Proof of her departure, perhaps? TNA has removed Awesome Kong from the roster section of it’s official website some weeks after Kong appeared to note that she was done with the company.
It’s been a tumultuous start to 2010 for Kong, who in January was involved in a physical altercation with Bubba the Love Sponge over comments he had made about the Haiti tragedy. She later requested her release from the company. Last month, Kong filed a lawsuit against Bubba and cell carrier, AT&T over a threatening phone call she had received presumably from the shock jock. And now, this month — on March 1st, came the suspicious message on her Twitter page thanking TNA for wishing her well in her future endeavors.
On the March 8th episode of Impact, TNA ‘stripped’ Kong and her tag team partner, Hamada of the Knockouts Tag Team Championships they had held since January 4th — another indication that she had left.
It looks as though Kong’s two plus year tenure with TNA is over and from all here at Diva Dirt, she’ll truly be missed.

Surprise … surprise? Now Awesome Kong can return to Japan where she will be well used and appreciated by legions of fans. Sure hope she steers clear of the WWE and their misuse of real wrestling talent. Good luck to a very fine wrestler and charming lady who in three meetings with her has proven how great she is.
Some will call this the end of TNA’s knockouts division. To be honest, when someone leaves, that’s what they always say. Heck, people even said that Maria being released from WWE spelled the end.
Just because Kong is gone, doesn’t mean that the end is nigh. We still have SHIMMER, and other companies to see her in. I think that TNA is going to sign more talent in the knockouts division, hopefully soon, and we’ll see what we other talents are out there.
Kong didn’t do anything in a long while, and during her feuds in the knockouts division, she was great. But if Kong wants out, we should respect her decision, and keep faith in the other girls.
aww :(
This is sad news but as CiCi said we shall respect her decision.
I’m trying to find the details of the release. According to some, TNA Wrestling would only agree to release Awesome Kong, if she accepted a long (longer then 90 days) no-compete clause with her release (It is possible that Awesome Kong can not sign with WWE until the remainder of her contract expires). I’m assuming this is to keep her out of WWE. If I am not mistaken, Awesome Kong signed a new three year deal in October 2008.
That’s a damn shame, I was hoping Kong/TNA could sort things out and she wouldn’t have to leave.
Oh well, best wishes to Awesome Kong in whatever she decides to do next, she’s a Knockout legend (imo) and I’ll always remember her for her great work in TNA.
TNA’s loss. Kong doesn’t need them, she’s an international superstar.
TNA should have really done more to accomodate Kong, they obviously ‘sided’ with Bubba the Love Sponge due to his affiliation with Hulk Hogan. Kong was one of the TNA ‘original’ big name stars and it’s a huge loss for them that she has parted ways. Hopefully she winds up in WWE one of these days, I really think if used correctly she could be magnificent in the WWE.
I’m so sorry for her. I wish her the best and she truly is awesome and amazing.
Awesome Kong had to agree to a 120 day (6 month) no compete clause in order for TNA Wrestling to grant her a release.
