It was announced tonight on Raw that the newest member of the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010 is none other than 2-time Women’s Champion and women’s wrestling legend Wendi Richter. From her famous alliance with Cyndi Lauper to her rivalry with the Fabulous Moolah, Wendi has certainly cemented her place in the wrestling history books, and this move to induct her is proof of that.
Her attendance at this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony would mark her first WWE appearance since 1985, when she was on the receiving end of the “original screwjob”, where she lost her title to the Fabulous Moolah under shady circumstances. She has since avoided contact with the WWE. That is, until now.
You may remember Wendi turning down the chance to appear in the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal at last year’s WrestleMania (Smart choice, right?). This move to induct her into the Hall of Fame may indicate that the harsh feelings between her and the WWE have softened since this time last year. At any rate, congrats Wendi!!
