WWE.com has been going all nostalgic on us recently what with their catch-up with Ivory and adding Jazz and Stacy to the Alumni section. The fun times continue with an interview with former Women’s Champion, Molly Holly. Holly, who revealed last week that she doesn’t see herself inducted into the Hall of Fame, spoke to WWE for their ‘Where Are They Now?’ feature; it’s been about five years since Molly left WWE following WrestleMania 21.

Molly speaks on WWE’s original plan for her upon her debut as a Godfather ho:

“In my meeting with Jim Ross, he said a lot of the women start out with The Godfather,” Nora recalled. “I said to him, ‘Oh, sure, whatever works for you guys.’ But I was really hoping I would not be one of The Godfather’s ladies.”

Luckily for Nora, she was not paired with the over-the-top Superstar. Instead, she became Molly Holly, a spunky country bumpkin and cousin to the bickering team of Crash and Hardcore Holly.

“I really enjoyed being a Holly cousin,” Nora said. “Crash went out of his way to build my confidence. If I was nervous about something, he would assure me I could do it.”

Molly also discusses working in the women’s division under her new look as the short-haired brunette which saw her capture the Women’s Title twice:

“Wrestling Lita, Trish and Victoria was such a pleasure,” Greenwald said. “They are all so talented and I knew that whichever one of those girls I was wrestling that the fans would go away happy.”

Speaking on having her head shaved at WrestleMania XX, Molly says:

“They told me that there wasn’t going to be a Women’s Title Match,” Nora remembered. “So I figured I could either start slashing people’s tires or think of a way to get myself on the show.”

  1. I like Molly and I miss her. I wish she could come back to WWE, maybe as an veteran mentor on NXT.

  2. One of the best female wrestler ever. I adore her very very much.

  3. It’s a great interview, and I love that she can poke fun of herself. No need though, because she’s awesome in every way. :P

I really miss her, but she’s doing great things outside of wrestling, so perhaps it’s for the best.

    Can’t wait for Part 2.

  4. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I LOVEEEE Molly Holly! She is the queen of my world! (Ok,……no, that’s Trish). She’s one of the best female wrestlers ever,a nd one of the most misused in ways! She totally deserved that record Trish has! Hmph!

  5. I love how honest she is in this, I always remembered Molly and in her early days just found her boring and didn’t want her around, not even during the romance angle. I guess I was too young to appreciate her talent, especially at an age where Lita was the stand out, due to her high flying style and speed. For me, despite the fact she personally hated it, I loved Molly as a heel, her look was fresh and totally opposite to what we had seen before, she put on some class feuds and was one or the top heel of the Golden era (give or take Victoria who turned a few times) Its just a shame it feels like she’ll be one of those that are never honoured, like Jacqueline, Tori, Ivory and Luna Vachon.

  6. Always great to hear from her! One of the few female wrestlers I truly admire in- and outside of the ring. I always found her interesting and she seems like a normal hometown girl – she was what I look for in female wrestlers: talent, talent, talent. That’s enough! She’s too good for WWE (as it is now) but thank goodness she got to get her shine on during the height of women’s wrestling there! :)
