Considered one of the best pure wrestlers to ever grace WWE’s women’s division, Molly Holly‘s matches are used as study material for many of the newer girls today. Fans and critics have long expected Molly, real name Nora Greenwald, to one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame — all except the woman herself.
Speaking on Monday Night Mayhem, Molly says:
I could not shine the shoes of those ladies in the Hall Of Fame now (The Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, “Sensational” Sherri Martel, along with Wendi Richter). I don’t ever see myself being in the Hall Of Fame. Although I had a great career, I’m nowhere as talented & amazing as those ladies. I totally respect them, and I’m sure Trish, Lita, Chyna, & other girls did way more for the business than I did will hopefully be in the Hall Of Fame.
Is she just being modest? Self-deprecating? Or does she not know the sheer impact that she has had? Knowing what a grounded, humble woman she is, I think it’s perhaps a combination of the first and third. I really hope that in this instance, Molly is proved wrong. She deserves it just as much as many of the other girls. She was underutilised during her time but WWE does seem to realise what a great talent she is and I think when the time is right, they’ll do the right thing.
Molly also speaks on why she thinks the new all-female promotion, Wrestlicious may just work:
The reason I think it (Wrestlicious) might work is there is so much serious drama on TV, and to have something totally ridiculous just might be a change of pace for people to escape their realities. It would great if it succeeded, and it could be one of those things like G.L.O.W., where there was just this sub-culture that was so drawn to it and was this thing that people talked about for years to come.

:O Molly totally deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Molly will go in. She’s one of the most talented divas they ever had.

She will get in, just like Victoria eventually will. It will just takes some time (maybe even 10+ years). First they will go for Trish & Lita, then maybe Sable. But after that it will probably be Jacqueline, Molly and Victoria’s turn.

They should for sure induct Molly later on. It would be great if she came back before then and got some more titles but still 2x women’s champ and a hardcore champ is great. Plus she had great feuds with Trish, Lita, and Victoria. I see her going in 15-20 years. Sounds like a long time and it is but they can’t induct 35 year olds. That is way too soon imo. Sure Stone Cold was fairly young and some others too but they needed his big name for the ceremony and he did deserve it.

I hope Molly does make it. She was always one of the highlights during her time with the company. She even made Terri seem decent wrestling wise when they were feuding. My fave moment of Molly had to be when she broke the paddle over Trish’s head.

As much as it REALLY pains me to admit it, unless the WWE changes its way of “treasuring” its real talents, I think that it would be hard pressed for her to get in.
It really breaks my heart to say this because I love Molly Holly and I think that she is one of the best female wrestlers ever. She was one of the reasons as to why I fell in love women’s pro-wrestling. However, I think that the WWE tends to lean towards those who were more popular.
Take Lita for example. I like Lita but I don’t think she is anywhere near Molly in terms of in-ring skill. However, I think that the former would have a better chance of getting inducted because she is more memorable to the common pro-wrestling fan.
The followers of women’s wrestling, like us, would understand as to why Molly deserves to get inducted. But the thing is, we are only a small percentage of the entire WWE fan base. And there seems to be a double standard for women when it comes to getting into the Hall of Fame. As they’ve shown, the only few women who got selected were the ones who really really excelled and became more popular than the men. Molly, however, did not reach that level despite being a better wrestler than most of the men. She was so underused, as it was mentioned earlier. And she was not as popular as Lita, Trish or even Stacy Keibler. Apart from her feud with Trish and Lita, I can’t think of other memorable moments of her career that not only women’s pro-wrestling fans could appreciate.
The only way I see her getting inducted is for the WWE to reveal that they used her tapes to train other women. Of course, that might be a bit of a stretch.
However, despite the odds, I DO WANT HER TO GET INDUCTED. It’s just that the WWE hasn’t really given me any reason to believe that that might happen.

We have to be realistic here. How many women do you see getting inducted? Look at the women who made it so far: Moolah, Sherri, Mae, and now Wendi. Moolah was a given. Sherri was involved in feuds with legends like Savage and Warrior. Mae, in my opinion, would have never been inducted if she didn’t become a comic character for WWE in her later years. Wendi is getting inducted for her popularity during the “Rock and Wrestling” period.
This is a hall of FAME, and with all due respect to Molly, she was never really a star for WWE. And don’t give me that stuff about the “common” fan, like that’s a put down. We are all in the same boat. The majority never cared much about her. That’s not to say she doesn’t deserve to be recognized though.
What I would suggest is that somewhere down the road, WWE does a mass induction. They can say it’s some sort of tribute to women’s history month, or something like that. This is how you get in alot of the talented workers that would never make it otherwise. Because as of right now, I can think of only a few women that will have a shot at being inducted on their own.

Heh…she BETTER get in.Screw Trish,Lita,Victoria, and Jazz!If Molly isn’t in,then the Hall of Fame is a joke!Hmph!Ok……no.But I definitely think Molly should be inducted. She’s paved the way for SO many women, and she’s had numerous fantastic matches, namely her match with Victoria at Vengeance.Everyone was into it,and everyone was loving it!

In the world of wrestling (in WWE’s world of wrestling), wrestling skills are not enough to get you inducted into the Hall of Fame. In fact, I think a wrestler’s wrestling ability is last on the checklist.
Oh how comical is that…

i think some of u are taking it too seriously. its seriously not as scientific as people make out. wwe could care less about if you were a better wrestler or more popular. it is literally about who wwe is on good terms with and molly is. shes an alumni on wwe.com, shes been invited to raw 15th anniversary and came back for wrestlemania 25. thats all there is to it to be honest. she stays on good terms with the company and they’ll put her in.

@The Crying Light – You said it right there!

Cool my gravitar works! I agree with justbringit but I still hope that Molly gets in since she is awesome!
March 12, 2010 at 2:43 pm
she should be,divas that stand out from 2000 is lita, trish, victoria, jazz & molly as the ones u remember….plus stacy torrie as the gimmick girls…
March 12, 2010 at 4:27 pm
I hope she does, and I think she will. Yeah, she wasn’t a big star or anything, but a lot of the HOF-ers are there out of respect from management backstage and the McMahons. As I far as I know Molly is easily one of the most respected women’s wrestlers backstage, as both a wrestler and as a person.
And besides, in the not-too-near future I see them decided to induct a lot more female wrestlers. I see it going Elizabeth and Cyndi Lauper, then Trish/Sable/Lita/Chyna/Sunny/Alundra Blayze. About ten or so years later chances are Molly/Ivory/Jacqueline/Victoria/Jazz/Mickie/Melina/Beth will all be considered. Maybe Torrie and Stacy too…Stacy depending on whether or not she becomes a bigger star outside of wrestling.

Oh, and Lilian too, o/c.
March 12, 2010 at 4:28 pm
And Stephanie!

I would love Molly to go in but I can’t see it happening. WWE seem more interested in rewarding popular impactful superstars rather than those who perfected their craft as Molly did.
The most talented women the WWE have ever had in my opinion. She deserves to be honored and I’m glad her, Jazz and Dawn all were honored this week.
