her & stuff ..

  5. I have a feeling that Vikki will capture the title very soon and then the women’s title will become a joke. I just don’t understand wwe, I mean when Trish and Lita were around they gave them amazing storylines with Gail,Molly,Ivory,Jazz,Chyna and etc. Why can’t they do the same for the girls today? Is it because the wwe isn’t PG-14 anymore and they can’t degrade the women anymore like they once did back in 2000-2006 by calling them “sluts”. Maybe they can’t write a diva friendly PG storyline, besides the one with Mickie and McCool. i seriously have at least 3 storylines that would be PG rated, but most are PG14. I’m just frustrated!…..You guys should have a fan-fiction forum added to this site….

  6. @ litafan2000 – I’m sure most people have storylines in mind for the Divas… sadly the creative team aren’t some of those people.

  7. im hoping they will just get the match over with on raw and then have the loser continue to go after the belt.

  8. As far as the swerve goes, I think its great because all everyone was saying about this “feud” was how predictable it was and now we really don’t know where they’re going with it. So its nice to see that WWE had a trick up their sleeve and weren’t as obviously uncaring about the Divas as we assumed. As for Maryse’s limited ring time, that’s her gimmick. She doesn’t wrestle because she’s a heel and its her way of pissing people off when she sneaks out the win. And as for where I think this is going, I would love to see yet another SmackDown! vs. RAW Divas tag match with Maryse and Gail teaming up against Michelle and Layla, but this time putting aside their differences and working together for the common good, sort of like Trish and Lita did against Torrie and Stacy. I think that could be a cool WrestleMania match. It wouldn’t frivolously be about the title and I think we could see a more aggressive side of Maryse that way. I just wouldn’t want it to be some brand warfare where every Eve, Alicia and Kelly gets involved for the sake of another WrestleMania appearance. Vicky could even be included without giving me second hand embarrassment that way, making Maryse and Gail’s lives hell leading up to the match in favor of Michelle and Layla.

  9. btw who else is tired of seeing Michelle McCool on a ppv? like seriously wwe keeps shoving her down our throats and she can’t even get a decent crowd reaction to this day. It’s really starting to be annoying now to be honest.

  10. @randallsnow19 I totally agree.

  11. i agree with u guys…when wwe belive in some1 especially a diva they keep pushing her and non other…trish and lita used to get the best storylines and when they left divas division became a joke while there were other good divas from the golden era like victoria and torrie
and now they only wanna push mccool…i respect her and all but they gave her more chances than many others…she used to get new move every couple of weeks till she became a good worker and had a stable decent move-set…and many segments till she became better on mic….dont know why they dont push others who already got it all!!

  12. As much I want Maryse to win, I feel that the longer the feud goes on, the more likely Gail is to win. Perhaps they are trying to build a real feud? But probablt not!

  13. Well you can’t blame Michelle, she’s a WWE trusted PPV worker. She has put on consistently good matches on PPVs. Minus the crowd reaction, she’s got the goods to back up a push.

  14. ha I wouldn’t say good matches at ppv I’d say decent at best.

  15. Michelle has turned into a great worker, however I agree with the notion that the WWE is pushing her down our throats, its like they REALLY want her to get over but theres something about her that just prevents her from really connecting with the crowd.

Gail vs Maryse has to be the most PISS POOR womens fued in a while. The WWE had almost 2 whole months to create an actual fued between these two and now theyre trying to jumpstart it with Vickie and co.

Ive discovered to be appreciative of the fact that I get to see GAIL wrestle on a weekly basis, otherwise I wouldnt want to watch at all. If they wanted a minimalistic fued they couldve had Maryse stall the title matches coming out and then saying she doesnt want to wrestle to get heat and then having Gail beat the crap out of her, as opposed to what were getting.

  16. Just watched the match, wasn’t bad at all, hopefully the Diva’s title match will get more time than that tag match did. I would’ve been more angry if that would have been the actual title match, they were out there for 3 or 4 minutes, but it was justified with Gail taking the beating and then not being able to tag out. So glad Maryse got some heat at the end of that, it wasn’t Vickie level, but it was heat! Hopefully either a lenghty title match or a real feud comes out of this, hey, maybe even both!

  17. Just watched the match and I actually loved it. Gail and Layla worked great together and I felt like all four ladies came out of this looking good. Yeah, Gail got pinned and DDT’d by her own partner, but she had a good showing in the actual match. For the first time in a long time, I’m excited to watch and see how this will progress.

Also, Maryse was reminding more of her more dastardly SmackDown! counterpart from last year. Her telling Gail to get back in the ring and pushing her face made me lol.

And on a side note, I thought all four Divas looked incredible tonight, IMO.

  18. Re: B Fizzle – I’d agree…I thought all four looked great too!

I was just disapppointed b/c I was excited to see a solid Divas title match and I thought the build the past few weeks was decent. I know I mark out for Beth, but had she been advertised to wrestle for a title and then they switched the match like this, I would have been bummed out b/c I might not have bought the PPV otherwise.

I hope they take this and actually create an interesting storyline on RAW now.

  19. I just re-watched the match and I myself thought it was good build up to this feud and think all four ladies came out looking good, but Maryse stood out to me with that beautiful ddt and her gestures are just simply amazing as well her christma. wow..Wish they would just let her show us more in the ring instead of a punch slap ddt….I want the old Maryse back. I love her lol

  20. “if it was on raw or superstars, it would have been okay. but this happening on ppv is pretty annoying for me.”

I co-sign on this. I thought this exact thing earlier. When you advertise for something to be on a card, especially a PPV, then you’re expected to deliver because chances are people are spending their money for whatever specific event they’re looking forward to. Changing a house or a live show, okay, but a PPV? For a tournament? Why didn’t they just do this on RAW? Trying to do a swerve in such a way is not a good thing. Could one imagine if they had changed the WWE Elimination Chamber match to just a regular match with no title on the line or something like that? For them to change it like that says that WWE feels that Divas are so low on the food chain that no one could have possibly been looking forward to/paying for the PPV for their sakes. It’s not a good look; in fact it’s shoddy business and one would think that WWE would know better. I wouldn’t mind as much if I didn’t feel almost absolutely certain that the change has more to do with what I described than it being about trying to be “unpredictable”.

The match itself was good and even though I thought it stupid (while at the same time understanding why) that Maryse only did one move the whole match, I think it was good that she stayed out because the other women shone with what they had.

Michelle should have been insulting the crowds and especially the IWC directly in her promos. That’d get a reaction. :)

  21. The match itself was fine. No botches or arkward spots. Gail and McCool looked good as usual and Layla is reliable in the ring.

Did anyone catch Vickie calling herself a DIVA??? Not to read too much into it, but anyone think she might end up winning either the Women’s or Diva’s Title? Yikes!

If it builds something between Gail and Maryse for the actual match I won’t mind. If not, it makes little sense. Few thoughts:

    1. How does Vickie Guerrero, the Consultant for SmackDown have the POWER to veto a RAW match?

    2. Maryse’s comments about the Piggie James stuff were benign and now they’re being called disparaging. Maryse is on the RIVAL BRAND, she’s supposed to be repping her brand and can say what she likes about the competition.

    3. Both Vickie and McCool need to logically be eying that title match on SmackDown this week.

Still, I’m majorly impressed with Vickie’s heat. Who thought the words “Excuse me!” would generate such nuclear heat?

  22. Well that was really unpredictable. I don’t know if I should be happy about this unpredictability or if I should be mad cause there wasn’t a championship match. I really can not say.

  23. was so mad, i stayed up till 3am & the match didn’t happen UGH I’m still a bit mad about it now,
especially since after all this it will probably happen on RAW like it was going to in the first place >:l lol

  24. Gail took a real beating, so i think they may pretend she’s injured and hand the title over to Maryse :s

oh no after what Crissy said about Vikki’s comment i feared that maybe Vikki will pin Mickie on SD in the special ref match… no thanks, i like her as a character but ugh Vikki as champion? hell no!

  25. Eh, I was hoping to see Maryse get the title, but at least they finally gave the feud some build (might be better next time to do that before the night of the actual match lol). Gail actually got cheered during her backstage promo and Maryse got good heat for laying out Gail at the end. I can only hope they continue to build off this tonight and that this wasn’t just a one off simply because they wanted to find a way to shoehorn Michelle onto the show.

Hopefully there’s not another battle royal at WM this year. I see Michelle getting the title back this week :( then maybe Maryse & Gail v Michelle and Mickie in a RAW v SD tag match at WM. Maybe they can put both titles on the line, like the first fall is for the (still lol) vacant Divas title and the second fall for the Womens belt. I’m drawing a blank right now, but I’m sure they done something similar to that with the guys a few years ago.

  26. “Excuse ME!” <– How does that bring so much heat to a segment. It blows me away! lol

Hmm I was looking forward to hearing about Maryse/Gail winning their match on this after show so I'm not too happy.
Not fair on the Diva fans who have payed to watch this match & simply see a Divas tag tea match (handicap more or less.)
    $40 Woow :O

  27. I for some reason saw the match not going ahead, due to a beatdown or something, and then I heard Vickie and thought “Argh, it’s gonna get postponed again!” And then it was. I love Vickie’s Excuse Me’s and then although the tourney should be over, this segment added fuel to the fire and actually gave Gail and the fans a legitimate reason to hate Maryse. It also makes Gail winning look possible, which is great. :)
