In a big shocker, The Beautiful People’s Madison Rayne was just crowned the Knockouts Championship moments ago at TNA’s LockDown pay per view. Rayne, who is also one half of the Knockouts Tag Team Champions with Velvet Sky, pinned Tara in a tag team match with all the gold on the line.

The finish came as Lacey Von Erich interfered from the outside, clocking Tara with one of the tag belts allowing Rayne to roll her up for the win. Under the rules of the bout, either Rayne or Sky could become the Knockouts Champion by pinning either Love or Tara.

The move is extremely surprising considering that Rayne has spent much of her time in TNA putting over other talents, with few wins of her own. At just 24 years old, she now shoots to the top of the Knockouts division.

Coincidentally, WWE also made a shocking title switch this week of their own — putting the Divas Championship on Eve Torres last Monday. It seems that both companies are giving the ball to the younger talents.

Rayne is unarguably the best worker among The Beautiful People and has worked extremely hard over the past year to establish herself in TNA. Congratulations to her!

she’s also the first knockout to hold both the tag and singles belts at once! awesome accolade for her. huge fan and maybe now she’ll get some wins in. would love to see her breakout on her own, preferably as a face, further down the line. this could be quite the stepping stone of sorts.

  2. She’s also the first to hold both the knockouts tag title and the knockout’s title simultaneously.

  3. Ugh, Kaledrina you beat me to it.
Congrats to Her and sorry for double posting.

This is amazing, no matter how random. Madison has worked her ass off since Angelina left to make The Beautiful People not get destroyed, by basically becoming the in ring worker of the trio. The tag title was nice, but after checking her out in shimmer, and seeing what all she can actually do, it was time she got rewarded alone for all of her hard work. I really thought it was over after the Widows Peak, but this really made my day because she has been through indies, to finally coming to TNA, but not getting many wins (like a Jillian, Katie, etc.) and now finally making history by being the first woman to hold both titles at one time.

Congrats to Madison, hard work and kindness really does pay off and I hope you get a lengthy reign. Even if you don’t, at least you finally get rewarded in some way. =]

Im glad shes champion rather than lacey and velvet but too bad angelina had one of the worstest knockout reigns ever but im shocked looks like wwe and tna are going to start using the younger talent.

  6. I thought I’d be upset but I’m indifferent, I noticed Lacey was holing one of the tag belts so that’s good news I guess :D hopefully she replaced Madison as one of the main tag team champions.

Wow. What a crazy week for surprising title changes.
Congrats to Madison, she really has worked hard. Gotta feel bad for Angelina though she hasn’t really had a decent run with the title yet.
I hope Madison keeps the title for a while because its changed hands too much in the past year in my opinion and lost a little of its prestige in the process.

ya know, i just hope her reign lasts longer than a day! i’m probably being a good old scaredy cat, but i do fear tna taking the belt off her at tomorrow’s live impact!

  9. I’m betting RKOyou is very happy right about now :)

I’m happy that they have finally given her a break after all the times shes had to be pinned.
I hope she holds it longer than the last two champions.

but i rather see angelina make history instead of rayne, angelina becoming first to hold both the champions at the same times should of been her line.

I wonder if any/how much fan backlash there will be for this. None from me though. Congrats to Miss Madison.

I dont think there will be much fan backlash because basically all of us know how hard she has worked, even just in TNA, with having to basically carry the beautiful people on her back in terms of in ring skills. It’s nice to see people work hard and get rewarded for that.

When you have Hamada and Sarita in TNA they give the title to Madison. In the word of The Miz “Really”??

I’m all for the young getting a chance, but come on Madison.

  14. “I’m all for the young getting a chance, but come on Madison.”

Wow because of this quote I googled her age, turns out she’s only 24 :S I thought she was in her mid-to-late 30s. :S

    I’m trying to be positive.

Madison have work very hard in TNA and Shimmer. Compare to the other TBP members she do have better wrestle skills. I’m happy that someone in TNA open their eyes and saw Madison talent. I’m happy for her, but I hope someone open their eyes and give Hamada a chance as well.

it’s really odd how the majority are positive about the rayne title reign, yet with the eve situation on raw, most felt pretty bad about it.

so is tara heel or neutral i cant tell after what i saw on lockdown i say she is neutral.

  18. @evan

lol you didn’t have to spend time googleing her age becauses it was written in news story :p

  19. She is the hardest worker of the knockouts, so from that point of view she kinda deserves some recognition. But on the other hand, she isnt really build up as a champion, everyone knows her as the girl that always looses, even Velvet has a better track record in victories. But i’m happy for her, and i really hope she doesnt loose the title too soon, and more importantly that they will try to build her up as a true champion.

  20. “so is tara heel or neutral i cant tell after what i saw on lockdown i say she is neutral.”

She had the same facial expressions as during her psycho days.

personally i’m happy for madison mabye she could break away from velvet and lacey and become more of a singles competitor mabye she coul feud with sarita, taylor, or hamada who knows

This is very strange as PWI had in their write up about The Beautiful People in the Grading Scale Issue that they would like to see Madison as TNA Knockouts Champion with Velvet and Lacey as Knockouts Tag Champions. Very odd or coincidental…Hmmmm

Yeah Kaledrina, that’s why I made my comment, I had Eve in mind. With Eve, all I’ve been hearing is “what about Jillian? Gail? Nattie?” and here we’re already getting “what about Hamada?”. I wonder if there’s a contradiction is supprting one title reign and not the other.

  24. charlierogue26

But I am very happy for Madison! I like her alot and hope she is allowed to grow into a character…however I Don’t want her to be a Baby Face. She works Baby Face very well, but I want to see her develop her Heel persona better. But I am indeed happy for her. :)

(I just wanted to make that clear…my last post sounds a little to conspiracy theory. Lol ;))

But I hate that the divison is focus around TBP.
