Independent veteran, Amber O’Neal has launched her own women’s wrestling promotion, CWF ARENACHICKS which held its first show this past weekend. O’Neal, who can currently be seen in WSU and Wrestlicious, launched the promotion as a division of CWF Mid-Atlantic. ARENACHICKS will be based in North Carolina.
Speaking to Diva Dirt, she says: “I am thrilled to bring a professional women’s promotion, along with CWF Mid-Atlantic, to North Carolina.”
“I felt with this being my 10 year anniversary in wrestling, I have worked with the best that wrestling has to offer: talent and promotion wise so now my dream is to bring women’s wrestling fans matches that they want to see.”
Commenting on what fans can expect from the new promotion, O’Neal says that ARENACHICKS will release a DVD series as well as provide downloadable content via official website, ARENACHICKS.com. “You can expect to see the very best that women’s wrestling has to offer from all over the world. You will see some other divisions added to this promotion, those will be announced in the near future,” she explains. “We will be a charity based promotion as well.”
In the first ARENACHICKS promoted match this past weekend, Diva Dirt‘s own Allison Danger defeated the ‘Swedish Sensation’ Mia.
O’Neal also told Diva Dirt that former WWE Women’s Champion, Jazz has been added to the promotion’s roster.

Nice to see a womens promotion emerge in the mid-atlantic. They have some good talent there, but they only have some small indies to work for in that area.
Although i do think they could’ve picked a better name than ‘Arenachicks’.
Amber O’Neal! I’ll be checking this out, definitely. I miss Amber in Shimmer :[
Cool, I visit my aunts and uncles yearly to North Carolina. I hope I can go when a taping occurs.
Great news! More women’s wrestling, the better.
This is great news.
Hopefully Amber has her hands on a lot of matches because she is a damn fine performer. She gets how to make the crowd hate or cheer for her. If a lot more women would focus on the gimmick side of pro wrestling instead of trying to be men, maybe women’s wrestling wouldn’t be considered a ‘waste of time’ to the masses.

So basicly you want another GLOW, where there are only gimmicks and no wrestling.

I don’t think that’s what embich was saying. It’s just important to not merely go from move to move while showing no real personality/character traits.

That is what I meant.
The problem I think for the Divas is that a lot of them just focus on doing moves.. And a lot of times, those moves are poorly executed. I really think the only reason people are so high on Beth, Michelle, Nattie (and to an extend Melina) is because their moves look good. It can’t be because they display an awesome range of emotions or they can make the general crowd laugh, cry or angry. Then you have most of the other divas who are deemed “bad” because they don’t have the physical strength or experience to do their moves as well.
If you look at the flip side, Maryse stands out to a lot of people because she DOESN’T do a million moves.. And you cannot deny how she is one of the few women who show a little character besides “I am so happy to be here!” or “I AM PISSED!”.

I respectfully disagree.
I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to judge Nattie considering that she’s only had like…what…one fued which was 2 years ago against Michelle. She really hasn’t had an oppurtunity to work the crowd. I also disagree about Beth too. If you seen her work SHIMMER then you will now how hilarious she was.

Women’s wrestling is considered to be a ‘waste of time’ to the masses not because of the women trying to be men. It’s because the women who try to take high risks end up falling flat on their ass most of the time. The are thrown onto TV right away despite not having any experience at all. That’s not their fault of course.
@ebmich
How are the women trying to be men? I don’t get that. And why should they have to limit themselves to just ‘gimmick wrestling’? There are a whole lot of women who work damn hard and put their bodies through hell just to prove themselves and to prove to ‘the masses’ that they deserve the time of day. What the hell does gimmick wrestling, nonetheless WRESTLICIOUS, do to demand the same amount of respect for womens wrestling as the men?
i think the wrestlelicious group has gone a long way in showcasing excellent wrestlers in fun, engaging gimmicks. now if they could only lose that HORRID announcer!
