The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that former Knockouts Champion, Tara could be heading back to TNA. Dave Meltzer writes:
Lisa “Tara” Varon is expected back. From what we’re told, she was leaving when her contract expired and they did the retirement stipulation in her match. Then, actually before the match took place, she and Dixie Carter either cut a new deal or at least were close on it. But since they had the stipulation out there, they had her lose, leave as scheduled, and are trying to come up with an angle to explain why she can come back.
If true, what a swerve! Best wishes to Lisa in whatever she decides to do.

Despite what people may think of her and her run in TNA, she’s needed right now.
I wonder how they would bring her back? Maybe they would put her in some costume like they did with Kaz and Christopher Daniels.
“Despite what people may think of her and her run in TNA, she’s needed right now.”
The Knockouts need more match time before they bring in someone who didn’t do much for the other chicks during her last run.
i hope this is true, i miss seeing her on Impact, they could always have her join TNA in another name and disguise then reveal it’s her later on, like WWE did with hogan and that stupid Mr.America gimmick or whatever it was on smackdown a few years ago
or they could just do what they useually do “-insert name here- used they’re power to get her back on TNA”
I really don’t want to see her again. Her entire run in Tna was awful. It ranks up there with Booker T and Bobby Lashley as the worst. I wish Tna would focus on their own talent they already have and not focus on ex-wwe divas. This includes Mickie James because I really think she is going to sign with them. No offense to Tara and Mickie James but their last years in wrestling have been pretty lackluster for the most part. I wish Tna would start pushing people like Sarita and Daffney, who I think can be stars if given time. Also, they should really try and sign girls from Shimmer like Sara Del Rey and Mschif. I would love to see the Scream Queens reunite.
Think what you want about my comment, but Tara/Lisa is so flipsy. One minute she’s on board and the next she’s out. I could’ve sworn I heard word about her leaving because she wasn’t getting paid enough and that WWE didn’t want her, either. Don’t know if it’s any truth to that. But, I wouldn’t doubt it and I hope it’s true after she made a negative comment about WWE during her TNA venture. Plus, I’m glad she’s on TNA as opposed to WWE. I’d rather see her on a production I don’t watch (TNA) than a production I do.
Ohiofan1: I agree with you. I’m going to retrack my statement and say she isn’t needed. What they need to do is start utilizing the talent they already have (Sarita, Daffney, Hamada). MsChif has said time again that she will most likely never agree to a mainstream deal if offered because it will take away complete control of her gimmick. As for Sara Del Rey, I think if TNA doesn’t try to sign her after this upcoming match she has at their house show in NJ, then they never will.
i actully hope she comes bak. i like whahcing her wrestle. haha i espically like her spider gimmick
The only way I would like to see her comeback is if Angelina loses at the PPV to Madison after having put her career on the line. And then Tara/Roxxi/Angelina return as kind of an ‘f’ you Beautiful People we’re not leaving. That would at least be somewhat interesting and different. If she just returns…I wouldn’t be a fan of that. Especially if she’s back feuding with Angelina or TBP.
it sounds to me like wwe didn’t want her so she’s gone crawling back to tna.
honestly, she didn’t add much to the division and she’s had high profile feuds with all the champions, unless she teams up with someboy and becomes mainly a tag partner, i don’t see where she can fit in. i was quite looking forward to tna using some of their lesser seen knockouts.. if tara does come back, taylor, sarita and hamada will also be pushed further back.
i think it’s time for tara just to retire gracefully. or at least get cracking with that mma stuff she’s proud of training for.
noo i want tara to return to the wwe
i read somewhere that she said that both tna and the wwe had offered her a new contract or something like that
i want Victoria vs Laycool, that’d be awesome
maybe she could even return for just a few months, but she could still have a nice women’s championship reign in few months :)
I hope not. Her run in TNA was so boring and stale. None of her matches were that great either. She’s going on/is 40 and I don’t see her wrestling much more anyways.
I love Lisa and want this to be true! But, it doesn’t really seem THAT likely. Her new myspace blog kind of seemed like she was steering away from that and heading toward MMA. She mentioned wanting to do things before it was to late (MMA and her age makes sense) and then also talked about getting together with a guy who books MMA matches.
But, I think I’d rather see her go back to the WWE. I think she could really work well on Smackdown. Again, I don’t know if this will happen.
Why? Her run in TNA exposed how overrated she is, and why WWE never made “Victoria” the focal point. She is only a star in her own mind, and maybe Dixie’s. Just bring in Mickie if you have to go with former WWE wrestlers. She is one of the only active women out there that has any name value, and is about ten years younger.
justbringit: I respectfully disagree about her being overrated. She was VERY good as Victoria during her years with the WWE, but like most of the skilled women’s wrestlers that came and went in the company, she was underutilized. I think she was underutilized for so long that when she had her chance to be the focal point (TNA), it was too late. Her age and bad knee caught up with her and she begun to slow everyone down.
I think her TNA run went south because of the booking AND her.
“I respectfully disagree about her being overrated. She was VERY good as Victoria during her years with the WWE, but like most of the skilled women’s wrestlers that came and went in the company, she was underutilized. ”
Anyone would’ve looked good if they faced Trish, who was over like rover, a bumping machine, and charismatic/very attractive to most people. When Victoria stopped feuding with her, she prolly had some good matches with Gail and Mickie. However, most people just talk about her psycho gimmick, which was really only like a year and half of her career. I don’t think she was “underutilized” because they tried pushing her as a face and it bombed. And I doubt it was because they “didn’t give her enough time”.. She did the same thing in TNA as a face, minus the stupid dancing, and bombed again.
When Victoria was jobbing out to the Bellas, Maria, Michelle, etc, and etc, it wasn’t very surprising because that is what over the hill workers do. They job to make the younger person look better. What you may think of the younger people may change, but it doesn’t change the fact that Victoria had her moment in the sun already.
I don’t think Tara’s TNA run was bad at all. Her feud with Angelina wasn’t great, because the chemistry wasn’t there. However, during the tag tournament she had a really great exchange with Hamada! It was fast paced and entertaining and it was both of them working. Her feud with Kong was okay, but the way that they book Tara made her and Kong not fit. They still booked Tara to be a badass, which made fighting Kong awkward, as she obviously wasn’t the stronger of the pair. Even still, their cage match was GREAT! It was given good time and that powerbomb on Kong and that crossbody off the cage were great! The ODB thing was okay, but nothing to write home about. And, her Daffney stuff was pretty good I thought. Her last match with Madison wasn’t bad either, I think the pair have chemistry.
I think what makes Tara work is that she is willing to take a bump still, and takes GREAT bumps.
If anything she suffered from poor booking. Do I think they should build the knockouts around her? No. I think they should build around Madison, Sarita, and Taylor Wilde (they all have the look and ability). Do I think Tara should return to her early Victoria ways, bulk up, go crazy, and team with Daffney for the KO tag titles to give them meaning? YES.

Wrestling is a two way street. Trish did her part and Victoria was able to keep up with other female wrestlers and do her part, unlike most recently. During the last few years years she was able to carry unskilled divas such as Maria. If she wasn’t a great wrestler then, she wouldn’t have been able to do that.
I think her face run went pretty well up until the whole thing with the mysterious person in drag coming to her rescue. That part blew because it was stupid and their was nothing mysterious about that person since everyone knew it was Stevie Richards.
There was another chance for her to get that momentum back she had during her first reign. I recall a certain bikini contest where she destroyed ALL the diva search contestants and Jerry Lawler and the crowed popped so hard. So what did the WWE do? They decided to turn her into a heel.
She bombed in TNA because of the way they handed her and pushed her down our throats. Like I’ve said before, her age had already caught up with her and she was no longer doing her part inside of the ring.
I disagree that Tara’s age caught up with her. She had a great match against Mickie James on SD!, which was one of her best, just before she left the WWE. The problem was like the poster above me stated TNA’s misuse of her.
They over pushed Tara and gave her the title way too soon. I like it when new talent even when a star actually have to work very hard to win the title taking up to 6 months to accomplish it. Then once she did win the title TNA had her lose it just as fast. She never got a solid reign with the title holding it for at least over three months. Then there’s the fact Hogan and Bischoff came in during the last few months of her contract and really made the division fall apart.
I say Tara deserves a second chance so TNA can do it right.
I dnt mind seeing Tara/Victoria back in TNa , I thought her TNA run was pretty good , well at elats until she started her fued with ODB , I thought her fued with Daffeny was good it could have gone out longer with daffeny winning the title but ah well…
Seriously, Tara needs to go to the company that will give her the best run and then at the end of two, maybe three years (even though that’s pushing it), Tara can RETIRE FOREVER ala’ Trish and Lita who occassionally return for appearances. And I wouldn’t mind seeing a badass, take-no-shit heel Tara again.
Don’t see the point in this. I used to like Victoria, but come on,TNA. Stop trying to live through the WWE.
They supposedly had nothing for someone like Alissa. They hardly use several people they still have. All of whom are quite a bit younger and largely have more upside than Tara at this point. And there are better choices available on the indy circuit to boot.
Her first run in TNA didn’t much aid the credibility of her opponents or the division in general. Move on and sign someone who is versatile and can help longterm. Like Payton Banks aka Rain, for one example. Why bring back a 39 old with MMA aspirations who doesn’t have good mic skills?
I read that wwe supposantly had no intrest or little intrest on bringing her back soo she asked Dixie for a salary raise! Idk what Dixie said thew
Shanti: Agree pretty much with all you’ve said.
I admire the fact that Lisa has such a passion for the business. I don’t think 39 is over the hill when you can still go at the pace she can. I’m honestly not sure if I’d want her back in TNA or not, considering the fact you have Daffney, Hamada, Sarah Stock & Shantelle Taylor on the back burner. TNA needs to work with what they have and get some feuds going before adding in more talent. And they need to respect their talent, not treat them like disposable commodities. After what happened with Nikki Roxx, I’d think twice about working there if I was a female wrestler.
If Bobby Lashley and Christian and Shannon Moore can bounce between companies, I don’t see why Victoria couldn’t. She’s a great worker. She made Trish look like a million bucks! And she has had some great matches with Mickie James and Gail Kim. She also had some memorable encounters(for us diva fans)with Lita and Molly Holly. I don’t think she’s overrated at all. And ofcourse your face run is going to bomb when they give you a Paula Abdul gimmick! Comeon! That’s just common sense! She’s 40 but she looks 35 and the woman can work. So yea, I’m all for a return. Just because she’s a woman doesn’t mean she can’t weigh her options. The fact that she’s a woman and is able to negotiate with the two big companies at her age(Just because we know that Vince likes his divas young/minus Sable)should be in itself considered an accomplishment.
The only other two Divas I could see having that kind of pull would be ofcourse Lita and Trish Stratus. Bring on Tara version 2. I wouldn’t mind another feud with Daffney, them two are some crazy bytches!;)
i love her in tna because it shows that she stills has the skills that wwe never let her use………..her fued with kong and her debut fued with angelina were excellent fueds……
but ive heard that tna wanted to make the division surround her which is scary because then none of the others could get the spotlight i mean she was always in the title picture somewhere…
i hope she does come back to wrestling she is very skilled and can put on a good match i mean how often did she botch moves hardly ever!!!!
I really dont like the idea of Tara returning. TNA should focus on the talented knockouts they do have like Hamada and Sarita instead of bringing back Tara who I do believe is past it. Tna have the necessary Knockouts to build a decent division, if they would just focus on that and create their own stars instead of trying to leech off of old WWE ones then maybe they could have a successful product.
I don’t think Tara/Victoria is needed in TNA, nor was she ever.
There are a few people from WWE that would fit in on the TNA roster, but Tara just isn’t one of them. She didn’t do anything special in TNA and it’s time they start focusing on Taylor Wilde, Hamada and Sarita. Angelina is back and Daffney is cleared to wrestle, as well if I’m not mistaken. Plus, Madison Rayne is pretty good in the ring. That’s 6 capable women right there. Just work on building them a bit more and giving them meaningful feuds.
Are u guys looking at the tna
knockout’s division and than say
Victoria isn’t needed. Victoria(Tara)
is one the most talent woman out there
in wrestling business. She’s about 40 but
can still go and outshine the 20s years old girls.
Now, when she was in tna her run in the company wasn’t
that great besides the feud she had with Kong.
But tna need her rite now.
maybe with angelina losing the match to madison, madison can say she has beaten 3 knockouts and can defeat anyone else thts in her way then tara can come in with a surprise attack, just like Angelina/tara last year, :Da-Ja-Voo:
Well she just posted on her official myspace/or facebook that she’s not going to WWE because Victoria has run her course. She’s doing some training with her MMA coach and is going to visit with Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Sharmell(InTexas) and others for a “Girls Night Out!”
So I guess its TNA or MMA.
wtf tara/victoria over the hill then please kelly, maria & candice havent even been on the hill…she can still go ivory & Jacqueline where in there 40′s in wwe & could still go..
@ohiofan1
Mickie James was a Knockout before she was ever a Diva. So it wouldn’t be like TNA taking all the wrestlers WWE let go.
- I think Mickie James would do A LOT better in TNA, as of now.
