Former Diva & Knockout, Shelly Martinez is still campaigning for a return to TNA, it has been reported. Last month, we reported that Martinez was asking fans to tweet TNA President Dixie Carter to bring her back but now, Martinez herself has taken matters into her own hands.

PWInsider reports that Martinez has pitched the idea of her being a manager to Shannon Moore. She has also reportedly sent pictures to the company, presumably to Director of Talent Relations Terry Taylor, of her trashing a replica of the WWE Women’s Championship [ala Alundra Blayze] while wearing very little.

Martinez was originally with TNA in 2007 through 2008 as part of LAX under the name Salinas.

Do we need another manager/valet? Given that the Knockouts division has lost several talents in the past couple of months, it’s my belief that their priority should be on signing new wrestlers for the division. If Martinez is interested in that aspect, then great and I hope it works out for her.

  1. id loved her in tna and wwe she’s not your typical manager who doesnt have no wreslting experience and she probably knows more about the business then most of the knockouts and wwe divas

  2. Aiden, are you seriously saying Shelly knows more about the wrestling business then most Knockouts/Divas? I do believe that Shelly has a very different look (as Ariel in ECW), however she lacked basic wrestling skills. She spent several years in Ohio Valley Wrestling and it looked like she didn’t learn the basics of taking a bump. I remember one of her matches in TNA Wrestling and she took a powerbomb on her elbows … that in wrestling is known as a huge NO NO.

  3. Good on her, shows her drive for the job, although I did prefer her on ECW – I loved that gimmick and how she was like the HBIC of ECW with Kevin Thorn for months until Kelly Kelly took the reigns. Well, they’re brining LAX back together again when Hernandez finishes up in Mexico, surely the best way to reintroduce her would be as Salinas, a character we didn’t get much background from in the first place, rather than creating some new gimmick to go along with ‘Shannon Hanging from Hardy’s apron straps’ Moore, who is hardly an essential part of the show.

Also in response to your question, Shelly is not ANOTHER valet, if she were to come back, she’d probably wrestle on the side also. I don’t see why she should be painted with the same brush as Chelsea who has very little to do with anything even as a valet, at least Shelly is an experienced wrestler and valet, like she said in her interview its more than just standing in a corner looking pretty. TNA’s problem (I’ve said it how many times now?) is they’re Diva–fying themselves for the casual fans, hence why TBP will probably be capturing the X Division title next week, they’re all over the place trying to fit in TBP because they have to, whilst doing stuff with Angelina and Tara which already outshines anything the TBP have done and it just equals hot mess. On top of that they’re hiring ‘non Knockouts’ in the fact that Brooke and Chelsea are there, but they aren’t integrated with the division and it just sort of breaks up the Knockouts name, I mean WWE have Divas, who at least try to wrestle or are good character valets, TNA just does whatever Bischoff did in year dot with WCW.

  4. I think she’s definetly not just a pretty face. I’d dare to say her work as a valet during her time in wwe/tna was as awkwardly impressive as Melinas time with mnm. More, I’d add that she’s by far one of the best managers/valets of our time, men included!! Her in-ring work has never been that good, she’s not Lacey-bad, but she’s not nearly as talented as the other Knockouts (with the obvious exception of SoCal Val and the slutty one that I don’t recall the name).

I’d say have her join tna as a manager, Sharmell (another great reference of women being great managers/personalities in wrestling) has left, so there’s not any “real” manager in tna at the moment.

Being a manager/valet is not as easy as it seems to be. I do agree with you Melanie (to some extent), simply because tnas women division is supposed to be something fresh and different from what we’re used. Right now, it seems like tna is that low-budget movie with topless women standing in the background…

  5. TNAFan80 i said she knows more about the buisness not knows more about wreslting skills

  6. Well, they’re bringing back LAX so I guess she can do that. But Shelly is awful in the ring simple as that.

  7. I know, that is why I questioned you. What has she done to make you think she knows more about the business then most other Knockouts/Divas?

  8. She wasnt exactly known as a great wrestler, but she has always been entertaining. And with the new direction of TNA where Entertainment is more important than Wrestling, she definately fits in.

But i dont really think TNA needs new knockouts. They just hired 2 models (Brooke and Chelsea) and an indy wrestler (Santana Garrett), and in addition they have 3 wrestlers they never use (Taylor Wilde, Hamada and Sarita). So let them use the knockouts they already have before hiring new people. Sarita can target the same audience that Shelly Martinez would draw.

  9. haave you never listened to here interviews especially on the Knocked Out DVD

  10. Shelly deserves to be on TNA again, we need more people will talent on the roster these days. And from what I heard of TNA bring back the stable of LAX, that being Homicide & Hernandez, then bring back Salinas into the stable might just come true, I really hope it does. =)

  11. Indy wrestler Santana Garrett? Oh you mean the one that’s name’s never been mentioned, acting as a living mannequin to Orlando Jordan who’s as regular as a Blue Moon in bookings? She’s another one like Brooke and Chelsea who are Divafying the Knockout division by being Knockouts without actually getting involved with the Knockouts. Can this ‘indy star’ Santana wrestle? Because from the fact she’s never spoke, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was just plucked from her fathers wrestler because she was a reasonably unheard of female athelete, I severely doubt they have any plans for her in that dead-end, car crash gimmick. I mean Lacey could be argued as an indy star, does that mean she has talent?

I do agree though Mikas that TNA should use what they’ve got before dipping their hand in the jar again.

  12. Never liked her tbh, so I hope they don’t let her back.

  13. i would love to see her back in tna.

true, she never is going to be the next kong in the ring, but she’s capable and she always was more of a valet than a wrestler anyway. if anything, she’ll make up the numbers in matches – how many more multi-tags with the same eight faces do we have to put up with? also, she’ll be great for squash matches when they wish to put somebody over.. it’ll beat people moaning about taylor, hamada or whoever else “always losing”.

oh, and if nobody has seen her recent shoot with the women’s title and the bucket, do it! it’s brilliant.

  14. “true, she never is going to be the next kong in the ring”

    LOL, you don’t say haha.

I’ve never really been a fan of Shelly in all honesty. Anyone with something about them could have played Ariel and her wrestling skills were never very good. I remember when she wrestled Kelly on ECW, christ that was bad. I think the fact she is being so cheeky to be so open at wanting to be in TNA is the wrong way to go about returning aswell. She should have just explained herself to them, instead of demanding that her fans hound Dixie Carter on Twitter.

  15. I hope really they don’t hire her.. First of all she quit and secondly she waited until her fellow pot loving bff RVD joined so I find it kind of fishy..

TNA has so many Knockouts they need to build up and adding another one would just ruin the KO division even more

  16. I really hope* oops

  17. I hope things work out for her but for right now, TNA needs to concentrate on the knockouts that they already have. Seems like the knockout division these days is the beautiful people show. They need to focus on Sarita, Taylor Wildle and Harmada first. In my opinion.
