Upon flicking through some of the photos on WWE.com from the current European tour, the above photo stood out to me. Inititally because it was one of the first pictures of Eve Torres as Divas Champ since winning on Monday night, but then I looked around and noticed the spectacle surrounding Eve.
Looks like WWE is pulling out all the stops for the new Divas Champion, and I guess being highly regarded by management helps a little. I wonder if they’ll begin incorporating it into TV on Monday night? I look forward to seeing it in motion.
Rarely have the Divas been afforded such grandeur in their entrances, the only Divas I can recall getting pyro regularly are Ashley Massaro near the end of her run and Chyna.
EDIT: According to a few commenters, it’s not unusual for the Divas to have pyro in their entrances during house show loops. Luke says: “Divas like Candice Michelle, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James have had pyro like this in the past at house shows.”

it’ll be weird since wwe doesnt even bother wit raw divas so it’ll flash pyro then less then one minute match i dont see the point…
Cool. The only other Diva with a really elaborate entrance is Melina. Hopefully WWE will see that an entrance is important in getting the crowd into the match. At least it will get peoples attention, as Eve usually comes out to mostly silence.
What a stupid decision. Eve garners No reaction cause she has No personality.

Guess we will just have to wait untill Raw to find out for sure, but I know in the past Divas like Candice Michelle, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James have had pyro’s like this in the past at house shows. Its really wierd thinking that only two Divas have ever really had a pyro, however I think they suited both Ashley and Chyna.

the only female wrestler i can think of right now that has Pyro in her entrance is ODB
^^^ Not very fair to say that Eve has no personality. She was a hit on SmackDown. The trouble came when she was drafted to RAW. She was given zero mic time, hardly any ring time and, besides being dragged around by that Neandathal Chris Masters, wasnt given much to do. Just give her a chance to develop her character and she will go far. In fact that is what ALL the Divas need.

Tell ‘em RedHotVixen! The woman herself has personality – the character she portrays has thus far been stifled of it on RAW. One might be too naive to hope for a change but who knows. She has drive and passion and as she said, her hard work paid off. Good for her!

Anyway, I think the lighting from the pyro makes Eve’s attire look so damn good, and I usually REALLY don’t like it.
I hope these means Eve will have more of a BANG in matches.

Wasn’t that her first show as champion? That could explain the pyro too. Well, I hope she keeps it because she needs SOMETHING to make her feel like a big deal. I know people in the company are high on her and her fans are die hards, but I just don’t get it.
It’s actually not just a house show thing, but an international house show thing. Lots of talent get pyro on those shows.
it seems a bit weird to me to have pyro for divas on houseshows but not on tv. surely it’s not very cost effective either?
unfortunately eve is still rather unknown to the casual viewers, which is wwe’s fault of course, perhaps having pyro will get her noticed a bit more now, even if it isn’t on tv?
it is really disappointing as said above that there’s only been a few women on tv to actually get some.

not 100% sure, but from what i’ve seen, since eve became champion they changed the match to eve vs maryse, with kelly as special referee. eve getting the wins, of courrse.
Tried to find some, however it proved rather difficult. I know ive seen more than this, im just not sure where hahaha

Anyway, I liked Chyna’s bazooka and Ashley’s entrance was really cool! I think it would be cool to save pyro for special occasions, too, if it wasn’t a regular thing. :)

Well before Eve won the championship, Maryse was winning those matches because she was the champion but now that Eve is the champ, it has been relegated to Maryse vs. Eve with Kelly as the Referee
@ Embich- There is a difference between being blunt and respectfully disagreeing with others. Eve was more than a quiet chearleader on SD. If WWE didnt see the potential in her, they wouldnt have given her this kind of push. Sorry for going off topic, but I feel that some people just need to have respect for others.
I honestly hope she does get a pyro because it might get the fans a little more excited for divas matches. I loved Ashley’s pyro so I hope Eve gets one.
Anyway, I hope that they keep Eve’s pyro. Her entrance always seemed to be missing something. Her pose at the top of the ramp was always so… blah. But the pyro makes her look stunning.
I hope that Eve gets to use this on TV because she gets absolutely NO reaction from the crowd despite she is suppose to be a babyface. with the pyros, it might actually hype the crowd because otherwise Eve is just a really bland, boring, generic babyface with no crowd reaction.
I think it has to do with the entrance duration wether a diva gets pyro or not. On a show like RAW the divas come out and go straight to the ring due to the short time allocated to them. On house shows you have much more time to do stuff like that.
@ Mikas- Good point. Not really fair, though. They give plenty of time to Botchtisa and Robo Orton. Why does WWE insist on putting fans through those kind of coma inducing snooze-fests when the Divas are in need of some REAL attention.

The answer is very simple…because thats what the fans want. It’s hard to believe for a diva fan, or someone who doesnt care about WWE (tna, roh, indy fans). But fact is, the fans WWE is aiming for WANT to see Cena, Batista, Orton, Hornswoggle, DX etc. If the divas would draw big ratings, sell ppv buys, or make the WWE money through merchandise, WWE will immediatly give them more time to shine. But like Jim Ross said, the divas are only “supporting roles”…
I hope Eve does get this promo, it would look nice with her entrance and it would also push the fact she is champion because she would have something other divas do not have and this highlights her importance. Also if they are looking to push her why not give her some pyro, i hope they do…..we will see on raw :)
They did this to Michelle too in her last tour of Mexico in October. She came out with pyro similar to Kurt Angle’s old WWE fireworks.
Im not really big on giving some of the divas Pyro…b cuz 9 outta 10 someone mite end up getting hurt….but The Pyro does look good with Eve doing that pose.
I think Michelle , Mickie , Gail , & Melina would b nice to have pyros…
this could be a good thing if they kept the pyro for eve especially if they plan on continuing the eve vs. maryse feud after the draft. they could have eve debut her new pyro entrance and have maryse pissed that she doesnt get pyro (it could really work for any of heel diva) i could really see it working with katie lea or jillian

Kelly had similar pyro at the Liverpool show on Sunday, I’d say its just a houseshow thing. Pyro with her theme = blah.
Well I have mixed feelings because I like the idea of Divas getting pyros (the popular ones anyway) but Eve potentially getting one.. it makes me shrug.
Why don’t they give Nikki Bella a pyro? Or Tiffany? I think Eve is on their level in terms of popularity.. Actually I think the Bellas have more fans than Eve.

to everyone that wonders if the length of the entrance determines who gets a pyro, negative on that one. It’s purely a management decision. Pyro is expensive so even a big corporation like WWE can’t afford to give everyone pyro, Logistically it also doesn’t make sense. Picture the chaos and smoke filled arenas if everyone came out to loud pyro. A wrestler usually gets pyro one of 3 ways, management, it fits the character, or they’ve gotten over with the fans either as face or heel and earned the right to have pyro.
Eve Was Popular But Now Tht She Is Champion Shes Startinq Too Be Hated On Like Maryse. Most Of Time Pyro’s Are Used At WrestleMania and The Begininnq Of RAW, No Other Diva Deserves A Pyro Because It Just Wouldnt Go WIth There Entrance.

Fire pyro would work perfectly for Katie Lea. If they ever decide to give her a push, having flames pyro for her would work well. The flames pyro could be used when she does her pose on the stage.

Though Divas get “pushes” (and given their minimized role a Diva-push is…) it seems that Vinnie Mac doesn’t have confidence in the Divas that he (seemed to) have in the past. He is getting the fans used to the idea of women’s matches being so short so that whenever they are nobody is surprised. Women’s wrestling fans don’t like it but it’s apparent that our numbers are few compared to the majority.
@Lady Sheamus It probably wouldn’t be too expensive since they already have the flames pyro out there for the Undertaker. Undertaker has the flames constantly going off during his entrance. Katie could have just one big flames burst while she’s posing.
ATTENTION: I sent Melanie an email saying that i read at wrestlenewz.com that the wwe are changing the divas a bit, there are going to focus on Giving them more screen time and developing the divas characters a bit more.
I hope this is legit because its about time that they did something and this could be good for 2 specific reasons:
1. Because they might be getting more ringtime than they might let Eve come to ring with the Pyro
2. To build up Eve’s character to get the fans behinds
I believe that is the reason for Eve’s title win, because they are trying to develop her character with some more intense feuds
But Undertaker is Undertaker, you know? :P My point being that given the current climate for Divas WWE’d not have a problem “doing it big” for the men but might think it excessive/unnecessary for the women (which is unfortunate). That being said, there’s a lot whose entrances I’d love to see upgraded (or at least not rushed). And I hope it really is true that they’re going to improve the Divas division.

I think that giving Eve a pyro is a start to making her stand out more. Other divas who pyro would be great for:
Beth Phoenix- her last name means firebird… C’MON WWE! Give Beth a curtain of flames while she is hitting her pose on the ramp.
Maryse- her entrance music has a pause at the beginning (right before the first “Pourquoi”) that could be lengthened to have her hit a “look at my sexiness” pose-complete with showers of pyro-before hitting her “talk to the hands” pose (which would be timed with the end of the pyro and the beginning of the singing).
Gail- While doing her “I’m number one” pose on the ramp she could get a machine gun like pyro salute
Mickie- all her bouncing and stuff could be highlighted with glittery explosions.
Simply Flawless- while showing off Layla’s latest sweatshop creations, some pyro from the sides.
i agree with most of those except the simply flawless one if they did get some they should have the curtain of like gold falling like golddust used to during his shattered dreams gimmick
