New WWE Divas Champion, Eve Torres posted the following on her WWE Universe page just hours after winning the belt:
I am still on a high! This feeling is indescribable. Who would have thought, 3 years ago when I was just interviewing for the WWE Diva Search, that I would hold the WWE Divas Championship in my hands tonight. In some eyes, I may still be considered a rookie to the Divas division, but I have had my eye on the title since I was interviewing champions backstage. Tonight, I realized how far believing in yourself, working hard, training hard, and most importantly, acting with respect and integrity can take you in life. I would not be able to call myself Divas Champion if I hadn’t taken the opportunity to learn from the best. When you respect your teammates, coworkers, teachers, or superiors, which in my case, happens to be other WWE Superstars, and even my opponents, they will respect you… and want to help you succeed. No one gets anywhere in life on their own, and without the guidance of those with more experience than you. But beyond the help and advice of others, I also respected and believed in myself. I knew in my heart that if I worked and trained hard enough, and continued to believe in my own potential, that this opportunity would eventually present itself. And here I stand, Divas Champion!!
And truthfully, I feel that now is only the beginning! The hard work and discipline gets turned up ten notches, because now that I have won the title, I have to keep it! I have to defend it, and bring honor and pride to the WWE Divas Championship every time I do. So the training continues, and the matches and opponents will continue to get harder, but I am definitely up for the challenge. I have a feeling that Maryse may be a little upset ;-) so I am sure the heat will be turned up with every encounter.
It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for Eve and the Divas division. I’m definitely intrigued to see where Raw goes next with Eve firmly in her place as the new top babyface of that brand. Roll on next week to find out!

She deserves her time to shine like all the other divas .. but some deserve it more i think . i’m happy for her but maybe it’s too soon!

I may think there are some divas that deserve it more than her, but I believe Eve will make a great champion. Hopefully the WWE will put faith in her and give her a good rival, with great matches and a great feud.

There are some pros and cons to this.
The pros- Eve is decent in the ring and can put on a good match with the right opponent.
Also, a fighting champion can bring prestige to the belt.
The cons- Ok, this pretty much solidifies the fact that Melina will return as a heel, that is if Eve is still champ by then, which I sure as hell hope not.
Also, Eve is extremely green.
I’m more shocked about this title win than I was about Jillian’s lol. But good on Eve, it was definitely a big swerve to see her win, so I’m loking forward to see where they go with Eve’s reign, but I don’t see anything good happening on RAW in terms of match length until after the whole guest host crap is done with.
aww well I’m glad EVE got it, hopefully she can feud with Alicia fox or Katie lea next, or maybe Jillian will get a shot, i know it’s more likely that gold will rain from the sky then Jillian getting another push but still
I’m extremely glad that Eve won the title after actually seeing the match, it was a beautiful moment and you can tell she speaks the truth – that this is all she wants, She’s certainly no Maria or Stacey who in my opinion used Wrestling to further they’re careers in other aspects. Her reaction was emotional and that’s fabulous to watch – much like Candice’s 07 victory.
I see elements of Candice – and definitely early Trish in Eve, In the six-pack challenge Trish won her first Women’s Championship in – she was the worst wrestler out of the 6, but she suprised us all and look where she is now! I enjoyed her early reign as an underdog, her encounters with Jackie, Lita, Molly & Jazz we’re superb and I’m looking forward to seeing this type of underdog role shine through with Eve, that is providing WWE don’t drop the ball with her like they have so many of they’re divas! x
i’ve warmed to her as champ since last night a bit. there’s nothing wrong with eve really, it’s all wwe’s fault for not pushing her as a credible contender or even giving her time to talk or cut a promo. at least in the gail/maryse feud there were backstage disagreements and whathaveyou.
i think i’ll try to not get too excited over the possibilities this could bring (a feud with jillian, alicia or katie. even a heel melina comeback) until after the draft. for all we know eve could be sent back to smackdown in a couple weeks.
Aaaw. I can’t help but feel guilty for some of my negative comments I have posted about her. Yes, she is greener than green. But judging from what she said here, she is more than willing to learn and grow. Yes, she doesnt have much of a character, at least not since she moved to RAW. But that is not her fault. She has shown some skills on the mic and some charisma when given the chance. The shock of her winning the title has long worn off and a sense off excitment has set in. FINALY we have a new Divas Champion! FINALY we have new blood holding the belt! Hopefuly with that we will have some fresh feuds and some of the Divas that have been held back for so long will now get a chance to shine. It is what it is, people. Either bitch and moan about something that you have no control over or embrace a much needed change in the Divas Division. Congrats, Eve! Always beliEVE!!!
I still don’t like her. I guess I feel bad for her too though since she thinks she earned it and doesn’t know she’ll lose it soon after the draft.
I see your point She-Wolf – people give Trish accolades so much but when she started out she wasn’t great either. I respect the HECK out of Trish more than most others because of how much she progressed! And who knows what people were saying about her back before she became good?!
I’m willing to give someone a chance if they’re about the business and love it and feel it sincerely. I’m obviously not in love with Maryse but at times I find myself wondering if WWE has the shackles on her for some reason. I’m sure she can do more than she does, but I’m starting to get the idea that that’s the kind of heel they’re going for, who does as little as possible and wheedles out a win. But for a fan like me that just don’t cut the mustard. I need more than that.

I just love exclamation points! No botches tonight and check it out, I’m the champ. How did I get here? I first turned it up 10 notches when I appeared as a mutant teenage ninja turtle, eve in the half shell y’all. Then my hardcore dance off/arm wrestling/hardcore fued with Layla. I turned it up 10 more notches to stand in front of cryme tiiiiiime with my signature fist in the air. I would not be able to call myself Divas Champion if I hadn’t taken the opportunity to learn from the best:.Gail Kim & Katie Lea- I learned from their jobbing and Natayla & Serena- I learned a lot buy watching them valet. WWE knows how to best use talent. So dues paid, I am your deserving champion. Opps kayefabing too much, bring it back; hope maryse isn’t to upset. :P Why was the audience dead quiet when I won the title? They popped for kit. Hit my music-

@art1e – NOT true. Maryse did deserve her first title win, IMO anyway. I don’t think Maryse was always bad, I think that on Smackdown when she did her leg sweep, back breaker, etc. she was good/decent then enough to be a champ and people didn’t mind her as champ but since she returned she just hasn’t been the same because they don’t allow her to wrestle in her matches. I personally feel like Maryse did deserve her first title win, her second…ehh. :/ I think if Maryse goes back to SD or doing seven minute matches we would see a different Maryse than we do in barely four minute matches.
Not too crazy about Eve winning, and I completely agree that there are a lot of other people who deserve it more than her IMO. But I won’t rain on her parade. :p
I am still unconvinced about Eve as champion. But lets just see how the next few weeks go. I think if Eve trained more and didnt botch as much. No one would be this upset about Eve being champion. But nontheless, congrats Eve.
i feel as if it was rushed i would have at least have a match at extreme rules bt now what will maryse do without the title cause cause since she got it sh hasnt been far from getting it bac..will i guess the maryse and miz storyline is coming bt CONGRATS EVE ^-^ though u need to prove your self
@xkellykiller Couldn’t have said it better myself. Anyone who says Maryse isn’t good hasn’t seen her from when she was on SD. She totally deserved her first title & she actually wrestled in every match she had. I hope they send her back to SD in the draft, where they actually know what to do with the divas. (Okay, maybe not so much anymore, but they’re still better than Raw!)
Eve is pretty bland to me. And she was rushed through training & botches the little, simple moves, which really bothers me. I hope she steps it up & stops trying to be flashy.
i think eve will do good as champ … i mean look at trish stratus when she won her first Women’s championship she wasnt much better (if at all) than eve her finisher was a bulldog she grew into a pretty good worker and the most decorated wwe diva ever.. u just gotta give Eve a chance im pretty sure that when trish first won there were people saying the same about her. if they actually book eve properly she has the potential to be a big star in the divas division

Michelle Better Not Come To Raw and Take The Title From Her I Dont Like Michelle As Champion Shes Borinqq and Lets Just Hope Eve Defends The Belt Correctly.
It does seem rushed but I don’t begrudge Eve her title run – as long as she continues to train and incorporates more of her brazillian-type style into her wrestling (the name of what discipline escapes me, d’oh). I hope this isn’t the summit of her career. She is good, she can do the flashy but the roll up was unique and well performed. If she has a solid foundation in the basics, she could become quite good.
If it was the women’s championship, then I’d be a lot angrier. That title actually has a history and a prestege to it. Divas Champ is kinda second tier IMO. But I hope she enjoys her moment & doesn’t rest on her laurels.
It’s the Divas title. Eve holding it is not any worse than Maryse. And I don’t think it really MATTERS given that Maryse simply isn’t going to go away. They’ll probably still feature her in some way every week and allow Alicia Fox, Jillian, Katie Lea and Co. to sit on the self. What’s to complain about? She’s still going to get the spotlight seeing as apparently WWE (incorrectly) assumes that ALL WWE fans want to see her. They’re treating all the titles, men’s and women’s like they’re not worth much these days. :( I wouldn’t care if my favorite didn’t get it either, even if the person holding it is not an actual wrestler, but they better sure as heck show them on television every week! That’s WWE and it is what it is. If they knew how to build awesome feuds that didn’t have anything to do with trying to get the title (albeit that’s what they’re there for) AT FIRST, then there might be longer reigns. Some of my favorite feuds had nothing to do with a title.

Lady Sheamus, it was mentioned in her “Divas” video but even after listening several times I can’t make it out. I went to wiki and it just says she knows Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has a blue belt from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Torrance, California. It seems to be where her armbar off the top rope submission came from. If so, there might be more moves she can incorporate into her wrestling, which would be awesome.
By the by, nice moniker. I love to hear Sheamus (and Drew McIntyre for that matter) talk – accents are SO sexy. :D
