Welcome to the third annual edition of our Diva Draft feature here at Diva Dirt! If you haven’t been with us over the last couple of years, the premise is simple — each year, I make six predictions/suggestions over six consecutive days in the lead up to the WWE Draft which this year falls on Monday, April 26th. In previous years, I have successfully managed to predict some of the movies; in 2008, I predicted both draft picks and in 2009, four of my six predictions came true with a fifth later being realised in the Diva Trade of October 2009. So, let’s hope this year will be just as fruitful. Check back for all six of my picks over the coming week!
Arguably one of the most exciting performers in the Divas division, Gail Kim’s much anticipated return to WWE last March quickly fizzled out. We soon realised that despite becoming one of TNA’s top Knockouts and upping her game since her previous stint with WWE, Gail wasn’t a priority for the WWE. No sooner was this more evident than her trade to Raw last July where she became another ‘pretty face in the crowd’ along with the likes of Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres. With teases of pushes proving unfruitful, it’s hard to believe that this is the same Gail Kim who had those amazing matches with Awesome Kong in late 2007 through early 2008.
Gail has all the tools to become a top Diva for the WWE, Jim Ross commented that she has the potential to be a Trish-like figure for the women’s division, but unfortunately with the likes of Melina, Eve and Kelly on Raw, Gail has no chance of breaking out. That is why I believe a move to SmackDown is in her best interest and the interest of the women’s division, this is a woman with so much to offer but hasn’t been given the right time to develop as a character to match those impressive moves. Moving her to SmackDown would give her more of a chance to develop herself as a character, SmackDown’s writers have proved effective in giving Beth Phoenix and Mickie James new leases on life and I think they can do the same with Gail too.
Obviously, with Beth, Mickie and Tiffany as babyfaces, Gail would perhaps get lost in the shuffle which is why I’d personally like to see her become a heel, especially if Michelle were to leave the brand for Raw. A heel Gail is something we haven’t seen in quite some time but looking back at her work in TNA, I know she can do it. It is true that heels have more fun in wrestling and I think that’d be a perfect way to establish Gail as a character because there’s only so much you can say or do as a babyface.
Ideally, I’d love to see Gail become one of the top heels on SmackDown and feud with the likes of Beth Phoenix and Mickie James, which I’m sure would lead to some amazing matches.
We’ve seen SmackDown give more life to Beth, Mickie and Layla upon their moves from Raw to SmackDown and I hope Gail is next.

Yes, I agree with this as well. I hope her and Alicia go to SM again, I don’t why Gail was drafted to RAW anyways.
I actually don’t think Gail will move to smackdown, although your idea of her becoming heel and feuding with beth and Mickie is something id much rarther see than what im perdicting. :D
In my perdictions I see her staying on raw as a face and being Michelles first feud. We only really got a small taste of a feud between the two when Gail first joined smackdown last year before she was traded to raw.
I have a feeling this is what were going to see :)
i rather have her stay on RAW and have Katie Lea some time to shine and actually show her in ring skills and come to smackdown same with jillian. the only divas who should be drafted are Michelle,Natalya,Jillian and Katie Lea.
Gail needs a heel turn as much as Katie Lea needs a face turn. I don’t see either happening tho…

I think moving her back to SD is the best idea. Gail was at least used a bit more better on SD then she has been on Raw. She had some decent matches and actually won quite a few matches. I think if she is given the chance and allowed to get on the mic she could really become one of the top divas in WWE but at the moment on Raw unless you are blonde bimbo who speaks french sexly, you don’t get mic time

After today’s releases, I seriously fear for Gail’s WWE future. I hope this draft pick comes to fruition. I wanted Katie on Smackdown! as a Face with her too. :(
This pick has to happen. With Mickie gone Beth is the only credible face, and Gail would fit perfectly into the slot left by Mickie.
Of all the divas that might move on monday, Gail is the one who needs the move the most. She just doesnt fit in on RAW. Either move her to Smackdown, or release her.
But with Katie Lea gone they need a new jobber, so i fear for Gail if she stays on RAW.

Gail needs to move back to smackdown, because when she was on there, she got a good response from the crowd and was able to have some lengthy matches there as well. Maybe she could be a Two-Time Women’s Champ.

If anyone needs to be drafted to smackdown, it is Gail Kim. I hate seeing someone like her in these embarrasing matches on Raw.
I completely agree with suebenden8, Gail Kim has to move to Smackdown!! None of her talent is being shown to the fans over on Raw, where as over on Smackdown she will be given the time to showcase her wrestling talent, plus there could be the possibilities of some really juicy matches!! The few times that I saw Beth Phoenix in the ring with Gail I always thought that they had good chemistry in the ring with one another, and I really do think that this wpil;d be the right move for Gail!! Plus I think the Smackdown writers would really bring out her charcter, like they have done with Beth’s!!
Smackdown would be the best thing for her.
Reystyle: you’re picks are rather good. However I think it would be a crime for talents like Mccool and Nattie to be on the show that doesn’t give a crap about women’s division. I mean, I honestly would prefer for Nattie to remain mostly a valet for the Hart Dynasty, than for her to go to RAW and participate in one minute botch fests or matches inspired on Baywatch. The same goes to Serena.
I wish it was DIVA DRAFT 2010 : GAIL KIM TO TNA.

BUT I want her to hold the Divas title first” THEN she can leave! And hold the tag titles in TNA and her career WILL be complete!
Gail would probably be better off on Smackdown. They haven’t done squat with her since she moved to Raw. What I’d like to see (but it’ll never happen) is for her to go to Smackdown and get in a feud with Simply Flawless, during which Gail brings back Molly Holly so they can show Michelle and Layla who the REAL Bad Girls of the WWE are.
