Mickie James Undergoes Surgery to Treat Staph Infection

In what should explain her recent in-ring absences, Mickie James just broke the news on her Twitter that she underwent surgery on Monday, accompanying her tweets with a picture of wrapped up right leg. PWInsider reports that the cause was a staph infection, which doctors have been working to clear out with this and a previous procedure. According to them, there is no timetable for her return to the ring, though she mentions WrestleMania in one of her tweets, so one can only assume she’ll be in fighting shape in time for a WrestleMania appearance.

The staph infection could have any number of causes, but it is great that doctors detected it and have moved fast to treat it, and Mickie’s optimistic tweets are a good sign as to her condition. Staph infections can be extremely dangerous, as is common knowledge, so it is fantastic that she’s addressed it and is on the road to recovery. We wish Mickie all the best of luck and health!

that leaves no faces on smackdown now, unless you count tiffany. could be a blessing in disguise for any pro-face beth supporters.

anybody know how long she could be out for? i know she mentions wrestlemania, but candice did the same last year and i guess it’s partly wishful thinking on mickie’s behalf. the only other star i know of with staph infection/s in the past is kevin nash, that was his elbow and he was out quite the while. in any case, best of luck and a speedy recovery to her!

Staph infections can be really dangerous. They will have to monitor it carefully. Some athletes have retired because of them. She’s not out of the woods yet. I honestly think Mickie would have to be crazy to try and come back for Wrestlemania. No need to rush back for some stupid diva tag match.

I hope Mickie gets well soon. I like how she is looking on the bright side of her injury, shows that she is a trooper and will pull through.

Oh, this must be why she dropped the Women’s title so suddenly! Wow, I hope she gets better soon, and doesn’t rush back before she’s ready and make the infection worse!

I don’t know what is a staph infection, but I’m worried she won’t be able for Mania. I hope she doesn’t let her love for the wrestling to have more importance than her health. I would prefer that she didn’t go to Wrestlemania and get 100% well, than going to Wrestlemania and re-injure herself.

Aw not my Mickie :( ! Now both of my top 2 favorite Divas r out of the ring. Mickie & Melina! I hope Mickie dosent rush nd try 2 b back for mania. There is no need to rush bak for some silly tag team match or another Ms. Wrestlemania.

Thanks God I still have The Glamazon if she gets injured Im n ot watching WWE unitl one of those 3 return lol. (Mickie , Melina, Beth)

This is good. I agree with justbringit. Considering Wrestlemania’s previous history of laughable Diva matches, I’d much rather have Mickie in good health than to see her risking her well-being just for the sake of some lame excuse of a match. But then again, her absence may affect the possibility of a triple threat between her, Beth and Michelle. But still, her safety is more important than a match–no matter how much of an ideal scenario it may be. There is a difference between being with valor and being completely reckless after all.

That kind of explains everything, Mickie was sick and she still competed in one of the best matches of the year so far. What a trooper.
