Three-time Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix has been dubbed a ‘Future Hall of Famer’. She joins an elite pack of 18 Superstars to receive a trading card to that affect in the new issue of WWE Magazine.
Joining the ranks of Triple H, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho, Beth is the only Diva to receive said trading card. A mighty vote of confidence in our Glamazon!
Obviously, a trading card is hardly indicative of being inducted into the Hall of Fame but another accolade to add to Beth’s already vast list of accomplishments.

Beth is my favorite because of the fact this isn’t something that was truly offered she chased it! Her passion and Melina’s are never mistakable, being categorize with those elite guys is pretty remarkable and as a Phoenix fan I’m proud. It’s undeniable that she’s a future hall of famer in part to her dedication.

Even though something could happen making Beth being inducted impossible in the future, I don’t think anything bad will happen. She gets an amazing reaction, and as OhioFan1 said, Beth is the true archtype that represents WWE’s Divas motto. I think she’ll have an amazing career.
Frank, I saw that she is coming to that show in NY but that is pretty far to drive. I’ll skip this one and she if she is doing any appearances closer to DC in the next few months. If you go you will be pleasantly surprised how amazing beautiful and friendly she is in person. :-)

I use to always say I wonder how wwe would be without Beth , Mickie & Melina and now that all 3 of them arent in the wwe rite now , I realized wwe needs all 3 of them…I always had faith in Beth carrer even when everybody said her carrer was falling when she was with Santino….
What has Beth done that is HOF worthy? Some of you guys are too much. She got no reaction up until the feud with McCool, and is very one dimensional. She is not going to be the next big thing, because quite frankly the males in the crowd are not that in to her. Like it or not, they want to watch beautiful women, not a female bodybuilder with manly features. Chyna was the only one that ever made that work, and she got alot of help from working with the big names back then.
I don’t see how any current diva is worthy of the HOF, since interest in women wrestling is at an all time low. Do any of these women come anywhere close to what Trish, Lita, Chyna, or Sable accomplished? In the post Trish/Lita era, the one woman that might have a shot is Mickie, and that’s only because she had a great first year in the company. And of course Michelle will be inducted unless she gets a divorce. If you think Beth is worthy because of a few title reigns, than I guess Maryse is worthy as well.
I wish David, but I can’t either. That’s why I saving my money for Wrestlemania in Atlanta to meet her in person at axxess.

justbringit- I’m a guy and I’m a huge Beth mark. Beth is beautiful to me, David, and plenty of others. Just because she has muscles, doesn’t mean she’s unattractive. Besides, her voice and her face is feminine, so I don’t know what manly features your talking about. Remember, Sarita does bodybuilding once a year for the CMLL and doesn’t look or sound manly at all. There are males out there, like myself, who actually admire people like her, Beth, and Sara Del Rey for avoiding the typical diva look. DId you ever think about that?
justbringit – An all time low? Hardly. Interest is low, but at least there are divisions in the major companies. You can’t say that was always the case. And WWE will induct who they want to induct. I mean, Molly Holly never reached Trish-level as far as accomplishments go, but I fully expect her to end up in the HoF.
WWE are eventually going to have to have to really push the female aspect of their shows. They’re going to be perceived as sexist otherwise if they keep this up. And when that time comes, they’re going to feel the need to bulk up the HoF with women from the past. If that includes Mickie/Melina/Beth, then so be it. I think they deserve it, because it’s not easy to stand out in such a male dominated profession, especially when you’re given two minutes every week.
I might be the only one pissed off at this, but so be it. I dont think Beth Phoenix deserves to be a future hall of famer at all. What has she done? 3 time women champion….yeah ok, I’m pretty sure Mickie and Melina deserve it 100 times more than her. Lets see what else has she done….go to the Royal Rumble? Ok Chyna went there twice and competed in 2 King of the Ring Tournaments. If Beth Phoenix gets in the Hall of Fame and Chyna doesn’t, then that will show the world how pathetic WWE management really is. If any female wrestler deserves Hall of Fame before anyone, that’s Chyna.

Last time I checked, crowd reactions have nothing to do with Hall Of Fame inductions. The current Divas still live in the shadow of the Trish/Lita Era which is not fair at all. Even the Divas of the Trish/Lita Era messed up thier moves and had boring matches sometimes. And remember, it took Trish and Lita YEARS before they hit their stride. The problem is that WWE is trying to cater to John Cena obsessed kids who couldnt care less about a bunch of chicks running around in the ring, no matter how hard they try. It’s time people get out of the past and start looking at what is front of them. Beth works harder than most of the women in her division. And just because she doesn’t look like Barbie, doesn’t mean that she is not beautiful. In fact, I think that she is more beautiful than Maryse, or Kelly, or the Bellas, but that’s just me. Beauty is subjective. Beth’s star is still rising. The best is yet to come for the Glamazon.
justbringit — I think you’re jumping the gun. The key to the phrase ‘Future Hall of Famer’ is the word FUTURE. It’s a prediction on WWE’s part that when Beth’s career is over and done, they believe she’ll have had enough of a body of work to warrant HOF status. It’s far too soon of you, or anyone else, to be dissecting her worthiness (or any other current Diva’s worthiness for that matter) when she’s still very much current.

If they wrote future on the card or not, its pretty obvious that Beth will get to the HOF unfortunately. The problem I have with her is, I dont think Beth has done nearly enough to be considered a future Hall of Famer. I mean she may be talented, sure but I don’t think she has left an impact or lasting effect to make her seem like a true HOF-er.

Unfortunately? What’s so unfortunate about it? Beth has the potential to last a good handful more years in the business and with her awesome skill set she’s very likely to have many more great matches and title reigns. I think there are many who feel she was really starting to hit her stride and find a comfortable place with her role as a face when she had to go out on injury. Beth has proven herself through her time in the indies and the dedication she has shown while in WWE to be a tremendous talent and asset to the company as much as any other diva on the roster and probably much more than most. While there may be a few who match her work ethic and skill I can’t think of a single diva who works harder or is better.
I don’t see how it’s “unfortunate” that she is looked at as being a possible Future Hall of Famer should she stay healthy and continue to grow into her character. People are acting like her career has already ended, and the only criteria to determine her entering the Hall of Fame is her time in WWE up to this point.

I wouldnt count on that. The WWE Diva division is pretty much down the toilet. And I wouldnt assume she will stay forever, anything can happen. The most popular diva for crying out loud was fired (Mickie James)
Her character is plain and boring, Glamazon? That sounds so tacky and stupid. I don’t think WWE even gives their Divas characters or a chance to create a character. I mean how much do you really see the Divas on mic. The majority of women matches are on WWE Superstars anyways and those matches are barely watched. Superstars is for the jobber type/low card wrestlers and when you put Divas on there that shows how much character the develop right?

@ Cod3Cody- Beth might not have done anything that would guarentee that she will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame yet. I think what they are trying to say is that if Beth carries on the path that she is on now, she will no doubt make it to the HOF. Beth has to work in a company that once valued its female employees, but now treats them as an after-thought. Not to mention that she doesnt exactly have that many worthy opponents. With the exception of Michelle, Melina, Natalya and a few others that are not even being used properly, how many memorable fueds can she have, really? Unless The E stop treating her like some fragile creature and allow her to push boundries, just like Chyna was allowed to, who knows what she will be able to achieve?
How is the divas division down the toilet? Is it exactly where it was popularity-wise when Trish and Lita were there? No, obviously not; however, WWE has taken steps to start working with newer ladies like Alicia Fox, Eve, Kelly Kelly, and even Layla as far as title reigns are concerned. There are two diva title matches on the card coming up which wasn’t at all necessary unless WWE actually has an interest in trying to put some effort into the division. Is it a perfect effort? Obviously not. They have done very poorly in working with their new faces, but the fact they didn’t just immediately shove Eve to the side after her rematch shows perhaps they have some faith.
I’m not assuming she’ll stay forever, and Beth is not in the same position Mickie was. She seems to have few serious career interests outside of WWE, and if we’re looking at rumors whatsoever she doesn’t seem to have any major issues with former lover/boyfriends. I’m not saying that Mickie was dealt with fairly, but that’s how it stands.
I completely disagree that “The Glamazon” is a tacky and stupid name. At the very least it’s no more “tacky and stupid” than the Ninth Wonder of the World. The majority of the diva matches are on Superstars? My memory isn’t perfect, but I’m pretty sure we nearly always get a divas match on Raw and Smackdown each week. On the off chance we don’t, they get some kind of segment. Superstars is an extra show to start building people who simply cannot be fit onto either of the main shows. I think this argument is particularly weak because, while I wish Jillian would get a win, we’ve seen an at least mildly entertaining feud between Jillian and the Bella Twins on Superstars lately.

They already tried to get Beth to push the boundaries, ex: The Royal Rumble. She isn’t able to do what Chyna did. Like I said before, there was and always will only be one Chyna. Trying to get others to be just like her and break the boundaries she broke is foolish.
I had A LOT of respect for Beth before, but then she pushed the issue by basically trashing and calling Chyna’s career pathetic. She did not stop there though, she then insisted that Chyna was like a man, or even a man…For me, that was more than enough, its one thing to insult someone, but to take it as far as Beth did is too much. Beth needs to grow up and learn to respect people. Chyna is a LEGEND. And when you compare Chyna’s legacy to Beth’s, its quite obvious that Chyna’s career destroys Beth’s. Chyna paved that way for many of the women wrestlers today and its a complete shame that Beth couldn’t at least appreciate it. What I appreciate is the fact that Chyna never commented back to Beth’s comments and to me that shows who the real women is.

lol, it’s always reminded me of the tv show popular. having mental flashes of beth phoenix doing cheers and having food fights is pretty funny.
as it stands right now, i don’t feel that any of the current divas are future hall of fame worthy, but beth and the rest have a good long while to change that. i’m perhaps being a bit harsh in my standards, but i don’t even think somebody like mickie james should be inducted into the hall of fame and we’re all aware of how much wwe lurrved her at one stage.
Chyna would have been a shoo-in if not for her unfortunate public implosion. Even with the whole HHH-SMH history. If she stayed sane or even out of the limelight completely she’d still be considered. Post Trish/Lita era, Beth have the best chance out of all the divas of getting into the HOF. Her accomplishments mirrored some of Chyna’s. She’s not gonna be as over as the big four (Sable,Chyna,Trish,Lita) but nobody is going to be in this era. But really a man with f’n bird best known for dancing around the ring is in the HOF. Ok, I think I’ll throw my two cents in. Beth Phoenix deserves to be in inducted into WWE Hall of Fame. Beth has accomplished a lot in her wrestling career considering that Beth has been wrestling for 9 years. Since her WWE debut, Beth has had some great feuds with Mickie James, Melina and Michelle McCool. For those who say Beth didn’t any fan reaction before her feud with Michelle McCool are wrong. Beth got great heel reaction during her feuds with Mickie James and Melina. Also I don’t think it’s fair to compare Beth to Chyna. Chyna wrestled men for the most of her WWE while Beth Phoenix has wrestled women. It’s called Women’s Wrestling for a reason people. For those who still are saying Beth doesn’t deserve in be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame; here’s a quick list of what Beth has accomplished in the past 9 years of her career that shows why Beth should be inducted;

Now with that said, I do think that Beth shouldn’t be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before Trish Stratus or Mickie James. Trish Stratus was one of the most popular Divas in the WWE past 10 years and made a huge impact in Women’s Wrestling. Trish put on one the greatest women’s matches on all time at Wrestlemania 22 against Mickie James. Mickie James 100% deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Mickie James has accomplished more than any current WWE Diva has in her 10 year wrestling career. On side note for anybody who didn’t know, Beth Phoenix’s opponent in her first professional wrestling was against Alexis Laree AKA Mickie James. Bottom line is Beth deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. However, Vince McMahon decides who gets inducted, not the fans or wrestling peers. So if you’re not down with Vince and in his good graces, you’re not getting inducted. Just ask Randy Savage who deserves to be inducted and hasn’t.

I understand that you are a big fan of Chyna and hey, I would totally get pissed if another diva insulted my favorite diva. But like those who have pointed out here, wwe.com interviews are kayfabe (you should already know that WWE itself is scripted and kayfabe) and the wrestlers interviews have to say things a certain way to keep with their character. Beth was still a heel at the time and her character always put herself above toher divas. So of course on a wwe.com interview, she would put herself above Chyna to keep with her heel character. I highly doubt she feels like that about Chyna in reality. There’s a difference bewteen WWE Beth Phoenix and real life Elizabeth Kocanski. You don’t know the full story, so you shouldn’t take away your respect from Beth just yet. Many of the heel male wrestlers say the most cocky and arrogant things in their WWE interviews. Do you really think they’re like that? Would The Undertaker really want to take your soul away in real life? Obviously not.
And why are you putting her character down so much?
If you are a diva fan, you should at least be happy that a current diva is being recognized as a possible future Hall of Famer even if you feel that she doesn’t deserve it yet. I mean she’s hard and dedicated worker and I think she’s an inspiration to girls who want to wrestle. In my honest opinion, she’s definitely on that path. Congrats, Beth!

The difference is that Stephanie McMahon was highly entertaining and Eve and Kelly Kelly are not. I really didn’t care if Stephanie couldn’t wrestle, I only cared about being entertained and most divas today are lacking that today.
It’s pretty funny when someone mentions comments one wrestler says about another. All of those inflammatory comments are made “in character”…they all support and repect each other (for the most part) because they are a tight knit fraternity that travels the world together. It’s obvious Cod3Cody never met Beth so you can discount all of those negative comments.
Does she deserve to be a Hall of Famer? Well…lets keep this in perspective…the WWE HOF isn’t the baseball HOF…Vince picks people, so lets not get all grumpy about this. Pete Rose deserves to be in baseball’s HOF, now that is a debate. This trading card is a nice tribute to Beth and shows the WWE has a lot of confidence in her. Nothing more…

Beth is one of the high spots of the women’s division currently. She played a great heel and now she’s playing a great face (albeit was cut short). And if folks think she has manly features, well so did Chyna, and people still thought Joanie was beautiful. When I first saw Beth, I honestly thought that thats what Helen of Troy would’ve looked like. Her facial features just scream Greek statue to me, a classic beauty, stoic and strong. And normally I don’t care for blondes, but she struck me with her unique look.
She’s done a lot in her career. It’s fairly arbitary who gets in the HOF but look at this past year. Antonio Inoki was WWWF champion in 1979 but his reign isn’t officially recognized by the ‘E and it was ultra short. Did he deserve to be in the HOF? No, clearly not. Yet folks want to shred Beth’s accomplishments & deny her a place in the Hall. And this wouldn’t even happen any time soon! It’s a phrase on a collector’s card. It’s not “Beth Phoenix: Hall of Fame Class of 2025″ or what have you.
Chyna and Beth are two different people, two different characters, period. It isn’t right to shred one at the expense of the other. What Beth said about Chyna was kayfabe. Even Joanie knew that, which is why she didn’t fire back at Beth. It’s a business. People need to remember that.
My two cents, I’d like to see Beth in the HOF some day. There’s only four in the WWE’s compared to the numerous men in there. If they’re deserving, more women need to be inducted and there’s no shortage of women to nominate.
First off I have been a wrestling fan for 50 years and I feel you all need perspective from some one who really has enjoyed many years of Pro -Wrestling.Do I think Beth will ever get into the HOF yes because her work has always been top knotch no matter who the opponent.Both Melina and Mickie has said Beth is one off the best in-ring workers today.And both just loved working with Beth.On the subject of Santino and Beth.It wasn’t that Beth worked with Santino.Santino worked with and was pared up with Beth for one thing to save his job.And Glamarella lasted 9 months.And now cause of their work together might get their own series this next year.Glamarella isn’t dead yet.Vince is just waiting for his new net-work channel to take off before putting on Glamarella.And what other Diva has ever had the chance at something like that.
Yes Beth is different then Chyna. I never like Chyna ;for one thing she isn’t any where as attractive as Beth is and Chyna liked to more then anything mix it up with men and I was around and watch those matches. I ever remember her working with the late Eddie Guerro for one thing they just didn’t have the chemistry that Santino had with Beth and remember they lasted a long time on tv.And right now WWE considers Beth Phoenix to be one of the most marketable Diva’s they’ve got. And to turn Beth face took some work cause of how over she was with the audicience .It was so difficult that had to bring in Vickie to bring her over as a Full face Diva and then wwe creative decided to turn Beth as a Dominate face Diva.And the Diva Division is ignored by wwe creative like you think.
And contrary to what you thing the Diva’s like Santino and Vladimir and Reagel are an important part of the Show.They are considered Mood alterating matches another words on any given Raw or pay per view they can’t have all heavy matches cause the crowd won’t buy it.But when they put on Diva matches they try and get the best workers together and that can work together in the ring that can put on a show.So you start off any show with a heavy matches and during the show you put a Diva match on to lighten things up a bit. NOw then when Beth gets back most likely Sept and with SmackDown changing net works on Oct. 1st the show should greatly pick up.Matter of fact Vince has stated that SD could eventually draw the kind of crowd that Raw does.Cause they will be on Prime Net Work.Do I think Diva’s are important part of the show,yes I do if you want to keep it’s ratings up.For one of the most important reason’s is WWE Raw and SmackDown are wrestling Enteraintment shows for everyone .That’s why you have so many different matchs.Not all of them top of the line .Most arre mid-card to enterain.That ‘s what they all Do even the Diva’s.
