WWE has made Katie Lea an orphan! The company has announced that it has axed former ECW wrestler Paul Burchill.
The Burchills made their debut together in February 2008 before moving to ECW last year. After a feud with Hurricane Helms — who coincidentally, has also been released — the Burchills were forced to leave ECW in a ‘Loser Leaves Town’ match.
The writing was seemingly on the wall when Katie moved to Raw in time for the Divas Championship tournament last month with nary a mention of her brother moving with her.
With two cuts made already, we have to wonder if there may be more on the way including Diva releases. Pray for your fave!

I saw this release coming for a while. Can’t say I’m suprised. I’m happy Katie is still under contract and with the company but, I could see her getting let go as well. Hopefully they don’t release her because she is a great worker. Eaither her or Rosa Mendes I think could go. I would say the rest of the Divas are safe for this year’s “spring cleaning.”
WHY! A good wrestling Brit released :( He really has worked hard and developed and could have been the WWE champ instead of Sheamus and really made a go of it! I hope this doesn’t mean Katie Lea is next. Maybe Rosa, I liked her but she has seem to have worsened over the years.
I think we all saw this release coming, Paul hasn’t been seen in forever. I fear for Katie because she maybe next

I’m not surprised. Wwe are already finding it hard to include the wresters they already have on the raw and smackdown brands in there shows.
Most of the ECW wrestlers are either going to finding there way back to FCW or out of the company all together.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Katie lea is soon to go. She is the ultimate jobber. I know a lot of people think she shares that role with Jillian, but Jillian is at least seen on t.v doing something if shes not set to wrestle, and she also has some kind of character.
Katie lea is kinda just nothing in the wwe at the moment.
I’m not even sure what the current diva storyline is, so i can’t think of what she is going to be doing in the current months.
Paul Burchil is a good example of WWE screwing up. When he played that Pirate character he was very over with the fans, but then they suddenly changed him into a more ‘real’ character and moved him to ECW, where he mostly jobbed. And by the time he got some victories it was already too late, the fans no longer cared. Kinda sad, because he is actually a very good wrestler. The feud with Hurricane was very entertaining.
I’m not surprised if Katie leaves to. She is rarely used, so basicly she only costs WWE money. And with 18 divas on RAW+Smackdown (excluding Savannah and Tiffany), some have to go eventually.

Right, Tyler Reks and Rosa are next. Maybe Charlie Haas and god please get rid of Abraham Washington. As logn as Katie doesn’t go, it’ll be ok. :)

He was only appearing in dark matches and apparently they didn’t find him a valuable asset. Lets hope Katie doesn’t go the same way.
Zephyr5326: Byron Saxton, Abraham Washington & Tiffany moved back to FCW. Rosa and Zack are now part of the RAW roster.
Tyler Reks however will probably go very soon, they have no idea on what to do with him and since he is already in his 30s (really) he isnt really a longterm investment for WWE.
Melanie, Katie has become a “single child” not an “orphan”. :D
With Paul finally out of the way I hope the WWE is smart enough to give Katie the push she deserves. She’s been wasted in the WWE her whole career there.
Because this is a Diva’s site I’ll leave my opinion of Paul out of it. But now that Katie is a single child, the writers can go wherever they want with the character Katie Lea. And that’s a good thing. For whatever reason the writers felt as if they couldn’t separate their sibling storyline, and let them go separate ways. But now they can do whatever they please.
I’m not shocked by Paul Burchill’s release. I was scared when I read the title, I misread it and I thought it said Katie Lea & her on-screen brother, released. lol
eeeeeeeeeeeeeh no Paul one of my fave she wasn’t use right Paul go to TNA or ROH son he has alot of talent aswell as Katie eeeh i pray for Beth,Jillian,Gail,Melina,Katie,Natalya,Serena,Mickie and Alicia the only one si care about
