WWE Women’s Champion, Beth Phoenix has been pulled from the SmackDown tour of Mexico following an in-ring injury at Tuesday night’s WWE Superstars taping, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Though Phoenix insisted on her Twitter page that she is fine, it looks as though there is more to the story as Beth was scheduled to travel to Mexico yesterday for the scheduled tour.
The champion has been given time off to tend to what the Observer refers to as a ‘minor ankle injury’, with hopes of returning at next week’s SmackDown taping in her hometown of Buffalo, New York.

Getting very nervous…not good not good not good. :-(
Well, I would say that I’m sad for her, but considering the rumours that says that the WWE superstars have been advised to stay locked in their hotel rooms because of kidnappings, she’s more safe here. Mexico is a very dangerous place to travel because of the wars between drug dealers and stuff.
I think your last edition of Hitting The Ropes might have jinxed her David! Least you’ll still be able to defend the belt if she’s not fit to do so. ;)
Yea I’m glad she’s here in the States and not in Mexico. Those drugdealers are psychotic in the worst way. They kidnap people left and right including famous actors and musicians. More often than not they kill them. They are known as “The Zetas.” I’m not sure what that means. We are very aware of them here in Texas. That’s why I worry about that idiot Lita. She bought a house in Nicaragua, Mexico. She’s crazy.
WWE shouldn’t go to Mexico no more, not worth the risk.
I dont like this one bit. I hope its not as bad as we are all speculating.
Even if she is injured, they will likely keep the title on her and make her cut a few promo’s until she’s better, similar to how they dealt with Michelle’s injury last year. And from the sounds of things it seems to be a minor injury so I’m sure Beth will be back in action soon.
With what’s happening in Mexico it’s a good idea for Beth to just stay off the road and tend to her sligthly injured ankle and get it healed.She can as they say like Michelle keep the title and make appearances and still be on tv.She can now just focus on Buffalo and her home town.Yes I agree with several of the comments she’ll be able to keep her title and I wouldn’t expect her to be off long.The tour which is only 4 shows other Diva’s can cover tht.Beth needs to get her ankle healed.And besides this is the first time in I think quite a while that Beth has had any type of injury so she is due a few more days off.And if she is only able to make a brief appearance on SD in Buffalo then she should be ready for SD the following week.But tht shouldn’t hold her back for at least being on camera.
even if Beth is ok,it´s better for her to rest these days,it will only be good for her.and then she can come back on the next SD´s tapings at her hometown of Buffalo.
Well, just a quick updated. The advise to WWE superstars is actually true. Just saw it on Ted Dibiase’s twitter. Lets hope nothing bad happens to them.
This looks like she’ll be out maybe for 2-3 weeks but they wont strip her off like they did to maryse when she was out for a month last year.

Beth just rest and then return to your hometown. I think it will do wonders for her as a babyface because she really needs that great reaction from the crowd as a face.
I agree Beth is safer here in the states than in Mexico. There are a lot of horrible gang fights. Beth is one tough cookie and I am sure she will be back in no time she had that broken jaw 4 years ago so this is nothing
hope she gets 100% soon. it’d piss me off if they strip the belt from her as they didn’t with michelle.
I hope all the superstars are safe in Mexico with all the drug dealers and stuff. I hope if she is injured it’s just a little sprain and will only be out of the ring no more than a month. I really want her to keep the title and not be stripped of it. Hope you’re ok Beth.
I think this is WWE trying to prevent something minor from becoming something serious (thats a good thing) the last thing we need is the glamazon to get injured! Luv ya Beth!
This doesn’t look good for Beth, but I guess the stars are aligning for Kelly and Tiffany, because it’s obvious WWE is intent on pushing them (unfortunately) :/
More just a precaution she is the Womens champion and WWE probably just doesn’t want her to strain that ankle even more, so good that she isn’t being used on the Mexico tour. Just look @ Michelle McCool she injure that Leg @ a house show and the womens champion was out of action for like a couple of months are something, they don’t want that to happen again. Also really wanna see how this comes off on TV probably Major editing surprised there even going to air it, i wonder if they even comment on Rosa previously being upset with Beth lol crazy how they are fighting now lol. #1 fan…hehe

If anyone watches, she never grabs at her ankle. It almost looks like Rosa hit her in the knee/thigh as she ran into her in the corner.
