For all the crappy booking we’ve been forced to watch on TNA as of late, this past Sunday’s Lockdown was a refreshing treat. The cage match between The Beautiful People and Angelina and Tara signaled the end of some old angles and the beginning of some fresh ones. We were privy to a Tara turn, a brand new Knockouts Champion, and the culmination of the Beautiful People who have now reached their highest peak. The thought of a face Angelina and pyscho Tara feud was salivating to say the least and the announcement of a Knockouts Tag Team Championship match for Impact with the stipulation that Daffney would have a mystery partner led to plenty of afternoon speculation of just who that could be. Impact looked promising and the Knockouts seemed to be floating leisurely up, up, up.

Then Impact aired and what we got was a horribly short, stupidly booked match that made little if any sense. An injured competitor made her return and it went unnoticed because she wasn’t given a ring entrance. Angelina and Tara were left off the show which lead to much shaking of the head. How can you have such a dramatic angle the night before and not have it picked up or even mentioned on the next show? We got to watch Lacey Von Erich wrestle instead of Madison Rayne, who’s Knockouts Championship win wasn’t given the proper respect. Then we had to watch a big, powerful woman go down to an aerosol can of spray and get pinned for her team. There wasn’t really anything good about Impact. There wasn’t anything bad, either. It was all ugly considering everything that could have been done.

As I stated earlier, Daffney and ODB weren’t given entrances. This random ass pairing is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. It’s great that they decided to use someone different, but to pair her with Daffney? These two have nothing in common and to my knowledge, no previous interaction with one another. Maybe TNA were going for the comedy effect by making these two oddballs a team but it simply didn’t work. They were already in the ring as the pre-match glitz came to fruition which made it even more strange because TNA went out of their way to promote this match as something that could potentially be interesting. Whatever, right?

As the Beautiful People come to the ring it’s clear that the new Knockouts Champion isn’t going to be wrestling tonight. Madison is dressed in a little black dress with strappy wedge sandals. Despite all this, the ring announcer says she is going to be in the match anyway, while Lacey is the one at ringside. Madison didn’t even try to hide the can of what we’re going to call hairspray for the sake of this recap. I mean you can just see it and tell she is going to use it and that’s how the match is going to end. After TBP did their thing, Daffney and Lacey are two who decide to start the match off. It takes all of two seconds for Lacey to change her mind about that and she tags out to Velvet Sky before the match even properly begins.

Velvet comes in screaming and goes straight for Daffney, but Zombie Hot takes her down with a drop toe hold that leaves Velvet grabbing at her nose for the second night in a row. Daffney is a quick worker and grabs Velvet in a headlock, using that so she can drive her knee right in Velvet’s gut. Velvet’s face then gets slammed on Daffney’s knee and she’s already on her back seventeen seconds into this match. Instead of going for the pin, Daffney elects to pick on Lacey and chases her around the ring. LVE slides into the ring with Daffney on her heels, but Velvet is ready. She unleashes her fists of fury on Daff, and throws her into the turnbuckle. The announcing is making me cringe at this point because Mike Tenay has decided to remind us all that Daffney picked stripping out of the Lockbox and LVE stole her thunder on that night.

Call me crazy, but something tells me Daffney really doesn’t mind that Lacey came out to the ring and started dancing around in lingerie that night.

But anyway, Daffney is now in the corner of the Beautiful People and Velvet makes the tag to Lacey. Lacey seems happy to get into the match now because Velvet just chunks Daffney down in the middle of the ring. She does a fancy little back-handspring, but since this is wrestling and I like Lacey, I’m going to say she did a standing moonsault. After LVE’s standing moonsault she drops an elbow, which is becoming her trademark move. Lacey prances and poses, happy with herself and life in general, but her smile quickly turns to a look of sheer terror when Daffney puts a death grip on her wrist. Needless to say, our perky blonde tags out to her angry, devil blond partner. Velvet kicks Daffney away from our girl Lacey (thank God!) and starts treating Daffney the same way she treated Tara last night which isn’t very nice. Daffney has her throat stepped on and her back slammed into the mat a few times, and Velvet is all smiles because at this point she feels like the queen of the TNA world. Velvet goes for a cover, but Daffney kicks out after two which makes Queen Vel Vel scream in anger.

For some ungodly reason, Velvet gets the bright idea to strut across the ring after viciously clubbing Daffney in the back and climb to the middle rope. She shakes her butt a bit before jumping off but Daffney greets her with a shot to the midsection. Velvet crumples over in pain and Daffney decides it’s time to make the hot tag to ODB. Velvet doesn’t want that to happen so in her distressed state she grabs a hold of Daffney’s ankle and tries to keep her from getting to the corner. Well to make a long story short, Velvet fails, Daff makes the hot tag to ODB, and the formerly MIA Knockout starts making Velvet her woman. She eventually tosses Velvet into the corner and absolutely crushes her with a huge splash. A woozy Velvet stumbles into ODB’s clutches, gets squashed thanks to a super fantastic slam from ODB, and the popular ODB leaps to her feet a la Shawn Michaels before he got super old.

A worried Madison Rayne jumps up on the apron and starts flirting with the referee. She just wants to get Velvet out of trouble, I suppose. It doesn’t really help because ODB has gotten Velvet with a roll-up. What does help is the fact that Lacey has disposed of Daffney on the outside and has taken that can of hair spray. ODB moves away from Velvet and goes to bitch at Lacey, but Lacey sprays her in the eyes which leaves the powerful woman blind. Velvet rolls up ODB and Madison jumps off the apron. The referee turns around and counts the 1, 2, 3 because ODB is in such distress she just can’t get her shoulder an inch off the ground in time. The Beautiful People have retain their Knockouts Tag Team Championships in a titillating three minute match.

Brilliant.

There’s really no need for me to launch into what was good, bad, and ugly because as I already stated, there wasn’t anything good or bad. I don’t want to be typecast as this week’s negative Nancy, but really. There just wasn’t a whole lot going on for the Knockouts tonight. I suppose I can indulge you all and try and pick out some positives but don’t expect very much. The Beautiful People looked amazing. I found Lacey’s ring attire to be questionable, but it’s Lacey. Who are we to judge her? She’s just smiley and happy, and glad to be out there so I’ll put my fashion police badge aside and give her this week’s free pass. I already said I loved Velvet’s outfit. It’s the same one she wore last night and it really pops in HD. Madison looked adorable and lets face it, it’s hard to go wrong with a little black dress unless you’re a WWE Diva. I’m not going to arrest Daffney or ODB either. They wore what they usually wear and it works for their characters. I enjoy any time I get to see Daffney on my television and welcome back to ODB. I wish TNA would give her more of a purpose seeing as how she is a former two-time Knockouts Champion, but that’s asking to much.

I’m really horrified by the lack of Tara and Angelina tonight. Something should have been said about that altercation they had at the end of their match at Lockdown. It made no sense to just forget about that and I’m actually glad Impact tapes tonight for next week so we can see if anything progresses from that. Overall, it was a crappy night for the Knockouts. They got the short end of the stick again and it just goes to show that you can’t look to far ahead when it comes to TNA. I’ll tip my Diet Coke with Lime in the air and toast to the Knockouts in hopes of a better week next week, and I encourage all of you Knockout fans and readers to do the same.

  1. WTF WAS THAT SHIT.

    2/10

Lacey’s move was ok, but the back flip at first did nothing because she landed on her feet and so if she dropped straight away then YEAH it could have hurt.

    GOD DAMN IT TNA!

Use Hamada, PEOPLE Hamada and Sarita are BLATENTLY the top 2 females in TNA, Hamada should be KO’s Champion and Sarita and Taylor should get them titles back.

TBP have been getting thrashed for MONTHS in tag and singles, and now they’re winning?

TNA is becoming WWE, they are letting people JOB but to absolute SHIT Knockouts.
TNA Knockouts Division is becoming worse than WWE, just get your fricken TALENT IN THE FRICKEN RING FFS!

  2. I really just give up on logic in TNA. Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago that Daffney faced ODB and went crazy on her with a toolbox or whatever she did? Now they are teaming? Okayy.

Whenever TNA does Impact live they crap all over the knockouts. Where was Tara and Angelina? Not even an angry interview from Angelina or a reasoning from Tara. Stupid.

I still adore Vel Vel and LVE though.

  3. On the plus side, Madison looked AMAZING.

  4. I remember watching this last night and turning my gaze from the TV for two seconds after ODB pinned Velvet and it was over.

It was a pitiful match to say the least. If they wanted to bring ODB back, then why on earth did we NOT see her entrance? That would have made up for the lack of Knockouts on the show, but I guess TNA doesn’t see it that way.

I still don’t get why they blatantly left out Angelina and Tara. I was really hoping to see some kind of work between the two after what happened at Lockdown, but I guess well TNA has other plans. Hopefully next week they get their chance, because right now that looks like it could be quite the feud.

  5. That match was incredicbly.. wait for it.. RUBBISH!
there was no point, they build up the daffney partner thing before TNA went on air, then we fount out it was the-granny-pants-herself.. ODB
i think they should of had Tara then angelina costs her the match, that would of made more sence.

Another point, i think that its good that Lacey is madisons replacement in the tag matches now as we’ll get to see if lacey has been improving.

Madison should of got atleast a title celebration at the start then have daffney & ODB enter the arena.

The only reason that they got a short match b’cos of the jeff/RVD-RVD/AJ & the hogan/flair rematch from last night, that took up most of TNA.

Last point, did anyone see the Brooke Adams ‘Miss Techmasher’ segment, they are playing her off as a air-head-sexy secutary “is it in the green thingy or the brown thingy”.

I just pray that TNA get a better week next week & i think they would.
Maybe have Madison vs Tara or Angelina for the KO’s title then have the one that didnt compete, cost the other one the match.

  6. Nessalina – You’re completely right about ODB and Daffney. That just shows how short my attention span. I can’t believe I totally forgot Daffney destroyed her. Makes this whole match much, much worse. lol

  7. Great write up Cryssi (:

I am not sure what to say about TNA this week. Daffney and ODB as partners makes no sense what so ever. Not only that but where was Tara and Angelina Love? It would have made more sense to have them teaming up against the beautiful people instead of Daffney and ODB. And don’t get me wrong. I love Daffney. But how does she fit into what has been going on? Totally random and weird and odd. Hopefully next week is better…

  8. Last night’s match was a waste, storyline wise. Have to wonder about ODB’s future too.

The Lockdown match wasn’t even the right one. Common sense says it should have been a singles match between Angelina and Velvet. Instead we get booking that starts leading to one angle while another is just left in the air.

I’m not surprised Tara vs Love wasn’t shown. When they didn’t give Angelina any mic time on the night of her return, they pretty much gave away that they don’t understand the concept of momentum in booking.

  9. That match wasn’t the best. I just don’t know what’s happening with the knockouts.

  10. I take it O.D.B’s return went unnoticed the first time around by the Diva-Dirt staff? She actually returned two weeks ago in the “Knockout Lockbox Showdown” in a losing effort to Velvet Sky for one of the four keys. I’ve said it before – and I’ll say it again, the fact Lacey Von Erich is considered a co-holder of a championship, let alone a champion period in TNA speaks volumes of the depths the Knockouts division has sank to and with the way things are looking by Sarita and Taylor Wilde being left off of TV for this long it looks like the Knockouts will shortly soon just consist of the girls that are apart of the opening video (Tara, Angelina, The Beautiful People, and Daffney) which has already proved its wear over the past a couple of months in storylines and feuds. I don’t know if this division can make a repair from the departure of Awesome Kong and the devolvement of the singles title over the course of 2010.

  11. I didn’t think it was that bad.. The only thing I didn’t like was 1:10, it would’ve been so much better if it were Lacey and Velvet.. Oh Well.

  12. This whole segment was awful! First of all, having Mike Tenay simply tell the TV viewers that ODB was Daffney’s tag partner…there was no actual suspense of who Daffney’s tag partner would be, if you get what I mean.
Plus, the ring announcer (who surprisingly is never seen) announces that it’s Madison & Velvet competing, accompanied by Lacey, but it’s really Lacey & Velvet competing…who, let’s face it are the 2 worst wrestlers out of all of TBP members, past and present.
I hated the extremely terribly botched Moolah Whip @2:14! Even the worst of Divas can pull that off e.g. The Bellas & Rosa!
Similarly, the ultra-fake looking thesz press punches @3:28 on Velvet. Come on! Torrie Wilson could pull that off, and Velvet is supposedly a “wrestler”, unlike Torrie who was primarily classed as a “Valet” for most of her career.
@4:08, Daffney could’ve made the save, but there was a whole lot of miscommunication going on at the finish. Worst of all, Velvet’s selling after the match, trying to look exhausted, when this was only a very short match!
Are we meant to believe that Daffney & ODB are now faces? And why would they team up anyways, if Daffney literally destroyed ODB a few weeks back?
At least RAW makes sense…that’s all I’m sayin’.

  13. Daffney and ODB teaming together? That does not make any sense. I’m really disappointed. After I read that Daffney has a mystery partner most of us were thinking that it would be Tara, two psychos on one site…but it was ODB who already had her comeback. They didn’t even get an entrance. WTF is going on? And where were Tara and Angelina? Knockouts Division is going down down down down…doooooown doooooown.

  14. Well guys, you just saw what Bischoff thinks of the ko division, ODB went from 3 times champ in January to jobber in 3 months, ouch.

Bring back Russo, at least with him, the KO were getting more tv time than they did last night.

  15. Where are Taylor Wilde and Sarita??? Where!!!! I’m getting sick of the TBP (not Madison tho) and Velvet Sky’s yelling gets on my nerves!!!

BRING BACK TAYLOR WILDE & SARITA!!!!!!!!

I miss them and how the knockouts used to be :(

  16. Bischoff is so disrespectful especially to Jim Cornette, who served TNA so fricken’ well.

TNA is going to the dogs now Flair, Bischoff and Hogan are in TNA, they’re ruining the company.

HOW THE HELL does Dixie Carter know that one of them is not backstabbing and trying to make it flop?

I wish Gail Kim would have stayed, but now… NO WAY.

TNA lost it when Gail left, and once Kong went.. then it was over.

I mean Hamada and Sarita would rather wrestle for other promotions and tour in Japan etc

  17. “Bring back Russo, at least with him, the KO were getting more tv time than they did last night.”

Russo still writes the shows, Bischoff naturally decides who gets the pushes, who carries the titles etc, or which wrestlers are disposable. But overall Russo’s fingerprints are still on the matches, thats why we rarely see clean finishes in TNA anymore. It’s like WCW, 90% dqs, no contests, swerves, stipulations and gimmicks, etc…

  18. From the reports of the dirt sheets, he is taking time off, he wasnt backstage on Sunday, and he wasnt backstage/didnt appear during RVD celebration.

Bischoff is booking the show now.

  19. Well last night, besides the KO match, the rest of the matches had clean finishes

  20. I really think Dixie Carter should attend the next Shimmer tapings to see what two/four women can do in the ring besides looking like complete dingbats. I cant believe they released a veteran like Jacqueline who could have been an awesome trainer/advisor to the Knockouts. After watching that travesty last night I had to go and put my Shimmer Vol 26 in my DVD player and watch the Awesome Kong/Sara Del Rey vs Mercedes Martinez/Serena Deeb match to put my faith back in female athletes again.

  21. I don’t get it how does a division go from being epic and flawless to being an embarrassment in just a year???

The Beutiful People are what holding the knockouts back (they’re not knockout material) and what has It been the same 6 women since January getting tv time??? (Tara, Angelina, Daffney, TBP)

  22. just ugh. i shouldn’t joke about it, but tna’s gonna have me on anti-depressants by the end of the year or something. like, putting it against raw’s divas, yeah, the knockouts division is amazingly booked, but the kos division of today vs the kos of even six months ago? damn. where did it all go wrong?? they started going downhill before hogan and company came sauntering in, it just seems to have gotten worse. pre-taped shows do seem to be better for them in general, so i guess i’ll have to wait for those pesky spoilers tonight.

i guess last night was only good for one thing: confirming the freebird rules. the bad thing is lacey being a champion. poor, poor daffney lol.

  23. “The Beutiful People are what holding the knockouts back (they’re not knockout material) and what has It been the same 6 women since January getting tv time??? (Tara, Angelina, Daffney, TBP)”

agreed! i love me some beautiful people, but they’re soo much better sticking with the backstage promos and being a side attraction of sorts. i actually don’t really care for a big feud right now. i remember the days of old where they’d stick two randoms in the ring and that was fine without any backstory. give us a six minute hamada vs sarita match or something and i’ll be happy.

and yeah.. i think odb, saritaylor and hamada have only been on tv 3 times each since the new year. :(

  24. I miss those three (Hamada Sarita and Taylor) Lol I would kill to see them in a triple threat match to become #1 contender for Madisons knockouts title.

  25. “Well last night, besides the KO match, the rest of the matches had clean finishes”

Well, if its true that Russo is sitting at home (probably thanks to Cornette’s comments), that would kinda explain it. With Russo booking it, all matches would had swerves in the finish ;-)

  26. So those who think the Knockouts division is a hot mess right now say “YAH!”

    YAH!

  27. YAH! YAH! YAH!

  28. YAH!

  29. The heart has been ripped out of the Knockouts division. TNA have a masochistic obsession with the Beautiful People but the most maddening thing about it is that they are not being used the right way. Angelina Love and Velvet Sky can both cut excellent promos. It would be nice if TNA could cut out the voyeuristic gimmickry and inane swerves and just let them bitch at each other on the mic. The inevitable one-on-one encounter between these two could be electrifying if the writers would just invest in a proper build up.

  30. HELL YEA!

  31. YAH!

  32. For what it was, it was okay. It felt a lot longer than what it actually was. I’m also really starting to like Lacey Von Erich, she’s hilarious — love how she jumps for joy when she hits a move. She even knows she is bad.

Plus, I don’t get the love for Madison Raine… Velvet Sky however, she’s hot!

  33. Ugh, smh. Go away TNA bookers…….just….go away!

Vel-Vel looked cute, and yay @ Madison looking uber hot with that title! I swear it was MADE for her! Haha :D

Anyways, great write-up as per usual, Cryssi.

  34. @pourqoui-bitch: Yeah, I see that too. Lacey is very self-deprecating. It’s rather cute.

  35. Holy crap Daffney was injured in a try-out match against an indy worker at tonights TNA taping :o

  36. What the heck that’s not supposed to be a smiley face

  37. lol that was a joke…!!

  38. not a great match at all, why are they putting Lacey in matches all the time, all she is doing is her backflip into an elbow drop its just getting silly, she’s great as a manager and a character but has the person who booked this not realized she cant work in the ring yet

i cant believe ODB was stuck on her back XD she was like a turtle lol

  39. Rather of seen TBP vs. Saritaylor but I think Sarita is on a tour somewhere I think. Random ass pairing between Daffney & ODB. Why was it even a Tag Title match? It made no sense to put the titles on the line but whatever. Madison looked beautiful in that black dress and the KO Title looks great with her. Hope to see her get in an established feud with some soon. I see it being ODB for some stupid reason. I don’t know what the hell their gonna do with Tara & Angelina. Hopefully they do something on tonights tapings. I’d like to see Hamada again too. The match itself wasn’t horrible but nothing memorable or special. Hopefully next week makes up for this weeks crap.

  40. I think Daffney was more upset about Lacey attacking her with the ugly stick than she was about being upstaged.

  41. The match was………..Lame. :(

  42. Hell effin yah. I want my Taylor Wilde and Sarita back on tv damn it.

  43. Velvet Sky is SUCH a TERRIBLE wrestler and her screaming annoys tha sh*t out of me., but she has great mic skills. Lacey is just eye candy. Madison is the ONLY women that can wrestle and carry well out of the Beautiful People. Sigh……..TNA itself is slowly going down the drains. Bring Sarita and Taylor Wilde back! They are the REAL DEAL! ……………I guess the only REAL professional wrestiling is in the Indys

  44. A brilliant Impact in general – it’s just a shame about the knockouts :( Tara/Angelina would’ve made WAY more sense than what we got.

  45. Bring back the REAL beautiful people.

    Angelina <3 Velvet

    I don't like Lacey or Madison :-(

  46. that was awful not only was their like one good move the fall away slam but the rest was just little shitty moves?
TNA JUST LIKE WWE NEED TO GET THEIR ASSES IN GEAR…dont have girls like lacey to wwe’s maria in ring their meant to bikini/valeting & thats it….
