i/ve gotta say it was really disheartening to hear layla say that she’s never watched tna. i remember melina admitting to it before, i just assumed being a pro wrestler you’d want to see what elle is out there.. see something you might not in your own company.. study other wrestlers.
i think angelina’s just echoing what many people feel already. wwe saw the success of the beautiful people and are trying to capture that same success with their own women. “ripping it off” is a bit harsh, though, because everything is copied, rewritten, etc. even tbp themselves are a second coming of team t&a with velvet sky just replacing april. hopefully lay-cool do start the grab the ratings, merchandise sales, etc, because a “rip off” isn’t that cool unless it’s better than the original.

I agree with what everyone’s said already, I hate the way Angelina and Velvet make out that they are innovators of wrestling and that they invented the whole hairspraying and now catty cliques. I mean what, has TNA copyrighted bitching about other people now? It’s a typical gimmick, it’s not exactly unique in itself and like what’s been said, its still just a homage of Mean Girls, they still did nothing original. The difference between TBP and LayCool is that for some reason, maybe its creative staff or production, but LayCool can do these segments without looking (dare I say it) like they’ve just come from standing on a street corner, hearing all the gossip from their pimp, LayCool do it with more class and professionalism and to be honest they maintain freshness, whereas TBP just always seem like they’re going somewhere (kicking Madison out) then just bobbing back to the status quo (bringing Lacey and Madison in) they’ve just ran their course now, I think its only the middle aged, sexually starved men that watch TNA that’s keeping them going.

It’s a stupid gimmick to begin with, I don’t why everyone’s so golden about the idea. TBP and ElCool both ran their courses a LONG time ago. I can’t watch either now.

Does Angelina really wanna go there? Nothing in wrestling is original. Just because they use the same gimmick doesn’t mean it’s a rip-off. Lay-Cool has been repackaged differently from The Boring People, just like they were repackaged differently from the Glamour Girls, PMS, Vince’s Devils etc. No disrespect to Angelina, but the KOs really need to get off their high horse. They should focus on getting their division back on track instead of taking cheap shots at the competition.

i think Angelina, is still made that WWE released, her ,and now she is with TNA, and so she is jealous of the other women that are in the biggest wrestling company in the woorld.
As far as ripping off, i think there is that fine line, yes this is wrestling and both companies can do whatever storylines they want, WWE did do the storyline first, with PMS (not so much in the same way), and Vince Devils, so i think it is alright that they are doing it with Laycool,

Lay-Cool aren’t even really that much like Vince’s Devils. Vince Devil’s were more eye candy were as Lay-Cool focus more on the wrestling aspect, yeah I know ’cause WWE is P.G but they are original and sexy without doing lesbian scenes and wearing no clothing. Lay-Cool are better then TBP, Angelina is not even that pretty. She looks like a drag queen and she is even uglier now she is so jealous. As many have said, jealousy is such an ugly disease, thus Angelina is hideous. Angelina is a pointless roster member without Velvet in her corner anyway. Go away Angelina -.-

I never have thought that Lay-Cool (oh, how I loathe that name) has been anything like TBP or anything that TNA has put on. TBP are sexy and edgy; L-C is childish and annoying, though I like both wrestlers independently.

Lay-Cool can wrestle better than half of The Beautiful People and the way TNA has been taking things from WWE’s past they shouldn’t say anything! I don’t really see any similarities.

The Beautiful People is just Team Blondage with Paper Bags so I don’t get how she sees it as some original concept that she and Velvet invented. I don’t see Laycool dressing skanky, I don’t see Laycool putting bags on peoples heads, I don’t see Laycool teasing to kiss one another, so how is it copying? Because they insult peoples looks? It’s wrestling, and that’s what people do.

I don’t see why Layla needs to watch TNA, I mean when you’re in the No.1 wrestling company in the world, why do you need to watch the number two unless they’re posing a serious threat? And lets face it, TNA’s moment of glory for this half a decade fizzled out a long time ago.

@lookingGlass I’m not saying she has too not one bit I didn’t see Layla as the type either way. It’s just a bit disheartening when your supposed passion only lies with your company. kinda plays off the fact that a good amount of wwe roster were never just wrestling fans. As in watch the craft because they love pro wrestling in GENERAL. i agree they have died down and there isn’t much to see there as well. But never? Just because your the number one company does’t mean you can’t respect those who are trying to work towards what you have.
They have to travel so much that I’m sure on her days off the last thing Layla wants to do is watch TNA. Hell, TNA is the last thing a lot of this forum wants to watch anyways with how awful it is.
I honestly never compared TBP gimmick to the Lay-Cool gimmick because I see a lot more differences than similarities between both groups. TBP have always had a sexual aura to them with their ring entrances and dress-sense and they also did a few things like the paper bag treatment and hacking hair off that I have not seen Lay-Cool do. Lay-Cool definitely use a more funny, often high-school comedy style to their bitching and nastiness if you get what I mean…there have been a lot of all-female groups like PMS, Vinces Devils, Stacy & Torrie, etc in wrestling so it’s gonna be hard to stand out or not be looked at as “copy catting” anytime a new female group is formed in any wrestling promotion. There is only so much you can do or so far you can go with the bitchy women characters and gimmicks.

I don’t think Layla said she doesn’t watch ANY wrestling outside of the WWE, she just said she doesn’t watch TNA. We know that a lot of divas watch the Shimmer dvds, maybe she is one of them…

Well, it’s finally happened, it was long-expected and ends up pretty damn juicy. I like it and it actually speaks well for everyone involved. Angelina has a right to take her shots, especially in retribution. Vince’s Devils, are you kidding? They didn’t come close to the buzz TBP had on their best run, dinging up numbers from the rest of the show. Vince’s Devils was terribly short, didn’t achieve the imagery or mystique even remotely, and didn’t bring up and get over face Divas that weren’t already.
It’s apparent that it is swinging toward Laycool, even given the circumstances, for obvious reasons. More people watch WWE, more people are more familiar / invested in Laycool than Angelina and/or TBP. Especially as TNA booking has been murdering them along with the Green card issue and injury both derailing her while TBP becomes diluted and sloppily booked. They were at their best being allowed to establish repetition, ritual and heelishness.
It’s obviously too risque for WWE so to the extent they could go there, they did go there with the Laycool team – at the same time, they ‘evolved’ there, they didn’t rip them off at all, and they also leaned on Vickie Guerrero’s heat when necessary to pop a big card (Wrestlemania…) Comparing the two now is a no-contest, fortunately for the WWE majority base it’s definitely Laycool’s battle to fight now. They smell blood in the water for the TNA knockouts and are gonna take a few bites, and why not, with WWE engulfed in trying to outswerve a sea of smart marks, ADHD morons / ditzes that get bored with anything after 2 weeks, and the fans who know all options and don’t just mindlessly watch WWE alone.
The buzz is definitely going to the NXT angle, soon Nexus, the Danielson chants continue, NXT2 is getting buzz too with the Fortunate Sons being no laughing matter and imminent along with Nexus, Hunter and UT’s returns. I could see getting some heat, guaranteed a win due to fan numbers, from Laycool and/or Vickie here. They’re shooting fish in a barrel, regardless of what happened, you’ll have a rousing cacophony agreeing with a WWE line and trashing TBP. And why not? It’s the fight that needs to happen, because both will ultimately win by getting the fans they had further entrenched and loyal. Neither has much to lose really and Laycool could certainly turn up the heat given the climate in WWE now towards blurring the lines to garner interest.
Here’s the thing. In the beginning of TBP, they were levels above Lay-Cool but look at them now…without Angel the girls are not taken seriously anymore. Thank God Madison instills some skills within the group, not taking away from the abilities of the others. But Michelle and Layla have stepped up.
Yeah, with a recent update of “NXT Grads continue to pop RAW ratings,” I think we’re definitely moving into the Reality angle era, shoot style, whether anyone likes it or not. Hold on to your hats, people. Twitter is as kayfabe as it gets now, can you dig that, suckaaa…
Angelina Love needs to be a professional. By saying such scandalous comments, makes her sound bitter. I know TNA is not a big company like WWE. Love needs to understand that WWE did not want her, too bad. Love is probably mad because TNA was probably her 2nd choice. LayCool is way better, and they are not a rip off. LayCool are better wrestlers, they are more entertaining, and they are recognized more than The Beautiful People. TNA’S Beautiful People was good when Love and Sky were in it. Imagine replacing LayCool, and putting someone else, The Beautiful People are more like a sorority.

The knockouts and the people behind them really should refrain from saying anything remotely negative about the divas. There was a period of time when
the knockouts were considered a head above the divas but the tables have turned. Backlash is going to be swift and harsh if they dont get off their high horse quickly enough.
