As revealed last week, former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis is crossing over to MMA as a broadcast colleague for HDNet’s ‘King of the Cage’ series.
In a press release sent out today, HDNet has revealed that Kanellis will make her debut as the company’s backstage correspondent during WrestleMania weekend next week at the ‘Legacy’ event on Friday, March 26th.
HDNet CEO, Andrew Simon commented: “Maria is an amazing talent with a devoted fan base and we are excited to have her as part of our MMA broadcast team. Maria loves MMA and is a superstar on LIVE television – the MMA community will welcome the passion she will bring to covering the sport.”
Kanellis commenting on her appointment says: “My mantra is ‘passion is my motivation’ and I am definitely passionate about MMA! I am excited for the opportunity to be part of the HDNet family. I love their commitment to the sport.”
Maria can currently be seen on The Celebrity Apprentice which premiered last night. The show continues Sundays at 9pm on NBC. The first episode drew 8.3 million viewers and a 3.2 share in the adults demo 18-34.
So it looks like Maria will return to her backstage roots which she first took up on Monday Night Raw many years ago and many fans thought she was perfect for. With some more experience under her belt, I expect she’ll do a great job.
