Last week on Impact, Knockouts Champ, Madison Rayne, faced off against Taylor Wilde in a match that was overshadowed by several superficial things and a very memorable backstage brawl. Angelina Love would end up getting involved and you had the makings of a really decent Impact. This week, the shoe was on the other foot as Angelina got into the ring. She took on Diva Dirt favorite, Daffney, in a lopsided match and stipulations were placed on this Sunday’s championship match. Post-match promo hilarity ensued and there was no follow-up to the Saritaylor falling out. Oh well.

To kick off our Impact coverage tonight, everyone’s favorite goth queen, Daffney, is in the ring and she’s set to take on Angelina Love, the number one contender to the Knockouts Championship. It’s nice to see the crowd react so warmly towards Daffney, and Angelina’s reaction is just as nice. After Angelina completes the posing portion of her ring entrance, the two femme fatales begin to stare one another down from opposing ends of the ring. As soon as the bell rings, both Knockouts lock-up and Angelina immediately takes control by working over Daffney’s wrist. Zombie Hot is able to turn that in her favor in almost no time but Angelina no sells the armbar and slams her knee into the gut of her opponent. Daffney doubles over in pain, but she doesn’t release the hold, so Angelina does it again. This jars Daffney’s grip and Angelina is able to whip Daffney into the ropes and take her down with a clothesline.

Daff bounces back to her feet, but Angelina just knocks her down for a second time. This time, Angelina pulls Daffney up and locks her in a side headlock. Daffney attempts to fight out of this with a few elbow shots to Angelina’s stomach, and she gets sent to the ropes. She comes flying at Angelina but the crafty, blonde Canadian sends the Scream Queen down once again with a flying spinning heel kick. Daffney is very slow to get to her feet, but when she does, she manages to send Angelina across the ring and towards one of the opposite turnbuckles. She charges forward, but Angelina is waiting on her and catches Daffney with an elbow. This sends Daffney reeling and Angelina once again pounces with a pretty standard headlock.

The crowd is solidly behind Daffney at this point (who has gotten in very little offense) and she manages to break up the headlock by turning it into a jawbreaker that nearly takes Angelina to the mat. Daffney crawls to her feet and the minute she does, Angelina forgets her jaw is hurting and slams Daffney down. Angelina motions for her foe to get up and when Daff obliges her, Angelina scoops her up and slams her down again. Once again, Daffney gets back to her feet and this time, Angelina decides to put Zombie Hot out of her misery. Daffney ends up killed and Angelina gets an extremely easy victory. The post match celebration is cut short by Angelina herself because she motions for the sound crew to cut her music and she gets a microphone.

Angelina smiles sweetly and looks into the camera. She says that Madison Rayne is probably watching at home since she doesn’t have the balls to be there in person. Angelina continues on by saying that in three days time, at Victory Road, she will become the first ever four-time TNA Knockouts Champion. Before she can continue, the Beautiful People’s theme music hits and the champ herself makes her way onto the stage. Madison has a microphone and she tells Angelina that she wants to know what she (Angelina) is willing to risk since Madison is putting her championship on the line. She wants to know if Angelina is going to put her implants on the line or perhaps, her cheap trashy weave. Angelina is highly amused that Madison brought weaves into the conversation and the rest if the world probably is too. Madison finally gets the idea that Angelina should put her career on the line.

Both girls speak Canadian for a few minutes before Angelina agrees to Madison’s request. Madison is happy about the turn of events and she goes to walk away. Angelina stops her and says that she had a feeling Madison may try and pull something like this, so she went to the championship committee earlier that day and received a special stipulation. The stipulation is as follows: If at any time Lacey or Velvet get involved in the match on Sunday, then Madison will be disqualified on the spot and Angelina will be handed the Knockouts Championship on the spot. Madison takes this news very well and turns her back, walking away. Angelina is full of confidence and the scene fades to a shot of D-Von Dudley.

Looks like we’re done here.

Impact was a very blah show, and there was no Desmond/Chelsea drama this week to report. The Daffney/Angelina match was pretty bad for Daffney fans, but those who are Team Angelina were no doubt happy. TNA more than likely wanted to book their number on contender strong heading into the pay-per-view and if that is truly the case, then mission accomplished. Daffney was used as a jobber on this particular night. The match wasn’t great anyway. It was slow and a bit sloppy. The timing was definitely off and neither woman really shined. They simply went through the motions and Angelina won.

The post match promo between Madison and Angelina was laughable to say the least. It was badly written from a theater person’s perspective and terrible that Madison actually had to dis another girl’s hair. Some things just shouldn’t be done and Madison ripping on Angelina for her “bad weave” is just one of those things. At least both girls sounded confident on the microphone. Angelina is always good, but Madison has stepped it up in recent weeks. The usual stipulation of career versus title was added, but this time it has a twist and chances are, we could all be in for a swerve come Sunday.

The path to Victory Road was set-up nicely (despite said horrible writing) tonight and it will be fun to watch Madison and Angelina finally go at it when everything is on the line. Mediocre effort for Impact, but nice job to both girls who were given little to work with.

Now, go pray for Daffney. She deserves better than resident jobber status.

  1. I definitely agree that Daffney is deserving of more. Let’s get it together, TNA.

However, I didn’t find the banter, post-match, to be that horrible. Maybe because I am a guy. I expected something like “bad weave” jokes from a member of The Beautiful People.

  2. Im really impressed how over Daffney is in the Impact zone. TNA should realize this and turn her full-fledge face.

  3. It’s kind of annoying how the results from their PPV match is so god awfully obvious, we all know, Vel-vel and LVE will cost Madi her match and her championship, blah blah. Kind of tired of TBP since 2008, they got too stale and predictable, Angelina included. Madison in my eyes, is the only one that truly improved.

And it’s really stupid to have Daffney, who’s by far the only Knockout over with the crowd jobbing that quickly to Love. They seriously need to include her in more segments because anything without her nowadays in TNA is either boring or plain mind-fuck.

TNA, please use the girls with talent that you have under contract, naming Hamada, Sarita, Wilde and Daffney. They could have TBP/Madison/Angelina/Rosie segments/matches but not have them competing for titles as they’re clearly not as talented as the girls I named before…oh well, never going to happen!

  4. i think it was a good match, it seems like the SariTaylor feud is an explosion exclusive

the mic time between Madison and Angelina was fun
Madison-”what are you putting on the line sunday? you gonna put those fake fun bags you got in your top on the line? how about the terrible cheap weave you got hanging from your head” lol but OMG talk about the pot and the kettle

  5. Daffney is like Roxxi when no matter how much she is treated like crap, they are still over. I guess when there is no other heel out there, she has to be the jobber. I honestly do think that Daffney is the most popular knockout on Diva-Dirt. Rosie is mostly negative and TBP and Taylor WIlde are mixed while Love and Sarita are generally popular. Daffney truly is the most popular and haven’t heard any critisim for her.

  6. The Sarita/Taylor follow up happened during Xplosion.

Taylor was against Rosie, and was winning, but Sarita interrupted her match, and a great brawl ensued. I even saw Sarita do an MMA move (countered Taylor’s tackle by sprawling her to the ground).

I wish the Taylor/Sarita feud was happening on Impact more often. It’s actually more interesting than the Angelina/TBP feud.

  7. Ohhh please Madison you cannot diss anyones hair hunny. I am thinking that this sunday at VR Angelina will losse and in a couple of weeks Angelina and Tara(cause I heard she was working out a new contract with TNA the night of her departure) will like make a apperance each week untill they finally got a match for a “contract”. Yeah It’s doubtfull but thats my theory

  8. Well that was bland, yet again. I can’t wait till this disappointing and pointless fued comes to an end and something decent can happen with the Knockouts now that Tommy Dreamer is on creative and supporting them.

And in that match, why was Daffney recieving the sleeper? Surely seeing as she is the heel, she should do that type of move on Angelina. Weird pace and flow to the match, I just didn’t enjoy Impact! this week.

  9. The match was good but I would’ve liked it if Daffany did more. The promo after was really good. Madison is really coming along and it’s ashame it all might end on Sunday.

  10. I thought Impact was a pretty solid episode, this being the one major exception. 1st, it could gone at least another 3-5 minutes. I just think, given how tough as nails Daffney is, she shouldn’t been jobbed out, let alone that quickly. I understand that the point of the match was to advance their done a thousand times storyline, but this was just painful to watch. I was hoping Daff would jump Love afterwards, but I don’t think she’s playing the heel role anymore, though I could be wrong. The post match segment was a sleeper. Do they not realize how over Daffney is, or do they just not care? I couldn’t help but notice the crowd seemed to favor her by about 60-40, even from my slightly biased point of view, Daffney is way over with the crowd, and whoever is doing a horrible job of booking her needs to get their head out of their ass.

  11. the sarita/taylor feud was followed up on xplosion, solidifying their break-up, so hopefully they get to transition into the main show after the ppv as the champion will need a new challenger (whether it be love/sarita or rayne/taylor).

i really liked the promo. it felt like the kind of promo a couple of the menz would cut on impact, but obviously feminised (boobs, weave). rayne has definitely grown in the mic skills department and some of love’s facial reactions were very endearing and face-y (which is something the face angelina has been missing.. being “face-y”).

the match.. so, so. but it was still solid and it did the job. i would have preferred to see more offense from daffney, but with it being the match leading into the ppv, they had to book love strongly, so that’s okay with me.

even though i don’t want angelina to be champion again (and i love her), it could bring up the possibility of both a daffney/love feud as well as a sarita/love feud. so if she does become a 4 time champ, it’s no biggie.

  12. Being over in the Impact Zone means jackshit.

Kip James was one of the most over guys last year, ffs.

Match was kinda eh, Daffney is still suffering from the injury, look how it was hard for her to bump on her back.

And Angie is gonna win at VR fore sure.

  13. I think love would look so much more attarctive minus all the makeup and weave IMO. The match was ok I guess. I guess I exspect a lot more from these girls because there both good. If love looses I would be suprised because TNA likes her alot, but TNA likes Rayne too so who knows.

  14. I’m thinking that Angelina is going to win at Victory Road, no doubt about it. But What I’d love to see is Lacey and Velvet turn on Madison. If they attack Madison, Madison wins via DQ, and the feud goes on.

  15. Daffney was jobbing long before last night. The current creative team even had a chance to break her out of that role vs Tara, but repeatedly (& wrongly imo) choose not to. Given Tara’s status, it would have made sense to do it then.

Not to mention that these ladies met in the ring a few months ago with Daffney slamming Angelina face first into steps as part of a Beautiful People beat down.

Daffney does deserve better than she has gotten. That’s long been the story though.

I definately take issue with Angelina or Madison being grouped with someone like Rosie talent wise.

  16. I thought it was a pretty decent match. Did it’s job and made Angelina look strong for her PPV title shot.

Atleast Daffney is being used and is on TV…not every Knockout can be at the top at once…Daffney just had a push and a title match at a PPV like 3 or 4 months ago.

  17. After watching Daffney’s recent, excellent in-ring and promo work on Xplosion–heck, the woman can even have convincing character interaction with a grill!–it was kind of painful to watch her get eaten up by Angelina Love in five minutes. Although Angelina is great too, and I certainly don’t begrudge her her push or anything, I just think that TNA is missing a great opportunity in Daffney, especially considering how over she’s gotten with how little they’ve given her :/

  18. So this how Sara Del Rey jobbed to angliena love at da house show last week,SHAME ON U TNA !

  19. I really hope this Angelina/Beautiful People feud is over after this PPV. Knowing TNA though, they’ll be milking this for months. I’d really love to see Daffney get a push. She’s more over than most of the Knockouts, and capable of a good run. Plus she deserves it.

  20. Amazing how Daffeny is the most popular knockout in the impact zone , nd yet she still jobbs half the time…

If…no when Angelina Love wins This sunday I hope she and daffeny fueds for the Knockouts Championship but then again Angelina will still b fueding with Madison…I highy dobut they would have Angelina loose this sunday just 4 her carrer to b over , unless Tara is coming bak but I dobut that
